Not a 5star or Michelin hotel. The rooms are very small. Cleaning doesn’t even happen until 4 pm. The spa facilities are exaggerated on pictures. Outside pool is tiny. Hamam did not work our entire stay. The shuttle service to places works, but impossible to get shuttle to pick you up on the way back. The restaurant service is unacceptable. Only Casa Alta ikind of ok. Same menu every day . And apparently half board only applies to dinner. Where in the rest of the world it’s a dinner or lunch. Reception service is awful, messages are not passed along, and zero desire to resolve something

I recently stayed at this hotel and many aspects of the experience were enjoyable. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, staff at check-in and breakfast were friendly, and the amenities — particularly the pool, spa, and gym — are good. The ski-in/ski-out location is ideal for exploring the slopes, and the overall vibe of the property is relaxing and stylish.

However, I need to be transparent about a serious issue that significantly impacted my stay. During our visit, my AirPods were stolen from the luggage storage room. I became aware of the theft as we were departing for the airport, reported it immediately to the front desk, and asked for assistance and any available security footage.

Unfortunately, the response from management was completely unresponsive. I was told someone would call me back, but I received no follow-up communication, and there was no indication that any investigation was initiated. For what should be a serious matter — a theft from a guest’s personal luggage — the lack of accountability or support was both surprising and very disappointing.

While many reviews praise the hotel’s style, location, and service, there are some traveler reports that mention concerns about service quality, responsiveness, and accountability from management. Some guests have even described safety or service issues and a lack of adequate follow-through from staff.

The staff was available 24 hours a day. Very friendly and willing to assist you with your needs. The shuttle drivers were on time and had great suggestions. The ski in ski out access was perfect. The ski shop had great equipment and the locker room made it as easy as you can hope for. The lounge bar was a great place for a night cap and to catch some live music. Breakfast in the morning was top notch.

We had a fantastic suite overlooking the slopes. The room was of a good size and styled well. Breakfast was good and the bar area and selection of drinks was very good.

It is a spa hotel and this lets it down slightly. The spa is very basic and a bit dingy. The pool was also cold. Could do with a refurb in my opinion and this really would be a fabulous hotel.

The ski hire was also 3 times the cost of other shops located 2 minutes away. I queried this and was told “it’s a five star hotel” by the staff. Although I get that when it comes to food/ drinks/ service. The skis were much the same as you can get anyway so didn’t warrant the unnecessary cost. I think it was over €100 per day for ski hire which is crazy.

A little out the way for walking to the town but they offer a free (we always tipped the driver) service up to where ever you wish to go.

Had an amazing stay at the altapura, read a few reviews a few days before we went and were worried, but it was great. Main complaints were about how hot the rooms were, which were understandable, but opening the window solved that. The other critique we read was about the restaurants and choice of food for half board. Breakfast was buffet and had a great selection. Dinner you get 65 euros contribution each evening towards food, which you can choose from the menu of the 3 different restaurants they have. European, Japanese and a cheese place. The food is all cooked fresh and to a great standard. The staff were really friendly and helpful, the hotel is in my opnion in the perfect location, ski in skin out, not far from several ski lifts, but not in thr centre of town so you don't get all the noise and footfall. Beds were really comfy, overall had a great experience and will be back next year!

A truly ski in ski out experience right off Plein Sud chairlift. Val Thorens is breathtaking and the service is unmatched. Breakfast was included and was lovely every morning inside Casa Alta with a view of the slopes. Two turn down services per day and free ski locker with rentals and room reservation. My driver, Florian, was fantastic and was hired by the hotel to pick me up in Geneva, Switzerland. Great rooms and great value. Trip of a lifetime!

Ski room was nice and lockers had plenty of room for all gear for 2 people. Ate at Altayaki the first night and it was very good. Breakfast buffet was also amazing every morning. This hotel is amazing would highly recommend this to anyone going to val thoren ! The staff were brilliant and nothing was an issue - they sorted ski hire ,ski passes and even when our transfer cancelled on our return they sorted us a different one at 5am just outstanding service . We ate in the Italian every night and the girls in the restaurant were just the best . Tbh I could rave on and on about this hotel and cannot wait to get back next year

Lovely hotel with an incredibly relaxing atmosphere. The staff were extremely helpful, the front desk, the concierge and the hotel shuttle in and out of town were exceptional. Breakfast was excellent, better than any other ski hotel I have used previously. The spa and gym facilities were also significantly better than any other I have used. The bedroom was quiet, comfortable and the little touches such as a wide range of movies on the telly made the holiday so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Would definitely use this hotel again

Excellent hotel. The rooms are amazing and the location is perfect (bottom on the village, so easy to access by car and not far to walk to the main restaurants/shops). The staff is extremely helpful and responsive, and the breakfasts are to die for! Would definitely stay here again.
Only small negative is that the pool and hot tub are not hot enough. The pool goes outside and is a beautiful setting, but the water is luke warm at best.

Very reasonable price lunch options. We didn's have an evening meal in the restaurant but the buffet looked good. Free shuttle minibus around the resport in the evening. I highly recommend this hotel.

Good choice of evening meal at buffet style main restaurant with generous allowance to al a carte fine dining restaurant, or speciality cheese fondu restaurant included. Had a weeks stay with my Husband and 2 children (7&10)at this hotel over Easter half term and couldn't find one fault. The staff, food and deco were amazing.
The location for the lifts is great and the ski shop in the hotel couldn't help enough, we hired all our equipment from them. The Concierge organised our ski lifts so we were all ready to ski straight after breakfast.
We had a truely amazing holiday and would definitely return.

Lovely hotel, with exceptional service and ski in and ski out location. Service in ski hire shop was top notch and the equipment of an excellent standard. We ate at the buffet restaurant which seemed expensive for what it was (especially for kids that are fussy) and the fondue restaurant which was a nice experience particularly as our waitress was fantastic. Complimentary shuttle to and from the resort was a bonus. The only downsides, room was way too hot and no obvious means to turn down the heat and our room wasn't cleaned one day despite the room being empty between 9.30 and 3.30. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.

Great hotel

The Alta Pura is a great hotel located in a great ski resort. The staff was great and Celine, the concierge went out of her way to make our stay as pleasurable and convenient as possible. Food was very good with a large selection of dishes to choose from which meant that everyone (including our 9 year old kids) had something to eat. The SPA area is great and the pool with its outdoors section was phenomenal. We loved the hotel and would surly come back.

Fabulous hotel. When I arrived went to room I thought definitely coming again, by the last day I knew I would not.
That 5th star is debatable . Whilst the hotel itself may warrant it, the housekeeping forgot to leave complimentary water, coffee, forgot to top up water in coffee machine. Spa had no cotton wool or tissues you had to use toilet roll to wipe make up off which they defended people steak things, hello that's why you charge so much to cover that cost!
Restaurant the chef can't cook, he either gave steak raw or well done could not do medium-rare. Could not cook poached eggs. Their scrambled egg was runny inside, quite revolting. The spaghetti was tossed into litres of tomato sauce that would make any Italian cringe!
The waffles were kept on hot plate and were dried out as a result. The bacon was swimming in a container of oil. They sometimes forgot to offer us coffee when we sat down.
At 10am the buffet stops. So if you come down at 9.45am your too late because they don't just stop they remove everything so if you run out of juice or coffee it's gone that is not a 5star service!
Finally they booked us a return taxi and charged us €92 on top of the €788 actual cost! They ended up removing €80 when I complained.
What was great:- the position, the pool and the jacuzzi
What was bad:- the hidden hotel costs on lift passes, skis taxis (spent for 1 week skiing €2,000 on lifts and ski and taxi..), housekeeping and restaurant

This resort has everything.

Altapura richly deserves its 5-star rating. The resort is spectacular, and all the amenities are at one's fingertips. The ski school or instructors meet you there, the rentals and ski departures are just at the door, the food, wines, and all amenities are first rate. We took our 9-year old granddaughter and by the end of the week she had made fast friends with 6 other children. They skied, swam, played computer games, took photos in a booth, and fell asleep happy and exhausted. The village is unique in that it is ABOVE the lifts; and the slopes are completely free of vegetation, so you ski above the tree line on a magical lunar-looking landscape, where the mountains fade into the sky.
It is expensive! But worth it.

Awesome with one exception the pick up service. We missed our train on the way back and had to wait 10 hours in Moutiers so arrived home tired and disgruntled after an otherwise perfect holiday. On the way up the hill the driver was practicing \"no hands\" on his phone.

Top notch place! We stayed four nights and loved it. Excellent service by all staff. Delicious breakfast buffet and their dinner \"buffet\" (is it still a buffet when you pick out your preferred meat and they grill it to perfection right in front of you?) was excellent, although quite expensive. Used the ski shop and were quite satisfied with the equipment. Nice pool and spa area. Located just outside of the main area where shops and restaurants are, but still right on the hill.

in the Altapura were as good, everything at the Altapura was first class.
If i have one little moan its the fact that us british love a cup of English tea and that was not to be

Lovely ski-in, ski-out hotel

We spent our honeymoon here in January and it was fabulous. We had a room overlooking the slopes and the outdoor pool, which I'd recommend. It truly is ski-in, ski-out, which makes it v convenient.

We did half-board and ate most nights in the 2Mille3 restaurant and once in La Laiterie. I'd thoroughly recommend both. Breakfasts were also lovely. The bar is also a really nice place to relax before dinner.

Staff were very polite and helpful and they have a driver to shuttle you into town if you need it.

One thing I would say though is that the Altapura ski shop seemed very expensive compared to places in town so we hired our skis in town and got the driver to drive us up there on our first morning and we skied on from there. We also bought our lift passes in town as that too worked out cheaper than buying them at the hotel.

All in all a wonderful holiday and would definitely go back.

This was our 2nd stay at this beautiful hotel ! You would have thought they would pay more attention to the fact we were returners, however originally we we're put in a ground floor room with hotel buildings looking in , the toilets were so high as it was for disabled , they did move us after the first night bit still with a disabled toilet, maybe I am fussy?

The first night we used the buffet restaurant thinking it would be the cheaper option as we were tired from travelling, how wrong ! A whopping 59 Euros a head, however the food was superb , the finest quality! They removed the steak before my partner had his main course and when asked the chef said it had gone ( there were 12 pieces when we went for our starter so this was impossible as we were 2 of 4 remaining diners) . When we complained we were eventually offered a free meal in the restaurant, but was disappointing that we had to pursue and go through several layers of management to get this almost like they didn't believe us!

We normally like to try the restaurants locally when away , however you do not get much change from 50 quid a head and sometimes more ! I would definitely look into the half board option next time as I said the food is fantastic and definitely 5 star. Breakfasts also are equally of great quality and variety. Except no porridge! When we asked they said they couldn't cater for every country , but considering at least a 3rd of he guests were English this was strange .

Julienne and Aurielle in the ski shop gave us 5 star service and Julienne in particular went above and beyond to help me with my ski boots and is always very friendly .

There was a new management 'crew' this year and Camille was great , listened to feedback and was always so charming, wanting to get things right.

The ski in ski out location is unbeatable and the mountain decor is so tastefully done, warm and comfortable.

Can't wait to go back to this 'ski palace'

Un bon hôtel de sport dans les Alpes, ni plus ni moins. Mais pas 5 étoiles. Les chambres, le local à skis et l'espace bien-être sont corrects. Le service pourrait être amélioré.
À la fin, des frais de service sont apparus sur la facture (aucune explication fournie).
En résumé, gestion impersonnelle, on ne se sent pas les bienvenus, mais plutôt comme de simples locataires. Bon emplacement, directement au pied des pistes, infrastructures correctes, service et organisation perfectibles.

Malgré une excellente localisation, une décoration moderne et chaleureuse, des soins spa de qualité et un personnel globalement de bonne volonté, notre séjour à l’hôtel Altapura a été décevant.
Dès l’arrivée, une erreur a été commise à la réception : une pré-autorisation de 1 500 € a été débitée par erreur. On nous a assuré que cela serait régularisé au départ.
Au ski shop, on a essayé à trois reprises de nous vendre une assurance vol malgré nos refus. Mes skis étaient trop courts, et j’ai dû retourner les changer une heure plus tard.
Dans les restaurants, le service était décevant : à Casa Alta, nos apéritifs ont été oubliés et apportés 20 minutes plus tard, sans excuse. Nous avons attendu environ 30 minutes pour commander les desserts alors que le restaurant était presque vide. À la Laiterie, nous avons demandé la carte des vins, qui n’est jamais arrivée.
La propreté laisse aussi à désirer : couloirs sales avec les mêmes papiers au sol plusieurs jours. Dans notre chambre, quelqu’un est entré à 10h30 sans prévenir alors que le check-out était à 11h.
Au moment du départ, la facture affichait 1 500 €, exactement la somme débitée à l’arrivée. En la vérifiant, nous avons constaté une double facturation de la location de skis et l’ajout d’une « contribution salariale » que nous avions refusée et dont le montant ne correspondait pas aux 4 % annoncés.
Nous repartons donc très déçus et ne reviendrons pas.

Estrutura boa mas falta servico, treinamento e desenvoltura. Equipe atenciosa e jovem, precisando de direcao! Cafe da manha baguncado, dificil conseguir mesa limpa ou cafe quente. Restaurante funciona para jantar, o restaurante de raclete é bom, fuja do restaurante japones!
