Myself and my children absolutely loved it here. Really disappointed that we hasn't booked a 2nd night. The food was amazing, the staff incredibly helpful and one of the best bits for me was having a mini fridge and milk. Will 100% be back here again.

Nice hotel / pub close to Blandford town! Everything was perfect in the room with a mini fridge with milk, water, kettle etc for us. It was very clean, tidy, safe and very friendly whilst staying there. Only downside is it is a bit out dated need to replace the mattress as it was very old.

Perfectly decent pub accommodation, in a separate building set back from the pub which is ideal in case is worried about noise. Fairly basic facilities (note no toiletries are provided) but a nice touch having a small fridge with free bottled water and proper milk for tea/coffee!

OK but could have been better.

We had a two night stay. Welcome and check in was great. Also effort on first night to accommodate us for an evening meal at the pub was excellent, the food was also really good and a reasonable price. While the room was fine for our trip (size etc) there were a few things that let it down, (1) bathroom floor was wet on arrival - we thought that was fine as probably just been cleaned, however, we had to use towel to dry floor and the towel was extremely dirty afterwards suggesting water was dirty when cleaning it in the first place.(2) shower tray was dirty - someone’s hair still present around plug hole (3) when using shower, the water did not drain quickly and overflowed from the shower tray onto the bathroom floor (4) bed linen was worn (bobbly) on the double bed, duvet cover was inside out and one of the other beds the linen had pen marks.(5) although tea / coffee making was available this was not replenished through the stay so we ran out of tea and sugar. That aside there were some nice touches in the room, bottled water and milk in the mini fridge was nice touch. Unfortunately the little negatives just took it down to an average stay rather than a very good stay.

Excellent food, hot, good choice and reasonably priced. No option to choose breakfast however there is a list in the room detailing menus and prices for nearby establishments who offer breakfast. We opted to visit a large Tesco store less than 5 mins drive away. Pub was closed when we departed and unsure how we could check out therefore simply left the key in the door. Room was a good size and clean. Brita kettle, small table top style fridge and crisp white bed linen and towels. All in all a good stay however exterior very tired and in need of painting.

The accommodation is at a separate block at the rear of the pub. Whilst you can eat your evening meal in the pub there is no option for breakfast (though there maybe an in-room continental option). Room was in poor condition with windows fixings broken and light over shower not working. Fixtures and fittings were very worn and cleanliness was poor. Food in the pub was reasonable.

Good little stop over

Located at the back of the pub, the accommodation was small, but practical.
The beds were comfortable and facilities adequate. The room was quite warm and the roof window was the only option for ventilation. There was a few signs of wear and tear, but overlooked.
It is close to the main road, so vehicle noise is noticeable. Plenty of parking, and check-in is via the pub, who also offer food.
It was okay for a quick stop over.

Couldnt get kettle under the tap, so had to fill it using the mug.
Shortage of 13A sockets. One under coffee table for kettle and a double hidden behind the dressing table but only one functional and that was used by the mini fridge. So decisions had to be made regarding which to lose in order to charge phone.
So faulty socket and soap dispenser in shower area wanted to fall off the wall when bottle pumped and sadly no one around in the morning to report it to. (Auto check-out, no reception)

The rooms were very clean and set up for tea/coffee making with fresh milk in the fridge. Brilliant hair dryer in the room too and powerful shower in the bathroom which was spotless.
The staff gave us a very warm welcome.
We dined in the pub which has an extensive menu choice including a small appetites menu.
The food was excellent, very well presented and tasty. Would highly recommend dining here.

Great location with really good food, it’s a lovely pub with helpful staff.

But I’ll be honest, the rooms walls were peeling away from the wall, bed wasn’t great which gave me a bad back. Also, the light outside the only window was on all night which kept me up most the night couldn’t tell if it was night or day

But over priced for what it is and for the time of year. But I get it as times are hard at the moment with rates going up.

Excellent accommodation for solo travellers

As a solo traveler I found my stay (two nights) very enjoyable. The room was clean and spacious for a single room. There were all the amenities, fridge, kettle, towels, parking spaces etc. I felt secure even though my room was apart from the main building. I invited my friend to join me for a meal in the restaurant and we both found it to be excellent. The only issue was breakfast wasn’t served but that hasn’t deterred me from recommending the Charlton Inn to my well travelled daughter.

Someone stole the electric...

Service was great, very friendly staff, sadly we had a few issues, we stayed for two nights on the first night some robbers stole cables to the rooms so the electric was cut off, as a safety feature the emergency light came on and stayed on most of the night causing poor sleep.

The shower cubicle was to small due to the nature of the showing head.

Room while clean was not that comfy and not enough tea or coffee considering it was a family room.

Breakfast was strange, a basket with some pastry, yougat, fruit ect was left each night. Would probably have been better to say no breakfast available?

Very comfortable simple overnight accommodation. The staff were a little overwhelmed with customers in the pub and checkin wasn’t clear but I slept well. The only issue I had was the outside light was right outside my window and the curtains were too thin, and didn’t meet, so I couldn’t shut it out.
The simple breakfast basket was full and not too bad value I would suggest 😊

A real gem

As soon as we arrived the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and welcoming. Our room was ready and perfect. It’s a continental breakfast, but we were spoiled for choice. The facilities in the room were great.
Beds were very comfortable, great nights sleep and the bathroom was great.
We also had dinner at the Inn and it is one of the friendliest places with fantastic value for money on the food and wonderful ales.

The welcome was nice. In a outbuilding across from the beer garden. Small but adequate. No TV remote which was frustrating when watching in bed. Evening meal in pub was nice. Last orders for food was 1945hrs. But breakfast let the place down. Pre made white pastries in bags from wholesaler. Instant porridge. Left in room on a tray to use. Not wholesome or tasty. Not a great start to the day.

Was pleasantly surprised with what we were faced with when opening our door. For the price we paid, the room was lovely and clean and just simply perfect for our stay. Just a half an hour drive from Bournemouth beach which is what we initially planned to do. Breakfast also took us by surprise. It was everything and more! Definitely worth the money you pay for it. Will be planning to visit again in the future :)

The barmaid checked me in and was very friendly and helpful. The room was good for the price paid.
I paid £10.00 for a breakfast which was in the room and consisted of quick porridge, cereal, muffin and cheese and biscuits. As I was only one person I did not feel this was good value for money. When you add breakfast to your selection this should state this is not a cooked breakfast

Decent size rooms but the timber floors mean you hear every footstep upstairs if you have a room downstairs as I did. Strongly recommend having the upstairs rooms... Feel fleeced over breakfast prepaid for £9.99 and then it turn out to be a basket with cereal and a croissant. Place serves food all day but not breakfast.

Quiet time alone .

I enjoyed my stay at the Charlton ,I chose it because it was very close to my family whom live in the area ,I felt very safe and comfortable staying there on my own and would do so again ,the food was excellent and they had a wide range of vegetarian food on the menu so I was able to spend the evening with my daughter having a nice meal ,the staff were really friendly ,the only negative comment I could make would be the mattress could do with replacing it needed to be firmer .

The inn provided a very nice breakfast and was the best part of the stay. Having said that it was only of the standard of what should be expected as a minimum for such type of accommodation.
Although free WiFi is, according to the description, provided none could be found! Furthermore there is no mobile signal in the area either, so if you want to escape modern life this is the place. Unfortunately we didn’t as due to family circumstances we needed to be in contact.
Neither were we impressed when ordering a glass of wine being offered the last dregs of the bottle. And told there was only enough for a small glass without any attempt to find another or even offered an alternative, as for the bar food let’s not even go there.

The lack of information. We were shown to our room but given no information about meal times, wi fi etc. We only found out when we went for breakfast on the Sunday morning that it is not automatic you have to pre book and the restaurant was closed on a Sunday. Wi fi never worked in the room. The shower had a fixed head which was right above you so your hair got soaked and there were no shower caps provided. Generally we were not impressed with the service. More suitable for business guests than people on holiday

Dog friendly near ferry port and great.

This was our 4th visit to the Charlton. It is within easy access to the Poole ferry port, dog friendly with good dog walking, a friendly pub selling excellent cask ales and food, great breakfast and welcoming staff. We will be back on our next Channel crossing.

Booked this as was visiting husbands mum in Blandford nearby. Arrived after dark and it was hard to find the light switch, should have brought a torch as accommodation in separate building behind the main pub, not very well lit. Room crammed with too much furniture, double bed very comfortable and bedding clean. Husband went over to bar to get a beer and said staff not friendly, quite rude. In daylight the next morning could see that the room was thick with dust, under the beds especially, there were cobwebs everywhere. The shower had a leak coming from underneath and the light over the sink did not work so rather dark, the toilet seat was cracked. The two flannels provided with the complimentary toiletries were filthy. I was glad to leave and will not be back!

We stayed here over night after a long journey from Yorkshire. The room was really nice and the bed comfortable.
But, the information said this pub does evening meals, they do, but not on a Sunday. We were offered a sandwich, which we declined. No where close by did food either.
Breakfast on Monday morning was delicious and plentiful.

Disabled toilet and shower that smelt of sewage and mouldy ceiling.
Asked for a change in room but usual story of we are fully booked.
Manager did go and buy an air freshener which did help.
