It was a huge disappointment. My wife and I arrived at 8pm after a long day traveling only to find out we didn’t have a room. Front desk said they couldn’t find either me or my wife. By the way, it was my WIFE’S BIRTHDAY. We realized front desk had no interest in solving the situation so we decided to contact Expedia. Expedia called the hotel and front desk acted very strange. First they couldn’t speak English, then they could. Then the connection was lost…I was still with the Expedia rep on the line when all of the sudden the reservation showed up. However, he said they didn’t have the room we paid for, only a full bed. So, I had to sleep in a full bed with my wife for 3 nights. They also did absolutely nothing to compensate us for this horrible experience. I do not recommend this hotel. You can find better options closer to Buenos Aires’ highlights and with a staff that actually cares about you.

I reserved a room with one double bed and received a room with two individual beds, they changed it and the new room had no hot water, no safety box, bathroom amenities in poor condition, I could not control the temperature of the AC, and the list goes on. The staff apologized but nothing was really done. Nice hotel but disappointed with my stay.

My wife and I have been traveling in South America for two months. The staff at this hotel are by far the rudest we have come across, especially in restaurant at breakfast. Don't know why they are so unhappy. Tried to fill my coffee mug to take to room early morning. \"This will count as your breakfast\" the man said in an irrated tone. I was shocked but got breakfast later after talking to front desk. They try to squeeze every possible penny out of you at ridiculous prices. Room was clean and comfortable, but paper thin walls let in lots of noise. Would not stay here again if they paid me to. Area full of homeless transients, not threatening at all but inconvenient compared to areas near port. Rude staff is my main reason for this review, though.

We were upgraded to a bigger room that had better soundproofing and it was just perfect! Once again the bed was incredibly comfortable! Good shower and water pressure( I am a plumber) and found the extra space in the room just great! We would stay at Scala again next time for sure.

The hotel is just a short walk away from the San Telmo attractions and market. The air conditioning in our room was unreliable and switched itself onto the hot setting during the night.We had to leave the window open! The bed was perfect! The hot selection at breakfast was over cooked and had been heated for too long a period!

Grand hotel lobby and comfortable room with a strong shower in a good location (San Telmo).

I arrived in the morning and checked in but my room wasn’t ready. My room was prepaid but as a guarantee, I was asked to provide my credit card. I thought that it was unusual that the reception wrote down my CC details on a piece of paper. When I got my room in the afternoon, I was asked for my CC again. I questioned the staff as I had already provided it earlier but he just shrugged and said he doesn’t have it. Again, credit card details were handwritten on a piece of paper. I urge the hotel to investigate as it doesn’t seem professional to write down a guest’s sensitive information and then lose it.

I would also comment that the guys at the reception area have a “couldn’t care less” attitude and didn’t seem interested during the check in process.

First Stay at Scala!

This was our first time staying at Scala and it is a very elegant hotel. The room was spacious, clean, well laid out. The bed was comfortable and large (unheard of in South America) as were the linens. The bathroom had higher end fixtures and a great shower and amenities. The room service food ordered was not of great quality. The morning breakfast buffet was nicely stocked with many options. Very convenient to public transportation, restaurants, etc.

Spacy clean and quiet room. Roof terrace with loungers, small pool and very nice view of the street below.
We stayed in this hotel for a few weeks and found everything to be consistent during our stay.

La Scala hotel in Buenos Aires

The Scala was a spacious hotel with large comfortable rooms. It was in a great location for walking, subways buses and sightseeing. The front desk staff were extremely helpful, especially Florencia who went out of her way to help us with transportation, bookings and translations. The breakfast provided was good and had a lot of food choices. My only complaint was the breakfast serving staff who were not friendly and seemed inconvenienced. We would definitely recommend The Scala to fellow travellers and friends

Excellent, well priced hotel close to everything. Lots off pretty areas inside and out to unwind. The roof top terrace with pool is a wonderful place to relax after a day of walking. an older yet grand hotel

The hotel location is in San Telemo, so a bit south of the city centre and Florida shopping street. It is still very accessible. The hotel staff was generally helpful. The hotel room was spacious; beds were like new and firm; the linens were clean and ironed.
The hotel breakfast was not very tasty or abundant in varieties. When the food went out, it took us many complaints and half an hour later in order to get the staff to bring out fresher food.

Amazing hotel, right on the 9 de Julio but with double-paned glass so it's hard to hear anything. Highly recommend getting their shuttle service - we paid $50USD and had a driver waiting for us to drop us off directly, well worth it for safety, comfort and convenience.

Great location and great rooftop views

We spent a week here. It was incredibly hot and humid so we greatly appreciated the rooftop splash pool. The breakfast was excellent and evening meals were big enough to share. The staff was very helpful and tolerant of our very poor Spanish. The waterfront was an easy taxi ride or walk. The hotel often hosts famous guests; a couple of music groups were there during our stay so had to navigate groupies out front. Taxis were readily available and airport transfers were waiting for us. This was our second stay and would stay here again.

Staffer who spoke English could at first not find our reservation
.Then upon checkout she could not find the Expedia rate that was agreed upon. She called her manager and that was resolved. The room given to us was nice but a subway roar was
underneath. I asked for a room on the upper floor but they only had a double and a staffer said all the rooms had the subway noises under them even on the upper floors. ( doubtful).The
hotel was not located on a nice street.It faced a huge avenue with lots of traffic. We did have
double panes on the Windows but we did hear rhe roar of the subway. I would not recommend
this hotel because of lack of transparency and the difficulty over my bill.

Staff at the front desk were excellent. Allowed early check in. The noise from the hallway carries, so we could hear every sound from the hallway outside our room. The door to the washroom in our room was broken when we arrived. We notified the front desk. It was taken care of right away. There was also a strange smell in the room. The hotel used air freshener, which helped. They forgot to turn on the air conditioner to the room. Once the AC was on, it helped clear the funny smell. If you are leaving the hotel to fly from EZE, ask the staff at the desk to book a private ride for you. Cost was 400 ARS, as opposed to a taxi which would have cost us around 1,000 ARS.

Management did not address the problem and on second day cleaning staff came in regarding hot room and refrigerator not working. We were then moved to another room on another floor that was great. I only spent one night there but what a wonderful experience! That was the largest hotel room I've ever been in and the luxurious bathroom had a separate tub, shower, toilet, and bidet! The room was very clean and well appointed. The staff were helpful in arranging taxis and giving us directions. They locked up our luggage after we checked out so we could tour the city before leaving for the airport that night. We ate a chicken dinner in the hotel restaurant that was so much food I put the leftovers in my room's refrigerator and I ate them for breakfast the next morning. The hotel is right on the large main street in Buenos Aires, the one that becomes 9 de Julio Ave. (the largest street in the world). I was on the 2nd floor overlooking the street but didn't hear a lot of traffic noise. Just to be sure it wouldn't bother me I used my Mack's silicone earplugs for complete silence. It's a convenient location which seemed safe. If I'm ever in Buenos Aires again, I will definitely stay there!!

really surprised as the hotel was cheap but great. it was a walk away from Terron Colon, Opera House, which is a must do for a tour. Also the flea market on sundays and there is a bar called El Federal in a side street heading towards the markets that was excellent. Staff were great and Hotel itself was a four or five star, highly recommend it.

On arrival at the hotel we were greeted by very friendly & helpful reception staff. Throughout our stay at Scala Hotel they were always very helpful and friendly. When we were shown to our room, it was very clean with plenty of space.
We had booked for the buffet breakfast during our stay at Scala Hotel. Breakfast is from 6.30am to 10.30am so plenty of time to get food. The hotel is used for many overnight stays for tour groups in Buenos Aires and when the tour groups had been for breakfast, they seemed to take as much as possible from every buffet station so there were often a lot of empty spaces within the buffet. On a few occasions we asked for things to be topped up but were told they had finished for the day. And at 8.30am - 9am I don't think we were particularly late having breakfast as it was due to go on until 10.30am. This is the only thing we can fault other than this it was a great hotel.

We arrived earlier in the morning about 10:00am, because the room was not ready and we were told that it will be 2 hours before our room will be ready. so We stored our luggage in the hotel. We specifically told the front desk to give us a quite room as we were so earlier, we should be able to have a quite room. The front desk told us there was not a problem for our request.
However, when we returned to have our room around 3:00pm, to our surprise, we were given a room in first floor facing the noisy big street and next to the elevate. When we asked to change room, we were told there was no other room for us to change. After we refuse to accept the answer, we were showed a room with 3 single beds like dormitory type of room. After we refuse to take that room as we booked 2 twin beds room, we were given a room in 3rd floor with one king bed.
There was no English speaking channel on TV. The staff in the front desk was rude and speaks very little English. When we ask them to break a $100 pesos into small bills, they said \"NO\". Everything we ask, they said \"NO\". The hotel is towards group tours we saw group of Chinese tours in with big bus and groups of sports teams (i.e is the reason there are rooms set up as dormitory. They charge $180 for continental breakfast.
Wifi is very slower unless after 12:00am midnight.

Florencia is truly one of Buenos Aires gems. The dining room food and staff was great; we always found someone that spoke english to assist us. Arriving at the hotel they couldnt find my reservation. Took them more than 1/2 hour to find it, after travelling all night, this was not pleasant, even after they found the reservation it was too early and they made no effort to accomodate, amde me come back at one. When I returned - ish left my luggagr with the concierge, it took them over 15 minutes and then i had to go in to recogniEd it, even though the ticket had a number. Hotel is very pretty but located in a pretty run down area of the city

Great location to many places of interest in Buenos Aires including restaurants and museums. I've been warned to be careful at night around the area as there are many thieves but I had no issues the two nights I was out and about in the area. My room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. Bathrooms were very spacious and relaxing. Staff was very helpful and courteous from start to finish. Leonardo at the front desk also was able to call someone to take me to the Aeroparque airport for 250 peso's but you can get there from the may taxi's passing by for around 100 peso's. Overall for the price I paid, I would not mind staying here again in the future!

Super comfortable and quiet. Amazing and delicious breakfast buffet. Had tourist map but little information on getting bus tickets or how to get money. This was partly due to language difficulties since I speak minimal Spanish and partly due to recent elections and change in banking policies. You can only withdraw 2000 pesos at a time and only do it twice a day. You need to use banelco system banks - look for big red B outside bank. This is only 300$ US so plan to go to bank daily!!

Staff were extremely rude. Had a very early flight and asked them 4 times for breakfeast pack for my 2 children...it fell on deaf ears. My husband tried to have supper at the restaurant and waiter and chef could not get his order correct...it was very frustating.

Gorgeous hotel, perfect location

My stay at this hotel was wonderful - the location of Hotel Scala is perfect, being at the edge of San Telmo and Centro with a subway stop and bus stops literally across the road from the hotel. The hotel was spacious, quiet and very clean, the staff were friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel near San Telmo

Fairly large hotel near San Telmo. It was about a 4 or 5 block walk to restaurants in San Telmo. The breakfast buffet was very good.
