The ac was good. They had power shut downs at least 2 times between 4 and 6 but we were enjoying the pool anyway. No big deal. The people were friendly and they even gave us free coffee. The scuba diving company on site was excellent Diving Planet. Make sure you go out at least once. They also allow lionfish hunting. I caught 21 with my friend. Highly recommend it for some R&R.

Check in real late, supposed to be double deluxe room ( it wasn’t) all inclusive food (limited aftr first day) , no water aftr checkin & every night.. we’ve stayed there before .. it was amazing… went back .. was horrible!! Staff very unappreciative of people that stay multiple days … not accomadating…Actually told me they were “ too busy” .. to adress the issues and I was the only one there in the lobby. …They were actually spooning pineapple juice froth into another glass just to make it appear like there was more and glass was only 3/4 full…. Don’t go there. Head manager is horrible at her job!!

The Rosario islands are a special place and this hotel was a great place to stay and enjoy our visit. A small and very quiet hotel with nice clean rooms and very friendly staff. The internet worked well as well. There is water access but no beach, but a few minutes walk off the grounds will take you to several lovely beaches and a place to buy bottled water affordable. The pool was not operational during our stay but they must have it running by now. Lots of day activities if you so desire but we just enjoyed lounging in the many hammocks in the shade of palm trees enjoying the ocean view.The breakfast buffet was fine as was the dinner menu was adequate as well. Thankfully Fabio and David were there as they spoke good English and were able to help us out a lot. It would have been hard without them there for us with our limited Spanish. If you are looking for a quiet natural stay away from it all this hotel is highly recommended.

The Hotel Cocoliso is a lovely property right on the sea. The staff were helpful when we arrived and made sure we were comfortable. The room itself was a bit utilitarian. In fact a constructive criticism about the whole experience is that it is time for Cocoliso to have a makeover update. The paint is chipping away, the door handles are screwed it nicely, some units haven't even had their bathrooms updated from a campsite shower experience and the main area is in deep need of a new pool table, ping pong gaming experience. It's really Frat House level. We found the dining to be wanting as well. The food that they did have was meh at best. And, the quality was inconsistent depending on the day. Sometimes the pasta was mashed potatoes overcooked and sometimes it was alright. They had no pizza the whole week either. However, in their defense, the bartender at the pool was fantastic and the drinks were great. The highlight of the trip was meeting Simone, the boat tour operator who took us on three little outings. He was super professional, a really nice guy and conscientious toward making sure everyone was safe out in the sea. He knows everyone on the island and beyond and went out of his way to make sure everyone had a great time. All in all it was probably worth what we spent on the rooms. But, three nights there seemed like a day too long for us.

Hey if your Loooking for tranquility ,great hospitality and a place to enjoy family and friends. I highly recommend! My daughter and I did 3 nights in December 2024… very safe,great diving,a village just a 20 minute walk 10 minute bike ride ( thanks Simon!) .. very memorable with blue waters,great food and drinks. We. Will be back. Thanks to everybody at Planet Dive( on premise dive shop). The staff amazing! Note …boat ride from Cartagena very convenient..take the day or go to here .. multiple days to unwind!

Check in was terrible. Cocoliso claims that our booking through Hotels.com did not show up on their system despite over thirty emails and What'sApp messages to confirm our stay and boat ride and claimed they were fully booked. After two hours with Hotels.com on the phone, Hotels.com stated the booking was confirmed, Cocoliso kept stating that it was not showing up since they were fully booked. Finally, the manager offered us the smallest of their rooms. The bathroom and door had black mold, the hallway had years of cobwebs. Cocoliso needs a lot of repairs, fresh paint, and a better system to integrate with Hotels.com

This resort hotel has a lot of potential. The staff was friendly. Ample lounge chairs and beds by the pool and ocean. Air-conditioner in room worked well too. Once the sun goes down, there is not much to do for guests. You basically have to entertain yourself. There is only one restaurant on the premises. Not everything advertised on the menu was available. You won't be able to have dessert if it's not ordered before 8:30 pm. I would also recommend bringing mosquito repellent for the evenings.

We recently stayed at this hotel. I have to say I was a little worried about the rating but now having stayed there I can honestly say it was wonderful. The staff is so nice! They go out of their way to be accommodating. The manager Tanya went around to each table to make sure eveyone was having a good time. We asked a few questions regarding the water situation. Many people commented that they should have water for guests. Well, Tanya explained this to us. Drinking water is liquid gold on the island. They have to bring it in from Cartagena. So it is perfectly understandable. The breakfast was very good the first morning we were there. On the second the breakfast changed to buffet with only scrabbled eggs which were watery. I asked for fried and again Tanya made it happen! Our room was nice and accommodated of our family of 4. The scuba diving was amazing. My daughter did 2 dives in the day and one at night.

No hot water ever. No water pressure. Lots of food item on the menu not available. Service is very very slow. Not sure how it stays open financially based on just 18 rooms. The ferry to and from is packed and good chance to get soaked on the way. I did. Drinks are very expensive.

Our experience at Cocoliso was generally very good. We loved the pool and the sea being so close. The staff were also on hand to help with anything we needed.

However, there are a few things that would imporve this experience. There is no water upon arrival, you can only buy a small bottle for 6000COP, somewhere onsite to buy big bottles of water would help.
When ordering drinks with dinner, the staff have to go to the pool bar, which means you are often waiting a while for a drink. There is space in reception for a small bar/fridge.

This is a lovely island resort that has all of the things you need. It felt safe for children going off to play on their own which was wonderful. The only kiddo thing was there wasn’t a large sandy beach area for playing but lots of the island seems similar in this regard. Some of the food and beverages seem expensive but you can easily wander to another resort and try out their food which are of similar prices. It’s overall a nice place to stay for a few days of heading out for a snorkel and playing in the pool.

My stay at Cocoliso was amazing! I did my PADI open water certification with Diving Planet, which is conveniently located within the resort. The staff was incredible and very friendly. I would absolutely recommend Cocoliso and if you’re interested with diving, go with diving planet!

David and his staff will do practically anything to please their customers. They are just coming back from a shut down during Covid and are working to get everything in tip top shape. Some work is in progress, some is done and some more to do. The grounds and pool areas are beautiful. Our room was comfortable, even though some plumbing needs attention. I’m positive next visit will be perfect!

Cocoliso is a beautiful resort. The gardens, pool, and common areas are well taken care of. Staff is very helpful and friendly and go out of their way to help guests. David was wonderful! The food and drinks were delicious. It was a little bit confusing how to get there in the afternoon. Boats usually leave in the morning from Cartagena, we had to secure transportation to Baru to be able to cross to Cocoliso at 4pm. It wasn't difficult, but we had to make few calls to figure out the process.

The location is simply splendid, but that’s all...The rooms are in very poor condition, falling down sink, broken doors, torn towels, no hot water (actually almost no water). On top of this, there’s also the “day use” scheme, where hundreds of people flow to the hotel, using the same facilities of the guests. This torture has a specific time: from 11:20 am to 3pm. Beware: they take the same boat from Cartagena that the guests take and the trip takes simply 2 hrs 20 min each way, a simply nightmare for people that has tendency to seasickness...other than that, the island has Incredible landscapes!

Really disappointed in this place as I noticed other hotels on the island were lower priced but waaaay better. The good: hotel price includes transportation on a boat to and from Cartagena (it’s a bigger boat not speed boat so it’ll take longer but a less bumpy ride), the receptionist was very sweet and the only person that has an understanding of customer service, AC, there is direct access to the lagoon with the bioluminescent plankton nearby. Now onto the bad:Rooms are way overpriced even compared to the rest of the island. I don’t know how they have the gall to charge what they do. The beds are rock solid and there is no heated water. This place is pretty outdated probably built in the 80s and never updated since. Breakfast isn’t always included and I highly suggest not paying for meals here. the service aside from the receptionist was terrible. Granted things are slower on an island and I get that but no one could careless here. We waited over an hour for our food and ended up leaving and walking over to the next resort over to get dinner. We ended up having all our meals there instead of cocoliso. My suggestion is to book at San Pedro de Majagua and avoid cocoliso if you can. Or do a day trip to do some snorkeling if you can.

The island is absolutely beautiful. The resort itself is a little run down. Take into consideration that it is cheap to be staying on an island, and it reflects that. The rooms are very old and dirty. Dust and dirt on all the light fixtures and fans. The bathroom was dirty. There was cockroach in our bed the first night. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. The food at the resort is your only option and it’s not good at all. You will pay more for the food because you’re on an island, but the quality is very low. Other than all of that, the island is very lovely and there are vendors on site to take you on excursions. We snorkeled and went with a woman on a trekking and mangrove canoeing trip that was really lovely.

My husband and I stayed on this island and it was truly wonderful! The rooms are nice and clean and the site is breathtaking. The water is gorgeous and so warm. The staff is so kind especially the receptionist Sharon! Make sure to ask about all the fun activities: diving, snorkeling, going through the mangroves via kayak, exploring the jungle, visiting the aquarium!!! Also they offer a free boat shuttle from Cartagena!!!

Stayed here for 5 days. This is a beautiful property that could use some updating. Pros would include that it is right on the beach, great pool, diving planet dive company located onsite. Rooms were clean but no hot water. Wifi was very spotty and weak but available. If you are able to enjoy simple island life amenities and be disconnected from the world then this place really isn't that bad. Keep in mind there is no store on this island so bring extra sunscreen and bug spray.

Room and bathroom had mold. Only one room had air conditioning.
Crack in door allowed roaches to get in. Had to place several towels to keep bugs out.
No hot water.
Several staff members were outstanding: Evelyn at front desk was a perfect hostess, and Charon was nice as well. Roman was outstanding as wait staff and very helpful in general. They made our stay.

Mid level resort with loud music

This is not an eco resort but a place to lounge by a large pool (no beach) with loud continuous active music.
There is a dive and snorkel program mornings. The winds kick up in the afternoon.
Well kept up, Cocoliso caters to half Colombian 20 somethings and families with the occasional foreigner. The food is mediocre . It’s a 45 minute boat ride there but a 2 hour return because of a river flowing into the ocean.
A day trip gives you 4 1/2 hours there. I stayed 2 nights which was unnecessary

The whole hotel is outdated and has not been renovated for ages... would say for 30 years. There is not even hot waters in the rooms. It is far from being a 3 stars hotel.
The staff is friendly but reception is not very efficient when it is time to make your bill.

The longchairs and the beach is in horrible conditions.

The food is very basic don't expect to fancy a fine diner.

Positive point are the activities that are charged with extra but it is really bad experience every day when a big boat brings people to spend the day in the hotel swimming pool.

Very disappointing experience and the hotel should be ashamed to claim 3 stars and charges such amount for what they really offer.

Worst beach resort I've ever experienced.

This is a must miss. Not even worth a day trip which seems to be the main focus of their business. The rooms haven't been touched for decades and everything is dirty. The bath towels were especially disgusting. The beach was nonexistent so if that's what you are hoping to find try a different island. We couldn't wait to leave.

They had a very limited menu ad seriously the food was marginal at best .
While on the beach we were harrased continually by people selling trinquetes
The dive staff hit on my girlfriend ,she can not be the first girl they have ever seen in a bikini
I just happy my two days on that Island is over !

Not at all what we expected...

First, we are seasoned travelers and have traveled all over the world. We know what to expect, etc. We stayed at the Hotel Cocoliso because we wanted to spend the night on Isla Grande. Some observations... There is no beach. There are concrete piers and the \"beach\" is very rocky and painful to walk. The hotel is very very dated. The ONLY place to eat is at the hotel's restaurant and it was buffet style and meh. The hotel's rooms are BASIC and the beds are terrible - hard as a rock - one of the worst nights of sleep in my life. We thought about going out and sleeping in the pool chairs. No one speaks English...I mean, we realize we are in Colombia but this is a tourist resort and you'd think they'd at least have a basic understanding of English. It made it VERY difficult to understand anyone. Also, the boat ride back to the mainland was in an open boat and there were several VERY VERY drunk guests who made it miserable for everyone - I'm talking falling over other guests, hitting other guests and being obnoxious. No one from Cocoliso did anything to stop them. Also, it started pouring rain on the boat ride back and everyone got soaked. I understand they can't control the weather, just letting everyone else know to be prepared for the boat ride back.

All in all, not what we expected at all - we would not do it again. We were expecting a nice night stay on at an island resort and we felt like stranded travelers with no way off the island.

Beautiful location but rooms are awful

The cocoliso looks like it was a nice resort 15 years ago-it has definitely seen better days. The pool and beach area are very nice but our room was small and depressing. The bed was terrible, rock hard mattress, no mattress pad so the dingy old sheet kept slipping off which meant we ended up sleeping directly on the mattress-not good. The food was sub standard to the point that I dreaded meals.
