Eddie and the entire staff provided fantastic customer service, and everyone was very welcoming. The hotel is situated in a excellent location.

False advertisement. The room was dirty. The beds head bugs we requested new sheets, but was told there is no cleaning stuff on site when we checked in we were given new sheets and was told to put them on ourselves. The bathroom window did not close so all night we had to listen to the noise from the street multiple times in later hours of the night there was nobody at the front desk. There was a sign on the door saying will return at 5 AM. There is a random person sleeping in the lobby on the one of the couches. Had someone bang on my door at 3:30 in the morning and hotel staff was not helpful in any of the issues hardly any water pressure from the shower, but the sink had plenty water pressure. The floors were dirty constantly had to wear sandals while in the room the bathroom tile was slimy and had like a grime on it. Bedsheets were not changed daily. Staff just remade the beds and on top of everything had a personal item stolen from my room when confronting the hotel about it they told us our staff wouldn’t do that and would not even look into the matter.

We experienced a problem with our booking. Instead of resolving the issue, the receptionist deliberately created a new reservation for the same dates, claiming it was a price match. We only discovered this after returning from San Juan and contacting the hotel. The staff was uncooperative and ultimately charged us for a double booking. Additionally, the window in our room was broken, allowing significant street noise to enter and causing considerable disturbance throughout our stay.

Went to room and there was a used bath towel hanging in the closet and pull back sheets dirt all over .... sent to a second room and there were body crumbs all over the sheets. Offered to see other property but I declined because I was disgusted . Spent more money and went to a new hotel . Haven't received a refund or anything and I didn't even stay there .

The staff was really friendly but i stayed in a room that they knowingly have an insect infestation. I wish they were transparent with me about it before giving me the room. I woke up to a bunch of disgusting insects all over the pillow and bedding. The fridge and the remote to the tv did not work.

Overall great experience. We were able to secure an early checkin due to our flight time. We also were able to leave our luggage there post check out. Shower could have gone been better but all is well.

Mold in bathroom ceilings and inside air conditioner, construction within close proximity of room caused dust and air irritatants. Poor plumbing, zero critical thinking regarding urgent accommodation. After the fourth room change, a move to a near by chain property and maze like responses from employees, I gave up. I had been staying at this pretty hotel for quite some time, service has receded. I expected so much more from this lovely property. As time has past so has the light for this hotel.

Arrived around 6:00 PM. And was greeted by the desk clerk Eddie. A very pleasant man. after getting settled in a room, it was time to eat. Eddie help every step of the way. Was so welling to answer all my questions every time I passed the front desk.

first of all, they stole from me and are very unhelpful when it comes to compensation. i had luggage that locks and all my valuables were kept there. one thing i didn’t think of was my prescription glasses. i came back one night to find them gone, it just happens to be the same day house keeping “came”. the rooms are crusty. in my 5 night stay, house keeping came through once. they didn’t refresh the sheets. i had made a small stain on mine and for some reason they just re dressed my bed with the same sheets. the “clean towels” had stains as well. they didn’t refresh the toilet paper. at that point there’s no point of even having house keeping

A cute hotel but everything seemed to be not working and \"out of order\". Ice machine, room fridge, ceiling fan, several lights in room and bathroom, shower didn't drain, toilet ran constantly, latch to close a window broken, safe was in closet but closet door only partially opened, smoke alarm beeping but hotel didn't have new batteries. Bathroom was not clean... black spots splattered on floor and walls that I had no problem wiping off with a towel. Glad we were only there one night. Also front desk is not manned 24/7 as advertised...5 groups were outside a locked hotel wanting to check luggage at 10 am before seeing the city...no answer to doorbell or to phone number... one person walked 3 blocks to sister hotel to ask for help. Then no one present at check out...drop the keys in a basket.

Don't trust the amenities as listed: Free breakfast? Nope. Soundproof rooms? Nope...traffic noise kept us up all night. \"Refrigerator\" in room was a wine cooler = unsafe for food storage, and I got food poisoning. Room was shabby & small. NO elevator. On the plus side, good beds, very nice people, nice courtyard/patio, good location.

Despite this, the piece of trash remained in the exact same spot for our entire stay, which clearly shows that the floor was never vacuumed—neither before our arrival nor after our complaint.
The sheets were already wrinkled upon arrival, and given the overall condition of the room, we genuinely questioned whether they had been changed after the previous guests.
Additionally, the room does not match the photos at all, it is much more outdated in reality.
Some members of the staff were quite rude and unhelpful, although I do want to note that a few of the ladies were very kind.
The location is excellent, which is unfortunately the only positive aspect of this stay.

We stayed at the Canario Boutique Hotel for about 5 days for a birthday trip. The room and bathroom were very clean. The overall hotel had a very homely feel to it. I loved the style of the hotel, it felt like we were on vacation. I will say there are no elevators, so if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues just be aware. But the staff were very helpful and amazing. Shout out to Ana at the front desk. and there was this older gentleman who was also helpful who helped us to check-in. The hotel was in a perfect location, you could easily walk around the area and find good restaurants and sites like Old San Juan and the Escambron Dive Park were only a 5 minute uber / taxi away. Beautiful location, amazing staff, and very affordable. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a local business to support in the area. I would definitely stay again! They also have a pool at one of their neighboring locations which was only a 10 min, walk away.

On the pro side, the room was clean and the A/C worked great. The cons were numerous…TV didn’t work. Had ice bucket but no cups, didn’t matter as the ice machine was broken. Only one hand towel and washcloth for two people. One of the window panes was cardboard. The light by the bed didn’t work. Most of the outlets didn’t work. The little refrigerator was not cold. There were blow dryers in the closet, but no outlets in the bathroom. There was a deadbolt apparatus on the door, but no actual deadbolt. This may have been just this particular room, but it was not what I expected when it was advertised as “botique”

This is a family owned boutique hotel and I love that. While the property was pretty over all, it was a bit on the older side. The room didn’t match the pictures on the website. We don’t know if it was because we were only staying one night, but we were given what we felt was a subpar/ rinky dinky room. The room was so small that we couldn’t open our luggage properly and the bathroom door almost hit the bed when open. We also had an issue with no hot water and the fridge wasn’t working (wasn’t cold), while they replaced the fridge the hot water didn’t arrive.

Great location! They offer bag storage, but it's in their lobby/waiting area. Thankfully, none of the items go missing. My room was nice, but I'm not sure if the sheets were changed, they had a strong BO smell. Also, my window didn't want to close but a staff member was happy to help me get it taken care of! To be honest, this place was not great. When checking in, the staff was unfriendly and not helpful (though it may just be this one guy and we got unlucky). The rooms are as small as the pictures show, so don’t be surprised. Tv didnt work, but water pressure is actually decent. Didn’t get new towels / room service in the four days we stayed despite asking and putting the sign up. Location is okay, plenty or restaurants, shops, and beaches nearby, but nothing special when every other hotel has the exact same stuff. No breakfast but they atleast provide some coffee. Overall, its not great for the price. I’ve stayed in nicer hostels for a fourth of the price, and this place did not add to my trip experience at all (in fact arguably made it worse). If you are looking at a place purely to store your luggage and sleep at, then this works but there are cheaper options. Not good, but not awful either.

I loved staying at Canario. It is a lovely historic building, with lots of character, snuggled between more modern condos, and many restaraunts and boutique shops in the hip Condado neighborhood. The clean beach was just a block away and the water was great to swim in. The staff were friendly and the beds were comfortable. The rooms weren't ideally furnished, and I was glad to have a room wit 2 full beds even though we were a couple traveling together, in order to give us some space to stretch out and put our belongings. I love supporting these kind of smaller hotels and encouraging others to stay here!

Nice area, short walk to the beach, friendly staff, comfortable room, but place is a bit worn out. There isn’t an elevator, which we knew, but others should be aware. We were able to store luggage in lounge while we went out and explored after checking out.

Parts of our stay were better than others. Our check in was not smooth, for while we were able to leave our bags to go eat, we were supposed to be called when the room was ready at 3:00. That never happened, so when we came back closer to 4:00 and were hurriedly checked in, we discovered that some of the things in the room were not cleaned or turned over. The older gentlemen on staff at that time sprang into action to help us, but it was clear they were not prepared for us. The grounds are absolutely beautiful. The listing specified a rooftop seating area, but that wasn't really an accessible thing. The beds were comfortable, the AC worked well; not much water pressure in the shower, but the water stayed consistently hot. We were safe, staff were friendly, and the room stayed cool, bathroom worked. Ultimately, this does not rise to the level of \"boutique hotel\" that we have stayed in in other areas.

Carrying luggage up three flights of stairs is definitely not for the faint of heart.
Another downside was the shower in our room. We booked a King room, but our shower was literally built into what felt like a closet — very small and not what we expected. Interestingly, our friends also had a King room, but their bathroom was completely different and had a standard-sized shower. So it seems room layouts vary quite a bit.
Overall, the staff made the stay enjoyable, but there are a few things future guests may want to keep in mind when booking.
