I really like staying at this hotel. I have pretty simple criteria: great staff, cleanliness, good water pressure. The staff is wonderful and the water pressure is great. The room was clean but the lobby areas seemed a little dusty, very noticeable in the elevator banks. The room furniture and carpeting in the halls, while clean, are very old and a little shabby and create a feeling it could be cleaner… Having said that, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel. Also, it is super convenient to trains and subways. I will stay here again.

Large high-end shopping center across the street , train station very close. ikebus, a small Visitor-friendlyBus line which is very inexpensive, has 2 routes in the local vicinity and is fun and easy. Taxis are easily to obtain. Hotel personnel are very friendly and helpful.

I stayed at your property from Feb 19 - 21st in room 1609 and Feb 26 - Mar 1st in room 1822. Both bookings were for a superior queen. Room 1609 was very spacious and we received daily water without having to ask. Room 1822 was very small and we didn't get any bottled water until the last day because we left a note. When I went down to the front desk to check on my room size they assured me that both rooms were the same size. They even showed me their folder with the room type details by room. Clearly the information is incorrect and they need to physically inspect and measure the room. We were very disappointed with the cramped space of room 1822.

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo Ikebukuro (ホテルメトロポリタン) and would absolutely return.
The location is fantastic — tucked slightly away from the busiest streets of Ikebukuro, yet incredibly convenient. It feels safe and secure, especially being right next to a police station, and just a short walk to the subway. There are multiple convenience stores right around the corner, including 7‑Eleven, Lawson, and FamilyMart, which made grabbing snacks or essentials effortless. Despite being so centrally located, the hotel itself was peaceful and quiet — something I truly appreciated after long days out exploring.
My room on the 7th floor was recently renovated, clean, and very cozy. I loved the thoughtful touches, such as complimentary bottled water in the fridge and a humidifier in the room — small details that made a big difference in comfort.
What truly made this stay exceptional, however, was the staff. They deserve a 10/10 rating. Every team member I encountered was incredibly thoughtful, courteous, and genuinely warm. They assisted with my luggage, greeted me kindly each time, and always seemed one step ahead in anticipating guests’ needs. Their hospitality elevated the entire experience.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Tokyo and will definitely be returning on my next trip.

Room is small but works. Bed and pillows are comfortable. Love the refrigerator and safe and kettle with green tea. Housekeeping is excellent and provides you with two bottles of water daily.

Great location. The airport bus and IKEBUS stops right in front. Close to Ikebukuro station and restaurant and stores.

Close to 711. I bought a lot of food there. Hotel has a microwave you can use near the lobby.

The laundry service is excellent. Same day return if you submit by 9 am. Laundromat is also excellent. For 500 yen or more, you get your clothes washed and dried (everything in one machine which also dispenses detergent) - typical high tech and convenient Japan. 😂

I stayed here twice in Feb 2026. The first time for 6 nights and the second time for 2 nights. The room was quite small but the bed and pillows were comfortable. There’s a safe and fridge and the hotel provides a lot of amenities in the bathroom - shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes with toothpaste, razors with shaving cream, hair brushes, cotton buds etc. Housekeeping was excellent but they always left me notes informing me that they wouldn’t throw out trash that wasn’t in the garbage bins, or they won’t empty a kettle with water in it etc. It got to be a bit annoying. On my first stay, housekeeping left me 2 bottles of drinking water everyday but on my second stay, only one bottle a day. Tap water is perfectly safe to drink though. I used the hotel laundry service once and they were excellent. If they pick up before 9 am they return your washed laundry by 6 pm. I used their laundromat once too. They are pretty cool. For 500 yen or more (depending on load size), the machine washes and dries for you and detergent is dispensed automatically. All in one machine! Typical high tech Japan. I had buffet breakfast at Cross Dine 4 times. It has a nice spread but they don’t change the menu much so it gets tiring. 711 is only a block down and that’s where I bought most of my food. They have an excellent selection, prices are reasonable and they have new meals often. The hotel provides a microwave near the lobby so it’s convenient to microwave food from 711.

Rooms were clean and spacious. We booked 5 rooms and they were great at putting us all together on the same floor.

The location was GREAT! Less than a 5 minute walk to Ikebukuro station. So when you are tired at the end of the day it was easy to get back to the hotel.

The station has 3 big stores and tons of very good restaurants. A UNIQLO, Muji, Daiso and Don Quijote an easy walk from the hotel. Also, 7-11, Family Mart and Lawsons within a block.

Great restaurants within a 5-to-10-minute walk.

So clean, GREAT SERVICE, restuarants, stores and so close to the train station.

The hotel is near the south west exit of Ikebukuro station. The rooms were clean and comfortable with the only glitch is that the thermostat in the room is only in Japanese, so use Google translate to set it. The staff is friendly and helpful. My second stay here.

This was my first time ever staying at a 4-star hotel in Tokyo, whereas it’s been in my experience as a solo traveler moreover to resort to places where a public onsen is offered on-site and perhaps a gym too, for the amenities.

The Metropolitan Hotel Ikeburo was quite a phenomenal hotel for the standardized room size unexpectedly. The room chamber upon entry was greatly spacious with a Japanese double-sized bed with lots of pillows, a built in sitting bank lining the window with overhead lighting and pillows, plus a very heavy round marble coffee table next to it. An oversized TV screen was situated directly over the built in desk with drawers for a coffee maker and mini-fridge to either side.

The architectural interior design was aesthetically a French-inspired curvilinear wood and canopy woodworking throughout the room’s layout. Replete in deep teals, greys, and lighter greyed wood features. The bathroom was medium sized, larger than many smaller hotel units designed for single occupancy. With a clothes closet next to the bedside.

Pros: ‘Great’ for one person.
Cons: Not enough space for luggage, especially between two travelers occupying the same room.

Hotel amenities such as a full sized gym was highly exceptional for athletes of all ages. However, the pool too small for most any visitor there at the hotel, only being a 25-meter two lanes 4-5 foot deep swimming run. Not very amenable with the number of individuals allowed at any given moment on the spot. No Onsen

I have been staying at the Hotel Metropolitan for over 30 years and it always shines! Everyone is very friendly, the rooms and common areas kept very clean. I did have one issue on this visit as there was an occasional odor in my hallway and room as if the sewer had backed up. I was on the 7th floor. I hope this was temporary and fixable as it was quite unpleasant at times. Thank you.

The room was clean and the selection of amenities was great (razor with shaving cream, towel), etc.. Also the safety feature of needing to swipe your room key in the elevator was much appreciated. The bountiful breakfast buffet and the very courteous staff at Cross-dine was wonderful. The lobby's beautifully decorated Christmas tree made for an impressive first impression. And finally, the location near to Yoshinoya, Family Mart, Lumine, Ike Bus & the train station was beyond convenient. Thank you Hotel Metropolitan for a memorable stay.

I chose this hotel for a couple of reasons. #1 There is a bus district from Haneda Airport, it’s a little expensive than taking a train but it’s helpful for me not carrying around a big suitcase in train station.

#2 it’s a min away from Ikebukuro Station. It’s very convenient to access to take subway

#3 they have laundry room, quite enough washing machines, I didn’t need to bring a lot clothes

The hotel room is rundown. The carpet, bathroom and furniture is old and needs renovation. The soundproofing is inadequate - we could hear the people in the next room talking, sneezing and moving around.

We stayed at this hotel based on its 4+ star rating. Perhaps it was once worthy of this but currently it’s only worth 2 stars.

I finally returned to Japan after living there for several years in the late 1990's. This hotel hit on all of the qualities I was looking for on our return. We booked an \"Executive Deluxe King\" room which was on the 24th floor. Having spent many nights in Japanese hotel rooms over the years, this was by far the most spacious room I ever stayed in (~375 SF).

The location was optimal for us - the nearby train station got us to sites like Chiyoda, Shinjuku and Shibuya easily. We were able to ride a few stops on the Yamanote line to Ueno in order to catch the Shinkansen (for our day trip to Nikko). The limousine bus for the trip back to Haneda airport was very convenient (numerous departures during the day) and quite inexpensive.

We enjoyed wandering the neighborhood at night to find dinner places. There are hundreds of restaurants to choose from and the vibe is much more relaxed than Shinjuku or Roppongi. We were welcomed everywhere we ventured and many of the restaurants had English language menus available.

We loved our very large bathroom - a nice soaking tub and a very large shower room, all separated from the rest of the bathroom. The laundry room was a great feature - it allowed us to pack a bit lighter knowing we could launder our clothing while we were there. One can monitor the washing machines (actually combination washer/dryers in a single unit) through the hotel television service. You can see which units are in use and how many minutes are left on each machine.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Less than a 5 min walk to a major train station, making the rest of the city reachable in less than 30! Not nearly as crowded as some other areas like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Accommodations were comfortable, and the staff were very accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
