Great few days at St Patrick's

Welcome and check-in was great.
This was a last minute booking, which meant only valley view rooms were available. The room was functional, came with a basic lounge area and very, very clean. Aircon was great.

There was a reasonable choice at breakfast, ate and drank elsewhere for other meals.

Rooftop sunbathing area needs more umbrellas. It's fairly basic on the roof, but, fantastic views, with jacuzzi and plunge pool.

No real complaints, good value for money, great location without a beach.

Brilliant reception staff. Not great if you have mobility problems coming into the front of the hotel. Evening meals at the hotel were of an excellent quality and drink for a hotel weren't expensive. Paid to be upgraded for a sea view and it was well worth it.

Nice clean apartment with small fridge. Great location, some apartments have water views and lots of parking near by. The restaurant is absolute waterfront and has great food with reasonable prices. We would definately stay here again.

The hotel is an old hotel that has been cared for and has great charm. The location in Gozo is second to none. It’s peaceful and the bay is stunning. Sunsets are amazing. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Recommended.

Location, staff and cleanliness of the hotel were great. The only downside was since we were only staying for 1 night we took an internal facing room and it was claustrophobic during the night. Even opening the window on the internal yard did not help.

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel would stay again. Parking was easy as the hotel abuts a public car park. Room was comfortable bit dated but comfortable and we slept well. Note dinner served till 9.30pm. Breakfast was very good with a nice choice. There are a few steps around the hotel if you are less abled on entereing to reception and internally. Otherwise good stay.

Brief overnight but pleasant stay. Room was per expectations, very spacious and comfy. Staff was also very helpful and friendly especially the duty manager in the morning who addressed and handled an issue we had during the night in a very professional and customer oriented manner. Will be definetely using the hotel again in future and will probably opt for a sea view as the view is to die for !

A unique and lovely old-fashioned but comfortable hotel right on the bay. Very good restaurant. Roof top plunge pool is tiny but this isn't an issue with the sea at the front door. What is exceptional is the service and attention to detail. Nothing seem too much trouble.Two of many examples include Dino in the bar providing rice to help try save a wet mobile and Bojara in Reception searching and reprinting a copy of a boarding pass.

spent the weekend here... a great location. the water by the hotel is swimmmable. I relaxed in the restaurant overlooking the bay while my wife was swimming. beautiful sunset over the bay. the only downside was parking. the hotel parking lot was full of trees full of birds... bird poop or a long walk. when we returned the car the guy at the rental company laughed and said, that's Gozo.

If you're looking for the best hotel in Xlendi, you probably won't find anything better. However, if you're expecting 4-star comfort and facilities, you'll be disappointed. It's all a bit tired and in need of a facelift.
It fits very nicely into the \"faded glory\" category.
The standard courtyard view rooms are a little on the small size and with no outside views seem someone claustrophobic.
Rooms are cleaned every day, but somehow they still appear a little grubby in places.
Breakfast is fine, plenty of choices and decent quality.
Parking is no problem.
The main plus for the hotel is it's wonderful position - right on the waterfront with amazing views of the harbour - just perfect.
Would I recommend this hotel - Yes, but not by choice, but by lack of it.

Good hotel in Xlendi

Best hotel of the 4 we stayed in. After our first hotel this was like heaven. Lovely room with tea and coffee facilities, great breakfast, fairly comfy beds, decent bathroom with shampoo, conditioner and bath gel. Nice little town within walking distance of capital (takes about an hour) great restaurants in the area, a few shops, though nothing too exciting.

Nice hotel right on the fromt

No complaints about this hotel except for the lost opportunity of the top deck pool area.
It has the most excellent views but it is badly neglected. The pool itself is no more than a plunge pool really - which is fine; there are basic sunloungers, and small hard towels can be obtained from reception (if you remember before you make your way up). There have been nice plants but they are all dead. Drinks and food can be brought up with a charge of €3 if you call on a phone.
It could easily be made to look pretty, add parasols, classy loungers and good big towels on tap, then a wee fully staffed bar and it could be a fabulous wee gem.
Staff are helpful and friendly. The room and ensuite are clean enough, with a fridge and tea making facilities. It was no problem to have an ironing board provided.
Overall I would recommend.

Lovely hotel right on Xlendi Bay - recommended

I love this hotel - it is classy and clean with really friendly staff and good sized rooms which are well furnished and comfortable. It's worth paying a bit more for a room which overlooks Xlendi bay, or the valley if not, and avoiding the rooms which only open out into the internal light well. There are some amazing photographs of Xlendi in the 1960s/1970s on display in Reception - it's fascinating to see how much and how little it has changed. The staff in the hotel were friendly and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble. There was a nice selection of freshly prepared food for breakfast each morning. There is also an outside seating/eating area right on the sea front. There is a very large and free carpark behind the hotel as well.

Close to the sea is the only good thing about it.

Most of the staff are helpful. We were told that there was a free drink for new guests We went to our room and then had to change it because of the condition. There were no mattress or pillow protectors. Not all the lights worked. Chain in the bath but no plug on the end. The bathroom cabinet was filthy and rotting away. The staff were helpful in finding us a new room which was marginally better. Eventually we went for our free drink and ordered 1 white wine and 1 Aperol spritzer and went outside. Seconds later a waiter with a pony tail came up and said \"You have to pay for your drinks\". We pointed out that we were new guests and had been told we would get a free drink. He replied \"it's Grenadine and orange\". I said I don't like Grenadine and the orange juice is too acidic. he shrugged his shoulders and said \"that's the free drink\". We complained at the desk from which there was a blank look. No apology. No offer of an alternative. We left and went to a very nice restaurant along the promenade where the waitress called Anna could not have been more pleasant. The rooftop pool is a splash pool with a few loungers and a couple of umbrellas. Later on in our stay my wife had to rush downstairs as some people coming from the pool took the service lift instead of the guest lift, There was no signage indicating which lift was which on the rooftop terrace. The lift broke down near the 5th floor and the staff acted quickly in getting the people out.

Stayed for one night and the location was beautiful! Right on the bay. We had courtyard view which was quaint and lovely. Room was basic as it's an older hotel. Clean. Had the housekeeping staff come in before check out and our door mysteriously opened by itself at one point haha but it's a nice place to stay.

The hotel restaurant served good food. eg. freshly made ravioli, superb mushroom risotto. I say this because there a fair amount of restaurants around the village open even at this early (March) time of year, and the two that we had the time to visit were distinctly average. So eating in at the hotel restaurant is a good option.
Bedrooms with 3 types of view-Sea, Valley and Courtyard. Courtyard means a view into an internal and covered courtyard.

The place is old. It needs money spent on it to upgrade the facilities. The fan in our room was rusty. The 2 plastic chairs on the so called balcony were fit for the tip. Curtains were dirty. No hot water for 2 days. Phone did not work so we had a room change. Same decor \"rust\" shower in first bathroom for a midget in the second green. Both showers unacceptable. Supposed to be 4 star the place is not even 2. The staff in the restaurant I liken them to models.. no facial expression and disinterested. They have no idea how to interact with people and they are in the hospitality industry. I was not happy with my stay and the manager was supposed to have a chat with me. I'm still waiting and have now left. I paid to stay in a 4 star facility I was certainly overcharged. We could have rented a modern apartment for less. My advice is to do that instead of staying at St Patrick's.

Nice location - extremely disappointing

The staff are rude. Taxi booked was changed to a time that seemed to suit them - twice! The bathroom had cockroaches, (one fell out of a towel!) and when reported to the desk there was no apology and a general feeling that it was my fault. No traps were set. Obviously the overall cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The rooms are tired and shabby, but a generous size and with great balconies. Seriously resting on its laurels due to a lack of competition locally. A great shame as the food is good and the location extraordinary. gozo is a stunning destination and Xlendi a lovely little town. So, grow up St. Patrick's Hotel, ffs!

Seriously rethinking Expedia's recommendation of the place as I am not a serial complainer and don't expect everywhere to be like the Hilton. But grubby - no thanks!

Lovely place, enjoyed our stay despite the rats!

Don't be put off by this review, we genuinely enjoyed our stay, I am sure the hotel will take comments on board. I would recommend to others and may return.

We had booked a courtyard view room, but fortunately were upgraded for the first night to a valley view, which was only of the car park, but at least there was a sizeable balcony (the courtyard view rooms have nothing to speak of), then we moved to a top floor sea view room, which was big, airy, great view (and more expensive). The valley view room was on the first floor and there were overflowing waste bins close to the hotel entrance, which attracted rats that were able to climb up to the balcony (I saw one on the balcony next door, heard them on our balcony at night and there were droppings left in the morning). Another issue was there was no kettle/coffee/tea making facilities as standard and we only realised too late that these could be requested. Also the sink tap was dripping (then the handle broke off completely) and one of the lamps had poor wiring and a short in the switch. Internet in the public areas was poor. I mentioned all these points to the reception staff and, whilst they said nobody had had similar experience, they did say they would deal with them.

On the positve side, Xlendi is the jewel of Gozo. The restaurants are good, the swimming is great and the bus service easily connects to the rest of the island.

Excellent location but not 4 stars !

Great location for swimming in the bay with excellent view. However, do not expect that 4 stars in this area is equal to even 2 stars in Paris or in Munich! Expect hard Matress bed, not good air condition and also flies over the breakfast food ! In many times I bring towl papers and I cover the food as ten cake and Melon that attract the flies and after that fortunately the staff started to use Nylon sheets to cover it but from the third day of my stay. I can say that the staff are excellent and they will work on solving any problem you are managing but do not expect much in this area more than a calm and nice place to stay vacation. I recommend it more than Malta Island. Gozo is very nice

We stayed at the hotel for three nights. This was meant to be a break from daily routine. There was a good choice of food for breakfast, I mostly appreciated the fresh fruit salad. The room was clean, and peaceful, which was important to us since we wanted a much needed rest. The hotel personnel were very friendly and helpful. The sea is right on the door step. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who wants a seaside hotel without a lot of noise.

I loved Gozo, itself. The St. Pat's was a very respectable hotel and offered very good food and a fine breakfast buffet, as well. My first mattress was way too soft (and old?) - I finally got a harder, newer mattress; they need to dump the flabby, spongy ones - especially if they insist on not using box springs beneath. The soaps were way too small - they do encourage \"green\" with the towels and sheets - I only used full room service once in 7 days. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant to communicate with, as well. No coffee kettle in room - one would be nice!

Pleasent hotel, had a room on the internal courtyard. Good breakfast, we had the 3 course half-board menu, good choice each day. We were there during the spring bird hunting season and on Sunday morning the local Gozans were shooting in the local fields.

It was a short relaxing getaway... The hotel is clean and has good service.. the only thing that we would comment about is the food.. I don't think that the food is of a 4 star quality. We tried the A la carte on the first night and we were very disappointed. Breakfast I can say it was good but I would upgraded it for a 4star. I dont expect that the bacon will be finished by 9am or else finding bacon with only fat.

Great Location!

Visited the hotel over the Xmas week and was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Lovely entrance hall and friendly, attentive reception staff.
We stayed in a courtyard room which meant the window looked inwards into the reception area, so there wasn't any natural sunlight, which wasn't a problem however it could be noisey on an evening when other guests returned to their rooms.
Breakfast was good with lots of choice.
The only downside to the hotel was the bar closed between 9.30pm and 10pm which seemed very early. Admittedly it was a quieter time of year but it would have been nice if you could get a drink a little later.

A so and so hotel. Not a 5 Star, more of a 3 star

It was ok for the price. However I travel extensively and must say this is nowhere close to a 5 star hotel. I am sure ti was a 5 star a long time ago. But truth be told it is outdated.

Breakfast was good. And being December it was nice to see a nice looking Christmas tree and decor.

For the price its a good place to stay overall.

Dying for a cup of tea.2 small bottles of water in the fridge. More like a 3star. Def not 4star. Kind receptionist on Sunday

Wonderful hotel, thoroughly recommended

The St Patrick's Hotel in Gozo was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The hotel was booked just online, without any recommendation and turned out to be a gem of a surprise. The building is lovely in itself - and old-style Maltese building overlooking the sea, with an atrium around which the rooms are located. The lift near all rooms takes you to the roof which is a lovely place to sunbathe or relax with a little pool, or downstairs where you are immediately in the restaurant and on the seafront. The bay is beautiful with a spectacular view from the roof or upper floors facing the sea - and amazing sunsets. Nearby are restaurants - food was average in some but excellent in the one opposite on the corner beside the sea. Weather was very warm meaning walking wasn't such a good idea - but some lovely coastal walks nearby. The staff at the hotel were all so pleasant and could not have done more to make guests feel at home. I'd thoroughly recommend the St Patrick's Hotel as a place to stay for a quiet and pleasant break in lovely surroundings. The hotel and the area have little in the way of nightlife meaning it's very quiet and a great place to relax. Top class hotel - superb place to stay.

Beautiful location

The staff were welcoming, professional and helpful.
We upgraded our room to a harbour view and did not regret it. The view was spectacular.
The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet.
The hotel was in a good location, close to the bay and bus stop.

This lovely hotel was a great choice for us relaxing and the staff were there if we needed them for anything it was clean and comfortable with the med right on the doorstep what more could you ask for lovely

Very entertaining - lovely location,excellent view from breakfast table. However, breakfast could be somewhat more varied - scrambled eggs every morning for 14 days leads to a scrambled head. Variety of fruit would be expected. Coffee needs to be of better quality and juices improved.

Good hotel with a great location

We stayed here for a week in June 2014. The reviews on this site overall give a fairly accurate impression of the hotel: it is a good hotel, in a fantastic location, a little run-down but perfectly comfortable. It is right on the sea front and the views from the front of the hotel are fantastic. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

It is worth paying more for a non-standard room: the standard rooms overlook the internal courtyard of the hotel and, as far as we could see (we may be wrong), have no external windows. We paid a supplement for a room with a balcony at the rear of the hotel, which looks out onto the large parking area and the hills.

Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, with both a fan and air con. The bathroom was also clean and comfortable. Our one concern was the colour of the water, which ranged from mildly tinged to deep urine-coloured yellow and had a very strong smell of chlorine on some days. Somewhat unpleasant. We didn't bother raising this with hotel staff as they must be aware of it (we'd seen it mentioned in other reviews) but would recommend using bottled water for brushing your teeth.

Food ranged from OK to good; extensive choice at breakfast, if variable quality. We ate dinner here once; perfectly nice, but there are better value spots on the waterfront. Service is very pleasant, albeit at a very relaxed pace.
