This luxurious hotel occupies a former 18th-century aristocratic residence of Domenico Ridola, founder of the National Archaeological Museum, in the stunning ancient town of Matera. The museum, along with the Sassi—cave houses, monasteries, and churches thought to be one of Italy's first settlements—is a short ten-minute drive away.

The hotel's classic rooms and suites offer air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and satellite television. After a day of sightseeing, guests can dine in the hotel restaurant, which serves traditional local cuisine and an exceptional selection of local wines.

A 24-hour reception and ample parking add to the convenience, while two fully equipped meeting rooms (accommodating 30 to 250 guests) cater to business travelers. Children aged one to seven receive a 50% discount.

Beautiful Property, Not a True Luxury Experience

At $1,500+ per night, the expectation is a seamless luxury experience. Casa de Campo is visually beautiful, but service and value did not match the price.

Check-in required a 25+ minute wait for a “concierge check-in”, while 2 front desk agents remained unoccupied, yet there was no meaningful property overview or proactive assistance. The room was standard at best and consistently humid. We had booked expecting a hot tub, but only select rooms in another section section of the resort have them. Even after a partial adjustment through Expedia, the value was not there.

The main pool shows visible wear, and overall upkeep does not reflect a luxury rate.

Concierge service lacked initiative. When restaurants were full, we had to prompt alternatives. There was also confusion about what our stay included, despite the high rate, it covered no meals or experiences, only the room and a golf cart.

Dining was good overall. Breakfast at Lago stood out thanks to Jael, who delivered the only truly five-star service we experienced.

The property and golf course are beautiful, but service precision, clarity, and overall value fall short of true luxury standards.

Beach and set up is amazing - sunset and coral blue water. Only thing I would improve is the main pool not being heated at the main lobby area.

Everything about casa de campo was amazing . Staff was the best and paid attention to every detail. The golf courses are some of the most beautiful I’ve ever played and been on. Food was top tier. If you go SBG is an absolute must to eat dinner and watch the sunset. I highly recommend buying the all inclusive package because if you don’t , you will most definitely spend a lot more than you would plan on. Bring plenty of cash to tip.

This place was so boring we had to leave and go somewhere else diring the day to find something fun. It was like being at a country club in the US. I could barely tell i was on an island. Definitely just a golf resort and that wasnt what i was looking for. No fun. Food wasnt the greatest. No good music. No diversity.

Our Premier room was excellent but the other two rooms we had for our adult children were very disappointing and spartan - not what we expected for such a high rate. The other disappointments were the lack of walking and running paths. It was very hard to go for long runs or walks that did not require going on the road. Finally the oppressive tip culture, which I do not blame on the employees, was tiring. This is the worst when going down to sit on a beach chair and really bad at Catalina Island where vendors are on you to buy jewelry, rent snorkeling gear, etc. The food was better than expected and the weather, pools and beaches very nice. The problem we had, was that we payed Four Seasons\St Regis Rates (where we usually stay, and the experience was Disney\Atlantis.

The staff was pleasant and courteus. The rooms were dated and the sliding doors were not functional. The resort was well manicured especially compared to areas nearby. The beach was man made and not great. The pool was attractive, food and drinks were nice but closer to NY prices, and the golf carts were ok but necessary. Resort could have been anywhere in the world - kind of a basic Marriott look.

Best way to describe is Marriott vibes with a bureaucratic undertone. The farthest thing you could get from five star. If I was taking over the resort I would fire everyone and start from scratch.

what a pleasant surprise! Beautiful property (over 7,000 acres), loved the golf cart for getting around, amazing restaurants, some of the BEST cocktails (thank you Yulissa!), such personalized concierge service from Verny. He gave me his cell phone number and told me to call or text anytime even if he was off! Sergio drove us around and made us feel right at home. I wish we'd know of him sooner.... we will definitely reach out to him in the future WHEN we return. I'll be honest, I didn't have the best impression of the DR from a previous stay in Punta Cana. But this is other level. Highly recommend! Oh yeah, our room was big and so comfortable. Very clean and felt new. Loved this trip so much!

we were absolutely amazed with our entire stay. The villa was spacious and beautiful. Our daily housekeeper, Evelyn, was very attentive and served a wonderful breakfast every day.
The grounds are well kept and there are many activities to do without leaving. The private beach, which we went to daily, was also great. There is literally no reason to leave the grounds. There is also plenty of shopping options, including a grocery store.
Golf carts are available and make it easy to get around without a car.

The CDC boasts the most incredible golf course, and we absolutely adore it every time we visit. The exceptional staff at Lagos is truly remarkable, and Antonio “el papa” stands out as a particular favorite. My host at the premiere club was Angelia, accompanied by Glennis and Jesus. They formed an outstanding team, and we always feel like we’re at home. The warm welcomes we receive from Ricardo, Benjamin, Lenni, Roberto, Emanuel, and Junior make all the difference at Lagos. Our experience at Casa de Campo was spectacular from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived, the service was first-class: attentive, friendly, and always taking care of every detail. The restaurants offered excellent variety and quality, the beach and pool were amazing, perfect for relaxing with the family.

One of the most memorable moments was the tour to Catalina Island, an unforgettable experience with beautiful scenery and impeccable service.

The infinity pool and adult area were under construction renovations. Alot of noise because of this by the only beach located in Minitas. We lost power and water for several hours. The cleaning staff could not provide any floor towels for the bathroom because they were short on them. No VIP Expedia room upgrade was given nor did the Expedia concierge explain anything upon arrival, service was not good from the beginning.
