The staff was fine. The Red Roof Inn was AWFUL! Do Not stay there! The location is in a very distressed area. Not safe. The room was terrible, not clean, old stained furniture. We checked-in, went to the room and were disgusted. The bathroom floors were dirty and stained. the faucet was about to come off. The electrical sockets were falling out of the walls. I took my dog out to pee/poop, there was dog crap all over the back area, awful. We had an event to go to, can back and left the hotel, did not stay. The room smelled of cigarette smoke.
This place should be condemned and torn down! We ended driving 3 1/2 hours at night to our home. Will never stay at a Red Roof Inn! A waste of our money. I think Hotels.com should refund us!!!!!!!

Room 111 for non smokers smelled like cigarettes. Switch to 215 that included complimentary roaches, bathroom door lock broken and dirty floors. Getting a refund for the canceled second night was extremely difficult. I feel the reviews were fake. 3rd time Hotels.com failing me.

We reserved two nights requesting a smoke free room. The room assigned smelled horribly of smoke. We requested another room. The receptionist was rude and after arguing with us, gave us another room The second room was filthy and infested with bugs. Dead bugs squished on the walls, crawling bugs on every surface. We requested a full refund. The receptionist threatened us and denied the refund stating Expedia needed to issue the refund and they had no authority Expedia contacted the hotel on several occasions and hotel refused to answer the call from Expedia or when the phone was picked up they always made the excuse the did not have the authority. The hotel always made the excuse that the manager was not on duty. We have travelled around the world and in over 50 years of travelling this is the worst experience we’ve ever seen in a lodging, DO NOT STAY IN THIS DISGUSTING HOTEL.

Room wasn't ready. Rooms smell bad and bathroom under constraction. Somebody keyed my rental car in the parking. Police told me that the hotel won't give them the video, they are not collaborative. I asked to see the manager. She refused to see me. It was a nightmare. Dogs barking in the rooms and people fighting. I ask for a refund plz!

I’m not sure what they had going on, but the person at the front desk completely nodded off in the middle of checking me into my room.
The room smelled musty
There wasn’t a single trashcan anywhere in the room to be found
The towels were stained
The people that clearly lived above me argued all night
I was awakened at 2 AM by someone doing a drug deal literally right outside my door.
At one point, the parking lot was on fire

Remarkable transformation!!!

I had stayed at this property for a month just as the pandemic was winding down, and it was not a pleasant experience. HOWEVER, the transformation in the overall feel of the place has improved dramatically. Everything felt better, it felt safer, cleaner, more modern. The bed was comfortable, the bedding was very nice, and everything in the room was in proper working order. The exterior, the pool, the parking lot, all looked well maintained. I definitely felt like the management “cared” about the product they were offering, as it should be. Before, it was as if they could’ve cared less. I will definitely be back, and I would recommend that everyone consider Red Roof Inn on their next visit to St. Pete.

If u could upload photos, I would. Sheets stained with obvious bodily fluids and hair, wrong sheets on it. Mold in the bathroom. Dirt, bugs, unknown substances all over. I had to wait to check in until Celeste was done making her hair appointment. I walked in the room and within 5 minutes returned my key and left.

The only thing nice about this place is the employees in the office and the couple of maintenance guys that did their best to help us be comfortable the owners have a whole bunch of stuff all around the place it looks like it's abandoned the AC smell like mildew the tub have holes and yellow stains it looks like they painted it obviously the owners don't pay for the greenery around the place there was a whole bunch of boxes and stuff in the entrance I was horrified I thought the place was abandoned and closed I have never seen a place just because you caused $98 a night I've never been in the place like this kudos to the employees the owners of this place should be ashamed of themselves

From the moment I arrived, everything was a disaster. I had to wait over two hours just to check in. I signed for one room but was given a different one, and they kept the wrong room on my record, which caused even more confusion.
The property was dirty, smelled terrible, and was clearly not well maintained. The room was not properly cleaned, there was no blanket provided, and the overall atmosphere was very uncomfortable.
The front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and didn’t know whether to deal with drug-related issues or the problematic tenants. I never felt safe or properly cared for during my stay.
I will definitely not return, and I do not recommend this place to anyone.

Overall, was good, except no frig in room or microwave due to Queen Bed room, when I booked it mention difference in price of rooms, must not have paid attention to the detales, but there were no King rooms available when booked or at desk, so we took it, but the bed had very bad springs, made a terrible noise under entire bed with any movement, sounded like springs were metal and only thing holding bed up.

Overbooked and the system is outdated.

I booked & paid for 2 nights. When we got there, the room was occupied by someone else and the staff has no clue about it because the system is not updated .

We got there around 11:30 pm. Checked in and were trying to get into the room, but no luck - the keys did not work at all. My husband brought the keys to the receptionist for help and came back with the re-keys, but still not working. While waiting for my husband to run back to the receptionist for the 2nd time, I heard people talking inside the room. By then, the receptionist realized that the room was taken by someone else then staff came and asked me to go back to the reception desk so he can try to find us another room. The system is outdated, there is no way for him to find out if there is a vacant room, he have to physically check one by one. Luckily, there is one left vacant. Staff gave us the keys to that last vacant room. We got there, but guess what - the keys won’t work. My husband run back to the receptionist again for 3rd time and came back but still unable to open the door. My poor husband had to go back there for the 4 th time and came back together with the receptionist with a different key. Finally, it works and we got into the room around 1 am the next day - so frustrated & exhausted.

Our problem was not ended here. We got the same problem when we came back to the hotel the next day around 9:30pm, the key won’t work.

The room was nice, clean (except for the floors). Toilet was constantly clogging even though I was out all day long. complained first night and they told me there was no other room available so I had basically no toilet to use. Next morning I went to get the plunger cause the desk said I had to clear it. There was a very nice employee who came and cleared the toilet for me. I gave him a tip for being so nice. Toilet was fine until around 10 pm. Called desk again and a guy said he'd bring up the plunger for me. I told him I'm keeping this overnight cause I have to leave early in the morning and I'm not going to deal with this issue. I cleared toilet that night and again the next morning. It was find for the next 2 days until the morning I was checking out it was clogged again. I had to hurry up and check out early so I could go to a Dunkin or some other place to get coffee and use their bathroom. This was basically my one main complaint. The main lobby was also difficult to find at first (I arrived when it was dark), because they had a huge tarp with stuff underneath right in the middle where the cars would pull up to check in. I mentioned it to the woman at the desk and she said the Inn was under some construction. I just feel this tarp and stuff should have been put elsewhere.

Red roof should model their values after Marriot. This particular property is terrible. The tub was dirty because it's so old. The room had a slight odor. There's no way we would have stayed more than one night. I haven't patronized a Red Roof Inn for more than han 30 years and now I remember why.
