The hotel is very central for visiting the monestary. The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was very good.
Other guests in the hotel the night we stayed were very noisy and woke us up several times

My stay here was calm and peaceful. I particularly loved the bilingual staff, they were super helpful and very friendly. They helped me get a cab to the airport. The room was nice and clean, breakfast was lovely.

No unnecessary hidden charges. Big plus for me.

My one recommendation would be to have fliers or cards for tour companies. I was given a map of the area indicating places I could visit but if they added pamphlets or business cards for tour companies, I think this would just be a plus.

Thanks for the apple I got from the reception. Made for a nice snack.

Apart from the initial indication of the rundown and shabby state of this hotel being a shattered glass entrance door held together with cling film and tape (apparently caused recently by the wind) the first room allocated was unclean and malodorous. The reception team reallocated a room but this hotel is as a whole shabby unclean and far from deserving a four star status. Avoid.

Unfortunately upon arrival I was suffering from a head and chest cold. The walls are paper thin and I was snoring a bit loudly. My neighbor continued to pound on the wall throughout the night. I understand his frustration but I would suggest not staying here if you snore at all.

Great hotel, great price, good service

This is a great hotel, I assume the best in the town. It has a lovely feel to it. Very elegant building which the photos don’t do justice.

The staff especially the nice lady on reception were excellent.

Negatives are room was small and no facilities (no gym etc) but overall it was great value for money and we would stay again.

Disappointing. I had stayed at this hotel several years ago and looked forward to returning, but this time had a small spartan room with tiny thin towels. The pool and pool area are still very good, and the hotel is a block from the bus station. Higher end rooms may be better.

Me hubiera gustado que cambiaran las sábanas si las veían sucias. Estuve con mis dos hijos de dos y cinco años pero solo hasta que las vieron mal manchadas las cambiaron o les dieron la vuelta! Nunca lo tuve claro. Debajo de las camas deberían barrer cua do hacen el aseo del cuarto porque estaba lleno de basura y polvo etc. Estuve 4 noches 5 días. La piscina helada.

Would not class this as a 4 star hotel it should be a 3 star. Our room was ok but not as nice as the pictures online and looked a bit tired in need of some freshening up. Also paid quite a bit extra for a room with a balcony where others we were traveling with did not and they ended up with the same sized rooms, also with balconys with was frustrating!

The staff is so wonderfully attentive I wish they had a better product to work with. The pluses for this hotel are the location (steps from the bus station and just down the hill from El Escorial) and the breakfast which is included in the room price is incredibly varied and quite tasty. The hotel has managed to hold on to its Old World feel but unfortunately the rooms are very beat up. I stayed in two different rooms and they were both in poor condition. The walls were covered with scuff marks, the bathroom ceilings had serious water stains, and both rooms had heating issues (in one room it did not work so it was cold, in the other room I was not able to regulate the temperature at all and it was way too hot) and the bathroom cleanliness in the second room left a lot to be desired. The food at the restaurant for dinner was not what one would expect from a 4 star hotel. It was a shame. I did want to like this hotel a lot. It wasn't horrible and my stay was short, but one does expect more from a 4-star accommodation. Still, the staff, especially Patricia, made up for it.

I cannot write prices here, but this hotel has charged prices for photocopies which are otherwise paid for printing high-quality photos. In addition even though I said print 2 pages on one I was charged for each page. Really disappointing!

Great hotel for a relaxing holiday.

I stayed here for a break and it was probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in. I speak very little Spanish, but the hotel staff were great and friendly, so I felt at home even though I was travelling alone. Most hotels are not relaxing but this was, and I was able to enjoy the outdoor areas on warm Spanish evenings. Everything was so clean, and it was warm and comfortable. Could not have asked for more. Breakfasts were amazing, so much choice.
I would not recommend this location for people wanting nightlife or activity. This is quiet and peaceful, so it is perfect for a relaxing break. There were nice places to walk and it just made for a very de - stressing break.

We liked this hotel

elegant and comfortable hotel in a prime position a short walk from the town and the magnificent monastery. One possible disadvantage for non-european travellers not used to Spanish eating hours is that dinner is not served until 9.00pm. Otherwise, an ideal spot to stay in this interesting place.

A small palace gem in Escorial

The hotel is very accommodating situated in the heart of El Escorial within easy walking distance to the monastery, the town center plaza where there are many restaurants. It is very easy to find. The staff is courteous and friendly. It is a converted palace that has the look and feel of an exclusive place without the price. There is a sitting room that invites you for a cup of coffee or a snifter of good Spanish brandy. You will enjoy this place.

Can't beat the location!

The hotel is a 5\" walk to the entrance to El Escorial and to a bunch of lovely plazas and restaurants. The room was smallish, but adequate, very clean...but smelled horribly of smoke. The front desk said it was a no smoking room, but the smoke must be in the mattress or walls!! I was here in April on a lovely spring day and slept with both windows wide open to the night air. That helped. My room was 402, so the next morning I walked into 403...which didn't smell at all. And the hallways, lobby and dining room all smelled just fine, even nice. Breakfast is in a lovely room with a beautiful view to Madrid, and the array of choices was just fine. I lucked out getting a parking place at the hotel (about ten places) but it seems that there might be public parking about a block away near the monastery.

Convenient, clean but definitely NOT 4-Stars

The hotel is convenient to the main plaza and restaurants, and it is clean, but the rooms are small and the amenities are few. Worst of all the service is not a service. I confirmed a double bed in a non-smoking room and upon arrival they had me in a room with two twin beds. The man at the check-in desk in reluctantly moved us into a room with a double bed, and when we arrived it was a smoking floor. I'm pregnant and could smell the smoke from previous guests and in the hallway. Any time we asked the front desk a question they seemed annoyed. Like we were interrupting them.

There's a decent pool but it closes at 7pm. 7pm is fine for the US but it's highly unusual for Spain. It was 102 F out at 10pm. The pool should stay open later.

The \"free\" wifi didn't work. We had to go downstairs to request new passwords three times and then just have up on it.

They only had 10 parking spots (not really spots - find what you can along their front driveway) and told us use the public parking blocks away and pay an additional €12 per night. These things add up so they should note this in the hotel description.

I might not be as hard on this hotel if it had been ranked 3-star, but at 4-stars you expect more luxury. And no matter what the star rank you certainly expect good service. I won't recommend the NH chain in the future.

I'd go for a cheaper hotel with friendlier staff, closer to the plaza next time. Simply not worth the money and discomfort.

Great location with only a short walk to the monastery and El Escorial. Unfortunately we arrived on a Monday on our way to the south and the Escorial was closed, as were many of the bars and restaurants. Nevertheless we managed to find a reasonable bar/restaurant in the main square for a reasonable, if expensive evening meal. The only drawback was the car park which although relatively close was not very easy to find. Hotel staff were very helpful and keen to help.

It was in an excellent location, a great building and the staff were very helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately the room was disappointing - we booked a double but had 2 twins and they couldn't change it, sad and damaged MDF furniture and marks on the walls. The bed sheet was ripped but they couldn't change it as the housekeeping staff where no longer there. They were very nice about it though

Good hotel, best in El Escorial!

We have stayed at a number of hotels in El Escorial and this is by far the best. Perfect location just 1 minute from the Monastery grounds. Did not really use the hotel facilities other than the room. Upgraded to a room with terrace on arrival for an additional 7 euros. Room was a good size with an outside terrace overlooking a park and with views of Madrid in the distance. Tea / coffee making facilities in the room which is not standard in Spanish hotels. King sized Bed was so comfortable. Recommended.

Excellent price through Expedia, everthing went smoothly, rooms clean and comfortable, breakfast good. Hotel well located to explore El Escorial and surrounding area. Did not use any of the facilities so can't comment on those and did not eat an evening meal at the hotel. If I was being critical, dividing walls a bit thin so if you were to be next to noisy people then you might be affected. I would say, probably the best hotel in El Escorial and no I don't work for them or Expedia!

Este no es un hotel de 4 estrellas. El restaurante... cerrado. El bar... cerrado. La piscina... cerrada. El desayuno... pésimo. El wifi en la habitación... inexistente. Pagamos 149€ y l habitación muy pequeña y falta muchas cosas en el baño, ala de desayunar el horario no me parece, porque fuimos antes de las 11:30 y nos dijeron que ya no y que se habia terminado y el trato en la entrada fatal son unos pesados, y no confianban en nosotros y nos sentimos incómodos y la habitación hasta que no llamamos ala recepcionista no podríamos enceder el aire acondicionado y la habitación habitación era muy incómoda y al ser tan pequeña nos dimos golpes en la cabeza

Lamentable, de los peores 4 estrellas, por fuera promete, te esperas un hotel bien decorado, pero cuando entras en la habitación ves que se trata de un HOSTAL, mobiliario de IKEA, las habitaciones muy muy MAL INSONORIZADAS, la decoración mejor ni hablar.

No es un 4*, y ni por asomo vale lo que cuesta.

Creo que se queda corto para un hotel de 4 estrellas. La habitación que nos dieron era realmente chica. Limpia y cómoda, sí, pero pequeña para el precio que tenía. En el plano de la planta se veía que era, de hecho, la más pequeña de todas. No sé si se debe a que usamos la oferta de una noche gratis de hoteles.com y, al pagar menos por ella, nos dieron la habitación más pequeña, pero en cualquier caso, NO valía lo que acabamos pagando por ella, la verdad.

El personal y la ubicación son fantásticos.
Ahora bien, necesita una reforma importante en las habitaciones: algunos enchufes y la climatización no funcionan, olores fuertes a humedad, desgaste de mobiliario, decoración pobre... nada parecido a las fotografías promocionales.
