The room was nice but very very hot. No fan was offered. Just opening windows to the courtyard where people smoked. So that came into the room and I have asthma.
When I first got there I accidentally left the door open after carrying my and my wife’s large luggage in. An employee was angry I had left it open. I apologized as he angrily snarled at me then proceeded to sit in his chair. Needless to say, I did not feel welcome when I first got there. However, the rest of the staff was friendly and the breakfast was good.

Hotel provides really good breakfast.
Rooms are ok. My kids had a good laugh when they saw the hair dryer.
The heating system was aweful. We visited this week (Jan, 2026) and the rooms got too hot. It wasn't pleasant. The heating is controlled centrally and doesn't allow guest to adjust heating to their own comfort level.

Rooms are very old style and small. This is a 3.5 star hotel at most. Breakfast is disappointing, everything taste like it came out of a stale box, shame for a eurozone location known for great food taste and places. Even the coffee was awful, how do you mess that up especially in Italy!!!!. No kettle, no mini bar in the room. If you must stay here get your breakfast and food elsewhere. Nothing grand about this place other than it's located close to bus and train stations, however your going to have to lug luggage up and down the stairs across the big canal bridge especially if your arriving late evening. The boat rides and boat transit are also across the canal. Rooms have heavy old style keys and you only get one, Grand mistake for a pricey place, Carlton Hotel management reminder we are in the digital age now catch up!!! Appreciated the complimentary luggage storage as we visited town after check out.

Location on the grand canal across from the train station where the water ‘bus’ stops are, so easy to get around. First night in a single, just a twin bed but a new bathroom and the best shower I have had. Second night, different reservation, larger room with a good shower. Both were clean and comfortable. The staff was exceptional. Looked like a popular place for tour groups and they kept things moving. I didn’t have breakfast or use their restaurant. A bit if a walk to the main tourist sites, but that’s half the fun - very easy connection with the ‘bus’.

At check-in room wasn’t ready right away, room smelled dank/damp, obvious signs of water damage/repair to ceiling corner of room, fire alarm woke us up early in the morning had to evacuate in the rain, upon leaving encountered a busker/hustler “giving” ponchos but then following for money, and my daughter and I both had numerous bug bites after the one night when googled looked just like bed bug bites, but the view from the room was nice :)

I know it’s Venice and old & beautiful! It definitely was! Just wish we could have had a coffee maker in our room especially with early tours! Didn’t even have coffee available in lobby until their breakfast was ready! I need coffee when I wake up! The safe lock broke and we had to call front desk! The man broke it open ! Thank God because we put our passports in there! The refrigerator did not work at all! The rooftop bar was so much more expensive than any other eateries in Venice! It was so hot in room! Air conditioning didn’t work! We were told because it’s October and winter was here! Not for us! The positive it was close to all!

Carlton on the Grand Canal, has a very friendly team, specially Tudor on the Front desk, who was extremely patient and helpful with his recommendations and options for the area/transport. Rooms are clean, spacious and bright. Convenient location, across from the Main station and vaperetto stop. Roof top restaurant is amazing !! Express Bus available for Marco Polo International Airport, within 5 minutes walk. We were very happy.

Perfect hotel in front of the canal with a lot of transportation options. This property is close to the train ststion, bus station and uber. Also you can take a water taxi in front of the property. They have restaurant and a rooftop bar that can also serves food... The view from the rooftop is stunning facing the canal. They offer breakfast and it was great. Very close to restaurants and shop... The hotel has elevators and the rooms decor are perfect for Venice... Very Victorian style. Love it! Highly recommend

I would love to stay in this area, good food which centre of Grand canal? But The room of the hotel where I stayed it’s horrible when you have shower the water is smashing everywhere because it’s just curtains on by the shower bed is horrible and they don’t even change bed sheets I asked for twin bed well it is twin bed but one only headboard so you can’t split. I have a lot of mosquito bites.in the advert is look very inviting in the room Reality The room is horrible.
And every time I need to go to my room, I need to walk all the way at the back out and then in I I would never go back again with the hotel actually the room that they gave us is for disability people

Nightmare @Carlton Hotel in Venice Italy..

First time in Venice. room is hot , dirty. I have to ask for another room which is they gave me another room in the first floor, but I feel like I’m in a dungeon dark and also hot room so so.. during breakfast time it’s kind like they are pushing us always in a hurry. its like we’re in the military army group go go go. Veronica in the breakfast area is unfriendly and go go go. It’s kinda like we’re in the military camp. We can’t eat comfortably. What the heck! she seems like she’s not happy of what she does and I’m not happy at all..

We only stayed one night but the hotel was great. They held our items until check in, were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel had a great ambiance. The room was nice and air conditioned. The bathroom and room were very clean and both had good amenities. The price is great for those staying short term in Venice who want a great m experience that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Also, while the location is far from many tourist sights, it’s very close to the train station making it extremely convenient for travel.

We had a wonderful stay at the Carlton. The location was on the grand canal, right across from the train station - which was perfect for a quick arrival with loaded bags. The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. The room was old fashion in a good sense of the way - very Beauty and The Beast decor. We did not eat at the restaurant but the breakfast spread looked amazing. Ask for a room overlooking the canal or courtyard. We walked and walked the city but you could easily hop on a water bus from across the hotel and be at the main sights within mins.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Carlton on the Grand Canal. The hotel has lovely decor throughout—stylish and full of quirky charm that gives it real character. It’s situated at the top end of the Grand Canal, so it is a bit of a walk from the main sights, but still very accessible with good transport links nearby. The hotel is close to the train station. The door to the room did not close well so we heard a lot of noise from the hall. The room was warm and there was no air conditioning. We were told that the city didn't allow them to run AC in April. Opening the windows helped a little but mosquitoes entered the room and buzzed around our heads all night long. The bed was hard. The toilet was right next to a warm radiator.

Room was nice, cleaners were good, view wasn't good at all so check if you want a view otherwise it's the roof and Aircon pipes.

Would use again just for the accessibility. Walking distance to the bus stop and tram stop. Really good for vaporetto access.

Breakfast was just right. Crowded at 830 onwards so get as early breakfast as you can.

Such a lovely start to our honeymoon, arriving direct to the hotel from the airport via vaporetti. The hotel is beautiful, with extremely helpful and friendly staff. After checkout m, we were able to leave our bags with the hotel so that we could explore more of beautiful Venice. Hallways are a little tired, but this didn’t impact our wonderful stay. Would definitely stay again!
