Hotel staff friendly and room clean. Had 1st floor and was extremely bright in the room at night. Did have to wear eye mask to try to sleep. Maybe it was our location on the 1st floor but the room was aslo loud as you heard people walking throught the hardwood floors during the night.

The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff @ the desk were very helpful: holding our bags upon our arrival, then placing them in our room once it was ready. They also assisted us with transport and our bags upon departure. The breakfast was excellent, as was the attentive staff. Lastly, the location was very convenient to Marble Arch and Paddington Station and nearly nextdoor to a delightful and very good pub.

When returning to London, this is where I will go!

The hotel was a great stay. I enjoyed staying here; the staff, especially at the reception, were exceptionally warm and helpful.

The room I first stayed in would, however, need a touch-up; the room had a faulty toilet, and there was a water leak from the roof. I was, however, given another room the next day, which was quite spacious and beautiful.
The hotel is in a nice location, you can easily access cafes and restaurants just around the block, and Oxford Street is about a 10-minute walk.

I highly recommend it, I would definitely stay again.

This was a lower price than I normally pay and it did reflect on what we got .
It felt like a boarding house not a hotel. The bathroom is small and dated.
There was someone talking in another bedroom all night and it kept me awake.

The location is good for Oxford Street/Bond Street. Personally wouldn’t choose to stay here again but if you’re on a budget, perhaps it’s okay for you. As long as you’re not expecting anything special.

We only stayed one night, but it was pleasant.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The room was a good size, the shower unfortunately had a strange shower head that was not adjustable enough.
The hotel is very \"quaint\" and beautiful and feels cosy.
One drawback is the system to get to higher floors - the lift took us to the second floor, but then had to negotiate the narrow stairs with luggage.
However, overall our stay in early November this year was very nice.

A very well presented hotel with pretty flowers at the front and a polished front door. Very clean inside and the staff are sooo friendly and can’t do enough for you. The room is very comfortable, really quiet and has a lovely shower. Breakfast is great, offering everything from a bowl of cereal to a full English. Overall, this hotel is ideally located, quiet, very comfortable, extremely clean and has wonderful staff. Will definitely stay again and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in Central London.

All was well with this little cute boutique hotel. Lovely location. However the one item that would have given it a 5 star is the condition of the mattress. Excellent location (near the Marble Arch tube and bus station) and walkable to the Oxford street shopping, Maryleborne and much more. Some of the fixtures and furniture could do with some updating or repair. Decent value and comparable to other hotels in the neighborhood. Lots of cafe, coffee, and bakery options that offer better choice and value than the in-house breakfast. AC was appreciated. Towels were changed everyday, though we did not request this. WiFi and streaming services on the TV were a bit hit or miss. Was asked at check-in, if I was willing to cancel the Expedia booking and pay the hotel directly - the representative behind the counter only stopped pushing this after I showed her in the app that the cancellation window had already passed, etc.

The only reason this hotel is so expensive is the location. The service was good and the room was spacious and well air conditioned but the bed is on the floor which was a bit weird and the shower smelled terrible. They tried to help me scan and send some documents but it didn’t work. The breakfast was only available for 2 hours and it was dried out and so warm downstairs I was afraid the milk/yogurt might be spoiled. No views in the breakfast room. Overall it was not bad since I was mostly just sleeping there but personally I feel it was overpriced.

Location is very convenient. I'd visited the Sumner in the past before the pandemic. The room I was given was adequate, with a decent shower, small fridge and acceptable bed. The room furniture, however, was not in keeping with what I'd previously known; the desk chair in particular was soiled and over-used, the clothes bureau did not close, and the chaise had a tattered blanket draped over it. If you don't need to spend much time in the room, all that could be overlooked, but it was a different feel than I'd previously experienced.

This is a very nice property. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room spacious and comfortable. The location was very convenient with nearby public transport, shopping, restaurants and parks. There is a lift on site, but also a couple of stairs. They also allowed us to store our luggage as we arrived early in the morning. My only issue was with the shower. You cannot adjust the temperature or turn the water off when your hands are wet and the water is scalding hot. Had to use a face washer to grip and turn the taps. For safety the hot water temperature needs to be reduced. I would stay here again.

Misleading. Not a 4-star hotel.

The beds were comfortable, but the room is in great need of updates and more privacy. Multiple tiles in the bathroom were cracked, carpet is worn, chair provided at the desk dipped so much in the middle it was like sitting on a hole in the chair. The tv did not work. The door jam was not complete and there was space someone could look through into the room if they chose to. I would not stay there again.

I was pleasantly surprised at how cute this little boutique hotel was. I would definitely stay here again. Spacious room, Very comfortable, private bathroom, clean and quiet as long as the windows were closed. We opened them for a bit to get some fresh cooler air as we could not adjust the air conditioning and with them open there is quite a lot of street noise. Also seems like a safe neighborhood, but my husband did have his phone ripped from his hands just a block away so be vigilant.

Beautiful small hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. It felt more like a large house than a hotel. Located in an upscale part of the city. We had a twin bed room that offered plenty of space. Beds and pillows weren't as comfortable as I'd hoped but were fine and we slept well. Bathroom was clean but floor tile could use some work. Air worked well to keep us cool. The only real downside was the odd way the elevators were built to drop you at the half floors, so no matter where you landed you had to go either up or down a half flight of stairs to get to your room (a pain when dealing with luggage or if you have mobility issues). Overall we really liked our stay and would stay here again in the future.

Bed was old and sagged in middle, I requested they changed mattress , they turned mattress which was slightly better. In returning in evening our door was left open prob cleaning. I went to call front desk and phone did not work.I went down to yell night clerk he came to room to fix phone which was disconnected and showed him how door was left. He was not apologetic at all.

We have stayed at the Sumner Hotel on numerous occasions, and I can honestly say the welcome we receive is always incredibly warm and genuine. The staff are absolutely lovely and can’t do enough for you. While the rooms are beginning to look a bit tired, they remain clean and comfortable for a good night's sleep. The hotel’s location is exceptional, just a couple of minutes' walk from Marble Arch. Plus, the neighbourhood is a treat to explore, with amazing bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. All in all, it's a fantastic place to stay.

Lots of potential in need of renovation

The initial reaction when stepping into the Sumner was traditional London high end hotel/B&B. Service was lovely the receptionist was very welcoming and shared all details that needed to be conveyed. All rooms are serviced by the lift however there is one staircase to negotiate regardless of where your room is - not an issue for me but good for people to be aware.

The room was an impressive size, very spacious, lots of storage, fridge, tea & coffee facilities, desk and pretty much everything you would need.

Now for the downside:
Rooms are very noisy - internal and external noises can be heard pretty clearly.
Neither of the bedside tables worked
Bathroom needed some TLC - patchwork tiling where fixes had previously been done and a lingering smell (keep the door closed!).
TV signal was appalling! I was travelling for business so I enjoy watching something when I'm away as I don't have to rugby tackle anyone for the remote! Kept freezing, very difficult to navigate channels and due to the bed being quite far away it was difficult to actually see what was on TV when it was working as was a smaller screen.
Lastly the desk chair was very uncomfortable, it had clearly been used quiet frequently!

All in all for a 1 night stay it wasn't terrible but if I had been able to swap hotels I would have but due to my late arrival this was not possible.

Amazing customer service, couldn’t fault it. The person on reception was so welcoming, personable and helpful as was the person in the breakfast bar.
There were areas of our room that could have done with a small amount of paint to freshen it up and there was a strange drain smell occasionally in the bathroom however the room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfy. They also had a beautiful lounge room which we used after coming back from a gig in Hyde Park. The location is perfect for Hyde Park, Oxford Street and walkable from London Paddington (20 minutes). All in all an enjoyable stay. Would stay again just for the location and customer service.

The Sumner didn’t make a great first impression - the reception area is cramped. And there were a couple problems in our room (the only outlet in the bathroom didn’t work, the WiFi was a bit sporadic, and the shower hose leaked). But the bed was soooo comfortable, the water pressure and temperature were great, the breakfast was fantastic (so many choices, hot and cold, and attentive service), and the location was perfect, very close to several things we wanted to do or see in London, and very close to public transportation of all sorts. Overall we give it a 9!

Not perfect but deserving of 5 Stars for the staff, the Georgian charm, and the location. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. The lift wasn’t working (apparently hasn’t been working for a while) but our bags were carried up for us. We needed a cab a couple of times and asked the desk manager to arrange it and it was there right on time. Nice coffee shop around the corner. Marble Arch bus stop 4 minute walk away. When we return to London it will be the Sumner again!

This was our third time staying at the Sumner. The elevator was out of order the whole time we were there. I hope they get it fixed. The room was very comfortable and clean. I really like the quiet neighborhood and proximity to the tube.
