My second stay at this hotel. Always an excellent choice! Rooms are large and comfortable. Food is excellent. Movies on the beach every night. Pool is exceptional. 24-hour workspace off the lobby with air conditioning. International outlets everywhere. And now they have a cafe and a convenience store. But the absolute best part are the sunsets. ❤️❤️

We stayed here for 2 nights. We did not use the pool or restaurant/bar, but they looked lovely from a glance. The staff from arrival to leaving were fantastic and helped us in everything they could, including transport back to the harbour for our ferry back to Bali.

I had a great stay at this hotel! The staff were absolutely excellent—friendly, helpful, and always welcoming. The location couldn’t be better: just an across the street from the beach, bike rentals, restaurants. My room was comfortable and had everything I needed, though it could use a little refresh to match the rest of the experience. Overall, a solid stay and I’d definitely come back!

I am not sure when the property got 4 stars. Maybe 20 years ago. I am sure you find way better places to stay in a 3 stars.... all the hotels are pretty much the same and ALL propose the same services (i.e. pool, etc.).

- Food is bland and expensive
- The pool has too much chlorine
- Rooms need a big refresh
- There's nothing around in term of food : other hotels that propose the same food as the hotel at more or less the same price.
- Far from the busy area

But it is already known... if you look at the previous comments, I'm not alone. Not sure why ppl rate this place as \"excellent\", unless they don't know better.

I also don't think things will change any time soon... the manager responses are basically the same as they were 6 months ago.

In one sentence : choose a 3 stars hotel in the busy area of the island... You'll save on food and transportation.

We were very happy with our room and the private pool, would have been good to have two sun lounges next our private pool to relax on instead of only two chairs.
Location is on the quiet side of the island which suited us, only a 15 minute bike ride to the harbour area.

Stayed at Aston sunset for 5 nights. My experience was mixed. On the pros the room was well cleaned and well maintained albeit a little dated. Staff were friendly and very approachable. I would not stay again as a result of the cons. The breakfast was very poor. Bizarre options like calamari and katsu chicken. Dry pastries which did not taste fresh. Egg station was disappointing with eggs cooked in far too much oil. The location of the hotel is distanced from the main centre, bikes can be rented from the entrance to the hotel but they are in very poor condition with no breaks, rusted chains, no gears, flat tyres so don’t make for a very good ride around the island. Perhaps try renting from elsewhere! When eating in the restaurant for lunch and dinner food was okay but service very slow! Overall mixed experience, we used the facilities in other nearby hotels for pool days and this felt much better and more of a 4* experience compared with Aston.

Adi in particular was very helpful and kind. Our only piece of advice would be to get to the breakfast early to ensure the food is warm and fresh (however that being said the breakfast was still good)!

Stay at Aston was great, both my girlfriend and I felt very safe and comfortable. The property including pool was very nice and our room was big and well air conditioned. The staff here is excellent, and had helped me get my bank card back when I stupidly left it in the ATM.

Things are a little pricier than advertised, so be aware. For example breakfast in the morning is 150K, as opposed to the 100K we were expecting (Just ended up heading in to town for cheaper options) and bike rental is not included. There is some people out front who rent bikes for 50K but 2/3 times we rented them they were pretty busted up.

Overall, Aston was a great place to crash on the island, even though there is much cheaper options.

The movies on the beach were a great concept. The biggest positive is the staff. They had to contend with some precocious and unpleasant folk who appeared to believe the lottery of birth, and did so with grace. First rate

The best part about this hotel was the customer service from the staff, especially Komang. As soon as I arrived, Komang made me feel immediately welcomed. He is friendly, smiling, polite and warm. Every time I passed in the lobby, he made sure to acknowledge me and made me feel at home. When I checked out, he was very accommodating and helped me with many requests. From start to finish, Komang made me feel taken care of at this hotel.

The hotel is located on the side of the island where you see beautiful sunsets and away from the harbor and bars. They offer buffet at the beach, but the food is just ok. The wifi only works well in the lobby, not in the rooms. The bathrooms are extremely outdated and the design of the shower and toilet where water on the floor can get mixed between the two is disgusting.

Best sunsets on the island! With a great outdoor cinema to chillax the rest of the night away. On the opposite side of the busy noisy island where everyone scuba dives all day and parties all night so happy for the piece and quiet. Huge rooms Great friendly staff.

After an initial “glitch” we our first room, our stay at the Aston was fabulous! Management upgraded our room for the length of our stay. After circumnavigating Gili Trawangan many times, I didn’t see nicer, more well run hotel n the Island. Double feature movies every night on the beach drew travellers from other resorts; great marketing! Although this hotel is on the “quiet “side of the island, you don’t feel trapped. Free bikes are provided by the hotel so you can choose where your next adventure will be. I would recommend this hotel to anyone; great value!!!

Villas are run down and past due on remodeling.
Water in the shower is just like swimming in the ocean. No service at the beach for drinks or food without chasing the crew.
No WiFi in the villas and we actually upgraded to the royal suite and it was not so royal.
The outdoor seats in our villa didn’t have any pillows and everything was super basic.

The hotel its self is a bit tired in places with a number of loose boards around the pool area, but overall the hotel was good value for money.
There was free bikes available at the front of the hotel but it was sometimes pot luck as to the condition of the bikes with some having brakes that didn't work or perhaps the handle bars went one way and the front wheel went another.
There are many good local bars that also serve food and you can eat very reasonably if you are happy eating Asian food.
Some of the places we found are Exile, and Oh Warung Gili - Dont let the look of some of the places put you off.

The hotel is on the other side of the island so you need the horse taxi to get there. And the only transportation on the island is bikes or the horse taxi. Found it a bit scary to bike when it was dark cause the streets do not have any lamps. The hotel has programs for the night but if you are planing to party maybe better to stay near the harbor. The place is more to relax.

The service was 5 stars plus. We tried to take bikes one day and the seats were too short for me to ride them. By the afternoon they had found different seats and set those two bikes aside for us.
The breakfast was great...they had an omelet station, really good croissants, and we ate quite a bit every morning.
The grounds and landscaping on the property are really stunning.
We upgraded our room to a villa and we used our pool both days. The room was very clean and very comfortable.
The staff at the property was really fantastic

I own a travel agency and I would definitely recommend my clients to go stay here. It is much quieter in this side of the island. But it is a quick ride to the other side via horse carriage if you want to be in the marina area.

Nice place at the beach with great sunset location. But way too much plastic waste for my taste! Keep Gili T clean. Hotels and tourist should change their behaviour when we come to this beautiful place.

they should improve:
- no plastic straws … use bamboo or paper straws like many other places I have been to on Bali and Lombok
- Don't give our free plastic cups with individual straw which are literally polluting their own beach every night... provide water tanks at the restaurant to refill reusable water bottles
- exchange shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and body wash tubes for refillable container - all these little plastic bottles which people are not finishing and are just thrown away after people leave ....?

We stayed one night in Gili T and chose the Aston sunset because the hotel looked clean and comfortable and it did not disappoint. The hotel is located on the other side of the island far from the clubs so it was nice and quiet. It offered free bicycles so that was nice. The room was well maintained and clean. The breakfast buffet was average. The staff was very friendly and always available. Did not like the fact that they charged for the water in the room but offered free water cups in the lobby, also the WiFi coverage was poor and sometimes dropped in the room. Overall the hotel was cozy and above average for Gili T.

One night stay...

One night stay, no WiFi service, brought me a portable modem without the recharging plug, no water available at checkout morning due to construction next door that I was facing. There was a lot of bass noise and construction noise during the day so if you wanted to catch a nap, forget it.
On a positive note, rooms were clean, grounds were well kept, breakfast choices were plentiful, staff was friendly, a great location for the swings and hammocks at sunset.

Great Affordable Beach Hotel!

Staff was incredibly helpful. The pool and beach area was beautiful. Loved that they had bikes for you to rent (albeit some were a little old). Highly recommend. I would say, the distance from the port/downtown was long but it made you take the scenic route to explore the island during the day. Know that the only way in to the island is via speedboat, book early! They stop running at around 12pm. Otherwise there's a 24 port from Lombok. On the island expect to walk, bike or take a horse car (literally a horse carriage).

The hotel was amazing, the gardens were beautiful and the rooms were very nice. Pretty much everything is lovely here. The room we had, had a large bathroom, perfect for two girls! The pool was awesome and big! One of the best places I've stayed! The staff were always kind and helpful. Every morning they would greet you with a smile. Great hospitality.

All in all I would recommend it, but...

Pluses; great breakfast, lovely staff, close to the beach, fine swimming pool and good tv for the evenings.

Room for improvement (excuse the pun!) the bathroom does smell pretty badly (been mentioned by a previous reviewer but I chose to ignore it).
The biggest problem is that this hotel chain has the policy of far too many rooms for the facilities on offer meaning that if you want to have a poolside lounger you must be at the pool extremely early. Breakfast is the same although the hotel does warn you that if you turn up for breakfast after 9 you could be waiting for a table. Fair enough, but management ( I know you will read this) please invest a tad more money to buy enough paraplus ('sun umbrellas') for all of the loungers next to the beach as there is enough seating there but 7 paraplus is far from sufficient to say the least! (Insincere message from the management thanking me for my views to follow. Oh, and a sarcastic comment about not being able to control the weather! Power to the people!)

Not a place to enjoy a quiet sunset in Gili T.
+Hotel room was decent enough. Bed and aircon were fine.
+Front desk staff was nice, and the hotel bicycles are free (many hotels charge).
+Beach right across the street with decent sun chairs
-The beach is LOUD at night, everynight (I think), until 10 or 10:15pm.

Reminds me of the Philippines....An ocean breeze and the sound of waves....Perfect! Lets crank up 20' tall speakers so loud you cant hear anything except bad music for 3 blocks... The cover band shuts down about 10:15pm, so do NOT expect to go to sleep before that or enjoy a quiet sunset for that matter.

Reason I put my background first is for perspective. If you're 20 something you might actually LIKE loud noise until 10:15 at night. if youre over 40, well, probably skip this location (Belukar was MUCH better for this)

The stay was underwhelming, especially because this was the most expensive place we stayed on our month long stay in the Bali area. Food was awful, including room service, restuarant and the free breakfast. Breakfast was not fresh, and picked over by 10am. The swim up bar stunk like old alcohol. The pool was clean and the bed was comfortable. The free bicycles were a major plus, if available, since it is about a 20 minute ride to the part of the island with other restaurants and good beach that is suitable for swimming. Too much coral at the beach near the hotel for swimming. Most of the bikes were in poor condition and made it difficult for long rides. Seats and peddals falling off, as well flat tires and loose handlebars. Not a terrible stay but a bit expensive for what you get.

Good hotel right on the beach

This hotel is really good if you like to chill out in the hotel and have piece and quiet, also the best place to see the sunsets.
The staff were really happy to help and you can use the hotel bikes for free.
The pool was good and the food nice.
Down sides were the rooms were quite dark and it is on the quiet side of the island so you have to travel to the other side to do a lot of the activities, although that's only about 10 mins on a bike.
We're very happy with the hotel but would like to stay a bit closer to the main part next time.

Nice hotel with a private clean beach

The hotel was beautiful and very close to the beach. Staff were very friendly. There are a few restaurants closeby. It's quiet, clean, leisurely. But it's on the other side of the island from the hustle and bustle. So if you are looking for the nightlife, entertainment or variety of restaurants you have to take a $15 USD horse cart ride each way to get to to that side. Also the boats dock on the downtown side so you need that $15 horse cart ride to get to the hotel itself and then again back to the boats to leave the island.

Lovely hotel on the beach but far from the centre

We stayed here for 4 nights whilst visiting Gili T. The hotel is far from the centre and not walkable, we did rent the bicyles from the front of the hotel which are free of charge and a nice way to go round the island. The beach at the front of the hotel was having work done to it which was very off putting and loud whilst by the pool.
The pool area was nice and we paid extra for the villa with a private pool which was worth the money!
Bathrooms were gorgeous!
Breakfast was poor, egg station was good but the rest of the food although looked like a lot of choice was not really. No fresh fruit which was disappointing.

Best resort on the island

We stayed there for a couple of nights and were so happy with the resort after passing by some not so great ones on the ride there! Would have preferred the pool to be open later than 7pm though. Staff were very nice and room was very clean! Breakfast buffet was amazing, great location right in front of the beach and away from the busy part of the island!

Breakfast by the beach

We really enjoyed our time there! Located away from the main nightspots/night market and is considerably private. We loved that fact that the restaurant & bar is located right on the beach front, coupled with beach chairs facing the sea that allows you to enjoy a good tan or star gazing after the sun sets.

Pool is the only nice part

Food was terrible, running out of all the staples including Tomatoes, Bacon and even fries. Breakfast buffet was all stale and a waste of money

We checked out a day early due to getting bitten heavily by mosquitos or bed bugs. Both woke up covered in a red rash which still hasn't gone away. Hotel ran by teenagers.

Well serviced hotel with quiet beach

Very relaxing here, away from the main area. We stayed in the Club Hotel section; wooded, very quiet, towards the back so a little walk to breakfast and back but it's worth it.

Rooms are of a good standard, very clean, excellent bathroom. Great air con.

Very good breakfast selction, from local cuisine to the usual eggs, omelettes, beans, pancakes, cheeses, fruits, juices and pastries.

Bar service on one evening was a bit ropey, you can't sneak incorrect cocktails past us, if you don't have the correct spirits/liqueurs then just say so, guests can choose something else!

Hafiz, one of the service team, was excellent and should be recognised for this. So pleasant and helpful. And funny too. Great guy!

All the staff were happy, friendly, smiley, great bunch of people.

There seems to be a bit of a panic in getting horse and carts on checkout (guests receive a letter the night before leaving), especially on a Friday when the service stops at 11am, but there was no panic really and everyone got transport easily. Hotel concierge arranges this when you're ready, guests pay the usual fee (150,000 for 2/3 people and luggage, takes about 20 minutes to the port), there's a small queuing system, it was all very easy.

Overall a very pleasant and laid back stay. Make sure you grab a free bike and cycle round the island. It's mostly very easy with some decent food/drinks stops along the way.

Note, don't bother with the night market. Fish made us very ill and it's not worth the trip.

Great location away from all the bustle.

Wonderful staff, particularly Abi, Elie & Dewi, Zul and my room service man - so many others also, all to be congratulated, including management for the contribution to training which is evident. Please reward and care for these people. They are your greatest asset.
The property is in a great position; we were so glad that we chose to stay at Aston.

Great place to relax

Lovely resort away from the hustle and bustle of the harbour side of the Island. Lovely well appointed rooms. Nice big light airy bathrooms in Aston Club room. Lighting in the rooms is poor but so are many places in Gili. Could have more path lighting at night. Great pool, friendly staff. Happy hour cocktails well priced. Very laid back and relaxing stay.

Overall the hotel was great it wasn't in the centre but you can easily borrow the free bikes or walk around which we did. The swimming pool and being right near the beach was amazing. The food was okay they did run out of food on the menu some days and had to wait for it to come over by boat, there is better food places around the island to eat at. The staff are so friendly and nice and always willing to help you. I would come back and stay here it was such a relaxing 4 nights!
