For quality food, bad service but good room.

The food served isn't a part with an hotel of that standing. Breakfast has a limited choice and what is seven is all cheap in quality,. It's too bad. At lunch or dinner one has to wait a very long time and yet there was only some 8 guest eating. Bad timing with food service and the for is also barely warm. The housekeeping service was very good. The room are comfortable but the AC fan is much too loud even when set on low fan setting.

The staff at the front desk and restaurant as well as the porters were all very friendly and helpful. We found our room to be spacious, clean, and comfortable. The swimming pool was wonderful and offered a truly beautiful view of the city. If we find ourselves back in Makassar, we would stay here again. The food from the restaurant was just so-so, but it is available 24 hours, which is convenient if you need it.

The only negative was the hotel shuttle driver who met us at the airport, as he wasn't very friendly, never introduced himself, had two boys at the airport help with the bags and then signaled that we needed to pay them, and only smiled when we tipped him, which we felt we had to do rather than wanted to do. As a woman, had I been alone in the car with him, I would not have felt comfortable.

An Excellent place to stay in Makassar

I really like this hotel, very well located in the middle of the city. Facilities are excellent, service is efficient, and meals provided are delicious and varied from Western to Asian. The rooms are large and very well designed, neat and clean. The only comment I would like to make is that I used the gym almost daily, but no one was there to help. But this is minor problem. The staff are very polite, efficient, and really try to help. I am very impressed and will stay again here whenever I come to Makassar.

I arrived late after a 3 hour flight delay. On the plus side, the pick up arrangements worked well. However, the reception person forgot to swipe my credit card and I had to go back down to the desk well after midnight. Also the AC didn’t work well in the first room and I had to change rooms. The floors did not appear clean in either room as the first one had paper scraps and the second plastic wrappers.

The elevators can get busy when the function room is booked.

This is a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. My room was clean and beautiful and the room service was excellent! The service was really fast and the food was delicious. There is a wonderful pool/sauna area that has a beautiful view and was a great place to unwind after a long day of touring around.

Nice property, four star. Some plumbing items (regulating water flow and temperature) and other small things kept it from being five star. Breakfast was okay, not over the top. The bubur was more nasi than bubur, the cheese and cold cut selection was slim, I don't recall that there was a coffee machine for latter/espresso, and generally it was a solid 4 star buffet.

Adequate for a night's stay

Got upgraded to a junior suite as hotel was overbooked, but the room was really dated. Air-conditioning doesn't work well and since the room was rather large, some parts of the room was really warm in the day. Amenities were adequate but the shower was difficult to use - took me a long while to figure out how to get heated water running. Was ok for a 1-night stay but I would think again if it were for an extended period.

Carpet is damage at least 3-4 area.
When asking for one multi plug, take three call (in a duration of 2 hours) before staff deliver to room.

The hotel is relatively average in terms of cleanliness as compared to others like Novotel which I'm used to staying. The food was average with Novotel being slightly better. When I was waiting for the lift in the morning to check out, the hotel suddenly lost it's power and the lift came to a standstill and the entire hotel's lights went off, and people were screaming in the lift. I must admit I was rather afraid to take the lift and ran out as soon as the doors open on the ground floor.

Conveniently located, booked junior suite - decent size able to hold small gatherings in room.
Have access to executive lounge 12th flr.. great local dishes, especially coto makassar (served during breakfast), highly recommended. Lvl 20 sky lounge was a perfect place for get together for a drink/scenary while D'Loounge lvl 19 needs a bit of cleaning due to heavy smoke smell - overall still great atmosphere.

Good Location

The location of the hotel has easy access to most tourist sites as well as the the center of town. The reception staff wer helpful and good with customers. The room large, clean, comfortable large bed, large bathroom. The down side was on weekends when local running clubs visit the park across the road and play extremely poud music that can heard in my room. Noise in the hallway is also clearly heard in my room. Breakfest is limited geared towards our asian brothers and sisters. I ate once for lunch and the meal extremely greasy. The gym is well equipped and has good city views while working out. Limited parking space due to the hotel perched on a grade. I will consider another hotel next time in Makassar.

Overall its a comfortable and nice hotel to stay .

The hotel is clean and comfortable. The housekeeping needs to improve though as they dont clean the bedsheets everyday and the first day I checked in I didnt realise that there were mensus blood stains on the bedsheets and bed which I only realized the next day of my stay. Housekeeping needs to improve seriously.

Very good hotel in the city center

I was upgraded to the Junior Suite, which was VERY GOOD. The hotel itself is near the center of Makassar, right where it should be. Makassar is not yet a major tourist attraction but is a gateway to Sulawesi so many tourist pass through the city. The hotel caters mostly to local (Indonesian) businessman but is a good choice for tourists, particularly if the price is not a concern (the hotel is not expensive). There are several restaurants, one on the top (18 floor ?), you should try it for the views. Breakfast is somewhat basic, but is OK. The main attractions of Makassar - Fort Rotterdam and the harbor are nearby, perhaps in a walking distance. Overall : GOOD CHOICE. I recommend.

This was the second time I have stayed at this hotel and it was fantastic. Staff were very friendly and obliging. Breakfast was fantastic as were all the other facilities. Reasonably priced and close to beach and restaurants. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in. Will be staying there again soon.

Love this hotel, stay here often. They have great facilities, very friendly, good location, and the most comfortable beds i've ever slept in. The only negative is that sometimes the wifi isnt the greatest, and they don't the tv channels I like. For example fox sports, axn, etc. but i keep coming back for all the good things they have!

Fantastic hotel with an extreme poor services

I arrive at the hotel at 5 pm and had to wait for more than 30 minutes to check in and get in my room as the front desk staff said they have not clean the room. This doesn't seems logic to me as usually the check out time is 2 pm by the latest and should able to prepare the room within 30 minutes. But they had me waiting for more than 30 minutes without any welcome drink and an apology! And I already ordered a car to get to the airport when I checked in and since there was 4 of us I asked for the big MPV then when we checked out they give us the small MPV and again I have to shout at them that this is not what I ordered. They said the big MPV was not available and I said to them that I already ordered it when I checked in and all reason they gave did not make any sense at all. Five minutes later the big MPV I requested showed up and they lied to me. It's a really disappointing experience and I will not stay there again.

We stayed there 8 days total. The bed and pillows are so comfortable! I have to say that, the room service pretty slow. My room didn't get clean twice, they left the dirty sheets on the floor when we came back to our room. I complaint to the Manager twice due to my room wasn't clean. Dirty cups and glasses from the night before and when we drank coffee that morning, didn't get change, the sink was dirty, trash didn't get clean out for 2 days. I can say that, I'll return again to this Hotel because of the staff was always smiling, greet us. I like the idea of using room key at the elevator to go to the room ;) I feel safer that way! Also, they have security checking bags out front.

Room clean and comfortable and everything worked. Decided to eat in hotel restaurant as did not know city and almost no English spoken. Disaster! Took one hour for ordered food to arrive and then starters and mains arrived at same time! Inedible steaks and despite promise of good value wine cheapest was nearly 50 pounds per bottle!

I notice that the last review for this hotel is mine from the same time last year. My previous review still stands. We really like and enjoy this hotel, but the daily room cleaning is very frustrating. We have stayed here for over two weeks, and maybe twice we didn't have to bring something to their attention. Missing hand towels, bath matts, towels, condiments, carpet not vacuumed ......

I stayed in Aston overnight for transit, and was surprised by the high standards of the hotel. The room was well-furnished and was clean, with a window overseeing the city and the harbour. The bathroom is modern and bright. The staff in Aston were nice and helpful. I booked airport shuttle, though it was more expensive than taxi but it was worth, as you walked out from the airport everything went smoothly. Check-in, check-out, services in the restaurant were all smooth and staff really made you feel comfortable. The only drawback was that there was a door (locked) to the adjacent room, and the two ladies in the adjacent room kept talking even in midnight and I could hear them talk clearly. If the door was not there and the wall was thicker I would have a better night of sleep.

I stayed one night at the Aston Makassar while on a long layover from Kuala Lumpur to Ambon. I was very impressed by the staff, who were all extremely courteous and efficient. I booked a deluxe room but there were none when I arrived, so they upgraded me to a suite. The suite was beautiful and comfortable, and came with complimentary (fast) wifi. I took a swim in their rooftop infinity pool, which was very nice. All the hotel amenities were good but it was the lovely staff who made it a memorable stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

Too noisy to sleep.

Two nights continuously I have to call the customer service/reception to control the noise that come from other rooms. Seems like the other guests were having party in the room. They were talking with very loud voice, running around at corridor and the sound of room's door being slam. I have to call twice and informed the hotel about the noise. The situation was under controlled at 3.30AM. The bathroom was not clean daily. The rubbish bin in the room was not clear daily.

A welcomed change of hotel for Makassar

The hotel is in a good location, its nice and new and the rooms (standard) are quite spacious and modern. The first time we stayed it was superb. We came back again, but this time around the room was not keep as clean with stains and hair in the shower being overlooked !!. We brought this too their attention. Overall very happy with the hotel and I only hope that they maintain a high standard of cleanliness to keep this hotel in good order.
The views and pool level are an added bonus. breakfast was also good.

Could be a perfect hotel if services is improved

This is my first time stay at Aston Makassar. I'd read some review and decided to give it a try, on my transit from Denpasar to Sorong (about 12 hours). I reserved online with specific request (early check in, airport transfer), however all of my request was not granted and there was no confirmation from the hotel. I tried their spa service for a traditional massage. The massage was good but the therapist can do better with more proper training. Room is great and very comfortable, food is also good, the location is perfect (near Losari Beach and big malls, two malls are in walking distances). the online price and the quality of the room is perfect. I put a complaint over noise and room key, the lady who received my complaint did not apologize and only giggle. With more high quality training in their service and staffs , this hotel is actually a good place to stay in Makassar

Tolle stadtnahe Unterkunft, vieles zu Fuß erreichbar. Check in und personal war sehr freundlich. Schön gestaltetes Zimmer und Hotel. Sehr gutes Frühstück. Nur die Dachterrasse war sehr enttäuschend. 3-4 Tische, keine Deko oder sonstiges nettes Ambiente. Sehr große Karte mit Cocktails etc. Aber es gab nur Bier oder Softdrinks.
