Listen, the people are sweet. The food was pretty good for a hotel. The room was very clean as well. I'll stay here every time I'm in Ashland, and I have. The only thing that has been rough was a tractor trailer idling all night outside the hotel on a Thursday. I have yet to see/hear it on a weekend night. The noise was awful, and it cost me a lot of sleep. On the nights I've stayed here without the idling trucks, it's virtually silent. Overall, a wonderful hotel.

For the price, I was disappointed with our room. The bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom small, the shower drain cap and cover was in the middle of the shower when we first arrived, and there was only 3 very small drawers for our clothes.

The breakfast was above standard though and the hotel and our room were clean.

First night there was dirt and lots of black hair in one of the beds. I was very tired and had unpacked, so I just slept in the other bed. Next morning I saw the same in the sink. Also, the window shade didn’t come down all the way. The shower didn’t work right, but was good enough. Breakfast was adequate except the morning with the cheese omelets. They should have stuck to scrambled eggs. At the end, I got to go home a day early, but no refund, “special rate.” It looked like a newer hotel.

We have stayed here twice since the remodel. The staff is fantastic. The lady that assembles the breakfast buffet is very attentive (talks alot) but is very sweet.
The housekeeping staff always made sure we had plenty of fresh white towels. The beds are very comfortable, and the new showers are great!! Highly recommend.

This review concerns my recent stay at the Best Western located at 31 Plaza Dr., Ashland, Kentucky, which was, without exaggeration, one of the most unacceptable and unsanitary lodging experiences I have ever encountered. I am submitting this in a factual and documented manner so that Best Western Corporate is fully aware of the conditions being allowed at this location.

Before booking, I made a point to review the online ratings, which appeared reasonable. Based on that information, I expected a clean, safe, and standard-quality environment. What I actually experienced was the opposite.

Upon entering the first room assigned to us, we observed cockroaches smashed on the wall and what appeared to be a clear infestation of live roaches underneath the mini fridge. This is not a minor cleanliness issue—it is a public health concern and a direct violation of expected sanitation standards for any hotel operating under a major franchise name.

Additionally, the beds in the room were set extremely low to the ground, giving the appearance of makeshift or improperly maintained furniture, raising concerns about structural integrity and guest safety.

Due to these conditions, we immediately requested a room change. We were reassigned to a room on the second floor, which presented its own serious issues. The entire floor had a strong and pervasive odor resembling sewage, making it impossible to feel comfortable or confident in the sanitary condition of the environment.

I had a very nice stay. The hotel was very clean and my room was spacious especially the bathroom. The rooms have Keurig style coffee makers with an assortment of coffees and tea. There is a refigerator with a real freezer and a microwave also. Breakfast is included and there is an assortment of hot and cold food offered. The gentleman who checked me in and worked nights was very friendly and welcoming and informative. There is ample free parking and several restaurants within walking distance. There is an outdoor pool but it was off season when I was there. I would recommend this hotel.

Planning another visit soon!

Hotel was at capacity for the weekend but everything was perfect from check in to check out. We got to the property about 45 minutes before check in. Our room was not yet ready which was 100% expected. We made the comment that we were just there a little early to swim, they allowed us to swim why we waited for the room to be ready. Pool was perfect temperature and crystal clear, rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and even with the full house breakfast was smooth and well stocked. We are already planning our next visit.

This location was ideal for an early morning appointment. It was only a few miles away from the location, and there were a few restaurants that were in the area also. This property was misleading in their ad and reported they offered a continental breakfast in their listing. This was NOT true. This property doesnt even offer coffee or any food. The rooms were so filthy with mold and mildew and stained furniture, dirty shower curtain and dirty microwave, looked like dried blood on the ceiling. To make matters worse, the fire alarm went off at 7am, ear piercing alarm with flashing lights, after only a few hours of sleep. If the hotel staff knew the room was faulty, it shouldn't have been rented out. This place is a scam and should be inspected by the health department.

The hotel and room was very clean. Beds and pillows were wonderful. The mattress was the best I have ever slept on in a hotel. The only thing that could have been better was the hotel check - in staff. Was not friendly at all and gave the assumption that if they would have to smile it would be the worst thing ever. My husband and I was not impressed with check in at all. With paying $130 a night for a room, you would think you would get friendlier service.

Staff was not knowledgeable of reservations made by hotels.com. She declined to let us in and said we owe money even though it was already paid for. I used one of my free stays and she said that we cant use those and can only use best western rewards and that they have nothing to do with hotels.com. It ultimately got resolved but the hassel was unnecessary.

I stayed with my seven-year-old granddaughter and when we took showers that evening she has almost waist length hair there was barely enough shampoo and conditioner to use between the two of us. Between that and the soap to shower with the bottom of the tub was so slick that she fell and I almost did. I had to brace my feet along the sides of the tub to keep from slipping. There is no handlebar in the tub to hold onto or anything on the bottom of the tub to keep you from falling. At 70 years old that could have been bad. Otherwise everything was just lovely and we had a great overnight.
