The rooms are a bit dated and the carpet in the rooms are filthy. My son’s socks were black from walking on the carpet. My recommendation is remove the carpet and put down some sort of laminate flooring.

Standards dropping

I have stayed at the property before, and the standards are dropping. Bongani at reception was amazing, THANK YOU! The property needs serious maintenance. There are clear signs of moisture near the door of room 404. The floor-tiles in the bathroom are loose, the board supporting the vanity in the bathroom is rotten and the silicone that someone tried to apply is terrible. The shower-head is leaking water. The soap dispenser isnt proper, the reservoir is unceremoniously put on top thereof, and often falls off. I had to phone reception to attend to both aircon and telephone remotes were not working, I also had to ask at reception AGAIN the next morning to have it fixed. I also noticed some milldew on the inside of the shower despite the entire room reeking of bleach. MASSIVE cockroaches running around the lounge department

My stay was average. The place itself was outdated as such i was not able to discern whether the it was the decor that outdated or whether the place was dirty especially the swimming pool . But the place is near the city, opposite a mall so those are huge pluses if you are new to the place. Based on location i gice it a thumbs up.

Just don’t stay here.

The aircon was on a timer and shut off every 50 minutes which meant I woke up once an hour to turn it on as the room was HOT! Also, no kettle to boil water for coffee, only one glass for water. The tap water was warm. The bathroom door didn’t close all the way. The front door had a broken lock. Room smelled musty, the aircon leaked water. WiFi was weak.Not worth the price.

One Night stay, Christmas Shopping In Nelspruit.

In general the accommodation was very good.
The only bad thing I could say that they are a bit stingy on the Tea/Coffee/Sugar/Milk. If I had asked for more they most likely would have given, but I didn't.

The pool and pool area was not cleaned in the four days spent there. The bottom of the pool was literaly black from all the dirt. The sides looked like mold was growing. Health department should make inspection. Nobody cleaned the cushions or bothered to lay them on the recliners or chairs, guests had to do it themselves.

We have stayed few times but the condition is getting bad to worse. I wonder whether Accor Hotel Group have different standards. We have stayed at Mercure in Singapore and Novotel/Sofitel in other locations and the standard was far better. we booked a 2 bedroom apartment. When we checked in, the receptionist told us that all the baby cots are broken,but some how they managed to find one. when we went to the apartment, the toilet was not flushed, there were no bath mats. in addition there were no telephone, even though there was a room service menu. so we had to go to the restaurant to order food to the room. I wonder why they even have a room service menu. in addition, there was no communication at all. Then the main a/c was leaking and the and the carpet was wet. the window blinds were broken. there were cob webs in the fan in one room. There were no crockery & cutlery. I wonder whether they even check whether the rooms after the cleaning staff has completed their job. this should be basic in any hotel. The hotel provides 500 MB free WIFI, but when we requested for vouchers the receptionist told us that the vouchers don't work. The toilet door cannot be locked and there was no key. These are few issues that i can remember. The only good thing about that hotel is the location. we are extremely disappointed about the standard of the hotel and basic maintenance work can make a difference.

Reconfirm whats on your booking

My booking (that I showed to the hotel) stated free wifi. That's why I selected this hotel. However, the hotel said that free wifi is only limited to 500MB. This is cheating as they should have stated it on the booking. Also, the first room I checked in was a mess as well. The AC was throwing hot air and TV remote was also not there. Despite making several complaints, after 2 hours I was asked to move to another room and that also without any help from the hotel to move the luggage.

I used this hotel a few times in the past (4-5 years ago) and was generally satisfied.
This time I was impressed by the visible decay of the facilities.
Loose and noisy water taps, air conditioner not working properly in the bedroom, disgusting towels in the bathroom (maybe washed but definitely worn and unclean), loose kitchen cabinet doors, safe not working...
Definitely not a 3-star hotel by any standard and overpriced for its quality and comfort.
I have chosen this hotel for its convenient location considering the purpose of my visits, but i will now remove it from my options list.

The hotel is located beind a shoping center, very noise. The pool was dirthy and the painting was all craqued. The air conditionning was licking on the carpet of the room it was smelling bad. Will never recommand this hotel and will never go back.

At check in when asked about room service and where told the hotel was too busy to offer room service. We ended up going across the road in the rain to the mall to get dinner. When I got back you room to have dinner there were no plates and cutlery was dirty. The shower was dirty as well as one of the towels. No hairdryer in the room as well.

I booked through my Marriot Pro card bookings and was disappointed when I had to pay to hear you are not connected to the Marriot Pro card Group and group not exercise my benefits.
The towels in the room was due for replacement.
The vanity was area needs some repairs done as the wood was coming appart.
I would not make the hotel one of my choices should I need to visit Nelspruit again.

Hotel needs a serious interior facelift.

Upon arrival to the hotel from a long road trip with kids, I was denied an early check-in immediately upon request and told to come after 2pm. The receptionist never even tried to accommodate us in any way. The interior of the room we were given was in extremely poor condition (old and stained couch, broken cabinetry, dark room, 4 TV channels, dirty carpet, broken lamp, etc.). The room furniture resembled furniture one could find at the end of a garage sale.

Nice place for a stopover

I stayed the night in Nelspruit on my way from Mozambique to Johannesburg. I enjoyed having a spacious room with cooking facilities. I will stay again for future stopovers and if I am needing to stay in the Nelspruit area.

Good middle of the road self-catering hotel

The Mecure Nelspruit hotel is a pleasant middle of the road hotel. Good beds, limited DSTV on flat screen TV and it is self-catering orientated. Good kitchen with microwave, kettle and fridge. Nice swimming pool and bar area. Blocks 4&5 are in the middle so less noise as furthest from the road. It is in a safe secure parking area and close to a shopping centre if you wish to eat out. Bathroom is good and has bath and shower. It has a good desk for working. Wi-Fi you are limited too 500mb per day, thereafter you pay. I think the days of not having unlimited Wi-Fi for free is a standard and hotels who do not offer this is living in the past. In my room Wi-Fi signal was strong and I was in block 6, furthest from reception. Room has air conditioner. At the hotels.com price I paid around R600 it was good value for money. I however see normal rates are around R1300-R1600, for this price you can get far better hotel.

Happy Family Stay

I am a divorced father living in Johannesburg and my kids live in Nelspruit with their mother. Unfortunately due to debts I cannot afford to see my kids on a monthly basis as travelling is very expensive, not to mention sleeping over. With the reduced online booking cost and the suitable, friendly and clean accommodation it really made the overnight stay for me and my kids a pleasant and enjoyable experience, even with the cool cloudy weather.

This is a nice hotel, close to the Lhanga Mall.

Overall rating is very good, but for some time now, the hotel keeps some old towels for guests in the rooms. My suggestion is that the hotel management could start changing the towels. The rest is fine. I like to stay in the Mercure hotels chain, wherever I go, either Johannesburg or Nelspruit (Mbombela).

I pulled in for a sole one night stay before a race.
The receptionist was not very friendly and it was an effort to check me in at 19h30, and to explain things to me.
No visible security so venturing out at night alone is a little unsettling...
Room service ordered at 19h45 arrives at 22h30, cold and sweaty under cling wrap.
The waiter returned five minutes later to ask me to pay in cash because their systems were down so they couldn't allocate the cost to my room.
The check-out at 05h30 the next morning was efficient.
Lovely large self catering rooms are very comfortable but a funny smell lurks (perhaps the carpets?) and TV reception is not great.
Apart from the poor service, a very well priced and comfortable hotel.

If you want value for your money and travelling with a crowd look no further. For the rates we paid this was 5 star. The rooms were spacious, had all the amenities and also self catering facilities. Our rooms were also reserved for an early 10am check in. Great service from Joe at reception. The hotel does need a bit of maintenance here and there but it was great nevertheless. We loved the open foyer with couches and a great bar. I especially loved the african decor, really set the mood for a safari. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and my family loved it too. we will definitely be back. Once again, for the rates per person we got way more than we expected.

Room was clean. Air con very noisy. Safe didn't work until the final day of my 5 days and manager wasn't particularly bothered (you do't want to be carry all your cash and passport around in SA). Once it did work it then broke with all my valuables locked inside, it took the maintenance man 1 minute with a screwdriver and hammer to open it - not very reassuring. Food was average at best and very expensive considering going rates so not good value. Service at bar was slow and sometimes non-existent. One of the receptionists was incredibly rude. Wifi wasn't exactly free, you got a small allowance per day, when it worked, which was irregular. Even paying for wifi there were times when it was unusably slow or did;t work at all. Location was good right off the N4 and right next to Ilanga Mall. But that, and its cleanliness, are the only two redeeming features. I would not go back
