I'd rather give it 5 stars for conditions if it wasn't the room with the outlet vent going right next to the window of \"Junio\". The location is perfect, the view from the roof-top jacuzzi is amazing, the staff is friendly and the breakfast is tasty. The rooms that oversee the sea are great.

All the smelly from the kitchen goes directly into it when the window is open (it's because the chimney/vent pipe goes right next to the window).

Nicely positioned outside Malaga’s busy metropolis

The hotel is located in the Fishing village area of Malaga, which is absolutely beautiful to walk and enjoy the views. There are plenty of great restaurants to have some tapas and drinks. The hotel is a 20 min bus ride away from Central Malaga metro station. The breakfast at the hotel is served from 8.30 to 12, and has various good options. It was a very good stay, but we didn’t get the room with the sea view which was a bit disappointing. That would have made it excellent.

This was a one night stay, and was booked due to its convenient location to the airport, where an early morning flight was required the next day. It suited our needs for that reason. Clean and tidy, we arrived at 3pm and had checked out by 7.30am the next day. The check-in was easy, the staff were friendly, room was tidy, albeit basic, with no mini bar, to store water. A functional, but clean and updated bathroom. The beach location was great for the excellent seafood restaurants on the front. Based in more of a residential part of the outskirts of Malaga, locals were using the bars and eateries, which was lovely to see. Parking however wasn't easy, and we had a 7-8 minute from where we found residential parking but this couldn't be helped and was fine for us.

Small but perfect for our needs.

Booked the hotel after visiting for dinner a few months before. Small hotel right on the beach in a lovely village. Beds were comfortable and rooms air conditioned with fantastic sea views, a mini fridge would be useful. Staff went over and above to make our stay enjoyable especially reception and most of the waiters. Must dine in the restaurant and enjoy cocktails on the Balinese beds. We visit Malaga a few times a year and this is our new go to place.

The location is so perfect, right on a lovely beach, and the ability to rent 4 poster sunbeds was a special touch. You get waiter service! The rooms are quirky but beautiful with large comfy beds and sea views. There is a hot tub and a few sunbeds on the roof which we used, and noone elsie was there. There is also an honesty bar, which we disnt use. Only tiny downside was when we went downstairs to order breakfast, the waitress was very standoffish and i felt uncomfortable. That wouldnt stop me going back and i would highly recommend this hotel.

Close to the beach, has a restaurant underneath, walkable distance to other restaurants. My room had a view to the beach but small shower. My son’s was facing the back street, a bit noisy. We were able to catch a bus to downtown and the market. Nice tub and self serve bar on roof.

Please do not go to this property. I will be devastated if its suddenly overbooked as I definitely plan on returning. Like every year. And renting the whole place out with all my friends. Just so we can hang out with the friendly staff, try all their awesome tea, eat too many bunealos, and sample their eclectic digestives. I might even remember to rent a scooter and go to Malaga- the actual reason for staying there!

Such a nice quaint hotel great location on the beach (can rent chairs/umbrella 8€ per day) if don't want the busyness of the city and wonderful area to walk at night and stop for a drink on patios. Room very clean, hot tub on terrace and honesty bar amazing! The restaurant on property had excellent food and service! Isabelle at front desk so helpful. Easy to take city bus #3 to city centre and wonderful areas to see. Looking forward to another stay!

It was a perfect spot for an easy short break. 15 minutes from airport. Hotel clean and in super location. Hotel food is very good and popular with locals. Classical muscians play on the breakfast terrace each morning. Room: bed comfy, bathroom small but serviceable, limited storage and mirrors.
Go to sleep to the sound of the waves and head out in the morning for fresh fish lunches-wonderful.

Wonderful Sea Views, Hotel is on the beach

Great location great breakfast large room with good shower - we were off the roof deck so our room only had a skylight but there were lovely views of the sea from the roof deck. Nobody used the jacuzzi on the deck as it was too cold. We would have preferred twin beds but we're given a king size bed and it was comfortable. Our room was very quiet, this is December. It was so pleasant having breakfast in the hotel restaurant with fab sea view and a musician playing violin or guitar in the background. We stayed three nights and really felt sorry to leave such a lovely area. Transit to the old town is easy and the traffic free zone around the hotel makes walking enjoyable. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Loved it.

Hotel is just steps away from the beautiful beach.

I stayed with my brother in this hotel for two nights. The overall stay was good, if you want the hotel close to the beach it is for you. It is also close to shopping centre, and city centre.
I don't have a good news for ladies, the hair dryer is absolutely useless, it's so old and takes almost 1 hour to dry your hair. So take your own hair dryer if you planning to stay there. However I have a good new that the night time waiter called Nacho is very handsome ;)

The best thing about this hotel is the fantastic location outside the Malaga city center on the beach, and within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. We had a rental car with GPS and still had a difficult time finding the location of this hotel, which must be accessed via a pedestrian walkway. It took 3 calls to break through the language barrier to find the hotel and and then paid parking within walking distance.

Otherwise, we had a small bedroom and cramped bathroom with old fixtures; but the hotel has a nice roof deck, and what looked like a popular downstairs bar. Overall, it was a decent value for the location - now that I know how to get there.

Arrived late evening. Staff welcoming and very friendly. Room had sea view. Restaurant excellent quality, but not expensive. Eating whilst seated on the terrace gave a lovely sea view, and the terrace has glass panels which may be shut by the staff to keep out any chill wind without obscuring the view. Whilst not every room has a sea view, I don't believe this would be a problem as the hotel is opposite the sea-front, with a narrow promenade separating the hotel from the beach. Recommend you also take a walk along the beach or promenade. The one thing which may deter some people is that the hotel is not near the centre of Malaga, however the transport links are excellent, with buses every 10 minutes, and a taxi from the bus station costing approx 10 Euros. Oou only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We will definietely be back.

Pleasant stay with exquisite culinary experience

We stayed only one night in that hotel before our flight back to Canada. The hotel is conveniently located by the beach promenade and has outstanding restaurant. Fabulous location (30 min by taxi from the airport). The place is very clean… but the room we has was extremely small. We travel light but even with our small luggage we had no place to walk around after we opened our suitcase. The washroom door did not close unless you forced it pass the toilet. Bed was big and comfortable. It was one night, so we put up with some inconveniences. We thought that we booked the room with the view on the sea, but we were told that was not the case. You need to double check the site you are ordering from. It was a pleasant stay for short time with exquisite culinary experience.

We had one of their apartments at the beach..great location however..kids EVERYWHERE and no consideration of others..extremely loud,next to bars,etc..sounded like people (and kids) on our Terence. We couldn't sit out side and enjoy the view.
Our in room safe did not work, the key to the door very difficult to open..had to play with it each time, not a safe feeling at night. Oalso, the key didn't work from outside of building to access front desk,etc.
Staff very nice no doubt,but very disappointed.we stayed the one night but had to move. People (and kids) out front of our place til after 2am.. We found out rentals and a residential area.
It's fine for someone that doesn't care about any of that stuff.
We are working on getting a refund for the other 3nights.

The positive aspects of this hotel is that it is located right in front of a beach. However, it all stops there. There is never anyone to help you at this hotel. The staff are all concerned with running the restaurant attached to the hotel (a common theme in many reviews). They only have a single receptionist who works in the morning and the reception is closed at night (not ideal if there is an emergency). On our last day, we had requested for a taxi to the airport for 5 am. The taxi didn't show up and as there is no receptionist we had no help. We had to scramble to find a taxi and almost missed our flight. We also had several requests for the room that went uncompleted (windows that wouldn't close properly). Outside of the little beach strip in front of this hotel, there is nothing around to see as this is located in the Eastern part of town. So it's pretty far from the city center and any other landmarks. Given the high price of this hotel and terrible customer service, we will not return here.

Hotel La Chancla, Malaga, Spain

We have just had the best holiday ever staying at this wonderful hotel, right on the beach front, in an area about 5.5 KM from the port. We were fortunate to have a rooftop room with access to a Jacuzzi. The views were wonderful of the port and the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains. The staff were brilliant and worked very hard. They were all constantly back and forth, fulfilling the requirements of guests as well as all the customers who frequented the hotel for food and drinks. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. Some spoke very good English. Others did their best, as did we, to communicate effectively. The use of the sun loungers and beds on the beach are an extra cost, which we didn't know about at first (because the sign displaying the charges wasn't on view at the time), so were surprised to be charged a full days fee for only two hours use. But the confusion on our part was soon cleared up and the charge reduced, which was fair enough. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, as were the drinks. Each order of drinks came with a bowl of something to nibble on, which is a lovely tradition in Andalucía. The whole area had a wonderful buzz about it and was very family oriented. We noticed that La Chancla hotel seemed to be the most popular among all the sea front establishments. A great big well deserved thank you to all who work there. We look forward to staying at la Chancla in the future.

We loved our stay in this chic, modern hotel. Located directly on the promenade with access to countless restaurants, the hotel was all we expected. Rooms were stylish and comfortable and the rooftop terrace a welcome bonus. The restaurant was very popular, so popular in fact that even on a relatively quiet evening we left after a 20+ minute wait for our order to be taken. We are therefore unable to comment on its merits, but the food certainly looked attractive.

I chose this hotel for a short break with friends as we wanted beach, sea and sun in the day and access to the vibrancy and charm of Malaga during the evening and we not disappointed! This place is wonderful, a true gem. The staff are friendly and attentive and tried so hard to make our stay perfect..and it worked! The beach beds are glamorous and luxurious and the prices overall excellent value. Without exception, we are all planning to return! Thankyou La Chancla !

So pleased we chose this hotel location lovely few restaurant & bars along the promenade very lively with locals on a Sunday. Very clean well run small hotel. Reception lady was very helpful. Nicely decorated with modern touches. Nice toiletries and modern bathroom. Hot tub on roof was very enjoyable with lovely views to malaga city. Could do with hot tub being slightly warmer in winter months & maybe a kettle in room. But that aside would highly recommend &would stay again.

Great location on the ocean and the food in the restaurant was superb. However the guests stay till late and you can hear the noise till quite late in the night. If you are sensitive to that noise then it will be a problem. Also car parking is a great challenge on the main road so be prepared to park and walk - with big bags it can be challenging. The folks there were extremely friendly and helpful in every way and if we had stayed a little longer it would have been fantastic to enjoy the ocean

Great service!

A lot of things went wrong on our stay. We asked for a seaview room and they gave us a junior suite. While it was swanky looking the only way you could get a view was if you were 4 feet tall and standing on the bed. But we liked having a skylight. Regardless, it would have been okay if the outdoor porch was usable but because of the rain it wasn't. But later that night the window leaked and our bed got wet.
Why am I still giving them 4 stars? Simply because of their outstanding service. I was a little taken aback when they didn't have 24 hour conceirge but being a small hotel and being where it is, I understand theirs is the norm. So next morning when I complained, the manager changed our room promptly and didn't charge us for the night. The level of compassion was commendable and really appreciated.
That night (again after the manager left), we had another issue. There was no hot water, I couldn't shower nor give my baby his bath. So again I complained next morning, feeling bad about complaining. But again they surprised us with their service and while they couldn't do anything they reduced our charge. So in short, was this a great stay? I'd say yes because the people made it so. Thanks for trying to correct the issues and making it up to your customers. We appreciate it.

Wonderful quirky decor and close to beach.

Arrived late and stayed two nights but bar is open til around 2am which meant we could eat and relax after long travel! Breakfast was the best with several complimentary fruit juice (freshly squeezed) and in evening the staff would give bowl after bowl of popcorn :) the strip the hotel was on gave a huge variety of food and drink, perfect for people watching :D everything immaculately clean in hotel and room. We love Malaga for many reasons. It is easily accessible and has all the attractions for any vacation without all the crowds. La Chancla is a perfect little beachfront hotel. You can enjoy the beach community and then easily hop on a city bus to take you downtown in minutes. The arrangement is perfect if you don't want to bother with a car.

Lovely small hotel right on the beach on the north edge of Malaga. Perfect location for an unspoiled beach holiday. Lovely staff.

A few minutes from the centre of Malaga

La Chancla proved to be a delightful place to rest after flying from England and travelling on to Almeria. The quaint old fishing quarter was charming. Wooden boats were being constructed on the beach. People jogging and walking their dogs. Grandparents playing with children by the sea. A quirky room in the attic leading onto a terrace with hot tub and sauna. Come and stay if you are in a Malaga you will enjoy.

NOT as described

Not only was this hotel room NOT as described, the manager raised his voice and argued aggressively when I tried to resolve the problem. He demanded that Hotels.com must have taken it upon themselves to change his description without his knowledge. The room description said 'Sea views and balcony'. It also said that on the print out of the room booking. The room had NO balcony and overlooked an alley way NOT the sea. When we left at midday the next day, I mentioned that I was going to write a poor review. It was only at this point did the manager want to discuss the issue. But it was too late. When we raised the issue he could have apologized about the sea view room not being available and offered us a complimentary breakfast or a free drink or entree in the cafe and we would have been happy with the compensation. However, nothing resolves being treated like a fool and spoken to so disrespectfully. We stayed for an extra 5 nights down the road. We would have stayed at this hotel if we were treated better. So he also lost our business.

Smart, sunny seaside hotel.

We loved Hotel La Chancla - smart yet laid-back at the same time; clean comfortable room looking directly over the sea; excellent seaside situation yet only a few minutes easy drive into Malaga; smart, popular bar which serves good, quick food; extremely friendly helpful staff - thoroughly recommended & hopefully we will be back.

Lovely Place

Stayed 4 nights and very lovely location, helpful friendly staff.
The Hotel was very clean and the view is fantastic. Good food too and would really recommend the Hotel.
Liked the place very much and will go back again.
The hotel is a 3Star with traditional rooms(2 rooms on Top floor, are Modern) but very cosy and clean.

Hotel La Chancla,Malaga

Small,friendly hotel right on the beach but only 10 minutes bus ride from the centre of Malaga. Buzzy area mainly frequented by locals with brilliant selection of fish restaurants all along the seafront. The hotel only has 9 rooms and the two at the top have sole use of the rooftop jacuzzi after 10pm. A great way to unwind after a dinner. The area is much less touristy than the more popular side of Malaga around Torremolinos and the prices of the hotel and restaurants are very reasonable. A great place to go back to regularly for a few days on the beach combined with sightseeing. We recommend bus trips to Nerja and particularly Figiliana,a beautiful \"pueblo Blanco\"

Et lite , men helt utrolig sjarmerende hotel (6-7 rom). Her får du mye for pengene. Fantastisk beliggenhet , meget god service , rene og fine rom med god størrelse, men ikke minst med nydelig utsikt ut til middelhavet. Den utsikten får du også om du prøver deg i boblebadet på takterrassen noe jeg naturligvis tok meg tid til. Godt varmt vann og med mulighet for å ligge å sole seg i solsenger. Meget god frokost med strandpromenaden rett på utsiden. Her kan du innta god mat , god kaffe , juice m.m og se på folk som tusler forbi. Hotellet har også ved hver frokost leid inn en person som spiller et instrument , synger eller gjør begge deler , som gjør at man skaper en litt ekstra god atmosfære rundt frokosten.Fra lunsj tid og ut kvelden fungerer det samme lokalet som en restaurant som serverer noen helt nydelige spanske retter.De er kjent for sin mat kunnskaper og stedet var ofte fullt av både lokale og tilreisende. Vil du ta deg en tur inn til Malaga for litt mer pulserende byliv (absolutt å anbefale) så tar det ca 15 min inn med taxi (10-12 euro) og 25-30 min med buss (3-4euro). Stoppestedene er rett i nærheten (2-3 min å gå). For den fotball elskende (som jeg selv er) er det 2 populære sportsbarer 3-4 min unna. En innertier av et hotell etter hva jeg var ute etter i min jobbreise.Kan varmt anbefales.

Vi blev opgraderet til et af de 2 værelser på 2. Sal. De øvrige 12 værelser på første sal er uden balkon/terrasse, da der er sol-paneler uden for vinduerne. Personalet var venligt og imødekommende. Man spiser til rimelige priser ift spanske restauranter. Jeg kommer gerne igen hvis et af de 2 øverste værelser er ledige.
