Nice room, with a fab bed and mattress. Lovely and clean, also had a fridge which we were grateful for as it was super warm out. Staff friendly and helpful. There was flavoured water in the reception for guests to drink. Good value for money hotel. Enjoyed our stay there. Would possibly stay again.

CONS:
Found the glass door to the bathroom a bit odd. Was under the impression that there would have been a Nespresso machine on the room but there wasn’t. Furniture in the lobby looked tired. The breakfast was very expensive so we went elsewhere each morning.

Definitely not a 4 star hotel! Positive was the staff was friendly, breakfast was good and the gym/sauna area was beautiful. Location great right by the lake with walking paths and restaurants.
Negative, cleanliness was the biggest issue. Our bathroom did not look cleaned up upon arrival. Someone's razor with hair in it was left in our shower. I asked my room to be cleaned, was gone for over 4 hours and it was not done when I returned. I then asked for clean towels in lieu of a cleaning and they were never delivered until I asked a second time. Lamps and corners were dusty and some even had cobwebs. Bed seemed clean, but clearly there is no attention to detail in the cleaning.
The property was also very dated looking and not like the photos.
Will not stay here again.

Good hotel next to a beautiful lake to walk around. Onl pne point is that the restaurant was closed and the pop up restaulrant was in a marquee tent. Breakfast was lovely but it would have been good to know this was the case.

Very comfortable rooms. We loved peaceful location - near the Aasee lake, with greenery around. A pleasant 20-minute walk into the town centre.

The staff were very friendly & helpful, especially Agnes on the front desk, for whom nothing was too much trouble.

Great breakfast selection, including eggs cooked to order, & lovely range of breads.

The bar was OK but rather lacking in atmosphere, especially for a late-evening drink.

Very nice hotel with clean rooms and attentive staff. It’s a bit of a hike from the city proper, and the on site restaurant is pretty pricey, especially compared to the area.
Only major gripe is that there are not “laundry facilities” as listen in the hotel amenities. There is a laundry SERVICE at ridiculous prices.

Hotel is clean staff are friendly, food is good, however parking is expensive 17€ per day/Night. Pillows on bed awful. Noise in the back rooms is bad at night when kitchen staff are cleaning and moving huge metal bins around at 1am. Also hospital near by so sirens going off every half an hour.

Avoid if you a foreign tourist

I had book 2 rooms, I rang the hotel about 3 hours earlier that we will be arriving at around 7pm.
On arrival there was a tourist bus arrived and we were forced unload or 10 luggage in the rain, as a family of 5, we where forced to sit on the side until all the bus of around 50 where checked in. Finally we were checking in and too find out the the 2 rooms were on 2 levels as the hotel was full. I replied to the receptionist that I had booked these rooms months in advance and here reply was there are now rooms available. I told her that I had rang earlier too advise that we will be late, it was like water of a ducks back.
I asked where can I park our van it was just under 2 m high and could not go under the car park, she replied drive around the long driveway and there are Parking around. Finally park and my son and I ran in the rain back to the hotel.
Finally we moved once again our luggage up to the roooms to find out the triple room was a smoking room. I rang reception and they advised that the hotel was. Full.
Not much sleep that night with the intense smell of smoke.
Breakfast was ok, if you are an expresso coffee drinker, you will be disappointed like in most hotels in Northern Germany, a push button coffee machine.
In the morning once a we moved all our luggage back down, on checkout they asked as usual how was your stay, I complained about everything and looked at the computer screen and said that smoking room
She will deduct 50 Euros for the inconvenince

Overall good hotel. We booked a standard room with extra bed for our daughter of 14. We were told that we had an upgrade to a superieur room, though I can't imagine what the upgrade was. We had 2 beds that looked like 1,20 m each. Our daughter slept in one and enjoyed it very much, but my husband and I were squizzed in the other bed. My guess is that we got a double room with 2 beds and had to share it with the 3 of us.

Hotel room was very Hotel situated in a quiet area away from any main road and by a beautiful lake and approximately 15-20 mins walk from the centre of the city. A couple of very nice restaurants close by if you don't want to spend 23 Euros on a breakfast. Comfortable room, however lacked some sensible touches such as bedside tables rather than a shelf behind ones head. The shower was disappointing for a hotel of this price range.

Meets standards. Nothing was exceedingly wow or wrong. Peaceful area but nothing super close by. Staff knowledgeable about area. Helpfulness was hit or miss, either extremely helpful or very blasé. Fitness center was a plus. Internet on lower floors was subpar and couldn’t be remedied while I was there. Internet on higher floors was exceptionally fast. Laundry service returned within a day is exceptional compared to other facilities I have stayed. Overall sufficient for 4 star hotel. Needs some work if it is striving for higher as I have seen 4.5 star on some ratings sites.

This was our final destination on a trip around Germany and after staying in some great hotels we were disappointed with the Movenpick. We had booked 2 double queen size bedrooms but without being told when we checked in, we were given 2 doubles, which was unacceptable for 2 teenage boys. When we complained, we were told the hotel was fully booked but the receptionist managed to find one 2x queen sized but then failed to tell us it was a smoking room and it wreaked of smoke. The beds were really comfortable but the rooms were very hot and the air conditioning was useless. Breakfast was poor. Whilst there was plenty of choice, the hot food was effectively cold. The hotel seemed geared towards business conferences with a large meeting area outside the restaurant and bar that looked very bare and unwelcoming with only a few high tables dotted about. Not the best experience we've ever had although Munster itself is a lovely and we would definitely go back - but to a different hotel. .

Wonderful tranquil setting near Munster

Lovely setting at the end of a relaxing walk from the city centre along the lake. The room was terrific with everything we could eat. The restaurant was exceptional for all meals. The staff could not have been more attentive and helpful. Great sauna and massage facility.

Well established hotel with great food. Presently weak on customer service.
Had a medical emergency presenting my note from the hospital and they would not change my reservation because I booked hotels.com
Asked to speak to whoever could help (we did not want any refund such needed to stay at slightly different dates - nobody willing to help. Management chronically no on site not to be reached. Check out for early flights is done by the security guard who tired to charge us again for a pre-paid room and we almost missed the plane because check out took so long.
We stayed at this hotel before attended conferences here used the restaurants - it used to be a great hotel. But not helping travellers in need was very disconcerting.

The room was large and comfortable and the staff was polite and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic - we had two excellent meals there and enjoyed the breakfast buffet (which was pricey at 20EUR but had a fantastic selection of items). Compared to other hotels I've stayed at in Germany, this was an extraordinary bargain for what you got.

Although brief it was an enjoyable stay overall. We had arrived late (and very hungry). The hotel receptionist had informed us that room service was not available. Not the words hungry travelers want to hear. However, when we had called room service ourselves to confirm the information we ordered ourselves a meal.

when a suite is not a suite

booked a suite to end our 2 week holiday in style
arrived at the hotel and was allocated our room
went to the room, thought this is a bit strange, does not look like the suite described on the web site.
Asked at reception was told they are renovating half the hotel, including the suites so the just put us in another room without telling us.
Movenpick must have known months in advance they would not be available so why are the still selling them, even now they are still available on expedia.

other poor thing was the restaurant, we have been to this hotel several times and the restaurant is really good. However they seem to book major events and then reduce the restaurant to a buffet only menu.
One night would have been ok but two nights on the trot was too bad.

The location is great since it is a short walk to the promenade. The hotel is being remodeled and so it does not look that appealing right now. The rooms are functional but not that aesthetically appealing. The work-out room is lovely because of the view out the large window.

We had a short stay for one night. The hotel was very clean, loacted about 20 minutes walk from town centre. The parking was difficult due to limited spaces and there was no free wifi which in 2014 is unforgivable. The price of breakfast was outrageously high. In my opinion there are better opitions available for the price you pay for this expensive hotel.

Wifi is expensive & horrible to be improved in '15

Great & Expensive hotel, but there is no free wifi, and even at 3EUR / hours you get a horribly instabile & slow connection.
On the bright side: staff told me they'll improve this January 2015 and never charged me for the 20 Euros I booked for Wifi access which is nice.
Bonus: they have an amazing whiskey collection at the bar.

Modern and quiet

I found my stay at this hotel to be very nice. It is not a luxury hotel, but the accommodations were more than adequate. A modern feel, with everything having a purpose. As for the location, it has its good points and its inconvenient points. The hotel is near the lake, so if you like to ride a bike (you can rent one from the hotel) or run, then it is a great place to take the trails. It is also quiet, being a bit away from the main old town. It is near a bus route. The walk to old town is only about 20 minutes. It is not a bad walk, and there are several different ways to go and vary your scenery. However, I was attending a conference, so I had to go to old town every day, and walked back and forth a little bit between meetings. It got a little tiring. The hotel has some restaurants, but there are few other restaurants or shops in the area, either to spend your time - so another trip to old town. I really enjoyed the hotel and the stay, though. I'm just glad I brought my walking shoes.

Good hotel in scenic location

This hotel works out well since you can get to the center of town by walking the promenade. There is a fantastic restaurant in town that is called Krawummel. My spouse and I travel to this lovely city because it is lovely, but also for the restaurant. It is vegan and has terrific cupcakes, muffins, and lots of wonderful sandwiches, salads, and so forth. I would recommend staying in the newer wing of the hotel, for the older is a little \"tired\" appearing. The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful.

They offeret special cushions for the dogs and even allowed us to bring the dogs to the restaurant.the waitress at the restaurant at dinner even came with water for the dogs.extreemely friendly atmosphere. But dont count on free parking.there are not enough free outdoor spaces.one overnight parking cost euro 13.and no free wifi. That was dissapointing.

Lovely comfortable bed with crisp sheets in a well cooled room during the summer. The service was fabulous. Great secure parking in garage underneath the hotel. There is a nice outside bar which was very pleasant to sit in during the afternoon with a cold beer, and the service was excellent with very professional staff. We had a walk around the hotel, which was set close to a park with a lake. The hotel felt like it was tucked away from the world in a leafy enclave, but it was, in fact, very close to the town. I would definitely return if I was in the area. You have to pay for internet connection, and for the parking. In the evening we had cocktails in the hotel bar, which was pleasant.

My husband and I visit Munster very frequently and have stayed in quite a number of hotels there but this was our first stay at the Movenpick.It's situated next to the beautiful Aasee lake, lots of trees around it, great walking and cycling paths and the air is so good to breathe - it's a real tonic!We ate in the restaurant garden both for Dinner and Breakfast - superb food and very attentive service.Would we go back? ABSOLUTELY!

Good service at reception, in bar, in breakfast restaurant. Also arrived very late on first night and Muenster friends brought food to hotel for us (missed dinner engagement) and staff brought plates, napkins and cutlery to the room for our food - example of very good service

Nice atmospheric surroundings covered in snow but not impassable. Free parking outside hotel was available at all times.

Room was good but one single very thin pillow per person was not sufficient. Rectified when further and thicker pillows requested. Cold floor in otherwise very good bath/shower-room.

Generous breakfast served in pleasant surroundings. Crispy bacon unfortunately not a speciality of the house.

On checking out I was asked to pay for breakfasts. I mentioned that they were included and paid for in the booking and offered to show the original booking/payment advice. The receptionist said ok - no need to show the paper - was she trying it on? - I don't know.

This is the 2nd time that I've stayed at this hotel and find it's well maintained and convenient for business. It's about 30 minutes walk to the center of town.

Das Personal im gesamten Hotel war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Im Restaurant kann man vortrefflich essen und die selbstgemachten Kuchen und Torten sind sehr zu empfehlen. Auch an der Bar ist die Auswahl groß; doch leider ist diese sonntags geschlossen. Der Zimmerservice hat leider nicht gut funktioniert (z.B. Betten nicht gemacht, verbrauchten Zucker und Tee nicht nachgefüllt). Erst nach zweimaligen Anruf an der Rezeption am darauffolgenden Morgen wurde es erledigt. Vom Hotel ist es ein ca. 15minütiger Spaziergang in die Stadt.

Et rigtig fint hotel med gode faciliteter. Wellnessområdet er særligt værd at fremhæve med gode træningsfaciliteter og et lækkert saunaområde, som giver mulighed for både aktivitet og afslapning. Værelserne er pæne, rene og komfortable, og sengen var god. Restauranten holder et højt niveau, og morgenmaden var ligeledes rigtig fin. Personalet var imødekommende og servicemindet, og parkeringsforholdene fungerede godt. Et hotel jeg gerne vender tilbage til – både til forretningsrejser og ophold med fokus på velvære.
