I am sad to say that while it was my fault for leaving my AirPods in the room, I subsequently emailed the hotel 3 times over 3 days, each with no reply. Not even a “we didn’t find them” or “sorry we can’t send it to you.” For a chain hotel I am disappointed at the lack of decency. Beware of the integrity of this hotel’s staff.

The personal behavior was excellent—very friendly and warm. I even arrived earlier than the check-in time, and they still checked me in. I checked in almost four hours before the normal time. During the four nights I stayed at the hotel, everything was really good. The floor where my room was located was quiet, and the room was clean. Everything was great.

Access to public transportation was relatively good, considering that public transport in Muscat is not very strong. However, the hotel’s location was about a 20-minute walk from the bus station, which really helped me get around the city.

I highly recommend this hotel.

Property was located in good area, close to several malls and shopping areas Rooms very small, hard to move around.
Poor management, first day I arrived used sink ,it was plugged, hardly drained, brought it to their attention, nothing happened. TV did not work the whole duration of stay. They didn't care about these issues. Will not stay here again.

It was very clean and comfortable, the reception staff were extremely helpful and very efficient.They will print boarding passes etc for you. Breakfast was very good and very reasonable, again the staff were extremely nice. It had very good free wifi. There was always a normal taxi waiting outside. It is a 3 minute walk to a hospital/clinic that does PCR Testing (c£36) and it is about a 5 minute walk to a very big shopping mall. The electric plugs are standard UK plugs everywhere in Oman. There are a cluster of shops 5 mins away that include local restaurants, coffee shops, McDonalds, Burger King and a Shell petrol station that has a supermarket attached. All Shell petrol stations in Oman seem to have a McDonalds and a supermarket attached. They also seem to have an ATM nearby as does the one near the Ibis.
I would not hesitate to stay at the Muscat Ibis again. There were no bad points on my trip.

The property is great, yet late evening, the taxi drivers waiting in the lobby, express very loudly their discussions. Frustrating if you are sitting in the restaurant next.
Otherwise, Ibis is my favorite hotel.

i have hardly anything great to speak of this property.
I had to book this hotel at the end of my 14 days trip as my pre scheduled return got deferred. I booked the hotel through hotels.com.
I booked a standard room for myself. The check-in took a bit longer time as there were few more people was at the counter. Though acceptable. I got the room and entered. Frankly the size of the room can be described as a furnished servant quarter. I have never seen such a small hotel room and such a super compact bathroom.
Secondly the wifi of the hotel. I saw some feedback that the hotel has a poor wifi, I assumed those could be exaggerated allegations. But after my stay of three days, I am absolutely convinced that the hotel offers a horrible connection. There was a flyer in the room to boast about the internet connectivity. They should be ashamed to place that in the rooms. I complained twice in the front desk, but the people were helpless. The complimentary wifi offered at the city bus was of better quality than that of the hotel.
On my last night of the booking, I returned from work and found the room was not serviced. I called up the front desk to send me at least a bottle of water. Promised to be in 2 minutes. The wait continued for 45 minutes, followed by 3 phone calls to the front desk.
I have seen the Ibis as a branded hotel in various part of the world. But the experience in Muscat was pathetic. There are better accommodations available in the surrounding area.

Complaint ignored, bathroom door weird!

We had several complaints when staying at Ibis Muscat.
First of all, the breakfast buffet wasnt good at all.
Second, we complained about the room being too darn cold even after turning of the AC for a whole hour, and they failed to do anything about it. It stayed freezing cold for the rest of our stay.
Also, we got a room with double beds, but were shocked to find that the bathroom door had no lock on it!
What if someone is sharing a room with a colleague?
Thats seriously uncomfortable!

Recommended hotel in AL Khuwair district of Muscat

My husband and I stayed on the top floor (5th) of this hotel for four days and found it the perfect fall-out place to explore Muscat and surroundings by rental car. This hotel is located in the Al Khuwair district with some restaurants and shops in walking distance and a shopping Mall with a big Lulu supermarket. In a 10-15-minute drive via Sultan Al Qaboos highway, you can reach the Old Town of Muscat with Gate Museum, National Museum, Palace etc. The hotel is conveniently located at a 15-minute drive from the airport.

As comfortable as it was, and efficient as the staff was, the room's temperature was difficult to maintain, and the hot water was luke warm. The breakfast was delicious, but the staff did not stop guests from taking their used plates already eaten in, to refill food. I brought it to the attention of a supervisor in the dinning room, but she did nothing. I then told the desk staff, who promised to change it. I went for breakfast early the next day.

i work in sohar, and come to muscat during weekends, for this budget the quality is very good, and actually one of the best hotels for its category.

most of the time it is a good stay (unless non-smoking room is not available), the location is good near to everything, the staff is polite and helpful.

The underground parking is good during summer, to keep the car a bit cool.

In Muscat for 4 day, 2 personal and 2 business. Nothing in the hotels neighborhood. Location is 30 min away from the Corniche and old souq. 5 minutes from the Inter Con where there is a beach, restaurants and you can catch the Big Bus for a day tour of the city. Muscat is quite expensive, a 5 minute taxi ride for QMR 5 = US$15!

Hotel is about 15 min from airport. Several restaurants within walking distance. Hotel staff is hit or mis. Some staff was very helpful or shifts were not. Sometimes when asking questions about a service, location, etc, I received conflicting information. Website states hotel offers a shuttle to and from the airport. When I requested this service, I was told the hotel does not have shuttle service. This was more or less of what went on.

We chose this hotel, because we knew exactly what to expect, given the brand. That is what we got. Good bed, shower and facilities. The highlight was Abdullah at Reception, brilliant, knowledgeable and very obliging. Hotel Rooms in Oman are very expensive, so Ibis is well worth considering. Food in the restaurant was better than we thought.

It is ok for an Ibis

The hotel is a basic one, usually good for business or just to sleep one night, and this is what we did, just slept one night before beginning our roadtrip. The room for sure was small for a family of 4, but we could manage, it is a basic hotel but it was nice, clean, updated and with free wifi. The hotel is in a really great location with regard to the mall (Grand Mall), Qurum Beach, etc., but getting back to the hotel from the Mall was a bit of a nightmare - even though you can see the hotel from the mall. Once you know the way it is ok but the first try was a bit crazy.

Great pet-friendly hotel.

This is a pet-friendly hotel with friendly and attentive staff. I stayed here because I was visiting Muscat with my little dog. The only let-down was the room does not provide shower cap nor body lotion that I needed. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

All went good except that embarrassing stupid encounter when they forced me to pay cash or credit card for my breakfast on the spot claiming that this is the policy for all reservations that are prepaid to Expedia since they have no guarantees !

As if I was gonna run away and not pay $15 ....... Hummph !

The hotel is a bit basic in terms of room design - carbon copy of a Travel Lodge in the UK, single pillow on each bed was insufficient. Poor guy in the next room spent most of the night vomiting in the toilet which kept me awake as the walls are paper thin. When I stayed in hotel Ibis in Abu Dhabi and Dubai there were excellent. This one in Muscat was OK but more expensive and not as good. One of the biggest problem was very weak internet. This is very important for business people. The breakfast for 5 Reals was not very good. Overall for me it was a disappointment.

The room was very nice, clean, bright and had all the basics. It was quiet (far from the elevators) and had good views (one of the top floors). However I found the hotel a bit faraway from the main touristic spots and had to take a taxi even to get to one of the hop on hop off bus stops. Staff were friendly and helpful most of the times, mind you my wake up call was 20 minutes late. I also found a bit inconvenient that for instance the restaurant would not allow teaspoons (only regular big ones) to be brought into the room and that they preferred cash payments instead of charging directly to the room. Other than that, I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to those looking for good value for money without compromising quality of facilities and service.

I had a very brief stay for a couple of days. The hotel was good & staff were ok. The only thing we found annoying really is the bathroom did not have a lock. It was pretty uncomfortable for me as I was with my 4 year old daughter and I was told this was the hotel standard. If you don't mind this, this hotel is a good place. It's placed very close to grand muscat mall. It's around 300 mts away. Hence, there is lot of options for food.

Experience definitely can not be improvised. Like you would expect from ibis, everything just works seamlessly, the amenities and room are all spotless. Yes, as someone mentioned, the rooms are small and the breakfast expensive, but the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the place and the peace of mind to know that your stay will be without hiccups more than makes up for the lack of space.

You get what you paid for and more, will definitely stay again.

Bit overpriced but okay for a night or two.

Not a bad hotel but a tad over priced for what you get.
Free wifi is a great plus and still quite rare these days.

Make sure to request a non-smoking room because if you get stuck with one the stale smell is horrible.

The room I had was small but comfortable with decent shower.
Breakfast wasn't great, no real service to speak of, and not much choice or quality but just acceptable to keep you going.

There is no bar to speak of and they don't serve alcohol. You'd be better off at the Radisson down the road or one of the bigger brands if that is a requirement.

Had a very different exp at ibis this time. Checkin took almost half an hour due to some confusion between hotels.com and ibis. When asked for extra pillows, the answer was we are full and hence extra pillows are not avl. (Unbelievable!!).

Typical Ibis: you get what you pay for! Everything was average except the gym which was, surprisingly, better than I expected. I rated the location \"very good\" as it was very close to my business meeting location. The rooms, the breakfast, the room service menu are all just basic. The check in did take more than what it should as there was one person only doing everything at the same time. Overall: a good value for money, especially if you are there for a short stay.

Typical Ibis hotel. Small clean rooms. Expensive breakfast, but a good spread. The desk chair in the room was so uncomfortable that I had to put the blanket on it to be able to sit. Location is in safe area near many other hotels, but not walking distance to any tourist sites or nice areas. It is 7-8 minute walk from the Muscat Grand Mall. Qurm Beach is a 8 minute taxi ride. Old Muscat and other areas are 20 minutes away.

Although it was just one night stay but Accor hotels never disappointed me wherever I travel and stay with these hotels. This hotle is located in nice location and me & my son stayed over night. It was very nice and breakfast was very good. Room was not wide enough but comfortable. We had pizza for dinner from in-house restaurant; was very good and fresh.

The hotel is easy to find in the Al Khuwair area. It has a very modern look. It is also quite new and very clean. The staff is friendly. The check-in was quick and easy (especially booking through Expedia). The free wifi is excellent and works well. It is also easy to use. The room is on the small side but for one person, it is perfect. There are no extras in the bathroom (e.g. shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste) but there is handsoap and body wash. The bed was a little on the soft side for my preference but great nonetheless. The wood in the room is a light oak or beech colour which gives it a nice modern look and lightens everything up. The TV is built into the wall and has about 30 channels, mostly in Arabic but a handful of English ones. Checkout was very easy as well since the room was prepaid.

Simple hotel, convenient enough location (between a business strip of mainly restaurants and on main street side and other hotels and residences on the other), clean and quiet, friendly staff. Glad for the wifi. The room we had was surprisingly small, however, and the staff couldn't provide us with wash cloths for use in the shower. If you want a much better value for money, pay a few riyals more and stay at the Hotel Holiday Muscat, just next door.

Nice hotel at good price.

This is a nice hotel, with a good price for Muscat. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Only complaint is the blue light on the TV is really bright and can keep you up if you have jet lag. Breakfast is good, but at 11 Rial is a bit pricey but convenient. The outdoor Turkish restaurants a few blocks away are fun with good food and give you a taste of Muscat street life.

Simple but clean hotel

Simple but tidy hotel, slightly disappointed when we arrived to find it did not have a pool. The hotels.com listing shows a picture of a pool with a small reference down the bottom of the page (whichwe only noticed after discovering no pool) saying the picture is only a representation of what standard hotels are like. Is very misleading!

I stayed one night only however this should not be an xcuse for diminishing some of the musts

cont. like for example jumping to take luggag to the room without even asking. These are some of the negatives however the service at the coffee shop was excellent at dinner ... thogh a bit lagging at breakfast..

Nice place

The Ibis in Muscat is a very clean nice place. The resturaunt offered a nice variety of food at a reasonable price. The rooms were well designed and the overall design was attactive. the staff were friendly and responsive.

IBIS Muscat

This is a typical type of IBIS hotel. Located in a so-so area, decently clean interior, not shabby but not gorgeous, and it exactly pays for the price.
