not bad for a 2 nights stay but not so good either

The stay was overall good, but for the price offered, the experience could be better in terms of the comfort and the quality of the furniture in the rooms.
Another minor issue: the channels on the television are prefixed and incase you request the reception to add that one channel(Sony channel), they bluntly refused to do so. I expected better from a 3.5 star hotel to not overlook these minute but important details

The decor in the lobby and inside of the hotel was really beautiful and artistic. The food was not good at all, and they run out of items during breakfast, so it was more of a first come first served.

Reception personnel were not fluent in customer service. Gave us a double bed room while our reservation is for 1 king size bed. Suggest for us to join the beds to make as one bed which was not acceptable. After complaining, then change the room. Air con filters are not well maintained and the bathroom fixtures are old. Water seepage out from the shower cubicle to the bathroom as door is old. Restaurant staff however are very friendly and nice. Very hardworking especially the chef checking that customers are properly served. Housekeeping staff were very efficient too.

Check the pool is open before booking!!

Hotel better than I expected, especially the room, AC, bathroom and bed comfort. Also quiet though street outside very noisy. Sadly, the pool was closed for maintenance without advance notice. As I had booked this hotel mainly for the pool this was very disappointing. Staff made no effort to addreess this disappointment with a complimentary drink or meal or anything. They just shrugged and said the pool is closed. Quality of breakfast items just okay but, for the price, it was good value overall. Would stay again if they could guarantee pool availability

Great sleep stay let down by swimming pool closed

Very comfortable room, very quiet, clean and super bed and bedding. Very good sleep in a noisy part of the city. Amazing for this price range. Great shower and hot water. However the experience was badly let down by the fact that the swimming pool was closed with no notice for maintenance and I had booked this hotel mainly for the roof top pool. This was a big disappointment. Also quality of some food items at breakfast was not up to standard. The neighbourhood has nothing of interest and is just traffic mostly but there is a nice rooftop bar and restaurant within a five minute walk. I woyld check if the pool is definitely open before I will book here again but if the pool is working I would highly recommend this hotel for this price range.

Good base to explore Pondicherry.

Good clean hotel at reasonable price. Pondicherry has an interesting history and great food. We recommend a visit to Auroville while you’re in Pondicherry- it’s very close.

A good hotel at a bad location

This is a decent 3-star hotel offering great service and good rooms however the location of the property is a big spoiler. The hotel is in the main city and away from the main tourist attraction area (White Town), to travel to the Promenade or French Quarters you will have to rent a car/bike/auto and make your way through the densely populated town.
In case you are going for work purpose the hotel is value for money but if you are going to explore Pondicherry then it's better to look for a hotel in the White Town area or M.G road as the second option.
The food at the hotel is very average and given the fact that Pondy has great food joints try to have meals outside the hotel only.
P.s: I requested cancellation of the booking for a day as I reached the location a day earlier but the hotel staff didn't agree on waiving off the cancellation charge. The manager on duty although asked me to cancel the booking done via Expedia and make a new booking directly with them in order to avoid the extra charge which was very unprofessional.

Stay experience with hotel Annamalai

Room cleanliness okay, there was a water leakage on restroom. Bath Area is small, Bathtup was mentioned while booking the room, but only bath area was there. Taps are very old model. Rs. 3200/per day is expense for this kind of rooms. Hotel environment is good. Food is okay.

1. It is easy to get around from the hotel - everything is quite close

Areas for improvement:
1. The AC was not working accurately all night. I observe that it works ok after 5 am... the timing makes me wonder if its intentional
2. Wifi would expire daily and we need to fetch new one everyday

Bad Hotel with pathetic facilities

Too far from the beach. At the cost of rooms in this hotel you will get sea facing rooms on any of the hotels on the Pondicherry (Rock) Beach with breathtaking views and amazing ambience.

Problems start as soon as you check-in. The room does not open up because apparently there is a \"loose\" connection with the switch. Everytime you go out and return to your room it's a harrowing experience, spending 10-15 minutes opening the room.

Even though their advertisements might say anything, the TV does not have any channels streaming. None of the sports, movies or news channels are available because the hotel hasn't subscribed to those channels. All the staff will tell you is that there are problems with the connection hence it's not being streamed to your room. But it's pretty evident that the hotel hasn't either paid their dues or hasn't subscribed to the channels because it entails cost (without actually bothering about customers).

We stayed for 4 nights in May 2017.

Cleaning of the room was bad. There was always something missing : toilet paper, tea or coffee, towels very old ,with holes and grey not white. Breakfast ok but mainly Indiana, fresh fruits. Receptionist people were Nice. Not in thé nicest part of the town, about 2 km from the white town but walkable

Worst Experience ever.

Since I am spending more than 10k per day, No breakfast had been provided. Requested early Checkin it is not provided. The Cleanliness of the Tea cups are horrible. I never recommend this hotel anymore.

Excellent hotel in central location

In the busy central part of Pondicherry, around 10 minutes walk to the bus terminal and 25 minutes to the old town. The hotel is nice and quiet even though its on a busy road you cannot hear any traffic from inside the rooms. Its spacious, clean and very comfortable. I would definitely return for another stay!

Pictures of this hotel bear no resemblance to the tired reality of the hotel. Staff very unfriendly. Management ask for feedback but not even acknowledge you.

Rooftop pool was not at all inviting. Room service food was late and almost cold.

Nice hotel in the city centre

Went there during a long weekend with family. The experience was good overall, one or two areas could have been better. The staff are helpful and friendly. Had ordered room service and service was good. Parking was free, valet parking. Didnt use the swimming pool though.

I stayed with family in Annamalai to visit a nearby temple and a close relative. My wife liked the Hotel and service quality. The staff was kind enough to ask for packing breakfast for my kid which other hotels we stayed in did not inquire about. Room was neat and wifi signal was strong.

Less than what I expected

On Expedia, the rates for this hotel are comparable to others in Puducherry, India. I booked this hotel based on its proximity to downtown Puducherry, and photos posted by the hotel management. The room didn't look like what was posted. Washroom door was worn, and appeared to show mold on the edges. During our stay, we easily heard noises from the hallway in the room. There were noises from construction one floor above, even at 10:47pm. Water in the rooftop pool was not clear; it looked cloudy. The food served from the two restaurants appeared to contain MSG. We stayed in mid December, which is suppose to be the peak season, yet it seemed the hotel was less than 50% occupied. I give credit to the hotel & restaurant staff. They tried to please. That was the saving grace of our stay.

okay for value and especially during busy weekends when all the nice properties are booked. there is decent amount of parking available for those driving in. the restaurant is serviceable for breakfast and random meals but best option is to hop over to tthe French quarters for your main meals.

Loved everything at the hotel, but the toilets were horrible, to say the very least. Need urgent upgrades to the toilets. Guests. are likely to check out based solely on condition of toilets. Also the towels are in a very very pathetic state. Change towels urgently.

Good hotel for all kinds of travellers

This was a good hotel to stay in, and everyone was really friendly.
It is a little way from the centre of Pondicherry, so you do need to make arrangements to travel in to the centre (autorickshaws are found outside the hotel - haggling gets a good price).
Breakfasts were either Indian or a fairly basic Continental breakfast.
Outwardly, the hotel is very impressive. However, the route to the swimming pool took you through some back stairs, which is why I only gave the condition of the hotel a 4 mark.
It appeared to be a very popular hotel with Indian families while we were there.
