The staff are great; friendly and polite. The hotel was very clean however the condition is dreadful, well past its sell by date! Some major works need doing. The rooms are on the small size too, and do not have any tea/coffee making facilities. A shame because you can see the hotel has so much potential.
Great to be right on the beach, plenty of parking. The pool is a good size but again needs some TLC although it is cleaned daily.

Fabulous price for an elegant little hotel on the Mediterranean! The hotel has chaise lounges and umbrellas on the beach mere steps from the terrace swimming pool - a rarity in Italy.
I was traveling with a group of friends and they thoughtfully gave us all rooms on the same floor. Each room had a beautiful terrace with a sea view. Another thoughtful touch - clothes drying rack with clothes pins in the corner of each terrace.
Nice in-house restaurant and bar on the main floor plus many other choices nearby.
Hotel desk staff all speak English.

sad that the Sea view of Superior room was actually a car park and sea only visible if you looked round the side. Other Sea view room looked at neighbour building. the photo they'd used was from a locked corridor fire escape.
The desk manager was rude. Only the cleaners had smiles.

Bike hotel with an awful restaurant

On its own the hotel was not bad though certainly no four stars. But the restaurant is to avoid. Beautiful setting with horrendous food, the worst we have ever experienced in Italy.

Nice hotel on the beach. Free parking. Convenient for visiting Valley of Temples and Scala dei Turkey. Restaurant is good, we had an evening meal and it was very nice. Room was comfortable with a small balcony. You need a car if staying here

Lovely pool and beach resort

The hotel was nice, clean and the staff was very friendly. Luckily my family speaks Italian or I would have had some problems communicating. Breakfast in the morning was nicely done and again, service was friendly. The room my wife and I had was great, but my daughters' room stayed hot as their AC did not function properly. That was the only downside of the hotel. And it is an easy 20 minute walk along the beach to the Scala dei Turchi.

Great location and very good hotel

We enjoyed our 4 night stay very much. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and our room was clean and spacious with a huge balcony and fabulour sea views. We were on a half biard package and breakfast and dinner were excellent. We ate lunches in the restaurant too and they were also very good.

We used the hotel's sunbeds on the beach which were comfortable and well spaced out.

Modern hotel by the beach.

This pleasant hotel is on the beach and has a large swimming pool besides. About 7 km from the temples in Agrigento and a half hour walk along the beach to the spectacular Scala dei Turchi, a geological formation of white cliffs. Nice breakfast and pleasant dining poolside.

The proximity to the Med was great and we were able to have a great walk on the beach.

Bellissima villa Romana!

Best hotel in Porto Empedocles, a little old fashioned however clean, friendly, and the pool was lovely (although needed to be cleaned a little more as there were quite a few flies around the sides) the rooms were always cleaned everyday, hairdryer fridge etc in the rooms however there was not an iron in the hotel which I think some people could do with! Friendly staff although the pool bar was sometimes empty. Complimentary breakfast was great, a good variety of fruit, cakes, ham, cheese etc. A coffee machine & plenty of juice. Drinks average price for a hotel but minimarket nearby which sells cold drinks & alcohol to stock up the fridge. We had no problems with the room, shower was great, balcony was also a nice size. Overall a great stay, and right on the beach, but also nice atmosphere to chill by the pool. Lovely restaurants nearby, but need a car to go into Porto Empedocles town.

A good place to stay for the valley of the Temples

We needed a hotel in this area off season and this one looked OK. It is nicely placed on the beach with what looked like good pool (but in April it wasn't in use). The beach itself isn't all that great and the view across to Porto Empedocle isn't inspiring, but the hotel has large balconies for sunbathing and spacious public areas which balance things up. We had dinner which was really good - beautifully cooked and well served, and excellent value for money. Staff were uniformly friendly an dhelpful.

Great getaway in Porto Empedocle

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and our room, which had a good size balcony, had a fabulous view over the sea and was a great space to sit out in the sun.The hotel was within a short drive to the Valley of the Temples and only 3 hrs across the island to Mount Etna. Local food was delicious.

loved being right on the beach to go for both a morning and evening walk. About a 30 minute beach walk to the Turkish steps - worth doing. Rooms are spacious with a balcony - try to get a beach facing room. Breakfast was ok with decent selection of cold items.

Wonderful staff.

This hotel is right on the beach and the staff was very friendly and eager to help us with everything. We stayed there to visit Scala dei Turqui, which we were surprised to find can't be seen until you're almost there. It would be a very long walk from the hotel, but there is parking nearby. Even though we checked out before going to the Scala, the staff stored our luggage and told us we could use the pool showers on return and change in the restrooms .Rooms were small & the ac was out when we were there, but we were given a fan and told it would be fixed the next day.

Nice hotel, close to the beach

My partner and myself spent a week in this hotel. It was very quite and lovely place to be. Hotel is good for people without children and if they like to walk on the sea side as we did. The most interesting attraction near by is Scala Dei Turchi-about 1-1.5 miles away to walk by the sea. There are plenty of places to swim and for sun bathing. Restaurants around are basic but serve nice, good value sicilian meals. Very much advisable to have a car if you decided to stay in this hotel, so it will be easy to go around to see old little towns and villages of the south west of Sicily.

This hotel is in very need of doing up.

It was a very hot time to be there but this hotel did not have the air condition working so unbearable at night. The TV in the rooms did not work. And as for the day you are going to just stay around in the pool then no one is around for you to get a drink and as for any thing at to eat at midday you have to go out of the hotel to find somewere. The staff at the desk just one lady was very good but as for the others not very friendly or very help full. The room cleaners were very good and thay were also very friendly. I wish i had not booked it for a week as we would have left with in two days.

Great hotel, needs better street address

Although difficult to find, this hotel was very good. Our room was clean and comfortable. Parking was adequate and the area around the hotel was scenic with a beach about 20 or so yards from the hotel entrance. Our rate included dinner which was very good. The pool was in good shape with plenty of lounges. We were unable to get the internet to work. Our biggest problem however was just finding the place. The address provided was worthless to our GPS (Garmin, just updated with European maps). And when we called, the staff was unable to provide much in the way of directions. We had to stop and ask for directions and finally eventually happened upon the back of the hotel. Once found, there did seem to be a few bars and restaurants within walking distance.

Looked good on the pictures but very disappointing on site. Hotel is really old and could use a major renovation. Didn't see anything better in the neighbourhood... We wanted a pool... it was tiny. We had a great big balcony but no furniture! Room was tiny, only one roll of toilet paper so we had to go ask for more... Only stayed one night. Location .. A little far from downtown to many bridges to cross. Not great over all.

'Out of town treasure'

The hotel is lovely, well kept and comfortable with good facilities for our requirements. The closest town Porto Empedocle is a bit limited for dining but Agrigento made up for this. The hotel is situated well out of town with a very few eateries withing walking distance during high season July +. Pool area was superb, not very busy but water a bit chilly - good for adults. Beach was massive, gently sloping and water relatively clean with some nice beach bars and lidos. We stayed for two nights and loved it as part of a tour of southern Sicily.

At first glance it looks great. Our room faced the water which was great and our balcony was huge. The room itself was a good size as was the bathroom. But....cold to luke warm showers, dinner was well below parr. I am in Sicily and I would expect a decent plate of pasta with a plain tomato sauce. The paster was so undercooked that it was very difficult to eat. My husband and friends meals we not very nice. And expensive. Breakfast did not provide enough variety. All of the hotel amenities were not operational. Our toilet seat was broken and it was never replaced. We were there 3 nights. Over priced.

An early break in Sicily.

We stayed during the first week of February, as a result the hotel was not fully open, We were not aware of this before traveling. The restaurant was closed, although their was a partnering restaurant a short walk away, which was fine. The hotel is well situated and the staff very helpful. The beach and walks were very pleasant, until you get to the power station in the centre of Porto Empedocle, not pleasant at all.

Convenient for the temples at Agrigento

If you are visiting the temples at Agrigento, this is a very convenient place to stay, otherwise I can't see why anyone would want to. The room was perfectly adequate if a little small. The restaurant has the most unbelievable kitsch decor -with sparkling mosaic tiles on pillars and deep red swags and drapes.

Difficult to find the hotel so clearer driving instructions should have been provided. Also, to make clear the one-way road system on the approach to the hotel.the food (dinner) was a mix a good and inedible. I had an excellent starter, mussels, followed by an inedible slice of bread pork. Also the waiter in the dining room had the appearance and attitude of someone who's received a life sentence. He also served the breakfast which may account for his miserable demeanour. Only stayed one night, so our impressions are based on much experience of the place, but to apply the litmus test of \"would we stay there again?\" the answer would be \"No\". This place is ok . . .

The hotel was adequate for an overnight stay. The receptionist (Juliana) was very friendly, professional, and quite helpful. The pool was ok, but the beach was awful and a disappointment. Can't walk through the sand barefoot due to broken glass and other sharp objects. If you need a place to stay for a night or two while passing through Agrigento, then this place is ok. For a long term vacation or lengthy hotel stay, you may want to consider alternate accomadations.

Awesome sandy beachfront hotel with pool!

This hotel is literally on a beautiful sandy beach. If you know Sicily at all, then you know that many of the beaches are rocky (either pebble or lava rock, etc). We traveled in July so it was beach season and everything was clean and ready for the public. The pool was awesome. We traveled with two kids under 8 and they had a blast. The rooms were extremely clean, without that typical mildew smell in many beachfront hotels. They had free internet and a computer int he lobby for free use. Parking was included and there were no added fees besides the room rate. San Leone is a 5-10 minute drive, the next town over. We spent the days at the hotel and at the beach and headed to San Leone for the night which had many seaside restaurants and neat carnival for the kids. I highly recommend the hotel!

The hotel was clean, friendly, and updated. Very close proximity to the Scala dei Turchi and also to Agrigento. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly. They spoke minimal english, so knowing a bit of Italian would be beneficial. Parking was good (safe). For the price, this hotel was fantastic. The rooms were very spacious. One con would be that it was slightly difficult to navigate to. Another con was the elevator had problems. Good excuse to take the stairs! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to this area. It exceeded our expectations by far.

Great Beachfront Hotel

This is a gem in the working-class town of Porto Empodocle. It is one of the truly beachfront hotels in the Agrigento area. The property is first rate. Clean, modern and well kept. The staff is attentive and friendly and provided good recommendations on restaurants and services. We were there in the off season, but could tell it was a great place to be in the middle of summer season. Great town if you want to meet and talk with local people. They are very open and willing to say hello and offer conversation.

It was pretty good....

We pull up to the hotel (they have a parking lot - very happy) and you are immediatly impressed with the location: right on the beach. The hotel is well kept and very clean. (even though the interior looks as if it was decorated by the love child of Versace and Liberace). The front desk staff is a bit strange (we must have not been dressed to their liking), but the resturant staff is very friendly. And you have to eat at their restaurant because there is nothing else around....just that hotel and a residential area...But it is on the beach, so that is okay. But since it was off-season (October) the gate access to the beach was closed, so we had to trek through some wet-lands to get to the beach. (The beach is a bit dirty, so no bare feet - we found broken glass to a dead dog, so be careful). All in all, it was a nice place to stay...but I wish I could see it in the mid summer.

Villa Romana Porto Empedocle -appalling service

This was a bad experience. On arrival the manager was standing outside smoking and seemed irritated that we had disturbed him. No welcome, no offer to help with bags to the room.

The room was fine although the bed was a bit hard and the toilet seat fell off when my wife sat on it. She's not overweight.

Decor not to our taste, rather 1970s disco with some very tacky reproductions of famous Italian paintings - but that's a personal thing.

Breakfast on the second morning was an unbelievable experience. We arrived in the very large dining room just before 9am and chose the same table as the previous morning, which was apparently laid for two people. We went to the buffet to get our food and sat down at our table. After about 4 minutes a youngish girl / woman (black hair, ponytail and silver spectacles) came up to us and starting shouting angrily at us in Italian. I speak very little Italian (but speak nearly fluent French and some Spanish) but was able to understand that she was unhappy that we had chosen a table that had already (at 9am) been relaid for lunch. After about 10 seconds I started shouting back and told her (in English) that she was rude and in the wrong job.

We finished our breakfast as soon as possible, packed our bags and left. I was still very annoyed and went straight to my car, leaving my more diplomatic wife to drop off the key. She waited at the desk for a response from the manager who was cramming his mouth with food in the back office. When she tired of waiting for an acknowledgement she left the key and said goodbye. Without getting up he spluttered goodbye with a mouth still full of food.

The hotel obviously concentrates on catering for big tour groups visiting nearby Agrigento. Maybe they receive better service.

I have work in the tourist business for 30 years and stay in hotels about 50 nights a year so am used to all sorts of standards but this won the prize for the worst ever service experience.

I would not stay here again unless my family were being held hostage.

O desjejum não era muito bom. Produtos poderiam ser melhores. Todos de pouca qualidade- suco artificial, cornetos com pouco recheio, iogurtes bem artificiais, o café tb não era dos melhores. O pão só tinha dois tipos fatiado e um pão de cachorro quente. Poucas opções. A localização é linda na beira da praia. Tem muito mosquito… fui no inverno imagino o que seria no verão. Hotel piuttosto datato vedendo i mobili della camera, anche se eravamo al primo piano arrivava poca acqua calda.
Prese elettriche bruciate non funzionanti, porta del bagno danneggiata penso da qualche ospite, comunque non sistemata.
Certamente non hotel da 4 stelle

Hotel in posizione strategica, praticamente sulla spiaggia. Posto auto interno, comodo, a pagamento. Buona ed abbondante la colazione. In poco meno di mezzora di spiaggia si può raggiungere la Scala dei Turchi. 15 min d'auto la Valle dei Templi. Arredi datati ma funzionali. Sempre cortesece disponibile il personale.

The swiming pool was nice even though had a layer of human fat on the top, the doors of the shower box was broken. A very outdated hotel.
The only thing which was amazing was the breakfast.
For one night it was ok but i wouldn't suggest to stay more than that.

Ok, men langt fra 4 stjerner

Rent og korrekt med god frokost, men langt fra et 4 stjerners hotell. Gammelt og slitt, rommene bærer preg av ikke å ha blitt oppgradert på denne siden av årtusenskiftet. Bildene på nettsiden ser mye bedre ut enn virkeligheten. Bra beliggenhet rett ved stranden, men området er dødt og stranden lite velholdt. 30-40 minutter å gå til Scala dei Turchi, og 15 minutter å kjøre til Valle dei Templi. Da vi var der i tidlig mai var det for tidlig for å bruke bassenget og uteområdet var avstengt pga arbeid.

Porto Empedocle è un posto terribile. La struttura è un buon appoggio per visitare la Valle dei Templi, è tenuta discretamente (anche se un po'datata), è pulita. Il rapporto qualità prezzo è corretto, ma non la sceglierei nuovamente.

Das Hotel strahlt den Charme eines edlen Hotels vergangener Zeiten aus. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist toll, auch wenn es direkt am Hotel sehr flach ins Meer geht. Obwohl wir im Oktober da waren, war der Pool bei Sonnenschein geöffnet. Beim Frühstück hat mir der Service gar nicht gefallen - Plastikbecher für uns, Gläser für Studiosus. Den Kaffee bekamen wir z.T. erst nach dem Frühstück, obwohl 2 Damen an der Bar waren und eine servierte und abräumte. Der Frühstückssaal ist sehr elegant. Die Auswahl gut, auch wenn frisches Obst fehlte. Die Rezeption war jederzeit zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit.

Hotel bien situé en bord de plage et à 20 min à pieds de la la scalia dei Turki. Hotel qui nécessiterait un rafraichissement en particulier des salles de bain. Attention le parking est payant en plus du prix ce qui n'est pas claire dans le descriptif. Bon petit déjeuner.
