Won’t be coming back. Sadly this amazing building and grounds needs lots of investment and love. Gardens overgrown and need to be cared for. Service so poor. Staff not trained. Curtains and cushions in room torn and shredded curtains. At dinner staff who took order after waiting about 20 minutes and needing to ask to see menus, when finished first course came to table and asked what were we waiting for!! Hotel trying to have fine dining but service doesn’t make this viable.

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. From the start, I was greeted by unfriendly staff. Fresh milk was advertised, but after checking in, none was provided. I went to reception to ask for it and was met with poor attitude. When I asked how long it would take, I was told “two seconds,” yet I waited 15 minutes for the tiniest amount — and it didn’t even seem fresh, just supermarket milk.

The Wi-Fi was also an issue. The receptionist pretended it was connected, but in reality, it wasn’t — she simply selected a different network to make it look like we had full bars, without actually entering a username or password. This was done to two of our phones, which felt dishonest and insulting. As someone who wears a headscarf, I couldn’t help but feel her behaviour may have had a racial undertone.

Breakfast the next day was extremely limited, with clear cross-contamination between meats, making it unsafe for anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions. The dining area was not clean — glasses and plates were visibly dirty.

I also called reception four times from my room just to request water and ice, and no one answered or followed up.

It was especially disappointing because the hotel building and surrounding area were beautiful, but the poor service and unprofessional staff completely ruined the experience. I would not recommend this hotel.

Such a beautiful spot.

We had a lovely couple of nights at this beautiful hotel. Our room wasn’t ready until 4.50 pm which was a bit disheartening after a 3 hour drive and it was disappointing we were just offered a cup of tea and a sit in the lounge. This could have been handled better . The food was delicious, it was very quiet and beautiful lounges a shame there wasn’t anything to encourage guests to stay downstairs after dinner. The staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Our experience at this hotel was far from satisfactory. Upon arrival, there was no one available at the reception to assist us, and even when staff did arrive, they took quite some time to take us to our room. We had booked half-board, but the service was painfully slow, it took over 40 minutes just to receive a drink, and our main courses arrived two hours after we sat down, after being asked twice what we ordered. The atmosphere in the dining area was uncomfortable, with many guests around us loudly complaining about their meals. Throughout the meal, we did not receive a second drink, and I was eager to leave the noisy and chaotic dining room.

The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable but could have used some dusting. At breakfast, we struggled to find a clean table and had to wait in the hall for about five minutes. The server mentioned she was on her own, even with a full dining room, which made the service even more frustrating.

When it was time to check out, there was no staff available to assist, and trying to speak with the manager was impossible. Overall, it was a shocking experience, and I cannot recommend this hotel based on our stay.

Stunning location with beautiful views, amazing property taking you back to a more gentler time in days gone by, from the moment you drive down the driveway. The attention to detail in our room was impeccable and there was nothing that the staff wouldn't do for you. For a relaxing break away from the norm I can not recommend this place highly enough. The room I stayed in in this beautiful building was possibly one of the most beautiful I have ever stayed in. However when it came to the service of the staff there was a lot left to be desired... and this was in no means the fault of the staff of which there were only two... to run the bar and service the needs of the guests. I did feel that it was odd that every time I called the hotel before arriving that there was never anyone manning the phone, but regardless we were not put off. If I was to visit again, I would want to know that I wouldn't have to wait at an empty bar for 12 minutes before being served (I know the 2 staff, one of which was a trainee) were busy with the dining but at £270 a night, that isn't good enough and not my problem... I don't wish to seem petty but lots of other short comings occurred like being first into the dining hall and one of last to have our order taken, waiting until the end of our starter before our drinks arrived and taking far too long to reseat us when my wife couldn't read the menu because of the dim light. I get that there was only two staff and there were 10 couples in the dining room but this is a failing from a managerial point of view which I definitely didn't expect from such a seemingly highbrow establishment.

Poor service due to no staff. Has gone down hill

Stayed here a few years ago and had an incredible stay, so returned. However was very very disappointed. The hall is as emasculate as it was before but the service is non-existent. Guests are wandering around trying to find someone if they need assistance. The staff member who served dinner was attentive but was only one of her, so if you were in the lounge there was no one to serve a drink or attend guests. Previously we had a tasting menu which was delicious and 5*, dinner at this stay wasn’t a scratch on it.
I’m disappointed as I always tell friends and family about Llangoed Hall, but now I will have to advise them it has changed drastically.

They think its posh but its not worth the money. Service is very poor. No one on front desk. Under staffed. Staff seem over rushed.

Hotel was very noisy with loud noises from staffed area below our room until midnight. Not a good night sleep.

Decor is worn and does not provide the quality you expect for the cost of the room.

Surrounding gardens have been left to nature similar approach to the hotel.

It has a helipad which we thought was an unused patio at first.

Llangoed Hall expectations met and exceeded

Very nice hotel just off the main Road, Beautiful surroundings in the Welsh countryside, Stayed 2 nights in the very luxurious Suite overlooking the mountains and fields around the back of the hotel. The staff were absolutely amazing people, in particular the Bar / restaurant manageress who we had any hours of chats with her in-between her hectic working schedule keeping things running very smoothly at the bar / restaurant end of the hotel, we attended both an evening meal and a Sunday lunch, both of which were made to perfection, in particular the meal was made even more pleasurable by who I assume was the head waiter, \"Graham\" a young man from South Africa, was very professional whilst waiting on my wife and I, A true pleasure to have met him.
Overall, an amazing weekend that is sure to get the batteries recharged for a future visit to Llangoed Hall
A true classic of fine dining and luxury .

Absolutely awful ! The most horrendous stay in all my travelling life and I’ve stayed in a Russian army hotel in Cuba ! The food was awful and the lamb needed a steak knife. When I complained I was asked to leave the restaurant and could have “my dessert in my room”

We stayed in the north wing,room 16. Was above the kitchen I think so some noise from a machine of some sorts could be heard but we’re not light sleepers so that was ok. Strange set up for hairdryer as only useable mirror was in the wardrobe, and due to size of room it was almost having to stand inside the wardrobe to do my hair. A mirror by the sockets is needed. Smallest tv I’ve seen for a long time , but we weren’t there to watch TV so that wasn’t such an issue.

Another wonderful stay at one of our favourite hotels staying at this lovely hotel. Although it’s our first since all COVID restrictions and lockdowns have ended but everything was almost as before. A few tweaks here and there but nothing to detract from our stay. Breakfast and dinner included this time which was a real treat as the food and service is excellent. From check in to check out our experience her was 1st class. Our room was luxurious spacious, comfortable and felt like staying in a stately home with a huge comfortable bed and antique furniture.
Our evening meal was delicious with tasty canapés and extras such as miso bread and pre-dessert.
Staff were professional, attentive and best of all friendly in this new covid world.
Covid guidance was followed and it felt very safe staying there as tgere are numerous large comfortable lounges and outside seating areas.

This was a last minute booking. It was a great hotel, beautiful building and grounds. Unfortunately due to current times, dining inside is not an option, and the weather was poor, so in room dining it was. This was great, service was excellent and the food was very, very good. My steak was cooked to perfection. Our breakfast was just as good and plentiful. The staff were extremely accommodating, and explained everything regarding the current conditions. Everything was just lovely, and a great little night away to relax and unwind.

Absolutely fantastic! I took my fiancee here for a surprise weekend away and it really didn't disappoint. We had a the basic room, which was far from basic; a great bath, four poster bed and excellent view across the Wye valley. We ate in the restaurant on both nights, the food and service were both excellent. In hindsight, I should have gone for one of the full board package deals which represented better value for money. We made the most of the hotel, the snooker room, reading rooms and grounds, as well as walks along the nearby river Wye. A highly recommended place to stay for a quiet weekend away.

Maybe it was due to current restrictions but compared with our last stay at Llangoed Hall this visit was a let-down. We were effectively reprimanded for not having booked dinner in advance, although this had not been specified on the Hotels.com website and were told we could only eat from a limited menu between 5 and 6.30pm which was not quite the same. Although there may have been a need to space the tables in the dining room I don't understand why we could not have had the standard dinner in the lounge, which was deserted at the time we ate.

Don’t miss this-if you can afford it!

We were lucky to get the last room for a two night stay. Small room. Comfortable bed and lovely big bath. Room 16 not a good position though. The rooms at the back of the hotel have lovely views and are more spacious. I would want to stay in these next time, but much more expensive, of course. Staff outstanding. Young and enthusiastic - they contributed to the easy and comfortable atmosphere. The whole hotel feels as if you are in a friend’s lovely home. The tasting menu in the restaurant is 7 courses and absolutely delicious.

We stayed overnight to celebrate our wedding anniversary and had a great stay. The hotel had given us a complimentary room upgrade and left a greeting card in our room which were both appreciated. We had a lovely evening meal featuring produce grown in the kitchen garden which we had walked around before dinner. Breakfast was excellent quality also featuring local produce and eggs. Staff were very kind and we used the hotel as a base to visit local towns returning for afternoon tea to round off our stay. Lovely house and grounds.

The front staff are very unaccommodating and very inflexible despite being a guest at the wedding they would not allow for us to check out late by 1 hr so that we could get changed.
The rooms are very dusty - I spent the whole night sneezing - there were moths in the room and two spiders in the bathroom.
I don't think the sofas have ever been cleaned.

Absolutely Fabulous!

Absolutely excellent. Quiet Sunday night stay, free upgrade, friendly staff, beautiful surroundings and decor, tasteful Christmas atmosphere, excellent cuisine, fantastic hotel art collection. We will be back!

Have stayed several times before and really enjoyed, but this time we were put in a room above something like a laundry room, or boiler room that was so noisy all night it wasn’t possible to open the window, so spoilt the stay. The service after dinner and having retired to the lounge is never very good, staff disappear to the kitchens, and if you want a drink you literally have to go and find them, even going into the staff area of the hotel. The service for the rest of the time is good. The atmosphere is so relaxing it’s a lovely hotel, and could be perfect if the after 10pm service was improved (although if you want fitness facilities there are none except country walks)

The hotel is beautiful in an idyllic setting. It was beyond expectation with a traditional décor and splendid works of art, providing a warm reminiscent of bygone times.
The Manager and staff were the epitome of professionalism with a genuine desire to make your stay the most memorable possible. They were courteous, very pleasant, happy and helpful, with nothing being to much trouble.
The food was outstanding in every way along with the service. The menu had some delicious choices and I would like to give special mention to the homemade bread.

Splendid Splendor.

Beautiful building and surroundings, this should be regarded as 5 star luxury in my opinion. Everything about this hotel screams historical splendor, service was brilliant, staff where very friendly and helpful regarding the area and planning days out. We went as an Anniversary treat and would definitely return again. Food is expensive for those on a budget, also a dress code is required for dinner which leaves the surrounding area to find somewhere to dine and it was very hit and miss with a fair bit of travel, however the room service menu was a bit more reasonable but we didn't use that option. The room itself was fantastic, well decorated with a really nice en-suite and everything you would need including bathrobe and slippers. Only complaint would be a couple of cobwebs on the really high ceiling. Overall a fantastic experience.

We were put in a room with a 4 poster bed (not good if you suffer from Fibrosis and sleeping under a dusty canopy!
The pillows were very firm and uncomfortable (like stones)
Breakfast was fine
