Location is perfect, nice staff very friendly and helpful..beautiful pool area, great breakfast and nice restaurant area, however the room was very tiny, and very old looking, like the rugs, curtains, the bed dress were old and dirty looking, the entire area was ugly from the entrance door to the room area, definitely needs rug replacement… i was very surprise to find the room so old for the price.. i guess i paid for location

You check in at the sister hotel Grand Villa Argentina across the street which is a grand old place overlooking the Adriatic where you take your breakfast or use the pool, your building is across the street and up several flights of stairs. Comfortable, clean, quiet, with comfortable beds, the rooms are decorated in the style of the two hotels, which is older in style, traditional decor. Look at the buildings, stately and older, I expected this decor. The staff super kind and helpful and knowledgeable. A short 10 min walk to old town and everything. Two or three supermarkets along the way. Great location, lovely time. Nice to come back to a quiet, cool room. bravo!

Villa Glavic and its sister hotel Grand Villa Argentina are excellent. The rooms overlooking the Adriatic are beautiful. The morning breakfast buffet on the outdoor deck is a wonderful spot to start your day. You are about a 5-10 minute walk up the hill from old town and you will have some phenomenal views on your way down to the city. So happy we stayed here!

Great Hotel with Stunning Location.

Although booked into the Villa Glavic, we stayed in the main part of the Grand Villa Argentina Hotel with a stunning sea view room. Everything from check in to the moment we left was perfect. Superb staff, stunning views and service. Great location with a lovely stroll down into the Old Town that takes less than 10 minutes.

food and beverage service could be better. seems to be a shortage of silverware...extra settings should be set ready to go to 'turn' tables...it should not come as a surprise when big groups come in and subsequent customers are greeted but bare tables. Otherwise the hotel is excellent.

Highly recommend the Villas of Hotel Argentina

We were upgraded to the Villa Orsula after our first night in Glavić. These villas share a central lobby and services with the Villa Argentina. Food, ambiance, location and all services among these three villas cannot be beat and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and kind. Highly recommend.

The room didnt have a view but wh didn't book a view. The room was as described. You can use the Argentina facilities and that was really great. We had breakfast each day included- very nice food and environs with lovely view of Dubrovnic from outside area. Lunch at the pool a few times also very good. My wife became ill and the hotel staff were superb. Special thanks to reception and resturant manager. Easy walk to old town (10 mins). Little supermarket two mins down the road. If we go back we will stay there again.

Great amenities & staff but very old room

They upgraded us to a room at Villa Argentina so really this review is for the main hotel. While the amenities (pool, spa, fitness center, breakfast buffet) are amazing and customer service is great as well we had some issues with our room. It’s quite possible we were “upgraded” to a room that doesn’t get much if any use as it looks nothing like the photos that Gran Villa Argentina promotes on their site. First, the HVAC in our room felt like the filter had not been replaced or maintained and both my husband and I had major congestion/allergy issues (we did not have this problem at the hotel we stayed at right after this). Also, the tub leaks water every time you shower (it is those half shower wall set ups that don’t fully enclose) so you’re constantly dealing with a wet slippery bathroom floor. But outside of this the service was good (prompt with any requests we had) and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool/ocean deck & breakfast buffet.

At Villa Glavic there is nowhere to sit outside anywhere. We wanted to have a drink together in the evening and I had to sit on a concrete ledge.
If you open a window it is a stone wall. No english TV and we travelled all through Croatia and had no prob. Had to go to next hotel to the 4th floor restaurant to get an ice bucket and ice for our own drinks. Service for a drink at the pool was very very slow. I think it is over priced .

Villa by the Sea

Villa Glavis is part of Hotel Argentina....check in at the main hotel, cross the street and you’re in Villa Glavic. Both hotels were lovely, but our favorite part was the oceanfront pool...and stairs down into the sea! Lovely patio w/ drinks and meals. Be sure to sit outside, overlooking the sea, for an evening cocktail. Enjoyed the morning breakfast buffet ( also on the patio overlooking the sea). Not a downside, but realize this is on a steep hillside. We loved being on the top floor of the Villa...but NO elevator. The main hotel has elevators throughout. We were just sure to have all we needed before heading to the pool! Location is great...short 10 minute walk to the Wall and Old Town. Evening views of Dubrovnik were incredible. Enjoy!

Good location for anyone who would like to walk into the old city of Dubrovnik, although it is quite an uphill hike back at the end of the day. Villa Glavic is an annex to the larger and more modern Hotel Argentina which has good facilities, with wonderful views of Dubrovnik and local islands

Lovely hotel, pity about the rooms

The hotel had mistakenly given us a double room rather than the booked 2 singles. The hotel had high occupancy so one of us was given a choice of 2 very inferior rooms: either no air conditioning ( like a sauna at 30C+, or one with curtains that didn't;'t close and a bath that flooded repeatedly. The staff finally pulled through with some decent customer relations but it was a chequered stay in anther wise lovely hotel n a good location.

The location of Villa Glavic is great assuming you don't want to pay to be inside the walled city. It's on a steep hillside overlooking the sea and it is an easy 10 minute walk along the coast into the walled city of Dubrovnik. You get the benefits of the affiliated Grand Villa Argentina hotel across the street, where a lovely buffet breakfast is served on a patio with views of the walled city and Lokrum island, and the seaside pool is available. The staff can arrange for car service to or from DBV.

Staff friendly and very helpful. We used the sun terrace a couple of days and this was lovely. Pool guy was very friendly and helpful. Location excellent. The breakfast in the hotel Argentina is good and staff very attentive. If I visited again I may consider a sea view room in the hotel Argentina because our room in Villa Glavic was a ground floor rear room which opened on to a rock face with no view and it was dark and quite cold. Room was tight with too much furniture and didn't feel luxurious and definitely didn't feel five star. Bed not the most comfortable and bedding not very luxurious either.

This is a very nice hotel,nice staff,overall a good experience,somewhat overpriced even in October-for $ 400 a night a rather small room at Villa Galvin.No elevators that’s why I strongly advise elderly or people with difficulty walking to book Villa Glavic.Parking is a little cumbersome but ok.Makesure you get a room with balcony at Villa Galvin makes a huge difference.Recommendation-stay reasonable with your prices-there are comparable hotels which have lower rates

Nice but aging hotel with pool and ocean access for the hot weather, but the walk uphill from the Old Town is a bit much in the hot weather and our \"double bed\" was just 2 singles made up separately as singles rather than as one bed. The older man/manager at Reception was also from a pompous and uncaring past that we had assumed was in the past, and didn't make us feel at all welcome. In fact,we felt as if we were inconveniencing him, rather than being the paying 'guest' of the hotel, as evidenced when we witnessed him poking fun at other guests. Having said that, we wouldn't in any event return to Dubrovnik because the whole of the Old Town seems focused on ripping-off tourists with excessive pricing for everything without the quality to justify it, which I'm led to believe is not indicative of the rest of Croatia.

Stayed 4 nights and upon arrival was upgraded to the top floor and have a great view of lokrum island and the old city. Welcome foods upon arrival to room aswell which was a nice treat after arriving from Hvar at 10pm that night (from ferry).
Breakfast buffet exceptional, great food selection, the most AMAZING views to look at and staff very freidndly. Hotel situated about a 10-15min walk from old city, enjoyed the walk each day a good work out in the heat. Pool area great can swim off the rocks beside it in the ocean which was lovely. Pool staff excellent. Great location being a bit away from old city as can avoid the hustle and bustle of tourists.

We booked this hotel because we were meeting a group at the Hotel Argentina on the following day. The Glavic is across the street from the Argentina and managed by the Argentina. For some, there may be an issue with climbing stairs because there is no elevator in the Glavic; several flights of stairs are involved. For us , it was not an issue as we normally shun elevators just for the exercise. Although not requested, a porter carried our luggage to our room. All facilities are within the Argentina. The Argentina grounds extend from high on the hillside down to the sea and are impeccably maintained. For those desiring it, there is an elevator from the Argentina down to near seal level.
Upon arrival, we were told that our room had been upgraded. As booked, we were to be in a room without a significant view. However, the room we were assigned included a balcony on the top floor overlooking the old town.

Excellent accommodation. Position perfect. Breakfast best experienced. However shuttle service to and from airport advertised did not exist, they would make a limo booking for you if requested. Bed very comfortable although size of quilt not large enough for bed and only just covered the two of us.

We left our luggage with the hotel after checking out so that we could continue our exploring and on return found it had not been left in a secure place but in the glass entrance at front of hotel that others had accesse to, not impressed.

Overall good holiday and would return to Dubrovnic and same hotel.

Amazing location and the kindest hotel staff

We stayed just across the road from the Grand Villa Argentina and basically could use all the facilities. Prosecco in the mornings were a definite plus as we came to celebrate my wife's birthday. The hotel kindly arranged a small birthday cake on the morning of the birthday and a personalised message was very easy to arrange. Thanks for such a nice relaxing stay. Definitely recommended!

Amazing Views and an Upgrade

As a Expedia VIP member I was given a free room upgrade to Villa Grand Argentina which is part of the chain of hotels the Villa Glavic belongs to. The hotel was amazing; our room looked out on to the sea, we had friendly and helpful staff, a nice morning buffet, a great indoor pool and sauna as well as being within 10 minutes walking distance to the Old Town. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to others!

We had extremely good experience at the Hotel Argentina. It is opposite the Villa Glavic and is part of the same group. As it was at the end of the season and not many people were there, (dates from 3rd to 9th Nov) they put us in the main hotel.

A word of warning

We were upgraded at check-in to Villa Orsola so were very happy. A la carte breakfast is served only for guests staying in the annexe. The experience was wonderful but not so good when we checked our credit card statement after departure and found we had been charged for the accommodation on check-in and again on check-out. When we were asked for our CC we assumed it was for sundries. We were overcharged more than 1300 AUD and for the first 48 hours the hotel denied we had been overcharged. Finally I took a photo of the CC statement on the iPad (we are still travelling) and emailed it. Only then were Hotel Argentina and Villa Orsola able to find the overcharge. Disgraceful for a five star hotel but thankfully all resolved now. The hotel is beautifully located and luxuriously appointed.

Very impressed

I found the villa to be very good. It's the annex for the hotel Argentina which itself is excellent. All of the facilities are excellent there, and is where the restaurant/bars/breakfast is. Staff are very friendly and helpful. A pleasant 10 minute walk from old town as well. Only slight downside was that the TV was very difficult to operate, but when we told hotel staff about this, they fixed immediately.

Hotel is beautiful but my room was in the building in back and across the street. The staff was not helpful or accurate in telling me the way to get there. I ended up climbing way too many steps with 2 heavy bags in tow. The bellman luckily helped get my luggage to my room. There was absolutely no view and the room was very dark. The bed and furniture was nice and the bathroom clean. The service was okay. Not very friendly actually. The location was great. The view from the pool was amazing. I would

We arrived late in the evening, only to find that no room had been reserved for us and that Villa Glavic was actually closed. However, we were swiftly allocated a room in the main hotel, Grand Villa Argentina, on the coast and where all the facilities are located. So we had some difficulty at check in, which was repeated at check out. This had fantastic views of the sea (which we had actually requested in the original booking) and old town, with a small balcony. The rooms were clean and tidy, but standard size, dated and with twin beds put together. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, access down to the sea pool was closed, indoor pool was standard. Great location,15 minute walk from the old town. Overall, we would rate this a 4 start hotel in today's standards.

Convenient hotel near to old town

Villa Glavic is an annexe to Hotel Argentina which provides all facilities except the bedroom. Accommodation is physically demanding due to 89 step climb to our room located on the top floor and no lift so a consideration. Main hotel is superb.

Villa Glavic is the annexe to Hotel Argentina. It is totally unsuitable for aged or infirmed guests. The rooms with a sea view are on the second floor.....there is no elevator.....there are six flights of stairs two external and four internal. For someone with high blood pressure and rheumatism each return to our room was tortuous Nowhere in your promotional material does it elude to this. Our room was small, not Superior and overstuffed with furniture, so much so that you had to close a window to get out of bed!! Ours was only one of two without a balcony. If it were not for the fact that we love the city and surrounding countryside, we would have returned home after the first day. We enquired about a room in the main hotel but were told they were full.

We suggest you make it clear to future prospective guests that they should chose somewhere else unless they are seeking an extreme cardio workout.

We had book a room at the Villa Glavic, but we got upgraded to its sister hotel, the Grand Argentina. It was a fantastic hotel, and I'm sure we got a great bargain. The room had an ocean view, with a superb view of Old Town Dubrovnik, as well as the Adriatic Sea. The breakfast was also good, and there was an outdoor dining area which also afforded terrific views. The hotel was about a 10 minute from Dubrovnik, which made sightseeing easy. The staff was great and the amenities were first class (L'Occitane products!). It was a fantastic time!

Great hotel in brilliant location. All facilities at the hotel were fantastic. The beach terrace was a great bonus. The staff were all very helpful. We were aware there wasn't a lift at the villa so it wasn't an issue for us. the breakfast lived up to its reputation. Would recommend and return.

Excellent hotel in great position. Superb pool deck with direct access to Adriatic Sea! Gorgeous, iconic views of Old City only a 10 minute walk away. Comprehensive, diverse breakfast. Very helpful concierge and front desk staff. Villa Glavic guests have full access to main hotel facilities.

This is just a building, the real Hotel and services are across the street.
There is no elevator and about 95 steps if you are on the top floor, as we were. Don't forget anything in your room and have to go back! I thought the guy taking our bags up was gonna die.
The services across the street were excellent and location is good. Stay across the way at Villa Argentina and make life easier.

Great hotel in a perfect location. Good breakfast with breathtaking views. The only complaint is a lack of elevator in Villa Glavic, but it is an old, beautiful building, so not sure if owners could do anything about it.

A wonderful place to stay

We loved staying here relaxing poolside and swimming in the Adriatic Sea whilst sipping on a G&T! It is a short pretty 5 min walk to beautiful old city of Dubrovnik. Will stay there again.

Magnificent views and great location

The location is unbeatable. - right by the sea with amazing views and a pool. Choice of restaurants with amazing views. Room furnished to a good standard. 10 minute walk to old town.

Be warned that there is no elevator. Staff are mediocre and air conditioning is not the coldest

Great option in Dubrovnik

We stayed here our last night in Dubrovnik. It was a great location to drive to the airport. We had 3 separate stays in Dubrovnik and Villa Glavic was great. A less expensive option but right across the street from it's mother hotel- which is a sister hotel to the first one we stayed at. Other than a walk across the street and no elevator (but excellent bell person service)- a great place to stay. The room is not modern but has all the amenities and whatever one needs. The staff was amazingly helpful & friendly. The view from the water to the old city/ port is fabulous.. esp late in the afternoon as you see the sun setting over the city.

Nice annex to Grand Hotel Argentina

Very pleasant hotel in a fabulous location. The staff were very obliging, helpful and friendly. They try very hard to ensure your stay is a good one. The hotel is meticulously clean and serves good food and drinks. Breakfast on the covered terrace, overlooking the old town and the island of Lokrum is a brilliant way to start each day. A pleasant stroll into the old town takes you to a myriad of cafes, bars and restaurants. A walk round the walls is well worth the effort, but beware - you cannot break your trip halfway. The cable car is also well worth a try, providing you with stunning views and another café/restaurant.

Recommend but...

Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel (location, quiet at night, breakfast, and the private patio across the street at the sister hotel. The one downside were the overly soft mattresses that we hadn't realized caused our backaches throughout the stay, until they cleared up after just a one night stay at our next city stopover.

Could not have asked for more!

I didn't have a single problem with my stay here. The staff spoke English very well, was helpful with getting me around town, and the rate was very reasonable compared to neighboring hotels. The room was very clean, roomy, and even had a great balcony with a partial view of the sea, making for great coffee time in the morning! Would definitely stay here again.

Comfortable Hotel in a great location

The Villa Glavic is part of the Hotel Argentina, the two being separated by a quiet, narrow road which has to be crossed to access the dining room and other facilities. Our room was well furnished to a high standard, the only disappointment being that We paid extra for a sea view. Our room was on the lowest floor of Villa Glavic, with no balcony and gave an outlook over Hotel Argentina opposite, with the sea barely visible through the wooden shutters. If you really want a sea view make sure you are getting one of the upper rooms, ideally with a balcony. What you do get however is a mere ten minute walk to reach the old town, which was great and definitely a reason to choose this hotel. An excellent breakfast selection each day made this a very enjoyable stay.

Clean. Efficient. Friendly. Beautiful hotel and facilities. You CANNOT beat the view. Amazing. Food delicious and drinks lovely (if a little pricey). Only negative is that there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. Fridge is big enough for bottled water though. Definitely recommend this stunning hotel. A short walk to old town (5mins)

I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay here again. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the city center. The walk is along a busy road, but has great views of the sea and the old town. We liked that the hotel was a bit removed from the busy downtown area. The breakfast is unbeatable with the most amazing views and includes free champagne. The pool is a bit pathetic, but you barely even notice it because it is on a cliff overlooking the gorgeous sea. We laid out on loungers and jumped into the sea to cool off. It was terrific. The hotel itself is very outdated, but it is in good condition and very clean. Don't waste your money on villa argentina, when you can stay here (across the street) and use all their amenities. Something I must mention: We asked a woman at the front desk if she could book our bus tickets to split and she said yes, but we hadn't decided on the time yet. When we returned to book the tickets, a man was at the front desk. When we asked him if he could book our tickets, he told us to take a bus to the bus terminal (20 min) and book them there ourselves. This is not the type of service one expects at a 3 star hotel, let alone a 5 star.

Villa Glavic is part of the Hotel Argentina, you can use all the facilities and have a fantastic room at a fraction of,the cost. Only let down is no tea and coffee facilities in the room. Location of the hotel is ideal for walking to the old town and all the attractions.

Annex of Grand Villa Argentina....still torn.

What you have read is true. Although the building is accross the street from Grand Villa Argentina, you better hope you are given a room in the first floor, or be ready to climb some stairs....which makes it a bit of a hassle when carrying heavy luggage.

Ammenities are good and views from the hotel are also good, but there is no readon to stay here if a room can be booked at Grand Villa Argentina.

I picked this hotel since the reviews said the views were much better, but they are not. And it jsut makes it uncomfortable to have to go to the main building to get to the pool, concierge, front desk, dining room, etc.

That aside, the hotel provides everything you would expect, but I would not consider a 5 star for it.

Small, clean room, heavyly decorated, great views in the main building, friendly staff, L´occitane ammenities.

Do not expect anything modern and, if you do not mind a bit of cardio before going to bed, then you will hold no objections.

Nice hotel with a good view of the old town

We had a most enjoyable holiday in Dubrovnik. The Villa Glavic is in fact part of Villa Argentina and we can use all the facilities in Argentina. The only down side is having to cross the road, but that is not a big problem unless it is pouring down with rain. We stayed in a ground floor room with a glimpse of the sea from our window. Those who stayed upstairs will have to climb stairs as there is no lift in Villa Glavic and some rooms may be facing the hill rather than the sea.
