The front staff are very friendly 💯👏👏 however during dinner, there were no varieties and also drinks were not included, at least a glass of juice per person would work.
I Also requested for a packed breakfast, however there was no menu to choose from, and also was packed without cutlery. My daughter accidentally scratched her face at the beach, we requested for a first aid or an Elastoplast, only to be told it was not available. At the poolside, we ordered chicken nuggets and lollipops but they were not well cooked. I called the waiter to send the food back to the kitchen, but we never saw the food again

I was checked into the garden side of the resort upon arrival, which honestly felt like an abandoned section of the property. The bathrooms were outdated and in very poor condition & covered in mold and felt extremely unhygienic. The bedsheets were dirty, with visible stains, bugs, and insect shells. AC was also not working.

I asked to get moved to a different room. Staff attempted to move me to several diff rooms, but they were all in similar condition. I waited over 2hrs before being placed in a somewhat better room (bedding wise). I was told that management would relocate me the following morning once other guests checked out on the other side of the resort. The next day, i was moved to a beach-view room, but unfortunately,the bathroom conditions wasnt any better. It just had a newer sink.

Room service came in while i was sleeping. Which shocked me, bc I’ve never had that happen to me. Like why?

BTW, None of the elevators were working. If you’re traveling with children, elderly, someone with a disability, or heavy luggage, be prepared to use the stairs at all times.

Overall, this was one of the worst experience I’ve had. When I asked about leaving that same night, I was informed there were no refunds. I ended up spending as little time in the room as possible each day. There was nothing luxurious about this resort, it felt empty and lifeless, almost like a ghost town, especially compared to the nearby beachfront hotels. I would not choose to stay here again.

This place could be so much more with some TLC. The location and beach front position are lovely. Great grounds and spacious rooms but everything here needs updating.
Decorating. Rooms. Appliances. A spa that is open when it says it is. The food in the restaurants. Juice that is juice and not some water based cordial. Unfriendly staff.
I wish for a large developer to come in and provide a huge makeover but as it is I could not recommend it to anyone.

The pictures shown in website is completely opposite of reality. Yes it’s water Front but the hotel is literally falling apart with mold everywhere. The hotel denote was dirty and cracked wood. Toilet not working, the bedsheet dirty. I don’t believe this hotel was maintained for the last 50yrs. It was completely nightmare. When you first come in, the staff make you sign a paper. - do not sign! We immediately checked out of there. We cannot bare to sleep in dungeon.

I have never been so disappointed at a hotel, I had to change like three rooms because the toilet flash was not working. They was an awful pipe smell of sewage in the toilet. customer service was appalling. The food was ridiculously expensive and was just trash. The Wi-Fi was a joke.

The advertised superior room was not for 4 people, this was disclosed on check in, despite giving a call to the hotel reception a day before to confirm the booking of 4 people, on arrival the receptionist James was not courteous and asked me to book another room. Upon showing all evidence on my booking using Xpedia app and reservation at the hotel. The room was not clean.

We checked out the next day early morning.

The hotel staff are not professional and couldn’t even sympathize with our situation

It is not Luxury but very run down.Restaurang seems to very popr - so.many complaomt and expe aive so I never tried it but find very good places outside with normal with decent prices and high quality Beach very dirty with platic bottles and debris everywhere. Also sewage system from Mombasa goes straigh out in the sea so swimming there to avoided. However the 33 m swimming pool was nice and clean and the gym ok in partcular the gym master trainers hat gave training couses in the morning. But overall the hotel.is overrated and it seems like no investment is done to improve the pla e.

The breakfast was ok and the staff were friendly and helpful. They could use a variety of food . I stayed for 4 nights and the food was the same the whole time. The compound is not maintained one would wonder if a snake wouldnt crawl in from somewhere. The room had no soap and had to call to ask . Mosquito nets dont close completely .

How Expedia rates this 3 stars is baffling. 78 countries maybe 1,000 hotel rooms this is in the filthiest bathroom and pillows. No toilet paper, water in shower was brackish not fresh. Mold everywhere. Total rip off, complain to the front desk they just look at you, well you where stupid enough to book it. Especially when price is as high as it is. Place is literally falling apart, roof of part of the pool bar collapsed, luckily no one sitting there. Local guide reviews are bogus.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was far from satisfactory. The room and bathroom were very dirty, and all the furnishings were old and neglected. The mosquito net was terribly dusty and had stains from squashed mosquitoes, which was not only unpleasant but also gave the impression that hygiene is not a priority here. Additionally, the check-in process was lengthy because they couldn’t find my reservation confirmation, and I had to send them an email with the confirmation. The towels were also dirty. Furthermore, the photos on Expedia do not reflect the actual condition of the rooms – everything looked much better in the pictures than in reality. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel if you care about cleanliness and good conditions.

Flooded Room.

On returning to the room hoping for a shower at about 11/11.30pm I found the bathroom was flooded with water which seeped halfway into the bedroom. Fortunately, my bags were at the other end of the bedroom and so stayed dry. It was cleaned up in about an hour and a half or so. This meant I did not get to shower till much later, delaying my sleep. We organised a later check out the morning after.

I didn’t expect much from this place before I booked it but I was completely surprised after the first day. The property was right on the beach and the staff was great and friendly.

The only slight problem was the wifi connection. It was slow at times.

I would recommend this place to anyone considering staying on Nyali beach.

A breath taking ad venture.

I booked a three night stay here with my wife and daughter and we enjoyed every moment of our stay. The staff are friendly and the facility is very clean with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. All the balconies are facing the beach front and the views are amazing. I recommend this hotel.

Staff were generally friendly, but reception tried to charge 3500 for my guest when they joined me I had booked for 2 people. Eventually they let it go without patment - I don't know if it was a mistake or they tried to cheat us.

We tried 2x to order food (a la carte), 2 dishes each (4 total), the 2nd time thinking we were maybe just unlucky with the 1st order. Everything had a bad taste, wouldn't ever eat there again. I didn't try the buffet so can't comment on that.

Overall the staff were pleasant, friendly, and went above and beyond. Rooms a little dated but well maintained. I just wish they would get a cook who's trained, and ensure the receptionist isn't trying to add on extra charges.

Pools, view, proximity to the ocean were all perfect.

Dinning room staff were very pushy and not able to help with the basics, the food was not up to scratch. the besting about this place is its location on the beach other than that it need demolish and start a fresh. I will not recommend to anyone.

Elevator was not operating and I was on the 4th floor. Bathroom sink hot water barely a trickle. Purchased a slice of cake in the lounge - the cake was dry and had a weird chemical taste. Housekeeping turned of the main light switch and room had no electricity when I came back and I had to call the front desk to have them send technician to resolve. When I checked I had forgotten my room keys in the room and they wanted to charge me for a key despite inconveniencing me as described above. The only positive I have to add is Lilian who was at the reception. She genuinely wanted my feedback

There was not enough workers. If you need something you have to ask like at least 5-6 times until you get it. We were waiting for an iron for almost 2 hours. Very long waits for orders and every time you ask for help or something, the staff disappears. I would recommend staying somewhere else.

We checked out 3 days early than planned, because of the unpleasant conditions. The standards of this hotel would not be acceptable to most holiday makers. There were a calamity of things that would never allow me to recommend this hotel! Firstly, I will never forget the mildew-damp smell that greeted me on entering the suite we had booked. They provide mosquito nets over beds, which is good, but they were torn or stained, on more than one bed. Pull back the pillow cases and our pillows revealed grey mould patches, so filthy, that we inevitably chose to sleep without them. I had curtains hanging off their hooks and worse still, the patio doors leading to outside were warped and did not lock properly -as a female with a young family this was a huge concern. The bathroom featured rusting taps with peeling chrome surface, that looked like it was diseased. Then, there was the shower that did not drain properly resulting in pools of sitting water. Even though I was moved to another room, the alternative was not any better: The unclean extractor fan had dead mosquitos plastered all over it, like an insect graveyard. Towel rails were rusty. Poorly fitted plug sockets on walls and handles missing off a sliding door. In the restaurant, the staff did not care about flies landing on food they were about to serve guests, or the frequent roaming cat that jumped on tables! The only positive it gets, is down to its scenic view. My biggest regret is the money I wasted on booking this place!

This hotel is not fit for purpose. They advertise a package that they simply do not have. Where do I start. Firstly they hook you in with a wonderful looking hotel accommodation. We basically paid for something we did not receive. Our first day Saturday 28th October until we.left on the Tuesday having booked until 4Nov was a nightmare from hell.
My first Premier Deluxe room was a ground floor room with mould around the handbasin and shower and damp walls. Toilet seat cracked and no space to swing a cat and the water did not drain from handbasin and I would not have put a dead animal in the fridge. The presence of mosquitoes wax overwhelming and given Mombasa was a red zone that clearly was cause for concer with no nets on the patio doors. The condition of the room was disgusting I was moved to another room on the first floor. Whilst the bathroom was in a better condition k again couldn’t touch the fridge. The nets on the bed was disgusting with presence of s myriad of dead creatures. The pillows were all so soiled I can’t imagine why and how they would expected a guest to lay their head. Also had bed bugs.
The breakfast was a farce and it was survival of the fittest the flies or us. It gets worse but I have limited characters. Shame on you Expedia for selling something not fit for purpose and taking our money.

A great place to stay. The old charm of one of Nyali’s oldest hotels, but being updated by the new owners. Food and service was great. The shower and bathroom was fine.
Our room was lovely and spacious. The fridge didn’t work but was replaced immediately.
Location is good being on the beach, but close to all the amenities that Links Road and Nyali can offer.

This property has some serious problems with its utilities specifically water supply and water quality. The senior management are clueless as to how to resolve this and in our case they failed to respond directly to any of our complaints.
Bathrooms and fixtures are of poor quality and in bad condition. The issues we had can be summarised as follows:
1. Water stoppages lasting more than 3 hours on 5 out of our 11 days stay.
2. Poorly treated water supply from borehole.
3. Bathroom window did not shut properly leaving a path for mosquitoes.
4. Lack of consistent hot water
5. Taps not working properly
6. Toilet cistern broke down but got repaired
7. Internet breakdown for more than 12 hours.
8. The staff were polite and apologetic but powerless to resolve any problems - appears to be a management issue.

Beware! Sewer leak in bedroom and terrible customer service!

The food will make you sick, the customer service will make you sicker. We got a room for the holidays and had a nasty sewer leak that almost destroyed our property. My girlfriend was in the shower and human poop and water came out of the shower drain and flooded our whole room. Did they offer us another room? Nope! Did they offer us a refund? Nope! All they did was mop the floor and make us remain in our sewer infested room for the duration of the trip. Any other respectable hotel would've at least offered another room and a refund. On top of that, customer service is very dubious, apathetic, slow, and inconsiderate. Think hard anf think twice before booking a trip here. I never make internet reviews, I'm not that type of person, even if something bothers me, but this place needs to be called out.

Toilet full of limescale, there is excriment on switches in the room and explained stains everywhere

Expedia should be ashamed of themself that they are selling this dive to there customers to stay in. The place is not a 1 star hotel let alone a 3.5*

I want a full refund and will be doing a chargeback if a full refund is not provided. Will also be writing to the ombudsman if my complaint is not dealt with within 15 days.

- Great location right on the beach
- Good amount of security

Cons:
- Need more people so more things are open (a couple restaurants and bars were closed and/or under renovation)
- Food wasn't good. Had the worst pina colada and Indian food of my life. Pasta was good though.
- Bathroom in hotel room has screens to outdoor hallway so anybody outside the room could hear everything going on inside the bathroom, and I could hear every person that passed by the room. See photos.

SO worth it!

I was a little anxious about this hotel based on many of the reviews but was so glad I still chose to stay there. The entire service staff, from reception, to wait staff, to room cleaners were exceptional. The lobby immediately gave me a good impression and I loved my room. I’m told they are under new management and clearly it’s working really well. I picked a room facing seaside so maybe that was the difference but it was renovated, comfortable, and clean.
The pools and grounds are beautiful and while I didn’t use the fitness center, I walked through it. It has way more equipment than most hotel fitness centers and once again, the people were friendly and welcoming.
The beach can get crowded but it’s still good for walking and sitting/people watching. I didn’t swim in the sea but there were a lot of people in the water.
I will add that I am a 63 year old solo traveler and have been to a whole lot of places. This place impressed me. Give it a shot. It’s worth it.

The there are several restaurants some had several hours left to be open and were not engaged for service and recommended eating in the main area and many items not available.

Took over 1 hour to get a plate of pasta and was not great. Staff advised they were short on help.

Again the description of the place and services did not match. Except the AC worked

I was in the region over 20 years ago and perhaps the place was grand and need up dating.

We were looking to host an event for several 100 persons.

The hotel is serene, with an amazing view, it has a lot of beautiful vegetation surrounding it. A walk by the beach is recommended. However, the facilities are a bit outdated, the toilet had issues flushing, the room key had a problem and it was a struggle opening my door and some amenities were quite old. It’s tired! A shadow of its former glory. This is a true example of why Mombasa won’t be considered as an international destination anymore. At best a 2 star performance. The bones of the buildings are good and strong. Interiors need updating by with a designer and a good budget. F&B poor. Linen shocking. Service, haphazard and directionless. Noise. Pool bar tunes pumping out too loud. Gym music cranking at 6 am? Needs good international management as this hotel still has great potential.

Nicely situated on beach and quiet. Water in bathroom never got really hot and top of toilet leaked after flushing. They maintenance crew was called three times and attempted to fix it but it never was resolved.

The hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood but, it is not well maintained. The air ducts are not serviced resulting in air conditioning blowing stale air along with dust mites.

The rooms are mosquito infested because of stagnant water and ongoing construction.

I hope the new management turns this property around.

Not recommended, expensive compared to what u get

This hotel has old charm but needs urgent renovation. Things are falling apart. The place is not clean. A lot of mosquitos inside the room. Compared to better quality and cleaner same-price Diani beach hotels, I do not recommend to go to Nyali.
