We were a group of 4 staying in rooms 9 and 11
Room 11 was clean in general but when packing to go home I noticed cobwebs and dust behind a chair .
Lots of condensation on windows can’t really be helped
Bathroom was large and clean but very cold despite towel rail at max.
Shower was hot but such a slow sprinkling difficult to stay warm
Room 9 towel rail and room radiator were stone cold probably need bleeding
Otherwise nice stay staff were kind friendly and helpful

Wall paper ripped and hanging of the wall. Shower broken. Could not get the cold tap to work so got scolded when used shower. (Did tell reception) bed was comfortable and slept well.
The pool area is okay. Could do with loungers for non swimmers to seat comfortably with a book whilst family swim.
Breakfeast was okay could be done with being cooked longer and scrambled egg was more like a sloppy omelette. ( obv done in microwave)

Super friendly staff, accommodating, great food for both dinner and breakfast. Large room, plenty of towels, lots of choice for teas/coffee. The pool was lovely and warm, great for all ages. A few tiles were a little run down around the pool and windows were cloudy but this was minor. I would also advise descaler/filter for the kettle.

Sets low expectations and fails to achieve them

Toilet not flushed, dirty towels hanging everywhere and lots of dead wasps on the window-sill. Spoke to reception - no apology or anything. Just told us to collect some towels when we next went past. Tired place but over-priced at £140.

Overall we were somewhat disappointed with our hotel room in Shaftesbury. While the room and bed were large it wasn’t particularly comfortable. The bathroom floor was dirty in places and our bed was really only just pulled up rather than made properly. There was a very strong smell of chlorine from the indoor pool as you walked down the corridor. Thank goodness there were mobile fans in our hallway which we turned on every day that we stayed. On the positive side parking was just outside and the hotel was very convenient to the sights of Shaftesbury. It was also quiet.

This is a nice hotel located close to the centre of Shaftesbury and easy access from the main road. Even though we booked a room with multiple beds (we assumed this was a twin room); it turned out to be a room with a double bed and a cot (I guess 2 beds) but not ideal when sharing with your mother! The room was very hot as well as we could turn off the radiator in the bathroom. Nice breakfast and pool though.

The bar and restaurant let this place down. The bar is spartan, like a school 1950s canteen, and had a filthy main glass table with ripped 2 year old \"Good housekeeping\" magazines laying on top....there's a misnomer.
My room was spotlessly clean and bed very comfortable.
Ate in the restaurant on my first night as it was bitterly cold and freezing outside, so didn't fancy going out. There was no heating on in the restaurant, when i asked why I was told it was on a timer. Ridiculous!

Room was dated. Woken at 5.40am by refuse truck emptying bins. At 7.30am fresh laundry was delivered to the hotel via fire escape next to my room. The bags were dropped loudly on the floor and against the wall of my room. When I looked outside the door there were approximately 12 large laundry bags piled up each side of my bedroom door. When I asked the cleaning staff later I was told this was the usual practice. I will be requesting a refund from the hotel.

The room, large and clean with comfortable bed, nice clean bathroom. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Food was good, breakfast cooked to order and lots of choice. The location of the Hotel is great for Shaftesbury town, a 12 minute walk takes you to the centre. We really liked it. We didn’t use the pool but it looks nice, although it seemed to be constantly used by locals mainly.

Was given a twin room despite booking a double room. I wouldn't normally be bothered but this was the second time this week this happened in different hotels. The single bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were awful. The room was spacious and warm but dated and there were signs of dust on the lamps etc so cleaning wasn't very good. Bathroom looked like it had recently been updated and was fine although when you stepped in the shower it felt like you might go through the tray! Food was good in the restarant though. Limited choice but it was actually quite good.

The reception staff were lovely. The man who welcomed us on arrival was particularly helpful and cheerful. The lady on reception was very helpful too…especially dealing with a slightly awkward situation with a man who thought he had left belongings in our room! The hotel itself is a bit ‘tired’ and could do with a bit of an upgrade. But, saying that, our room was clean and tidy and the king size bed was very comfortable in the ‘double room’ we booked. We used the swimming pool and sauna which was an added bonus. Again, the area was a bit ‘tired’ but we enjoyed it. We decided to use the shower in our room as the ones in the changing rooms smelt a bit. The food from the restaurant we had was particularly nice and so was the cooked breakfast. There was a really good choice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

View from room 22 was over front with car park and then fairly busy road.
Staff were courteous and helpful.
Pool was lovely albeit kidney shaped.
Parking was plentiful and had 2 disabled places much to our relief beside front entrance.
No lift and steep stairs to first floor.
Breakfast was plentiful and of great variety.
Would stay again.
Only problem was an alarm on next door room going off at 5.30am for 20 minutes. Apparently guest had left it minutely ajar. Tried phoning reception ONLY ansaphone not good enough when states reception open 24/7 and we were not sure what to do. Thankfully guest returned after 20 minutes and closed door.

Everything in the hotel took me back to my younger days and set us off a reminiscing about the 1990's. There are some nods to the 21st century but luckily they don't get in the way. The only downside is that the bathroom could have used some black mould remover in places. If you're looking for a class of 1997 reunion venue I would highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel desperately needs some illumination outside, it looks closed from the main road and the inroad and carparks are not lit at all, it must loose trade because of this if it wasn't for the satnav I would of passed it several times before seeing it.

The hotel was in a great location for our needs. The downside was we stayed in room 24 and it smelt awful as we were only there for 2 nights we put up with it. My mother in laws room was fine. I did let reception know. Bar service was slow at time. Food was great especially the breakfast. All.the staff work hard and are friendly.

Room was fine - comfortable beds (2 singles - 'comfort room'), everything worked, good-sized bathroom.

Prefer if different coffee brand used, as Nescafe are unethical (political activities, anti-social finance, likely use of tax avoidance strategies, animal testing, animal rights abuses, a poor approach to climate change and more). My wife's particular concern with them is that they contribute to the unnecessary death and suffering of infants around the world by aggressively marketing baby foods in breach of international marketing standards.

Restaurant used for evening meal - good quality and generous portions - and for breakfast. Full Breakfast was '1 of each' - would have quite liked >1 mushroom, egg, bacon etc (perhaps I should have been bold and asked), but it did also include all the continental options too so overall still decent value for full breakfast.

Swimming pool was reasonable size and a nice addition (a jacuzzi would have been even better!), but not keen on the very small changing-room, with the urinal just round the corner from the very small square section with bench and shower The spray from the shower and water flow to plug was encroaching on the bench area. Also walls were grey concrete looking - seemed like they needed to have some paint or tiles on to vastly improve the look.

Overall, though, recommend the hotel for a good value Sun to Mon stay-over as we explored Shaftesbury and wider area.

Quiet country hotel in Shaftesbury

Parking is easy although I recommend not parking near the trees/hedge as the car was covered in sap and debris in the morning. The lovely looking swimming pool which helped us choose this hotel was closed for maintenance every time we wanted to use it. Breakfasts were good. A little overpriced for the tired looking room.

Considering i spent over 130 for a night for this hotel it was not what i expected. Seemed more like a care home than a hotel. Rooms didnt look like they did on the pictures and neither did the property. It needs updating badly. Beds were very worn and mattressing had springs coming through. The bathroom that looked quite new was dirty. Staff were welcoming and friendly though.

So I think the rooms must vary greatly, we were staying for a wedding and some people said there rooms were nice and modern with good showers, our was small, boiling hot and dated with not enough hot water for us both to have a shower. When we arrived late at night after the wedding the window was wide open and it was still boiling hot, we slept on top of the bed with the window and curtains open, not a great nights sleep followed by a very disappointing shower in a not at all modern bathroom
