The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. This hotel is best if you want close proximity to the Vatican which we did. The rooms were clean and perfectly suitable. Staff would call us a taxi too the hotel which usually arrived with 4 minutes. The street is smallish so if you're taking a larger taxi to or from the hotel you may need to walk a little to the hotel.

The whole staff was excellent. The breakfast was great! It was easy to walk to the Vatican and many great restaurants. The river is steps away and a good walking and biking trail. It was an easy walk to the train station. Andet and Avy were very helpful with logistics and helping us track my son’s lost suitcase. They and Junior really made us feel at home. Our room was lovely. They gave us good advice and helped us save money, as well. We highly recommend this hotel.

We had a lovely time in Rome! It was our first time and the location of this hotel was really great. I was a little disappointed as I thought that all hotel guests had access to the terrace, which would have been nice to use, however the terrace is only for guests with a superior room. Most of the staff was friendly and helpful.

This hotel is a little slice of bliss. With its convenient proximity to the Vatican, Trastevere and solid walk to the glorious Roman sites you won't be disappointed in this hidden gem. 10 out of 10 we'd recommend and repeat our stay at Hotel La Rovere. Our room was comfortable and surprisingly spacious compared to most European hotels. It was equipped with all the amenities we needed and most importantly felt clean. The elevator is also a solid bonus! The staff are an absolute delight. Sadly, we didn't get everyone's names, but a few standouts are: Andet, Gilbert and our reception extraordinaire, the always accommodating and friendly Avy.

I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a city break in Rome. The staff at this hotel could not have been more helpful. They made contact with me within 15 minutes of making my booking, after which I requested twin beds in one of the rooms since my sons were travelling with us. The rooms are clean, and decorated in a modern style, with modern double glazed windows. Tea, coffee, kettle and a fridge (mini bar) also provided in the rooms. The buffet breakfast offers just about everything you could need to set you up for a busy day of sightseeing. The location is extremely convenient for visiting the Vatican and fine for walking to all the attractions in the city. We did not use public transport all week! Would definitely consider booking this hotel again if we return to Rome.

The pictures were deceiving and it’s like a jail cell with concrete walls around you. So tiny and humid with no access to AC. I would not recommend it at all even if you have to stay overnight for a day. It’s more like a 1-2 star hotel than a 4 star as advertised. Do yourself a favour and find a different hotel.

We enjoyed our stayed at Hotel La Rovere. Friendly staff and great accommodations. Having stayed in Rome before and been disappointed by the air conditioning, this hotel was a pleasant surprise. The air conditioning was fantastic, especially for someone who suffers from heat rash. The room and bed were comfortable, making for an overall excellent stay. Plus, it’s conveniently close to St. Peter’s Basilica. Highly recommend!

This hotel is on a narrow street a block from the river, a short walk to either Vatican City or the Travestere area. Michelangelo and the rest of the staff were very friendly and professional.

If you're looking for a vista overlooking the city or a sunset view, a short, steep walk up the hill behind the hotel leads to Janinculum Hill, which offers both.

This hotel is conveniently located near some of the major attractions. Our room was small, but the hotel was neat. The staff were super helpful and made the experience even more enjoyable. The hotel is located in an \"alleyway\" - some cabs can get through and others will do a drop off on the main road where the hotel's sign is. The steps are dark at night, but we were fine. We actually found the hotel to be in line with some of the best dining options. Certain areas looked like alleyways, but they led to some of the most lively spots like Trastevere. We felt comfortable.

My daughter (24) and I stayed in room 402. The location was fantastic, allowed for easy access to all the big sites, a great venue to have a glass of wine overlooking the river, and enjoy a quiet sleep. The staff were personable and helpful. The hotel was clean and off the busy corridor, but close to transit. I / we would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again.

I needed to book two rooms on short notice so I didn’t have the luxury of time to research thoroughly. Because of this, I trusted the reviews and ratings of this hotel and booked for two nights. My first impression was already soured when instead of offering to help, the male concierge stood and watched as my mom struggled to open the door and get her luggage over the sloped entrance. Ok then, whatever. The concierge then tells us they lock the doors at midnight for safety and that was a huge red flag. Then we get into the elevator and it smells sour and dingy and it can barely fit two people. As for the room, it was more spacious than I was expecting but after walking barefoot for ten minutes the bottoms of my feet were absolutely filthy as if the floors hadn’t been mopped in months. The bed was way too firm even for European standards and the sheets and blankets wreaked so badly of detergent that I had to use my own blanket that I brought for the plane trip. My dad’s room didn’t even have any blankets anywhere on the bed or in the closet and the beds were so short his feet were hanging off the edge. The bathroom was very spacious but the door creaked so loudly it would easily wake someone up if opened/closed at night. If you go out at night be prepared to find men hanging out in the alleys drinking beer. Really bad experience all around and I seriously don’t understand the positive reviews of this place. I love a small boutique hotel but there’s nothing cozy here.

We really enjoyed our stay Hotel la Rovere. The front desk staff (shout out to Giuseppe in particular) was beyond accommodating when it came to finding transportation, choosing a restaurant, borrowing an iron, or whatever else we needed. We stayed in a top-floor room with a balcony, which offering charming views of the neighborhood behind the hotel beautiful views of the Tiber and the heart of Rome. Our room had a comfy bed, a small desk area, and a sitting area. Only knocks, probably: the shower is a pretty small and there's a little evidence of wear and tear in the room. And not only was it an easy 15–30-minute walk to most of the sites in Rome, but you're just a ten-minute stroll to the Trastavere neighborhood, which is rich with little cafés and trattorias. We loved our time here and would definitely stay again...especially in a top-floor room with a balcony :)

La Rovere 5 star except for transportation access

Everything about the hotel was a 5 for us. Two items that were issues. First, we used the hotel arranged transportation from the airport - the van broke down and the driver abandoned us locked inside a hot van while he went for water for the engine. This was the worst of a brutal trip from the airport. Second, the hotel location is on a side street and difficult for a taxi to access - Had to walk up a dark ally to get to the hotel at night.

Overall, the hotel is nice, clean and has modern facilities. The staff is nice and responsive. They have a nice bar area and cafe area, but we did not use them and never saw them in use, so we can't comment more on them.

Disliked:

We booked 2 rooms. One had a big ant situation. The staff did address it and it was no longer a problem.

The hotel is not on the main street, as we expected. When the taxi dropped us off, we were told we had to walk and carry our luggage through an alley with stairs at the end to find the entrance to the hotel. The hotel is located on a small alley/street, but taxis refuse to go there. We always had to meet our taxis on the main street, which meant walking down the alley, even when it was raining.
Like so many hotels, they tell you to hang your towels if you don't want/need them to be replaced, but they tend to replace them anyway. Not a big deal...

This property is a gem located near the historical St. Peter's Basilica. The hotel had just finished a very tasteful Renovation. The room was very comfortable as was the bathroom. I feel like Gollum in The Hobbit by saying \"my precious\"!
When we arrived, we came in a larger shuttle from our cruise, and it wouldn't fit up the tiny side road that lead to the front of the hotel. However, this ended up being a good thing as it provided a sound barrier to the nearby busy streets. So we made the 1/2 block walk while the porter came and collected our luggage.
When we entered the lobby the most pleasant people greeted us. Our room had delightful views and we also had a private balcony!
Throughout our stay, the staff helped coordinate our activities with great success!
That 1/2 black away, held a couple of restaurants and a small grocery store.
I walked from the Vatican back to the hotel which was easy, just walk to the river and take a right.
Other major sites were walkable to more athletic folks.
I brought my mother, and facilities were accessible except for the shower which was a tad smaller than the cruise ship's.
At the time of this review, they were in construction on other floors of the hotel.
Remember to bring your outlet converters!

Super nice and straightforward property. Well positioned and easy to find and access, despite being on a small side street. (thanks for the sign on the main street!). The room very nice, nicely decorated, bathroom nice with everything I needed. (Water pressure slightly disappointing). all staff very friendly and helpful. I did not take advantage of the breakfast or other amenities. It was perfect for my roman getaway which was with the main goal of visiting museums and exploring the city.

The room and location were great. There was however,inconsistency in the price quoted when I requested price for additional nights at the front desk with the price going up considerably within approximately 1 hr. I was also quoted additional cost for the taxi to the airport even though it had been explained by a different staff member and the taxi that it was a set price . When I questioned I was told it was for the luggage (!).There was 1 bag. The amount was not huge but on principle it left us feeling taken advantage of. When questioned they retracted by stating they would book another taxi. Though the location and room were great I would not recommend.
