What a lovely hotel with a ton of character! Located at the end of the 'beach strip', it was nice and quiet, with an amazing view of the town, the beach and the coastline.
Our room was comfortable, and our view from the balcony was 10 out of 10.
There was a mini-fridge in the room stocked with water, but for some reason, guests are not allowed to store their own food or drinks inside (penalty is 5 euros/day) - we found this strange?
The staff were super friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was really good - and the eating area had floor to ceiling windows with views of the beach. The pool was nice, warm and clean. Great location, just a 10-minute walk to shopping and restaurants. On Monday morning, there is an open market in the city center that was a lot of fun to visit! Staying at Scalea was definitely one of the highlights of our Italy trip - it was beautiful, quiet, and resort-like. We really enjoyed staying at the Grand Hotel De Rose and hope to stay there again.

Great location

The location and beach access was fantastic. Room was clean but this hotel is in need of an update. Furniture and linens look well used. They also have an ant problem. Even though we didn’t have food in the room, we found quite a few ants.

We had an amazing stay! Checked in a little late in the afternoon and pool was closing, but they made an exception and allowed up to enjoy the pool. Drinks on the pool deck were amazing! The beach club was fabulous and food was great! We were treated like royalty! Truly impressed and will definitely visit again! Scalea has beautiful beaches and now one of our favorite spots!

The private beach access is great the breakfast was great. Room was clean and bed really comfy.

The downside was the Air conditioning didnt work, only the fan. We told the front desk staff twice the first night with no resolution (just checked something in the back office) the following morning we told them again. They sent someone who turned the thermostat down 2 degress but it was still not blowing cold air. We left the window closed and the fan running while gone for lunch the cleaners shut it off and opened the window to 28 degree weather which defeats the purpose of Ac.
Told the check out clerk on departure to complete disinterest.

Very beautiful property next to the sea. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty as we we’re staying in Scalea only one night on our way to Calabria- a gem for sure. The hotel manager and staff were very kind and helpful. Beautiful beach and access to it is easy. We want to visit again for a longer time. Breakfast was great as well. They had a very nice Buffay with a lot of different options to choose from.

Air conditioning has a strong smell of sulphur, so can't use during the night. Small ants all over so don't leave food lying around. Beds are really soft so you might wake up with a bad back. Parking space is quite limited but we were able to manage without damaging anything. There is a minifridge in the room but you are not allowed to use it to store your own food or drinks in it. Bathroom is really tight but this was not an issue. But, of all this, the worst is that much of the staff (not all mind you) is uncaring. Uncaring about the state of the hotel, uncaring about the clients. The beach was nice with long chairs and ombrello inclusive. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is continental and very complete. Pool was very clean.

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel. The check in staff called over the older housekeeping staff to carry our bags! Ridiculous! The lifeguard at the Lido was more concerned with his girlfriend than anything else. The Lido itself offered nothing for kids - there were much better offerings a couple of doors down.The service at breakfast was terrible - no greeting or offer of coffee. Our shower drain blocked up and although we notified reception, they didn't notify anyone, which made for 2 days of incredibly short (max 2 minute) showers! The highlight of this hotel is the housekeeping staff, fabulous people!! This hotel is 3 star at best.

Nice gem in Calabria

The location is great, the hotel mostly looks like B&B, breakfast is Italian standards, just lunch served. There is not TV in the large lounge area and don't have music too. Parking is great. Balcony is also nice.

Nice hotel with private beach

We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. Breakfast was awesome with a wide range of food. Room was very comfortable with ample toiletries . Huge bedroom, sea facing available. Pool was clean, although opened for restricted hours. Private beach available includes a beach umbrella and two comfortable beach chairs. Hotel is within 200m from beach.
Recommend to everybody and want to came again.

We enjoyed our stay in the Grand Rose Hotel - the air conditioning was not working when we arrived but was fixed the next day. WiFi was poor in the hotel but surprisingly good in the beach club. The hotel was centrally located and we were able to leave our car and walk everywhere. The rooms are clean and the breakfast was good.

Beautiful 1970 gem perfectly maintained with a dedicated staff. Special mention to Georgina.
An understated level of sophistication that include a beautiful pool in a landscaped garden overlooking the bay and a stylish lido where superb light lunches are served by friendly staff.
The architecture, the interior decoration and high quality furnitures and lighting of this hotel is worthy of a piece in a design magazine such as World of Interior or Wallpaper.

Nice Hotel, but a little bit worn out....

We stayed here because our friends were getting married in a nearby town. We chose the hotel because of the great location, and it is supposedly one of the best in the area.

Overall, we liked the hotel, but it needs some updating. The rooms were dark, although they had great views of hte ocean. The buffet breakfast was ok, but not great. Overall, it was pretty average.

Brilliant Hotel!

I have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Grand Hotel De Rose.

In brief, the hotel ticked all the boxes for me. Good food, great location, own beach with free umbrellas/sunbeds and was situated at the bottom of the cliff, directly underneath the hotel.

I was given a double room with sea view and balcony which was gorgeous to wake up to in the mornings. The staff at the hotel were pleasant and professional, though little English was spoken. I found my basic Italian useful whilst in Calabria and the locals seemed to appreciate my attempts.

I would not hesitate to return to this hotel in the future.

Hotel dalle grandi potenzialità, con parcheggio, spiaggia privata a due passi nel tratto più bello di Scalea, accanto agli scogli, un mare incantevole. Il personale del lido, della ristorazione, della reception e delle pulizie è stato molto accogliente, premuroso e professionale.
Unico neo le camere che presentano forti limiti nell’’arredamento affinché la vivibilità degli spazi sia agevole e quindi piacevole. Ottime tariffe.

Hotellet ligger utrolig fint til. Litt vanskeligheter med at Google sier du skal kjøre kjempe omvei for å komme dit. Men hotellet er greit. Rommeene er gamle, trenger en real makower. Aircon funket ikke om du ikke henger nøkkel til rommet der som betyr at det blir glovarmt når du ikke er der. Ellers er betjening fantastisk. God beliggenhet, flott strand området, men servicen er der beste jeg har opplevd på lenge

Wir waren zu viert und 7 Tage vor Ort. Die Zimmer waren sauber und es gab jeden Tag frische Handtücher und das Bett war sauber bezogen. Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend, sehr freundlich und bei Fragen hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war mehr als ausreichend und es gab einfach alles, von Salat bis zu den leckeren Croissants.
Von hier aus kann man gut Ausflüge unternehmen. Parkplätze am Hotel waren im Preis inbegriffen aber da das Hotel ausgebucht war mußte man jede Lücke nehmen. Wir hatten aber immer Glück. Essen konnte man landestypisch an der Strandbar was sehr lecker und Abends sehr praktisch war da man nicht irgendwo was suchen musste. Wir hatten auch Auswärts bei Ausflügen gegessen aber das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis, die Qualität und Auswahl war stimmig, und erst der Sonnenuntergang. Wenn wir wieder nach \"Calabria\" in dieser Gegend fahren ist das Hotel unsere erste Wahl.

Opholdet levede desværre ikke op til vores forventninger. Havde forventet højere værelsesstandard ift. prisen. Værelset var slidt ift. de billeder der var vist på booking.coms side. Badeværelset lugtede desværre meget af kloak og lyset i entren flimmerede/blinkede. Det vi oplevede burde være opdaget af rengøringspersonalet og ordnet inden værelset blev meldt klar. Værelset var desværre i øvrigt ikke klar ved vores ankomst kl. 16. Super skøn strand ved hotellet med gratis solsengen og parasol.

Vermutlich bestes und größtes Hotel in Scalea

Die Lage des Hotels zu Scalea und dem Strand ist super. Über das Hotelgelände kommt man zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten an den Strand. Schirm und liegen sind im Preis inbegriffen.
Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Das Zimmer war geräumig mit genügend Stauraum für Kleidung. Das Bad klein, aber ausreichend mit etwas größerer Dusche.
Das Frühstück war leider unterdurchschnittlich und nicht sehr abwechslungsreich. Der Frühstücksraum ist Richtung Meer mit viel Glasfront. Die kann jedoch nicht geöffnet werden, das die beweglichen Fensterelemente nachträglich abgedichtet wurden.
Das kpl. Hotelgebäude ist schon in die Jahre gekommen, dennoch war alles sauber.

L’ho scelto per la vicinanza al mare, infatti ha una discesa privata e compresa nel prezzo. Spiaggia molto bella, organizzata e pulita, era presente ogni tipo di comfort, partendo dal bar con uno staff gentilissimo e finendo alle docce calde gratuite, molto comode. L’albergo è grande, molto pulito e dispone anche di una bella piscina con vista mare. L’arredamento forse è un po’ da rivedere essendo un po’ datato però nel complesso è stato tutto molto bello. Tutto bene ma bisogna migliorare nel parcheggio in quanto piu volte non sono riuscito a sistemare la propria all'interno della struttura e per quanto rigurda la stanza il frigo bisogna cambiarlo in quanto obsleto non raffredava e quindi non ho usufruito le bevande all'interno in quanto anziché di essere fredde erano calde per il resto colazione eccelente e anche le pulizie ottime.

Struttura posta alla porte di scalea, con stanze che affacciano sul mare, anche se non abbiamo dovuto prendere quella che affacciano sulla montagna, la stanza era nel complesso accettabile con frigo bar e aria condizionata e cassaforte, l’ arredo era un po’ antico ma tenuto bene, il bagno ristrutturato risultava almeno quello della nostra stanza un po’ stretto soprattutto lo spazio tra il water ed il bidet nella doccia mancava una mensilità per appoggiare il bagnoschiuma. Il lido dell’hotel non era niente di che è lo stesso per il ristorante sulla spiaggia,c’è una piscina con bar annesso sotto l’albergo molto carina. Colazione buona, molto completa nelle scelte, e con affacciata sul litorale. Insomma nel complesso è da provare soprattutto la parte delle camere che affacciano sul mare che sembrano più curate,il personale e molto gentile e simpatico. Con qualche accorgimento sicuramente gli avrei dato un giudizio più positivo.

The hotel is located next to the beach. Guests have access to a private beach which is nice. The hotel is quite outdated but it is clean. Service was not the best. Missing information at check in, no one in the pool to order drinks, lack of enthusiam. Breakfast was not that good. You need to preorder what you want for breakfast the day before. It was a little bit messy. The bread was dry, eggs not cooked enough. It was a passable stay for one night.

Avevamo la camera vista mare bellissimae con il bagno nuovo. La sala colazione è vista mare. L'hotel è un po' datato ma in generale si vede che è di categoria superiore. Un buon 4 stelle. Il personale è molto gentile e la pulizia è stata ottima durante il periodo covid. Perfino Il lettino in spiaggia veniva igienizzato. Gli spazi tra gli ombrelloni sono larghi

Hotel un peu vieillissant surtout les abords de piscine et jardin tres mal entretenus.
Le personnel etait débordé avec les nouvelles mesures sanitaires et l organisation du petit dejeuner tres hésitante et désorganisée. Les chambres sont tres propres mais une nouvelle deco serait bienvenue
