I loved the unique decoration styles throughout the lounges—they give the place a luxurious charm. The rooms are very clean, but the building itself feels older and could use some updates. The staff were wonderful: friendly, pleasant, and never intrusive.
My favorite part was the swimming pool. With palm trees all around and the gym close by, it felt like stepping into a tropical forest from a distant era, complete with antique touches in the design. Breakfast offered a few Burmese dishes, though I wish there were more choices.

Of the hundreds of hotels that I’ve stayed at in Asia over the past 20 years this is one of the very best! And I so wish I could stay at the Chatrium again in the future, because pretty much everything was perfect. The only problem is some highly inappropriate material displayed in the main reception area, and so in good conscience I cannot ever stay at this fine hotel in the future. Thanks so much for all the great memories from previous stays. Your accommodations and staff have been spectacular

The Chatrium is reputed to be one of the luxury hotels in Yangon. It did not measure up to my idea of luxury. The room was nice, but the toilet did not flush completely. My room felt like it was above a club even though the club was across the street. I could feel the beat vibrations in the room. My experience was also tainted by the huge amount of people at the hotel because of the Thingyan festival. It was not a quiet, relaxing experience. They did, however, have really good fish and chips.

This was my second time staying at Chatrium and they really rolled out the red carpet for me! They upgraded my room and left me a complimentary fruit basket and personalized welcome letter.

The room amenities were upgraded too. This is my favorite hotel for staycatuons by far and their spa is top notch and their dinner options are superior. I must also mention how their breakfast caters to Western tastes with also vegetarian options and local Burmese options.

The cafe has so much to offer as well, and their wait staff--especially Ms. Bam Bam are extremely friendly, helpful, and doting.

I highly recommend staying here and taking advantage of all the offerings.

I love how it wasn’t just a hotel. It was an immersion into Thai, but also Myanmar culture. The restaurant served the best international breakfast I’ve had while in Asia and it also had the best Thai food I’ve had in either Thailand or Myanmar.

The staff goes above and beyond, and they are super friendly and helpful. they have many things on site such as their spa, but they also have a very beautiful swimming pool. They upgraded my room so that I could have a stunning view of the famous pagoda. Needless to say, I will be staying here again, and I might make it a monthly staycation.

The hotel is located next to a big lagoon which is perfect for running. It is surrounded with trees, looks and feels exotic. One of the best features of this hotel is how friendly and accommodating the staffs are. We arrived late and our room was ready with the air-conditioning on and a tea sachet with a sweet note from the room service staff. We have to leave very early to catch an early flight and the breakfast was ready as they promised. They have good selection of food and everything was perfectly delivered.

Beautiful hotel, but of course, my impression was coloured by the fact that they upgraded me to a Club Level room on the top floor with marvellous views of the Shwedagon Pagoda lit up at night. How could I not be happy? Excellent value for money even had I not gotten the upgrade. A copious buffet breakfast was included in the price and staff were delightful. Swimming pool was enormous and surrounded by swaying palms. Pity I was only overnighting ...

Our stay was WONDERFUL... until it WASN'T. We stayed on the club level floor and only ate at the hotel. In fact, we didn't even leave the property. On day 2, we both got violently ill. I'll spare you the details, but it was both of us, and it was BAD! It was definitely food poisoning, and, as mentioned, we had only eaten at the hotel. In the middle of the night, I could actually hear the man in the room next door throwing up as well. Worst night ever. We called the front desk, and they brought more toilet paper and anti-diarrheal meds... but no apology, and they never checked in with us again. The next day (and it was a lllloooonnnggg night taking turns in the bathroom), my partner stumbled up to the executive level desk to ask for a late checkout since we literally could barely move. Although they did (eventually) grant it, there was no sympathy, reaction, apology, or concern whatsoever. Highly disappointing on even a human level let alone a \"5 star hotel\" level. I would never recommend staying here not only based on the fact that we got food poisoning, but even more on the fact that they knew and didn't try to help in any way, shape, or form.

Professional. cheerful service, amazing value for money, great location and what has to be the best breakfast array humanly possible. I highly recommend this hotel. the only 'buts' are the mattress was a bit lumpy considering everything else was to the highest standard, and the costs of the a la carte on-site dining is rather high compared to excellent Myanmar restaurants. Buffet prices, though, are not exorbitant. Nonetheless if your currency is USD it might seem more than reasonable.

At the beginning of my trip to Myanmar I spent 10 days at the Chatrium it was so good I decided to end my trip with three more days at the Chatrium. Great amenities, fantastic pool, beautifully appointed hotel, great location, excellent buffet breakfast. But the service staff is the best!!

This is a huge hotel that is a bit out of the way. The rooms are decent and are being upgraded so they will be even better. The restaurants are only OK, there aren’t many vegetarian options to be had here. This is also a hotel that is really set up for large tour groups. The one thing that is stellar is the pool. Really outstanding. But this hotel is a bit out of the way of most attractions. Not bad for one night in and out of the city on your way to other parts of Myanmar but not the best for a solo traveler.

This hotel is beautifully appointed the rooms are spacious the entire staff from check in to check out were friendly. The patio bar and grill is beautiful with fantastic views, the pool setting surrounded by palm trees is so relaxing after a day of touring. The location is excellent easy walk to the huge temple complex and shuttle service to downtown. The staff is what I remember most Gary and Danny at the cafe and Nolan at the breakfast room went the extra mile. have stayed at this hotel five times and it just gets better. I will return after a week of touring to end my trip with four daysAt the excellent hotel.

This hotel is set in lush greenery and is located near to a lake. Very ideal for families because its away from the hustle n bustle of the city but not too far. The breakfast spread is very good and the seafood buffet dinner is superb. The staff is friendly n attentive but not intrusive. I highly recommend this hotel. You will not regret it.

Lovely hotel, but events and music way too loud

It was a beautiful hotel with lots of comfortable options to relax during the day in shared spaces. However, 3 of the 4 days I was there, they set up for private events (an anniversary party, birthday, and another event) in the one open shared space --- the porch and pool area --- and the set-up and loud music really took over that entire area between around 4-10pm all three times. The other disappointment was that even from the restaurant porches, the blasting sound made the whole outdoor area less than enjoyable --- and I could hardly read in my hotel room even with the windows closed due to that sound! I visit Yangon frequently and this was such a nice hotel; but, I would suggest it hold those private events in private rooms and leave the open space there for the rest of us who have paid to stay. I'd be hesistant to recommend for that reason alone.

Very nice choice at breakfast with some great touches.

Location is a bit 'out of town' though the free shuttle was a nice consideration and anyway as taxi prices are very low, it did not really pose much of a problem.

The hotel faces Kandawgyi Lake and is only separated by a road; impressive views of the lake and Shwedagon Paya in the distance.

The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle bus service which is a huge plus for tourists.

Excellent stay! We spent most of our holiday touring/cycling Myanmar so wanted 2 nights of luxury as a treat for the end of the holiday. We had a fabulous 2 nights, excellent room with a view of the Lake and Stupa. We used the free shuttle into Yangon but walked back, just over 3 miles so a great location if you like to walk. The restaurant ONYX just around the corner was fabulous too if you fancy a night out of the hotel.

The pool was very nice too although they just need to sort out the filter covers in the pool as they were broken or missing. The room was very nice the shower area was looking tired but that just needs minor work. Lovely property overall and if you need a taxi to the airport they will call one for you

Welcome was good but we were disappointed that on arrival the first time, having asked for a large double bed (which always acknowledged), we were asked whether we minded twin beds. The receptionist stated that they had run out of doubles. She offered to have the beds moved together which we requested the following day, though that was less than ideal.
On our second check in we were surprised to be advised again that we would only have twin beds. While our first check in was very late in the day, this was only late afternoon, so we objected. The receptionist said she would upgrade us but the new room was on the same floor as our previous room and was a lake view as the other was and we had paid the same amount for the room, so we are not sure why this rated as an upgrade. The overall condition of the second room was also not as good as the first. In particular the air conditioning was poor.

Old and isolated hotel that badly need modernizing

The hotel decor is outdated nut maintained fairly clean. Some outdoor furnitures are old and run down. I was given a noisy room that faces a Karaoke bar opp the hotel. Luckily they agree to change my room. They also provide free one way shuttle as this hotel is quite isolated. No shops or restaurants. The bus is old and a real rambo van. They serve a good breath fast though. The manager Simon is quite helpful.

This property has the right balance of service without being intrusive. Food was truly amazing and the facilities very well maintained in a truly harsh humid climate. There are very well located reminders of very famous people who stayed there like Hillary Clinton, Obama and Shinzo Abe that are true testimony of how the aim for the best to their guest. Wonderful experience!!

The Chatrium is a beautiful property with a staff who will stop at nothing to make you happy. Very unfortunately it is seriously marred by moldy smells in the rooms. We tried about 4 and finally settled on one we thought we could endure, this ordeal taking place about 10pm after a long day. Although the staff did everything they could to address the problem there wasn't much they could do. Don't know whether it's the old ventilation system or what. Very surprising to us at a property of this standard. I hope they will try and succeed at finding a remedy.

Absolutely amazing hotel - everything was as we wanted and more. We actually liked the fact we were a little way out of downtown because other hotels such as The Strand were a bit to noisy and busy. Just get a Grab taxi for around 3000kyat into most areas of town.

I like the spacious room, the location, ambient, and general overall of the fell of the hotel. The only little unpleasant thing I experienced is that one afternoon after my dinner at the hotel restaurant, had my \"Do Not Disturb\" sign on the door. Still some one knocked my door, it was one of the waiter from the restaurant saying that I could not charge my room for the meal and had to collect cash from me.

Booked an executive room. Price for this was very reasonable in my opinion. Was very favorably impressed by the service and amenities offered by the hotel, particularly all of the perks that comes with an executive room such as afternoon tea, happy hour, restaurant discounts, laundry.

Also, the restaurants on-premise were excellent.

Recommend booking an executive room - online and in advance, in order to get the best price.
