We got sick the entire stay at the hotel.
I arrived early around 1 pm only to drop my bags but they gave me my room anyway, which was nice, but I have a feeling they didn’t sanitize properly.
In the name of going green I think their cleaning/sanitizing protocols have gotten lax.
I fell sick the day after we checked in, 2 days later my daughter fell sick and just as she was getting better, I fell sick again, at that point I was willing to loose my money checked out.

Amazing stay at Somerset greenways for a family of 4. From the great service at the buffet breakfast to convenience of the 24h restaurant to super friendly front desk staff to flexible/friendly housekeeping team. Our room was clean and welcoming. Any amenities we needed were quickly addressed.

This property was a real find!! We had a two bedroom apartment that way exceeded my expectations. My grandchildren (18 & 19) were in one bedroom and I was in the other. Their bedroom had two LARGE twin beds and I had a king bed. We both had lovely bathrooms - mine with tub and shower and theirs with shower only. We shared a kitchen, laundry, living room, dining room. Both bedrooms had large picture windows and the living room had a nice balcony. We especially appreciated a water cooler in our apartment so that we had unlimited purified water. We had an airport pickup and they sent two SUVs in case we had lots of luggage. The restaurants at the facility were wonderful. The main, 24 hour restaurant, specialized in local cruise and was delicious with excellent service. I did not try the cheese restaurant but my grandchildren like it. The Asian restaurant had really delicious food but we had difficulty communicating with the staff and service was very slow. The food was so good, however that I would eat there again. There is a well stocked little store in the hotel for snacks, things you forgot, etc. we decided to go on a day exploring and the hotel provided a beautiful SUV and a wonderful driver at a nominal cost. Also, we had an event where four of us needed to be dressed in saris and a lovely woman came to our room and dressed us provided by the hotel. They had excellent and functional umbrellas for guest use. The hot water was hot and good pressure. A

The property is good with all the features and comfort that is required. But the staff is very bad. They will make you feel as if they are doing some favour to us by allowing you to stay there. If you were sleeping inside your room and the door knocks and you do not open, the management will open the door get inside the room and wake you up from the bed and communicate whatever they want to communicate and trust me. This will be done by a lady front desk or supervisor who is trained from special land called Nagaland and they don’t feel any problem in doing so and they will effectively argue with you telling you how right it is to actually barge into someone’s room whether you are in whatever position doesn’t matter to them the matter needs to be communicated and it is like do or die or I am sure you know about border patrol

What I did not like was there was no place for my driver to take a shower. Most other hotels of this standard have these facilities for the drivers.

Somerset was in a great location and was convenient to access restaurants and sightseeing. Room was very comfortable. One of things that irked me during my stay was they wouldn't provide me an extra room key even though its 2 guests in the room. Mind you, the key they provide needs to be used for power and if one person has to go down to grab something the other person has to stay in the room with no lights and AC. Elevators are also need your room key to get in to the floor. I had to argue and fill out an additional form to get an extra key. Management should be cognizant about this as this was a major inconvenience to the guests.Normally, hotels provide with 2 keys if there are 2 guests. Phone in our room did not work and even after complaining no one came to check on it. Staff was not responsive to any of our needs. Room was comfortable and very spacious.

First class service. Absolutely faultless. Could not be more polite and helpful. Hotel has a hidden gem with the cheese restaurant which I recommend the cheese calamari? Sounds strange but tasted great. All the restaurant staff and security top notch will definitely be back.

Stayed for 4 nights. Apartment was excellent, grear faciliities and the staff were extremely helpful. It's very rare that I can't find a serious fault, but on this occasion I can't. Gym was great as well, good running machines and well maintained. Food in the restaurant downstairs was superb as well... chicken tikka masala was to die for! I just came to chill out and see a bit of Madras.. don't think Madras would draw me back - but the apartments just might!

The property was nice the only inconvenience that I had was that I found several cockroaches in the room. I informed the staff and they sent someone to spray. The following day again I found another cockroache in the bathroom. Also, I found a tick on my bed cover, I informed the reception staff and they apologized but I don't recall them sending someone to check the room and disinfect or check for more ticks.

Beautiful hotel. Great view even from lower floors. Was much nicer than we were expecting. A washer/dryer in the room! Large room, comfy bed. Great restaurants. Rooftop pool was stunning. Fitness center top notch. Used it twice in our 2.5 day stay. Transportation from hotel to airport is about 2000 rupees. But hotel suggested getting our own taxi - they arranged it for us. It was less than 500 rupees. We really appreciated that. Great deal.

The staff in the property were excellent and the service exceptional. The only problem, which appears not to have been fixed, despite repeated feedback, is the smell of stale food as you enter the breakfast area. This is because of poor ventilation and it is right next to the kitchen. The smell is off-putting. The breakfast area is a bit cramped.

Whilst the Somerset is great for the long stay business people, you are a little limited by the food choices. The breakfast was formulaic and unimaginative and the quality of the fruits especially was ok. A good meal can be had at the Leela around the corner from the Somerset but a decent meal with drinks will set you back around Rs.5000 easily!

We reached the hotel around 7 pm, checking process was smooth and what's best was the room. It was spacious with all amenities that you would expect at home. It was home away from home experience. The infinity pool looked beautiful. Breakfast spread was decent and adequate.

Pathetic service!

The service was absolutely pathetic. Any request that was made took atleast two hours and multiple follow ups before they responded. The towels didnt feel fresh, there was no shower gel in the bathrooms, the washbasin was clogging. I have stayed here before and this time was disappointed overall with the stay.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Somerset in Chennai. We liked the 1 bedroom apartment which was spacious and had a well equipped kitchen. The rooftop terrace has a beautiful view of the ocean and the river. The hotel is in a relatively quiet location next to the river; not many other sights close by but this makes it more quiet than other hotels.
The breakfast buffet was good, with a decent choice of Indian and Western food. We used the restaurant a few times for lunch and dinner and found the price very reasonable and the food tasty with interesting options and hybrid dishes (like bluecheese naan).
The best part of our one week stay was the staff of the hotel, everyone was extremely friendly. For example, Mary from Guest Relations was of great help to us to get an important printing job done. Similarly, the reception staff, the waiters and house keeping staff were all very attentive and always tried to make our stay the most pleasant.
We hope the Somerset will open more hotels in India soon to bring their quality Aparthotels to other cities.

Good facilities but poor staff

Facilities are great. Large rooms, pool and good gym. Restaurants with breakfast.

However, here is a list of the poor staff services:
- didn't get access to our room till 6pm after 2hr wait. Told 30min max
- no towels/floor mats on two occasions
- rubbish was removed from our bin and left on the kitchen bench
- breakfast staff took over 30min to bring hot beverages and eggs. Orders were also wrong. Sundan was an exception to this.
We have stayed at plenty of 4star hotels in India where the staff were exceptional and attentive to our every need. This was 2-3 star service.
We identified all these issues with staff and reception but nothing was done to make our stay nicer, just an apology email.

Nice hotel with lots of space.

We enjoyed our stay at Somerset in Chennai for 3 days. The rooms are spacious and location is good. Hotel staff is awesome and extremely helpful. I have to mention Suresh and another person at front desk who are very good at making guests comfortable at the hotel. They have a good pool& gym and room has everything you need. The only downside I found was that the mattress was uncomfortable. I would stay here again if I have to travel to Chennai with family .

Best Stay in Chennai so far

Recently spent one week at Somerset Greenways in May 2017. Central AC in hot summer was a real welcome for our family. Staff are extremely courteous. Check in process went very smoothly. The 2 bedroom apartment was well furnished and very clean. WE used the kitchen amenities regularly. The hotel staff were very quick in responding to questions and concerns regarding equipment and supplies.
The Dining Co. restaurant was very good for the morning breakfast. Very authentic south indian and north indian breakfast was available along with continental items.
We are really glad that we chose this apartment for our recent visit to Chennai.
Had a very pleasant and memorable stay.
Will definitely return back in future.

At best I would rate it 4 star. The Restaurant is ok but again nothing like 5 star. The rooftop pool is very good and that's the reason I gave a 4 for facilities. At night you can hear the dogs barking in the street below. Outside the hotel its pretty grim with a lot of rubbish left lying around.

I visited during the worst monsoon in Chennai for 25 years so my experience this time was very different to my idyllic stay in January earlier in 2015. The street the hotel is on floods badly in very wet weather which makes it hard to get autos or taxis. So for a couple of days I had to wade out to the main road. The staff were as helpful as they could be but constrained by the lack of transport. The rooms are very comfortable and well serviced. Not the worst place to be stranded for a day or two by any means. My suggestions for improvement would be to allow you to charge restaurant items to your tab and pay at the end. The current arrangement is pay as you go which can be slow. Also at peak times some extra staff on the desk would be helpful.

Comfortable stay with minor hiccups

Comfortable and spacious rooms. Quite location except for the school next doors which makes it impossible for any vehicle to move to hotel during morning and afternoon time when school opens and closes. Breakfast is way below par but the bar team is excellent. Interiors very modern and clean and quite. Only the local newspaper made available unless any other daily is specially requested for. Not too far from the Marina beach. But overall a nice experience for short or longer stay. Definitely recommended.

Lost potential in Chennai

This is pleasant hotel with much potential that is lost. The people are nice, the lobby is beautiful and the rooms are nice, clean and roomy. Our experience- the airport pickup was 1 hour late and to beat the driver asked us to walk to him! The hotel made up for this by not charging us for our ride. The room service menu is very limited and the food they do offer is not that great. Do not get Thai green curry! Fries are great though! Beer for room service way over priced!!! They have complimentary breakfast available in 1 of 2 of their attached restaurants (The Burgundy or The Social). In the Burgundy restaurant we saw two cockroaches!!! One by the toaster and one by the cereal! Yuck!! The Social restaurant was nice and clean with good food. The pool on the top floor was a beautiful infinity pool. They have tables on the roof but I had a feeling they don't get a lot of use as their wasn't a menu or service connected to the tables upstairs. The hotel is nice with loads of potential that is lost on the management or owners.

A great place to stay!

Lovely few days stay at the Somerset. Rooftop swimming pool was fab. The breakfast at both attached restaurants was varied and lovely to have freshly made parathas!
Although watch out for the evening buffet -well over priced.
Room was great with everything you'd want if you were staying for a long period.
Staff were polite and helpful.
We'd certainly recommend the Somerset!
