A drab and uncomfortable place to stay. For example, there is no colour or artwork in the room, there is no air conditioning (just an ineffective and noisy fan), the Wi-fi continually drops out and there are no tea or coffee making facilities. On the plus side, the sauna facilities are excellent…but otherwise very substandard.

!!!!!!!!!!! I have never written a hotel review before. Forget 5 stars give this hotel 10 stars. The service is caring and excellent My wife have been traveling through Europe visiting the Netherlands, France, Italy, and Germany for over two weeks and this is cleanest hotel that we have been in. It is up to date in its furnishings, attractive. We wish that we could have these accommodations every night.

The property is clean and staff is very nice. However, it could use a facelift. The decor is from late 1980’s to early 1990’s. There is no AC and it was very hot at night. They still use actual room keys instead of cards. The free breakfast buffet was outstanding. The location proximity to attractions was good. There was onsite hotel parking but you get charged extra.

VCH Luther-Hotel Wittenberg - nice place to stay

A but hard to find from the train station. Note: there are 2 stops close to each other...either one works. we left via the main station. Fortunately, a local store owner saw us struggling and gave us some help...we were 2 minutes away! Within easy walking distance to downtown...good places to eat. Nice hotel. There was a fan in the room that helped since it was warm. Would definitely recommend this property if you are staying in this town.

Liked my stay here, room is ok nothing out of this world but clean

The staff are very friendly

My only negative was that I was there when it was very hot and I couldn’t sleep due to the room being like a furnace. I did ask the night porter for a fan but it got lost in translation

Having said that it would be unfair to mark down the Hotel due to this as the staff, service and food were excellent and if you were staying any other time i’m Sure it would be fine

The surrounding area was a revelation in that there were plenty of places to see and eat

Nice hotel centrally located in Wittenberg

Regrettably the road that that offers access to the parking garage for the hotel and the front door of the hotel was being replaced which created a challenge checking in and generated much noise in the early morning. It would have been helpful before arriving to know about the road situation so that we could find the new parking location and identify the best process for checking in. Otherwise, everything was great.

This hotel is easy walking distance from all the main sites connected to Luther. We were there to definitely explore and learn about Luther. In the town square, the main town church where Luther was married and preached hete ate various special events, so it is good to have easy access to them. The cathedral featured in his protests is also nearby.

A Good Hotel well positioned in the centre of the town Quiet, good breakfast, spoilt by the lack of Aircon in our room, though a good fan was provided. Also spoiled by the fact that I was asked to pay in Pounds Sterling , not Euros. I said I
I wanted to pay in Euros but this was refused - not a good idea because of the poor rate of exchange.

Very dated . The staff didn't inform/remind us about breakfast that comes with the room.When I asked one gals she said it was 12E, then later another gal said it came with the room.... when checking out knowing we had a car, didn't offer to validate , so when we couldn't get out of their lot had to remark and go up to see what was up? Just frustrating .

Breakfast is a full breakfast with many food to choose from.
Got a free bicycle rental.
Had a Bible at the bedside for your use. It is so good to be Martin Luther's hometown and have access to a Bible.

This is a fine enough European hotel--don't expect it to be like a typical American hotel. You won't get (wasteful) tiny little bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and cute soaps: you'll get squeeze dispensers of what I call \"human wash\". No A/C either, nor even a fan. But in our family room, I had a huge work desk/area. Internet didn't work for last 24+ hours. But hotel is clean and otherwise nice.

American tip: ask for a glass of ice cubes at the bar.

A Hotel catering to older Lutheran pilgrims.

The hotel was fine, in general. The pillows were very thin. we asked for more pillows, and they were brought to us right away. The hotel description said that there was tea and coffee in the lobby. That was not true. The bar supposedly had tea and coffee to buy, but that is not usually the meaning of tea and coffee in the lobby, as a token of hospitality. In general, it was a hotel for older people (60+).

Love the Luther Hotel

A larger-than-life Luther greets you in the lobby, and still the hotel experience improves from there!

*The desk staff were amazing--helped us make restaurant reservations, gave directions, arranged taxis to the train, recognized members of our group who had been lost, etc.
*The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with some of the best bathrooms in the country.
*The breakfast is delicious, with a variety of hot dishes (eggs and meats) as well as cold cheeses, meats, breads, cereals, etc. There were about 10 flavors of jam to go with the 8 types of bread and whatnot.
*The location can't be beat--it is (technically) walking distance from the train station, at about 1km-ish, or maybe 15 minutes walk. The whole medieval town of Wittenberg (not large) is within a 10 minute walk, and the \"new\" part of town (post-17th-century) is 10 minutes in the other direction. It's only a few minutes to the Wittenberg Zoo--smallest zoo in Europe, so don't get your hopes up.
*The hotel feels very comfortable, both in the rooms and in the common areas.
*The wifi works better than almost any other hotel we stayed in on this trip.

Tip: when you get a taxi from the train station, be sure you say you want to go to the Luther Hotel. It's easy to say you want to go to the Luther House...which you do, but that's a museum a few blocks away from the hotel.

Good location. Good underground parking facilities at the hotel (unlike many places in old cities in Europe). Hotel itself is very nice, but there were no tea or coffee facilities in the room itself, which is a frequent problem in Europe outside 5 star hotels. To avoid getting thirsty at night, you either have to bring your own water, or ask for a jug of hot water from reception before you retire for the night. If you are driving, hotel will allow you to leave your car in the underground carpark after you check out if you want to spend more time in the town before you leave.

Easy access to Luther sites!

Luther Hotel - Wittenberg is a great place to stay if you are wanting to explore the historic Luther sites in Wittenberg. Within two blocks you are on quaint streets with interesting shops as well as the Castle Church, where Luther nailed his 95 theses to the church door; Lutherhaus, where he and Katherine raised their family and now houses the Luther Museum; Luther Monument; City Church of St. Mary; as well as other interesting sites. Warning - many sites are inaccessible due to restoration in anticipation of Luther's 500th Anniversary of nailing those 95 theses. We still enjoyed taking photos of the outside, but were only able to tour Lutherhaus Museum. Also, a warning for this hotel, it has no air conditioning. They do provide fans, which worked for us though.

I visited during Reformation Fest (October 31) and the town was hopping--it's like a RenFaire meets street fest--in the midst of a medieval town. booths of all kinds, from food to wine to indulgences to handmade jewelry; roving bands of renaissance musicians; churches hosting Luther hymn sings; a Confirmation Class parade. If you go during this time, be prepared for crowds. The rest of the year apparently it's a bit of a sleepy town. The Luther Hotel is in the midst of the town's attractions.

The hotel restaurant was full every night, but still serves no food, not even snacks, after 9pm. They do, however, have servers that take drink orders even out in the lobby's comfy couches.
Location was perfect--easy walking distance to everything. It may even be possible to walk to the train station, though I didn't have time or energy to figure that out. Be sure you are clear with a taxi driver when you arrive that you want the Luther HOTEL, not the Luther HOUSE. I thought I clarified, but I ended up dropped off a five minute walk away, after everything was closed and dark and I had luggage. Not the end of the world, but a tad frustrating.

The wi-fi doesn't really work in all the rooms (or at least it didn't in my room), and even when I hung out in the lobby to use it, it was incredibly slow. don't plan to upload photos from this stop on your vacation tour.

We stayed 2 nights here on the basis of an Internet recommendation. We were not at all disappointed. The location is excellent, away from the hustle and bustle of \"downtown\" Wittenberg. The provided breakfast was extensive and delicious. We would definitely stay here again if we ever come back to Wittenberg. The only downsides are that this and all hotels in Wittenberg are not in easy walking distance from the bahnhof, the WIFI reception is confined to the lobby and no air conditioning (but fans were available upon request)

This is just a block away from the pedestrian malls that run the length of the main tourist area from the Luther House to the Castle Church. You can be at either in just about 5 minutes' walk.

Internet access is only available in their lobby, though you have to write down a room-specific username and password.

The bed seemed hard, but I think that's a German thing, based on the other hotels I stayed at over the week.

I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff are excellent and did a great job helping us in English. They were able to help us with anything we asked. The hotel is clean and the breakfast is great! The shower is hot and very nice. The hotel is close to the train station, Castle Church, Town Church, and the Lutherhouse Museum. There is also a post bank (post office/DHL station) close by so you can mail the gifts home.

Great hotel and within walking distance to everything.

If you can find the hotel it is great. Wonderful underground parking so you do not need a car when exploring Wittenberg. However, hotel charges a daily fee of about $7.00. Museum in Wittenberg was a disappointment. I was expecting to find a great more history and things about Martin Luther than I did, however I can picture him in that town during his days at the University. We drove up from Oberramergau and it was about a 7 hour drive. The next day we drove back to Munich. Long drive just to see what we did. If in area it is a nice place to visit, but not sure I would drive that far again. If you are visiting Berlin, then a day trip to Wittenberg would be very good - only about 65 miles south.

Hotel is very clean, centrally located (5 Euro taxi fare from train station). The breakfast buffet included was bountiful and delicious. The only downside was the lack of AC in the rooms requires opening window for ventilation. Noise from the street and open bars on the street made sleep difficult until after 2AM.

The hotel is a great starting point to discover the city, just in the middle of the town. The room is large and there is a fantastic, clean bathroom.

Unfortunately the curtains are so small that they do not really cover the windows. There is no airco, so when you want to open the window at night, it is as if you sleep on the street, nice for the neighbours in front.

And although the town is very quiet during the day and the evening, they start the working day with lots of noises at 5 a.m. They told me that usually people stay 1 or 2 nights. They knew about the noise. So, I don't understand why they don't give a quiet room to someone staying 5 nights.

A small fridge would have been welcome, there is only 1 supermarket and it would be convenient to store a bit of fresh drinks.

Für den Preis enttäuschend: die Vorhänge zu klein, Schuhe musste man extra holen, Bademantel gab es die 1. Nacht gar nicht, nächster Tag 3 €, keine Handtücher in der Sauna, 2. Zimmer bessere Vorhänge, dafür Fahrstuhlgeräusche, Frühstücksraum überfüllt und dadurch Gedränge am Buffet, Kühlschrank nicht in Betrieb, keine Bodylotion, Säuberung musste angemeldet werden. In der Summe nicht gut für diesen Preis.
