All I can say is the room was clean. That's it. The bed was uncomfortable, the smoke alarm went off because of the shower steam, but i had to manually turn it off - no one came to check or phoned, very basic room-definitely needs some upgrading (carpet and furniture worn in places). No basic, free TV channels (fortunate we have a Netflix account, but places usually a few free channels), no spare blankets. I was very disappointed with the accommodation

Good bed, general impression was that the motel unwelcoming, swim pools dirty, signage faded and hardly anle to read it. Gardens full of weeds, lawn not mowed or up kept.
Motel not up to standard. Would not recommend.

I arrived at 5pm after a long day to find reception closed and a note on the door with a phone number which I rang twice…no reply. After a while, 2 elderly Chinese people opened up and with limited English, they gave me a room (which I had prepaid). A woman travelling alone should never have this issue. The room was nice and spacious and bed comfy, but won’t stay here again….too distressing.

Fabulous staff and the room and bathroom was clean. The property and units are old so chips out of taps, old plumbing, old carpet etc but it is clean. Bed linen was new and very clean and bed comfortable. The grounds are a bit overgrown and rough but it's quiet and the staff are wonderful! Some financial investment to upgrade would be make the property fantastic!

Thanks for a great stay, cosy clean room with a beautiful outlook onto green and some big trees. The grounds are a bit unkept but that didn't bother us - the place has a good vibe and was very peaceful despite being on the main road. We would be happy to return. Many thanks.

Acceptable accommodation. Showing its age, a bit dated and tired. No coffee plunger or plunger coffee which is the norm now in NZ. Service by staff was good as they found something in our unit after we left and rang to check it was ours (it wasn't but had been left by a previous occupier). Overall acceptable for a quiet weekend away.

Our stay at the Masterton motor lodge was okay, everything was good except for the pool didn’t look like it was cleaned, we stayed at the Suite(attic) and whenever someone was upstairs it was very annoying when the floor was squeaky also our shower the water took for ages to drain. But overall our stay was ok, checking in was fast and easy.

This property has excellent facilities (pool, conference room) and spacious units. It has plenty of space for children to play. Our unit was at the back of the complex and was very quiet. The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. The place is in need of maintenance. The brand new owners have just developed a maintenance plan and we wish them well as they work to improve it.

Unfortunately we booked this property because of an onsite restaurant and bar, only to find unpon arrival that it is no longer in operation , and hadnt been since october 2018. Their web site clearly shows the restaurant and also the sign at the entrance to the property says it is open, even the information in the book in the room still promoted the restaurant. They need to update as very misleasing. The property could do with a little upgrading, although in saying that the bed waa very confirtable and the water pressure for the shower was great. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating.

It has alot of grass area so would be good for car groups or drag racers with trailers to stay or truck drivers toi park big trucks.
The outdoor furniture was rickerty and well past its use by date and there was no can opener, but the units are very good size, the beds are comfy and it is definitely worth a stay,even if its not super modern it is super homey.

A very attractive environment

The Motor Lodge is in a convenient location. The room was well- priced, clean, roomy and comfortable, and looked out onto lovely grounds. The only negative was that early morning shower usage in neighbouring units produced a rather loud \"whooshing\" noise which I imagine was something to do with the plumbing arrangements. I would consider returning for another stay.

Regrettably we can’t recommend this hotel.

Regrettably we are unable to recommend this hotel to travellers. Although the welcome was friendly and efficient, and the hotel was attractive from the road with lovely grounds, the bit that is really important is the accomodation and sadly this was of a very poor standard for the $155 NZ we paid. Our allocated unit had a shabby look about it which spoilt our stay. First appearances are lasting appearances. The leather couch in our one bedroom unit was peeling, the wall paper under the bedroom window was scarred, the carpet was faded and stained, the dining chair braid was hanging loose, the door handle surround was loose as well, and the net curtains had tears in them. The straw that broke the camels back for us was the closed swimming pool because of glass on a very hot Masterton day. Having to drive into town and pay for a swim was frustrating to say the least. The issues with our accomodation were pointed out to our host shortly after checking in, unfortunately no response came back.

Nice place but only during summertime.

Appealing complex. Spacious and well appointed room although looking somewhat outdated. The room however was so cold that even after having the small portable heater on for a half hour the cold was still unbearable and it was the beginning of spring! It took almost 2 hrs to get some warmth in the room. If I stay here again it would only be during the preak summer months.

We booked specially because we wanted a nice treat away at a motel with a spa and a pool. Sadly when we arrived we were told the spa was closed. Thought we'd go for a swim instead, but the pool was green and filthy, so no swimming :(
