Hotel Bussola, while in a safe and clean location, does have some drawbacks, namely the small shower in the bathroom reminiscent of a cruise ship shower, the interior location that requires you to walk about 15 minutes to get to central Anacapri (there is a complimentary pick up service that picks you up halfway from your journey up from Capri to Anacapri via taxi or bus to the hotel and back to the bus stop). Breakfast options are okay, but the room was clean, small bathroom/shower concern aside. Staff was friendly and helpful regarding questions about getting around the area and things to see. Can get tickets for chairlift and boat tour of Capri at discounted rate at front desk if you book through the hotel. At the rate we had booked the hotel room for, it's on the pricier side given the accommodations, you may find better value elsewhere.

We felt this was a great value for level of accommodations. The staff was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was one of the few I really enjoyed in Europe (Americans like protein for breakfast!) Unfortunately there was no outdoor eating area as pictured that I had envisioned but they mentioned there were some things under construction outside that will be open soon. Do know it is a pleasant 7 min walk to town. Also note that it is the high mountainous area of Anacapri which is a long ride down the cliff to any beach areas. This would not have changed our choice but we would have gone to the beach the first day before checking in if we would have known. The taxis are quite expensive to get anywhere and uncharge you for breathing. Great place, stay here. Eat, sleep and be merry!

The owners were very nice and helpful in making plans. They even called and made sure our plans were arranged properly. We had dinner reservations and they confirmed our pickup. We also had a private boat tour around Capri scheduled and they called the company to make sure they didn’t waste our time sitting for two hours waiting to get into the blue grotto. The breakfast was a smaller selection but it’s also a smaller place. They made our cappuccinos fresh instead of using a self service machine. And, they didn’t charge us extra for the breakfast like some places did. The room was decent. The bathroom was small but serviceable.
Since the hotel is in Anacapri the streets are very, very small. The taxis won’t go all the way to the hotel because they can’t fit down the street. The owner sent a driver to get us from a meeting point. It is walkable to the town center and to a meeting point. The taxi ride to Capri is a bit expensive but necessary because it it definitely not walkeable as it’s straight up a mountain.

The hotel staff were super friendly & nice. The location was fairly far from the Ferry & long walk from the taxi drop. Rooms were not good, shower was terrible, shower head was all blocked & was the worst showering experience. But hotel staff were super nice, they helped with our luggage on check out to help us do the gondola & brought our luggage to us once we were done to help us get to ferry on time.

What a beautiful place!

The hotel is most beautiful: white with blue ceramic floors, the terrace is framed with antique sculptures. The room had the sea view. The staff contacted us with tips on how to get to a place from which their driver picked us up. The stay was so pleasant we didn't want to leave.

For someone looking to do Capri on a budget, this place is definitely good value for money. Our only real qualm was that Expedia listed it as having a pool and laundry, but there was no laundry and the pool was closed. Otherwise, hosts are very helpful and provided great recommendations on the sites to see. Utilize the local bus system and you can get anywhere on the island with relative ease. There is also a little sandwich shop just up the road from the place, highly recommend.

The most lovely stay with the most friendly staff! The property was stunning and was lovely, clean and felt comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful, the pick up from the bus stop, booking activities and recommendations on where to go on the island were so helpful and made the trip memorable! The property stated that it had been renovated but bathroom and toilet was very old. Only painted not renovated Towels were extremely old and worn and sheets had an odour. Also there was no inroom aircon so it was warm and difficult to sleep. Town centre was a 15 minute walk but uphill and lots of steps.

Wonderful stay here. Met by the friendliest of staff possible. Escorted to our room were the staff kindly transported our heavy luggage up the stairs. Extremely good information given about what we could do in Capri. Booking available through reception. Room cleanliness to a very high standard. Bed a touch uncomfortable but everything else outweighs this. Breakfast provided when booking- when you arrive at breakfast you’re greeted by the friendly staff with a smile and asked if you would like a coffee. I can’t speak highly enough about the service they provide. Transport from the hotel to taxi stand/ bus stop provided on check out. On check in be sure to have WhatsApp so the hotel can contact you to organise transport from the port. An amazing service all around. 10/10

This place was absolutely amazing! From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were taken care of and felt like we were at home.
The property itself is so nice and neatly decorated - the terrace was also lovely and peaceful.
Rita and the rest of the staff were incredibly sweet and helpful in finding us transportation and things to do in the area. They had tons of recommendations for things nearby and GF/celiac restaurants to visit. They even went out of their way to bring us gluten free substitutes for breakfast, specifically for us.
I would absolutely go back and recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Capri/Anacapri!!

Such a gem! Stayed with my family of 5 and we were very pleased with the accommodations. You must walk a few minutes from the drop off point to get to the hotel but it's worth it. The staff was so amazing, and honestly meeting them was one of my favorites parts of our trip to many parts of Italy. A lovely breakfast and divine Cappuccino (or coffee of choice) were served every morning and all of our questions of where to go and how to get there were answered with pleasure. Someone was ALWAYS available to help. We LOVED it!

I enjoy the hotel, the service was excellent! The only thing that was not so good was the breakfast, they lacked sawer options with nothing but bread and butter. The beds were not the most comfortable ones but still the room was clean and the overall structure and location of the hotel are very good! Ps: streets are super narrow and the taxi cannot get you to the hotel door, better to ask them for a shuttle.

Nice hotel, but needs updating

I have very mixed feelings concerning this hotel. It is owned by a brother and sister team. I know that they work very hard to keep up with the property. Rita (the sister) was extremely helpful, providing us tips and suggestions for our stay.

This hotel does not have a pool, so after touring around the island all day, there was no real central place to relax and cool down. You get your beverages out of a vending machine.

We ended spending more time by the marina and Capri which is a far away, but it gave us the island vibe we were looking for, The breakfast served is local continental (some meats, cheeses and breads), nothing to write home about.

The rooms need updating and better maintenance. The air conditioning did not work during our entire stay. We had to have the safe swapped out because the one in the room first had all the batteries removed, so when I replaced the batteries, it still did not work.

The walk to Anacapri, was not difficult, but it could take a long time if you get lost going through the windy small streets.

While I know that the owners try really hard to keep up with the place, it needs a lot of maintenance to get it up to par with the other hotels and B&Bs in the area.

Nice little hotel on Anacapri

Not the easiest location to get to but I did not mind winding through the little village streets. Not in the heart of the village but close walk and safe area. Hotel rooms are fairly small but clean, and very nice terrace with Roman statues. Quiet room, good beds but definitely not for the physically challenged. The toilet and bidet were within inches of each other that it is near impossible to use the toilet with ease. Pleasant reception, although seemed hurried, was gracious enough to help with excursion plans. Nice breakfast. Close to Blue Grotto. Scenic walk downhill to grotto but make sure you get there very early (before 10am) unless you don’t mind waiting 2hours in line.

The property was very nice and clean. Breakfast was great! It was close to the main town of Anacapri. They stored our luggage and were very attentive to our needs. I didn’t like that they told us they provide transportation to and from the hotel which in the US means “free” and then at check-out charged us $30. Also at check-out, we were just expected to pay cash because their credit machine was down.

Classy and charming place to unwind.

This little hotel is a gem. Not what I expected, but actually better. It was more like a bed and breakfast and less like a resort. The rooms were lovely and we had an amazing view of the Mediterranean. We were allowed to roam the grounds, ate lunch at a picnic table in the garden, and bobbed around in an above ground pool. One of our hosts spontaneously brought us a plate of apricots and plums from their trees that were warm from the sun and so delicious! Beds were nice, but Italian which for us fat Americans means a little too hard. Don’t be shy to call and see if they can pick you up in Anacapri, or even at the ferry if they’re able. There’s a charge for that but it’s less than the taxi. Be ready for a wild ride on narrow roads with crazy switchbacks as you climb up and up. Our stay was relaxing and peaceful and way too short. I loved this place.

Nice location near the town center of Anacapri

The location is perfect, about a 5-7 minute walk into the center of Anacapri town where you can access the bus that takes you to other parts of the island (beach, lighthouse, Capri town, marina....), or to the chairlift to the top of Monte Solaro. The staff were lovely and very helpful. Rooms are very small but clean.

The hotel was a little hard to find after the taxi dropped us off but once we go there we were welcomed with opened arms. The couple that was there was so friendly and provides great tips on sight seeing and restaurants. Anacapri was a treat because we were within walking distance of quaint town with great food and shopping and then a short taxi ride to Capri. Hotel was perfect and well-priced and Capri was beautiful. Breakfast was good too.

Staff was great. Very knowledgeable about the area ins/outs, places to eat, how to get around what to see. Million dollar view from hotel terrace. Mattresses were hard and never did find the individual room controls for the air-conditioning. Make sure to call for pick-up so you can get to the hotel and get oriented to where you are before you start exploring

We stayed in the hotel for one day and the staff there made sure our stay was a memorable one. We were amazed by how nice and friendly the staff were. As soon as we checked into the hotel, they gave us a map of Capri and told us where the best sites were. In the morning we came down, had lovely breakfast and again the staff attended to all our needs promptly.
Because we had a lot of luggage they even gave us a free lift to the bus stop!

The staff at Hotel Bussola was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Very friendly, helpful with directions and had wonderful recommendations! They recommended La Rondinella for dinner and we really enjoyed it-- a little pricey (hey, you're on Capri!!) but very tasty food. This hotel is about a 12 minute walk from main piazza of Anacapri, away from the noise of the center. It was nice to get away from the noise and hustle and bustle and just unwind. Hotel was clean and aircon was a plus. Rooftop terrace was lovely to watch the sunset.

Hidden in a neighborhood maze

The owners were pleasant & accommodating. The hotel looks amazing, clean, grand décor in hallways upper & lower terraces very comfortable. The room however was not comfortable, very hard bed, dirty bathroom floor, small plastic shower enclosure. Continental breakfast was unsatisfactory nothing was fresh, only packaged dried-out cakes, crackers. Coffee was okay.

Wi-Fi seems to be limited to only 1st floor and a little bit on the stairs. Signal is really bad. Staff are in a rushing mode and always seem to be in a hurry. If you're impatient, you'll have problems dealing with the staff.

The owners were really helpful and kind. Our sister was not feeling well and she offered to make her a Camomile tea which made us feel more at home. Their advice really improved our stay. They made sure we didn't miss our ferry and recommended a wonderful restaurant that picked us up and dropped us off. The restaurant was Mamma Giovanna which had the best homemade pasta.

Nice hotel with great service

Great hotel with excellent service from Rita. The pick up and drop off service is excellent too. The hotel is as shown in the picture and overall decent for the price.

One thing that can improve is the air conditioning which is centralized and can't be turn on during our stay. Weather was slightly warm in the day time and as we have to open the window, there were mosquitos.

Beside that, I'm sure it's a great place to stay in cooler weather with awesome service!

The theme of ancient Greece and Rome, with statues on the roof garden and through the hotel, help create an evocative atmosphere and showed real passion and imagination from the owners. Marble in the passageways and a good standard of fittings in the rooms complete quality accomodation. Owners were great with tips on how to take best advantage of the tourist sites around Capri, providing maps and guidance. Hotel is not easy to find amidst the residential area of Anacapri, but well worth the effort. Transfer to bus stop after stay. Good breakfast too. Friendly, helpful people.

Only (mild) criticism I had was no BBC or SKYNews on TV for English-speakers...but that's not so important!.

The Most Wpnderful Place to Lodge

What a superb stay we enjoyed. This hotel is right off the path of the town center. The hoteliers were absolutely the best. It felt like staying with family. It just all went right, starting with the complimentary pickup by Ciro. Rita is a charm and Elsa just topped it off...great service, friendly, helpful; and the list of wonderfulness goes on. If you are wanting a beautiful hotel with a beautiful experience all around, stay here. The rooftop view, with swing and other seating, is great too.

Cash only beware!

Booked room through hotels.com with a credit card. Received an email comfirmation with the price and all the credit card info, but this hotel does not accept credit cards. When you check out, you must pay in CASH euros only. When I told the woman who owns the hotel, that this was not clear on the confirmation. She got very offended and quite rude. We had to call hotels.com and notify them of the cash only policy. They are supposed to contact her to update the hotel information on the web.

Location of hotel is next to impossible to find unless a local shows you the way.

Beds were hard as a rock and the air conditioning hardly worked, but we were charged 10 extra euros for it. Do not waste your money.
