Overall service skills of staff were not up to usual Hyatt standard. Rooms were in poor state of repair, particularly the bathroom which was mouldy and smelt damp. Not unusable but again not the usual standard expected for price and brand.

The rooms are very dated and not cleaned properly. The shower walls and floors were covered in mould. The service was not good, the air conditioning would not work and it took over 24 hours and numerous requests before anyone actually looked at it and moved rooms.

Due to the Indigo flight chaos, we reached Chennai very early around 8:30 AM, instead of our scheduled 3:00 PM check-in. We requested an early check-in, and Ms. Kashish at the front desk went above and beyond to help us.

She arranged an early check-in within 30 minutes, provided breakfast access, and ensured everything was handled smoothly. The entire process was stress-free after a very tiring journey.

The next day, we also requested a late checkout, and she was kind enough to accommodate that as well. Throughout our stay, we contacted her a few times for assistance, and every request was handled promptly and professionally.

Ms. Kashish truly made our stay comfortable, smooth, and memorable. She is extremely accommodating, courteous, and proactive. A big thank you to her and the Hyatt Chennai team for such excellent hospitality.

The hotel in general was good,
However some staff needs to compensate for less service minded staff. Great work for those of you who really try.

The hotel experience started bad during check in and check out.

Check-in was bad due to she could not find reservation and after several input to request a additional bad it came the day after.

Check out was bad as we intended to pay upfront before the morning of check out. Also our pre booked breakfast was given to another guest.

I would not recommend this as a 5star hotel as they say.

We enjoyed our stay there. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable and the staff were very courteous and helpful specially towards our kid. The location was perfect for us, close to the ofc and consulate. We also loved the breakfast spread — plenty of variety and everything was delicious! The atmosphere was clean and quiet.

Attitude of staff on front desk not professional - been told that i should pay each time i use the restaurant using my credit card rather than charging to my room and then paying a complete bill upon checking out.- I have never in all my stays in hotels around the world in over 30 years of travel experienced this, and coming from a Hyatt regency my estimation of this hotel brand has fallen down as the lowest estimation of poor customer service. Your front desk staff should ask for my credit card and then i can sign resturaunt bills to my room . Also on my last stay for breakfast staff just chatter amongst themselves . I will never stop at a Hyatt regency hotel again thanks

The service was very sub par.
1. Check in experience - chaotic at best - got only one room key for each room although both were on double occupancy. Keep in mind that you need a key card to use the elevators at all times.
2. When I requested an additional key, I got one but the first key was auto disabled.
3. By the time I Figured that out, my wife had gone out and I got a new set of keys but both the old ones were disabled leaving my wife stuck outside without a working card.
4. My daughters were refused room service - simply because they forgot to get my card details at checkin. They were hungry for hours while we were out.
5. An experience manager gave me her number asking to reach out if I had any issues during my stay but she never picked up my phone call - ever.
6. I was refused a physical copy if my receipt citing technical challenges.

Overall, good property , well connected to Chennai but one of the worst service experiences that I have had.

From the beginning, we were impressed by the warmth and efficiency of the porters and bellmen who greeted us. Their speed in assisting with our luggage before check-in set a positive tone for our stay. The security screeners at the front gate were diligent while maintaining a welcoming smile, ensuring we felt safe from the moment we arrived.

Booked for pool - Not made aware of pool closure!

I booked this hotel solely because of the photos of the relaxing pool area and so much needed r&r at the end of two weeks in India. I was never made aware at time of booking - false advertising on Hotels.com as well by not stating the pool is closed and there is massive construction going on.

Upon check-in, also no mention of pool closure. Front desk clerk only addressed my husband, not me, even though my name was on the booking. She even came back saying to him, “I can’t find your booking sir” even though I handed passports with mine on top and open saying “the reservation's in my name”. She just if ignored me. I had to redirect her again; obviously she found the booking. She then offered my husband a paid upgrade without even making eye contact with me. The whole encounter was sexist and frustrating. Because I booked and paid externally, she refused to take a credit card for incidentals and said we must pay directly after any food/service and emptied our mini bar. We are now hit with multiple charges for foreign transactions vs paying one bill at the end.

We were looking for the pool our next day and went into the spa to ask. The lady was confused and informed us of the closure/construction. We were obviously disappointed as were weren’t aware. We booked massages instead. They were ok but my lady answered a phone call half way through and left (unprofessional).

Lastly, room needs maintenance. Bathtub shows layers peeling off, too poor to use.

The staff were amazing, every query of ours was completed with speed and efficiency.
The breakfast options were excellent - no words to describe the selection and the taste!
I want to appreciate the chef who made sure that on our last day of our stay, we got to eat Poli ( a food item) since we said that their prepation was excellent.
Rishi the front desk was awesome in every which way. All in all, we have decided that when we come to Chennai we are only staying at Hyatt Regency. In
short Hyatt Regency has a client for life :)

Why washrooms need semi transparent glass walls.

The hotel is clean, comfortable, no major complaints about staff, great breakfast.
My only complaint is why they have stained glass wall for washroom. I believe most humans in this world need privacy in washroom, what is the pressing need to go out of the way to design a washroom with semi transparent glass wall.

I would have avoided this hotel, if I had known they have such washrooms.

My room was filled with fruit flies and even though I complained about it, the hotel didn’t do anything about it. The room door was also problematic. I had a lot of trouble just unlocking and locking the door. The lock switch and the lock weren’t attached properly and was problematic.

I loved the aesthetics of the hotel, i loved the exhibitions they host, loved my room facing the pool. I appreciated and enjoyed everything abt the hotel.
What i didnt like was the South Indian breakfast options. U need to hire a really good South Indian chef. The idly's were sticky, poori masala was bland and there was no variety in the dessert. I was there for 2 weeks and every day was a different version of the same desert. I have stayed at Rain Tree, amazing selection of South Indian breakfast options and more than one dessert to choose from, unlike Hyatt everyday offering a different version of the same dessert and no cashews in the dessert.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Hyatt Chennai this past weekend. Having stayed at multiple Hyatt Regency hotels in US, I must say this one stands out in the top echelon of Hyatt hotels worldwide. Starting from checking in where ever smiling receptionist Mi@@ was amazing ,followed by the dining where each of the wide variety of food was delectable thanks to sou Chef V et al, and the equally laudable hospitality of folks in the restaurant area like Bh@@@@@, Kar@@@@, An@@@ ; and not to forget about the spectacular concierge service spearheaded by Kumar and co, along with the seamless checking out process by Ri@@@. All in all ,this was a memorable experience loved by my family and my parents-- 5 stars to the amazing team of Chennai Hyatt Regency, will certainly look forward to another delightful experience in future.

1. illogical placement of light switches in the room.
2. there were not many vegetarian options and options for small portion eaters in hotel restaurant
3. the bathroom door design was illogical - either covered the shower or the toilet. they could not be used in parallel
4. Found a cockroach in the bath tub the very first day

did like the following:
1. the room was cleaned everyday
2. management remembered my birthday :)

Avoid this hotel. Paying nearly 11k Rs for a night stay here is a waste of money. The room itself was very dirty. Hairs in the floor, sofa had a big stain not sure it is water or anything else. (Disgusting to even keep things there). How can someone not notice it and how did it pass quality control. Bathroom had a foul smell because it was not cleaned properly. Also the trays or boxes had visible water marks plus lots of dust indicating it was never wiped. Same goes with coffee maker and tumblers provided. Clearly you can see it was never cleaned recently. I didn't even touch it. Staff service was average. Liked Spice haat and the Chinese restaurant. Food was good. The reception people are very rude and don't even want to accommodate. The lady who was attending to us on 10 Oct 2023 night (11 Oct early morning) checkin was very inflexible. Even though I arrived only on a day later than the booking date due to flight schedule they couldn't even show courtesy to accommodate a delayed checkout for 2 hrs. Receptionist was quite rude with any kind of requests. I would not rate this even as a 3 star hotel. I am very dissatisfied and questioning the service provided by Hyatt brand in India. I did speak to the manager and aired my concerns. He was patient but my thought was why do I need to hear apologies and understanding when the service provided was not even 3 star. I strongly not recommend this hotel.

Great hotel. Many nice features like limited access to rooms only for guests. Travel desk was super efficient and ensured smooth transition for all guests while preserving security.
Two major problems remain
- The service levels and time to get to it both when we had issues and also when we wanted our bags picked up for check out. Time taken is very long and limited staff at key times.
- When there is a wedding on the property, there is a lot of pressure on the restaurants and service levels are subjected to delays. This is a double edge issue and will hurt service levels. We got lucky twice and once not.
- There is a disco bar on the lobby which is not keeping with the type of crowd you want to invite to the hotel. This bar is not limited to hotel guests which can become an issue.
We were relaxed and planned to ensure the above did not affect us. Another time, we may not be as relaxed and this is a potential issue we will consider when booking this place for our next stay.
