Not a 5 star anymore

In short, not worthy it’s 5stars and by no means it’s price tag. Hotel had its best years probably 20 years ago. The rooms are old and stuffy. Not properly cleaned with dust on shelves.

The dinner and breakfast was mediocre.

The worst part however was the staff. Starting with the hotel manager who didn’t put any efforts into welcoming and engaging with guests. Concierge and other staff was unfriendly and careless. For example cars standing outside were not locked after being moved by staff, shuttle service to the ski lifts was not available in an efficient way - after waiting for 20min and follow up question the response from the staff that was clearly just chilling was that they are not running a bus service…

Overall worst 5 star experiences. Not worthy the 5. Would not recommend to anyone considering the cost “benefit” ratio.

I was a bit worried before visiting Steigenberger Grandhotel Belvedere Davos because I saw some negative reviews in the past. But after spending a week in here (room 127 - checked in on 21st December 2022), I can confirm this is a true 5 stars hotel!! It is the 5th times I came to Davos skiing with my families and we stayed in another 5 stars hotel before. I have to say that Steigenberger Davos gave us the best Christmas experience.

All staff were friendly and helpful. Excellent house keeping. Great service in restaurants - especially the waiter and chef in Romeo & Juliet restaurant. Pool area was well maintained by the joyful staff we meet. Great pianist and staff in the bar. Cheerful receptionists in front desk. Both ladies in the kids club were amazing. All drivers of the shuttle service were so helpful and they helped us with our luggages when we checked in/out with a smile. The marketing lady had organised 5 days of very memorable Christmas themed events (from 22nd to 26th December) that my daughter, my wife and I loved so much. The male manager was very visible day and night - he was so ready to help any guests immediately should any problems arise.

Well I can go on for another hour lol… But I think it is best if you come to visit this hotel and experience it yourself. Big thank you for the great team in Steigenberger Davos giving my family such a wonderful holiday. We will certainly come back again in the future!!

Great Skiing Vacation Hotel in Davos

Had a great stay at Belvedere during our skiing holiday under good Corona safety measures. Nice spacious rooms, great service and restaurant. Fantastic choice of dishes - for kids and adults alike. Also newly renovated wellness/pool area is nice - only pool water could be warmer... not only for kids, but for me as well. Complimentary ski shuttle, going to Jakobshorn as well as Parsenn, is highly appreciated and used.

Amazing experience. The historic lounges and dinning areas and hallways remain impressive. The pool has a separate architecture with refreshments and fruits just there and no staff unless u need them. The most impressive thing is staff payed attention to every little detail. They make you feel like a king.

Wonderful, friendly, helpful, kind staff, especially Armin, lead by an amazing manager, Tina Heidi. Nothing was too much for them and the service was excellent! We actually hugged several members of staff goodbye as they had been so good to us. Felt like we were saying goodbye to friends.

For sure the Best in Davos

You feel home the minute you arrive, great front of house service starts with immediate help for luggage and parking, front desk knows all your preferences and concierge never excepts no for an answer. Great first impression just gets topped by spacious and clean. The room service stands out same as the team at the Bar, from passionate ambitious bar keeping and knowing guest specific preferences. Breakfast and all other food offers are excellent. So thanks again for making our suite a true home for last 10 days. We are back for sure... G Buller

We went to Davos to ski and this was the perfect hotel! They had a shuttle to take you to and from the slopes and a warm place to store your skis and boots at night. The hotel was wonderful and the staff were extremely friendly. We also really enjoyed listening to the wonderful piano music at the bar while unwinding from a long day of skiing! I would highly recommend this hotel!

Don't Stay Here If Need Flexible Travel Plans.

I reserved room through Expedia; did not pay in advance. Once there, I needed to change travel plans and depart one day prior than scheduled. Hotel insisted that since I booked through Expedia that they \"had to\" charge me for the final night even though I was checking out early. Expedia could not or would not help. Forced to pay for extra night when checked out (Nothing in the fine print anywhere). Hotel very stubborn regarding me paying for a night after I checked out. So if you need to have flexible travel plans consider one of the may other fine options.
The hotel was probably at one time a truly Grand European Hotel; this is still their corporate vision, but certainly is not part of the corporate culture with the employees. Sort of Disneyesque play acting.

Will stay elsewhere next year.

We stopped at Davos on our way from Lake Como back to the UK. Th weather had been terrible travelling through rain so the lovely welcome we received from reception cheered us up as well as the offer of a drink of juice. The room was lovely and the hotel spa was perfect for some exercise in the pool and sauna to ease the aches if travelling. The hotel has recently been renovated and the lounge was very nicely decorated and comfortable. The food was very good but a little expensive. When we checked out we received bottles if water for our onward journey which was a nice touch.

Most enjoyable stay at Steigenberger hotel. Excellent service, very welcoming, especially Alexj on reception who answered all our questions in excellent English. The hotel is in a quiet location, at the top of the town, about 15 mins walk from the station, across the road from a park and about 1 mile from Davos lake. The free breakfast was excellent including salmon, prosecco etc. Omelettes were freshly made to order by the chef. The pool and spa are excellent. The hotel seemed good value especially compared to hotels in other parts of Switzerland of a similar price. The free mini bar with water, beer and coke was an added bonus. Many thanks to all the staff.

Comfortable, well managed hotel

A most comfortable hotel with ample public rooms, swimming pool with gym, range of dining options and well furnished bedrooms and bathrooms.
The main hotel restaurant offers a three course 'gourmet' dinner with a choice of dishes - menu changes each evening. This can be included in the half-board rate which proved to incredibly good value! An appetising breakfast is served here with wide ranging choices always available until 11:00 hrs.
There is also an a-la-carte restaurant which we had intended to try but the included main restaurant were too good to miss!
The bedroom was well furnished with a lovely balcony overlooking Davos to mountains beyond. The bathroom was fully tiled in marble. Unfortunately the floor became extremely slippery and no non-slip mat was provided for use in the walk-in shower. Care was required.

Certainly a Five Star Stay

We were very impressed with the hotel, pool, location and restaurant. The only negative to our stay was we arrived at about 9 pm after a long drive. Upon checking in at the front desk, we were told the hotel restaurant would be open until 10:30 so we went to our room and decided to freshen up and change clothes. We made it to the restaurant prior to 10 pm only to discover no one was there and it had already closed. The front desk told us that they would call the kitchen to see if anyone was working but after waiting 15 minutes in the bar area for someone to tell us what to do we gave up and went back to our room without dinner making for a long hungry night. The breakfast the next morning, however, was excellent.

We were in Davos for 3 nights. We were really looking forward to using the Steigenberger concierge service to help us decide the best activities and restaurants but when we arrived we were told there was no concierge....While the staff was helpful - the shuttle driver took us to our snowshoeing lesson that was 25 minutes away - I was less than impressed with most of the service. Also, they charged us for the extra converter (we spent 12 days in Europe and were never charged in any of the other 6 hotels). They also lost our key (they have the kind you return to the desk when you leave) and they could not find it for over 20 minutes. It was hung on the wrong room number. Overall a good stay, but for the money, I've had better experiences.

I had some of the best service in terms of drivers, spa and kitchen staff - they really went the extra mile. But watch out in the reception where they called me a taxi that drove me around the city for a restaurant that was 3 doors down, and booked me a ski instructor whose English was as good as my German. They weren't apologetic about those facts either, even when I made a complaint. So in my opinion they have a long way to go in terms of (part) service.

Nice place to stay after a days skiing...

We stayed here for one night after skiing in Davos.
It is obvious that the staff are all highly trained on excellent customer service.
The spa was a great place to relax after skiing.
The complementary buffet breakfast the next morning was excellent...not your typical buffet breakfast.

Guestroom was poorly appointed - TV in impractical position beside the bed and safe box outdated and no key provided.

Bathroom was fairly new although the walk-in tub shower isn't really 5 star. Decor and furnishing of room was dated and old fasion.

Actually this hotel looks very good from the outside, much nicer than most other hotels in Davos. The inside looks good as well, but it is way overpriced. I had dinner twice in different restaurants in the hotel. First time the food was good, but the service was poor. Second time the service was good but the food was below average. Both times the prices where extreme.
So everything was good, but for the price they charge I expect really top service and high quality food.
There are only two very small elevators with not much more than 1 square meter of space.
I had to leave the hatel very early in the morning and there was no breakfast at that time and coffee only with sugar, but no milk.
The breakfast on the other days was very good, but the service was below average. I really had to approach the waiters to ask for coffee and many tables where not clean and used by other guest.
This is the reason I rate this hotel as \"not good\".
Just a matter of the balance between price and quality.
They charge for the use of internet. It is the same price per minute as calling with my mobile phone to my home country. I have been in the best hotels in the world with perfect service and excelent food. Much lower prices and internet for a low fee or even free!

Great service. Great place to stay in Davos. Want to go again

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. Prices in Davos are high everywhere, so as long as you accept that and know that it's not just the hotel, you will be happier. Breakfast was really good. I went during the Swiss Alpine Marathon, and since the hotel was one of the marathon sponsors, it actually served breakfast early so that the runners could eat before the race. That shows how much they cared about us. The staff was very friendly, and I would love to go back.

Das Personal war zwar freundlich aber leider sehr unterbesetzt für ein 5 Stern Hotel.
Unser Zimmer war eher klein und die Kaffemaschine konnte man nicht benützen weil die Steckdose nicht funktionierte.
Der sogenannte Playroom ist ungepflegt und nichts ist dort komplett. Der PingPong Tisch ist noch grad knapp ok, es war nur ein Schläger da und der andere kaputt. Es gab keine Bälle. Der Billiard Tisch ist ganz aber es fehlen Kugeln und Queue. Der Tischfussball Tisch ist nicht zu benutzen, die Griffe sind kaputt. Das ist ungenügend aus meiner Sicht und sollte dringend in Stand gestellt werden.
Das Essen war sehr gut. Der junge Mann an der Bar abends war sehr nett und freundlich und hat einen 5 Stern Job gemacht. Der Pool und der Whirlpool und das Wellness war super und sehr schön.
Schade, dass so am Personal gespart wird weil die, die dort sind können dafür nichts. Aber wir Gäste sind dann halt auch nicht zufrieden wenn man sein Gepäck komplett alleine die Treppe hoch und ins Zimmer bringen muss.....(und wir haben drei Kinder, das ist einiges an Gepäck....)

Für uns halt keine 5⭐️

Vorab kann man sagen, unser Aufenthalt vom 31.12-3.1 war sehr schön aber nach einigen Nächten in 5 Sterne Hotels, würden wir sagen, dieser Aufenthalt war keine 5 Sterne wert.

das ganze fing schon bei der Ankunft an. Kein Page, kein Consierge, ab 15:00 wäre check in, um 16:00 sagte man uns sie hätten leider Mitarbeiter welche kurzfristig krank geweordwn sind, es dauert noch 20 min. Um 16:30 hiess es noch immer 20 min. Nun an Silvester wenn das Menü um 19:00 startet hat man nicht so viel lust mit dem Gepäck 1 std. Unten warten zu müssen. Man hätte ja mindestens etwas zu trinken anbieten können.
Beim Essen Fondue chinoise... 1 Teller mit Rind/Chalb/POULET/Shrimps alles roh. Das gekochte Fleisch musste man in den selben Teller zurücklegen wo das rohe Poulet ist. Das müsste man eigentlich nicht erklären müssen. Aber die meisten Gäste haben da ungeniert alles im selben Teller gehabt.

Das es einen shuttle Bus hat, ist super, wenn man jedoch anruft um die abholung zu organisieren nach 30min keiner kommt und man den bus nehmen muss, naja... halt nicht 5 Stern. Erst recht wenn die 2 Shuttles und der Fahrer bei der Rückkehr vor dem Hotel stehen.

Dann zack auf Zimmer, ohje... es sind wohl noch mehr Mitarbeiter krank geworden.. denn unser Zimmer ist um 17:00 noch nicht gemacht.

Gepäck bei der Ankunft selber aufs Zimmer geschleppt. Beim Shuttle jeweils den Fahrer beneidet welcher einfach nur im Auto geblieben ist, während man selber be und entladen hat... ja kann man machen...

Für mich das beste Hotel in Davos

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit (insbesondere Frau Rucka und Frau Rellstab).
Beim Bezug des Zimmers fand ich frische Früchten, einige Macarons und 4 Pralinés vor, was mich wirklich sehr freute. Das historische Hotel ist insgesamt sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und auch sehr sauber.
Das Frühstücks-Buffet lässt absolut keine Wünsche offen und war frisch und lecker. Ich habe den tollen Wellness-Bereich jeden Tag sehr genossen. Dieses Hotel ist im Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis kaum zu toppen.
Besten Dank dem ganzen Personal; ich komme wieder!

Tolles Hotel mit herausragendem Service

Wir haben unseren 5 tägigen Skiurlaub im Steigenberger Davos sehr genossen. Der Service ist rundum großartig, wie u.a. der Shuttle zur Skistation. Der Wellnessbereich ist großzügig, sehr sauber und modern. Es gibt verschiedene Restaurants im Hotel, die wir teilweise besucht haben und sehr zufrieden waren. Wir kommen jederzeit gerne wieder.

Tolles Hotel, gerne wieder.

Ein tolles Hotel. Schöne Zimmer, gute Betten, schönes Bad (Duschwand sollte aber grösser sein), bei geschlossenen Fenstern war es ruhig. Super house keeping (sehr sauber und effizient, gut fanden wir auch, dass Frotteetücher und Bettwäsche nicht ständig gewechselt wurden. Das ist wirklich unnötig.) Einzig der Wasserverbrauch der Toilette war enorm - da würde die Hälfte völlig reichen. Frühstück war sehr gut, ausser den pancakes, das waren eher Omeletten. Sehr freundliches Personal. Wellness und Gym haben wir nicht benutzt, sieht aber auch sehr schön aus. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Week-end à la montagne

Cet hôtel est certes vieillot mais le confort et la propreté sont absolus.
Le personnel est adorable (des femmes de chambres au personnel du restaurant en passant par la réception). Le service à la clientèle est parfait.
De plus, la nourriture est excellente et le chef a des idées très originales.
Le séjour était parfait, merci beaucoup.

Zeitgeist verpasst aber gutes Personal

Der Fokus liegt in diesem altehrwürdigen Hotel mehr auf Historie und teurer Einrichtung und weniger auf zeitgemässen konkurrenzfähigen Themen.

Zimmer extrem klein. Badezimmer müsste modernisiert werden (Wasser läuft permanente über den Wannenrand und muss mit Tüchern am Boden aufgesogen werden)!

Wellness ganze 5 Liegen im Ruheraum - viel zu klein. Im Pool war es eher ein Kinderpool mit den farbigen Wassernudeln (geht gar nicht). Nicht mal Tee nur Wasser verfügbar!

Essen: Im Bistro sehr mittelmässig. Wer kein Zürchergeschnetzeltes mit Rösti kochen kann hat in der Küche in einem 5-Stern wenig verloren (als Gastrokind) kann ich mir dieses Urteil erlauben. Wer zudem kaum glutenfreies Essen verfügbar hat (trotz Voranmeldung) hat den Zeitgeist verpasst.

Hundehotel: Als Tierliebhaber habe ich grundsätzlich nichts gegen Hunde. Aber im Essbereich gehören aus hygienischen Gründen kein grossen Hunde, wie Dogen die über Tischhöhe sind. Dies habe ich so in der ganzen Welt noch nie gesehen. Zudem ist das Hotel im gesamten Bereich mit Teppichen ausgestattet - ist verzichte auf das Kino.

Aus meiner Sicht fehlt hier die Positionierung. Familien- und Hundehotel welches viel von der Historie zerrt aber nicht wirklich im hier und jetzt angekommen ist. Wird aus meiner Sicht die nächste Generation nicht mehr abholen.

Top war aber das gut geschulte Personal.

Dass sogar die Abrechnung beim Check-out falsch war bestätigte meine Eindrücke! Schade!

Der Shuttlebus war uns vom Bahnhof abholen gekommen. Dies war auf Vorbestellung problemlos anmeldbar!
Sehr netter Empfang ander Rezeption, und ein wunderbares Nachtessen im Voilà -Restaurant im Hotel. Wir kommen sicher wieder!

It was as last year super to stay at Grandhotel Belvedere. We are used to 5 star hotels and good service and this hotel give us what we want, good clean room, good service, perfect bar and restaurants and transports to the ski area, its all good.

Sehr schönes Hotel mit wunderbarer Einrichtung. Sehr feines Essenmit tollem Ambiente. Zimmer sehr sauber mit allem was man braucht.

Leider ist der Boden im Badezimmer extrem kalt im Winter und die Duschbruse hat nicht in der Halterung festgehalten. Sonst war alles TOP!

Sehr schönes Grandhotel mit toller Einrichtung. Zimmer sind gross und gemütlich. Verschiedene Restaurants im Hotel. Bedienung etwas langsam und z.T. unmotiviert. Essen und Angebot sehr empfehlenswert und preislich in Ordnung. Schöne Umgebung und gratis Ski- Shuttleservice zur Talstation und zurück.
