We love this hotel and have been here many times. It’s simple in terms of decor. Our bed this time (rm 403) was the most comfortable we’ve had. It’s a small room, not for too tall people as an alcove. Best location, super staff, lovely bar and outdoor seating, less than a minute to the Monastery and all the best restaurants.

Great location. Rooms were large. Unfortunately, there was a problem hotel wide with the hot water - as in there was not any. Although the problem was resolved, it took more than 45 minutes. Hence we had to forgo showers. Staff was helpful and provided great ideas on how to experience the area.

Good location for access to the monastery and the town, but there’s a school nearby with loud children coming and going throughout the day. There is also a music class across the street with music lessons going on as well. So if you don’t mind listening to students practicing on a variety of instruments you’ll be fine.

The property was really cute and clean. I loved the fact that it was so close to the Escorial! Hot water and warm room- lovely! It would have been even better if they had a microwave in the room.. or something else to make a hot tea. Anyways, I would stay there again.

Uncomfortable and food is not good .Pillows not suitable,head bangs against ceiling. Light in bedroom is bad.No sockets to charge telephone.

Convenient location, nice room

I had a nice stay at the hotel. The woman at reception was really nice when I checked in and checked out (always nice to be welcomed!). Location is really convenient. My room was on the smaller side, but it was nice, quiet, and clean. Having the on-site restaurant was really convenient, but some prices were on the high side.

Best place to enjoy El Escorial.

I will definitely go back! from the gorgeous room to the great location and service, I’m in love with the place, restaurant 24/7 included,

Charming old hotel in the very centre

Great location, just right at the El Escorial. Nice, clean room. Unfortunately, on the 4th floor the WIFi was not working well and because of a bar across the street it was so loud at night that we couldn't really sleep until about 3 o'clock.

El Hotel está estratégicamente ubicado cerca del Monasterio De El Escorial y también tiene muchos restaurantes alrededor. El personal es muy amable. Las habitaciones son un poco pequeñas, pero está muy bien para un par de días en los que solo se busque un lugar donde dormir. Se requiere buscar parking público o privado.

This lovely hotel has the best of both eras - historic and present. It has the marble staircase and beautiful carved wood of the early 1900’s with the modern bathrooms, free WiFi and AC required by today’s travelers. The staff is terrific!

The room was of a decent size with good bathroom facilities. We were awoken late at night with some locals enjoying a bar TV football game.
The Hotel is a 1 minute walk to the Palace which was a fabulous, huge, exquisite out of this world building.
We paid the 15 Euros to do the Palace Tour. The highlight was the vaults containing the Tombs. These where fabulous marble creations numbering perhaps 50 It seemed that most of the Middle Ages Royals from all around Europe had ended up there - even some of our English Regina ones.

A Perfect Taste of San Lorenzo

This hotel is a local legend. It's perfectly situated for a visit to this lovey town. The front desk staff is lovely and the rooms are clean. The rooms I had were on the small side and basic but it's a very old building and that's what I expected.

Atmospheric hotel in good location

The hotel is very conveniently located near the Escorial and it has a certain old-world charm and authenticity. It would have been quite good value for money had the receptionist not charged me twice: I didn't realise I had already paid via Expedia and funnily enough she didn't give me a receipt so I suppose she pocketed the cash.

Not a wonderful hotel in El Escorial

The hotel has a history... it´s been running since the XIX century... so.. the rooms have not been properly updated... wooden floors cracking all the time, the beds were really uncomfortable and hard... plus the service at the reception was a bit rude.. and the cafeteria serves sandwiches with ice in them... Not definitely a place to stay in...

Cheap & Great location, but not very comfortable

Was very inexpensive (1/3rd the price of other hotels we stayed in in Spain) and located with a beautiful view of the monastery in El Escorial. However, on day 1 our bedroom had no tables! The TV was on the floor, and no side tables. We thought it was kind of funny and maybe fitting in terms of proximity to the monastery. We were told at the front desk that there was no wifi that would reach our room. We were mostly thrilled to have a room with air conditioning after 90 degree July day. However, the bed had an extremely thin mattress and no mattress pad, so the comfort level was akin to sleeping on the floor.

Things improved in day 2 - we got the wifi password from a more helpful staff member at the front desk as I tried to work downstairs and found that the wifi range did extend to our 2nd floor room, though it was somewhat spotty. And when we returned to our room for the second evening, we were pleasantly surprised to find tables.

So, we probably would have had a better experience had we demanded it, but no overcoming the thin mattresses.

Room was perfect for my needs. Very clean. Great air conditioning. The hotel had no notice of my reservation but I had confirmation. The desk clerk was extremely helpful and friendly,gave me a small individual room at a lesser price that I could enter at 11am. The hotel is old but I like that. Great restaurant and service there too. Literally across the street and down the stairs was entrance to El Escorial. One of the housekeepers went out of her way to make sure the air conditioning was working properly. Very kind. The only problem was that Hotels.com hadn't communicated my reservation to the hotel, but that was no problem for the hotel!

Nice quiet hotel very well located. It is close to many restaurants. Unfortunately parking is not easy. There is a public parking at a cost of 2.70€/hour. The internet is only available at the reception area and restaurants/bar.

After reading some reviews that were a bit hit and miss and leaving booking til last minute we were a little apprehensive.
We didn't need to worry, the room was spacious and clean, beds comfortable and staff friendly and we enjoyed our stay.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but the bar seemed busy and the beer was good! Would recommend.

El hotel esta localizado muy muy cerca del Monasterio del Escorial (solo una calle lo separa).

La habitación era grande y espaciosa (fuimos 4 personas y tenia una habitacion con un sofa cama de dos plazas y la otra zona de la habitacion tenia la cama matrimonial grande). La habitacion tenia una mini terraza que no aprovechamos ya que llovía.

Al llegar la repeción fue super rapida.

El hotel se encuentra en zona azul (de pago) pero justo muy muy cerca esta un aparcamiento techado privado que ofrece un descuento si reservas con el código que dan en el hotel (recomiendo llamar para saber cual es el código y así beneficiarte de la pre-reserva)

Tiene un restaurante/cafeteria justo debajo (el cual no probamos)

Habitación con vistas al monasterio, pero muy limitada. Abuhardillada, el techo baja en curva hasta el suelo en dos zonas, lo que resulta muy molesto y te puede provocar golpes en la cabeza. Deberían avisarlo con antelación para poder cambiar de habitación.

Fantástico trato en instalaciones mejorables

Hotel muy bien situado y con aparcamiento cercano, nos fue facil en estas fechas enconttar aparcamiento en ls calle a pesar de ser sabado. Instalaciones buenas aunque necesitadas de actualización y alguna mejora. El servicio de comedor en el desayuno, oferta bufett, sobrecargado de clientes y a pesar de la buena actitud de los camareros muy lento y sin espacio teniendo que esperar. La recepcion muy atenta y facilitando la entrada y salida. A destacar su amabilidad.

La primera noche ruido tremendo que no so podía dormí ,aparte de las 2 arañas encontrada ropero,cuarto de baño .cambio de habitación a mejor ningún detalle x parte de dirección sobre las molestias de la primera noche ,x no hablar de las diferencias de precios que había las botellas de agua chica que había 1 día para otro ,siendo como soy no pedir hoja de reclamaciones.y como puede ser que 2 tónicas vale más cara que un desayuno tostada entera de jamón con tomate y crosan con 2 café con lech .ACOJONANTE .

La estancia fue bien, el hotel es encantador, un poco viejuno y dejado. A los muebles y las puertas les falta una capa de barniz urgente. Nuestra habitación era pequeña, la cama enana y estaba sucia, había pelusones debajo de la cama y pelos en la bañera. El personal muy agradable.

Amabilidad y limpieza

El personal del hotel fue muy amable con nosotros en todo momento. La habitación y el cuarto de baño eran muy amplios y cómodos, y estaban en perfecto estado de limpieza. La habitación era muy bonita. Además hay un parking en la misma calle que ofrece descuento a los huéspedes del hotel.

Algo antiguo, bajaría el precio

El hotel es algo viejo, las camas y las almohadas no son muy cómodas y el mobiliario es un poco viejo. No me importa a veces hospedarme en un sitio así, para dormir está bien, pero normalmente el precio suele ser mas bajo. 63€ la habitación me pareció un poco cara, para una habitación así no habría pagado mas de 49-50€. Se oye todo lo que pasa en el pasillo, parece que estás fuera. No había pastilla de jabón o botes de gel, para lavar las manos había que coger jabón del dispensador de la bañera.

Nuestra experiencia en el hotel ha sido decepcionante. Mientras que la limpieza y la amabilidad del personal son excelentes (con la gran ventaja de estar ubicado en el centro, junto al monasterio), las habitaciones dejan mucho que desear: el mobiliario es muy antiguo y está mal distribuido, haciendo de una habitación grande, un espacio pequeño y desorganizado. Por otra parte, nuestra habitación daba a una calle en la que había una discoteca/bar, y por las noches se escuchaba muchísimo alboroto ya que las ventanas eran muy antiguas y se filtraba todo el ruido. No había cortinas, por lo que a primera hora de la mañana había muchísima luz en la habitación y no se podía dormir. Mi experiencia en el hotel ha dejado mucho que desear.

Al hacer el checkin no nos mencionan que para disponer del mando de la tele hay que abonar un \"pequeño suplemento\". Habitación muy oscura y sin posibilidad de abrir la persiana. Menos mal que llegamos solamente a dormir e irnos al despertar.

The building looks fine in general but I had to change room three times in two days. No water in the toilets, no electricity, ... Breakfast was very basic. Lot of noise around late and early. Could not find the payment information at check out. The staff does not look professional.
