Fairly easy to find. 15min down hill walk from beautiful beach area, shops and restaurants. Convenient bus stop location- easy to get to Old Town. Good wifi. The beds were not very comfortable and could upgrade pillows as well. Tv very small and tucked away behind closet. Could also upgraded towels. Ants all over floor. Nice to have a small pool on location. 5 min car ride to ferry.

Our stay was excellent. View from the appartment 3 was amazing! Location good, comfy beds and the appartment was clean.
There was no soap in the bathroom nor hair dryer. We didn't get an answer via text message from the owner.

Location was perfect for restaurants, bars and amenities with easy transport and plenty of shops. The pool and outside area was well kept and had a great view. The accommodation was very average and dated, and the cooking facilities were very poor and limited. I think it needs some updating but not too bad value for money. Also found the owner somewhat rude and abrupt.

Amazing view and very affordable, limited amenities but you get what you pay for. Overall very pleased with the place, the balconies are the highlight and apartment perfectly clean. Although you may need to buy extra stuff for the kitchen overall great place to stay, beautiful views and 5 mins away from bus that goes to the old town (or half hour walk) also near local shops and restaurants.

Unbelievable. The reality of this so called hotel don’t match the description at all. The manager/Owner is a scammer. First of all, this is not a hotel. It’s an old run down apartment. Very misleading descriptions.

There is no front desk, no airport shuttles, no daily housekeeping as described on the main amenities. There were ants everywhere as soon as we walked into the apartment. Air conditioning is only allowed to turn on when you’re inside the room. If you keep AC on when you’re not in the room, you will be charged 10 Euro per day. Many restrictions were unexpectedly put upon the guess to stay there.
No hair dryer in the room. One hairdryer is shared among all the guests in the apartment. No toilet papers in the room. You have to buy your own toilet papers from a Convenience stores or supermarket. Wi-Fi very poor signal. Bedsheet was very worn out and barely wrap around the mattress. The bedsheet looks like used by a homeless. The room was not cleaned at all. We found hair and dust everywhere on the floor and inside the drawers. Very disgusting. When we complaint to the Owner, he came in and kicked the hair & thick dusts to a corner & under the bed.

That place was so filthy & unbearable to stay that we decided to call Hotel.com to file a complaint to cancel our stay & then to look for another hotel to stay for the 5 days in Dubrovnik.

The view is fabulous if you chose one of the marina facing rooms.
Access from the road above is down a flight of around 30 plus steps. Access to the waterfront is down another 150 steps.
A price that you accept for a fabulous view.

Exactly what it says on the tin.

The villa was very nice, and the apartment had everuthing in it that was promised. Djuro was very quick and clear yo communicate with, and was very helpful for the duration of my trip. The villa is in a lovely location very close to a small supermarket and the best local beach.
I did ask about airport shuttles as it said on the hotel listing that they were offered by the villa, but unfortunately that was not the case.
The wifi did not work for the duration of my stay.
The aircon was fantastic, and kept the room nice and cool once it got to temperature. I was quite unhappy that there was a 10 euro per day charge for the aircon if you left it on during the day. This meant that every day i came back to a hot room which i then had to wait to cool down again.
The fridge-freezer was fantastic, the freezer section could freeze 4 1.5l water bottles overnight for me to keep cool during the day.
There were no bedside lamps, so you have to use a phone torch to get around at night.
I would recommend taking an extension cord, as there were not many plug sockets.
Overall, a lovely villa. Exactly what it says on the tin.

Convenient location in Dubrovnik

Nice small apartment building with pool in Lapad close to the marina and several beaches. Apartment was basic but clean and comfortable with a great views of the marina from the balcony. Hosts were helpful and friendly.

The owner of the property claimed we didnt have a reservation, and was not in site to let us in.

The shower in particular is awful the curtain rod slips off the uneven walls with ease, and the curtain itself is too short. The design of the apartment is embarrassingly bad, considering how new the house is.

Nice view. Nice pool. Room is simpler. Access is by stairs.
Parking in the street.
Cleaning is the negative part. In 3 days no room service.
But would stay again. Convenient location. And the view surpasses all small issues.

Good, quiet location - 8 minutes walk downhill to bus to Old Town, 15 minutes walk to beaches, cafes, restaurants etc. Fabulous views from top floor apartment (No 7) overlooking Port. Lovely pool. Booked taxi transfers helpful.
Bedside lights, lower mirrors & more plug sockets would be helpful!

This villa is set in a ideal location if you are looking for somewhere out if the old town. Bus stop is a few minutes walk and there are lots of places to eat and drink near by. Stunning views from the balcony. Property could do with a few small updates. Would I recommend this property definitely yes. Would I go back to this property definitely yes.

Compared to some UK hotels, you may think the decor is dated. I feel this adds to its charm and authenticity.
The owner Djugo is very welcoming and always happy to help with any questions.
Our balcony extended around two sides, with views over the pool and the port of Gruz. You could only access it via the master bedroom and it could be locked, which is a bonus for families with younger children. Those with older children can watch them in the pool from the balcony.
Loved the pool. Weather was changeable this time, so didnt get to use it as much.
Stunnng views, but like many properties in the area, it is on a hill. Those with mobility issues would not cope.
This was our 2nd stay here and we feel it is good value for money, both for couples and families.

Very nice welcolm, views from the two balconies are spectacular, the property is up a hill with no transport, would be suitable for someone with a car or quite fit, my 84 year old mother managed the hill but it was quite a challenge .
We had a problem with tiny ants, we had to throw away bread and biscuits.
The apartment was very nice but basic, there is s lovely pool.
The mini market is at the bottom of the hill, and the bus.
The shower curtain needs to be thicker, every time I had a shower,the floor got soaked.
There was no kettle, but they got us one, no problem also no hairdryer, we had our own, so didn’t ask.
The apartment had two bedrooms and two belconies.
All the mirrors were too high for us to use .
We did have a nice holiday and if it weren’t for the hill I would stay here again .

Incredible views and fantastic staff

Small studio plus 1 brm unit...converted to not exactly 2 brm with bef in living area.fairly compact living area inc very small table and 4 chairs. So not big... works better as a 1 brm studio. That said ownets are very kind and helpful. Garden is lovely and a superb pool for guests at this price is wonderful. Views from 2nd and 1st floor apartments are breathtaking 180 vista of the new port and hillside ...stunning. good bet for a lovely home stay. Furnishings and decor is average.

Walking distance to cafes and the beach. Just a number six bus from the old city, which was close by. TV was old and could do with replacing.
We loved the view and watching the boats on the harbour.

Very small apartment so rather cramped. All essentials there though, comfy bed, shower, microwave & gas hob, sink. No hairdryer. Only small mirror in bathroom but full length on landing. Pool small but OK. Only a few plastic loungers & no mattresses, not a place to linger. There is a shady area under a vine.

Okay stay in this hotel

What works for this hotel is its beautiful views and cleanliness but there were a few disappointments. My parents were given a room in the back and so the balcony was on the side contrary to what the reservation said. and the double bed happened to be two single beds.Overall we were to visit so not much of a big deal but not quite what we expected. Also if you are coming with a car the parking is extremely difficult and we happened to stay up until 1AM one day looking for parking. the street leading to the apartment is narrow and allow only tight parking on one side of the road. At night the road is jammed with cars and no place to park. We had to go all the way down every night to find paid parking in the city. Very inconvenient and deceiving unfortunately.We were already so tired from sight seeing. We just didn't need another adventure late at night. We were on a road trip for two weeks in Croatia with our two children and that was the least favorite stay.

Amazing views and pool area!

Amazing views from the balcony. Pool area has 6 sunloungers and was always empty when we were there: it's so nice having a pool all to yourself. The actual apartment is very basic and the bathroom is extremely small. You have to ask for a hairdryer. The owner was very pleasant: I had to get him to fix the safe and the tv, but he did it quickly. No one is there when you arrive to check you in though. You have to get your key from a security box and fend for yourself. About a 10minute walk to the centre of Lapad and the beach (although I just used the pool instead). Nearest supermarket is at the top of the stairs then down a very long hill - a bit of a pain to walk back up it with supplies! The no.6 bus takes you to old town; it takes about 10 minutes but the buses are always really cramped. Catch it by the post office so that you don't have to walk up the massively steep staircase, which is a killer! Overall, a lovely location with amazing views and good value for money for Dubrovnik.

Great for a peaceful holiday

We stayed at the villa for 8 nights. Our host was very friendly and knowledge of the area. He managed to answer all our questions and also organised our airport transfers. We loved the view from the balcony in flat 2 on the middle floor. You can see the port and all the cruise ships coming and going. The port is only 10 min walk around the bay and all major boat trips stop there, including the ferry. The top floor apartment 4 (which we upgraded to after a couple of days for free) is very spacious with a lovely double bed, but you will need the air conditioning on all the time while you are inside. The bathroom there is tiny though, compared to the downstairs one. The villa is also within easy reach of the promenade, supermarkets, beach, buses, etc. Highly recommended for a peaceful holiday away from the busy Old Town.

3 good reasons to stay at villa Valjalo

We had a most enjoyable 6 night stay at Villa Valjalo. 3 good reasons for that were, a great view of Gruz port from our suite balcony, the use of the pool was most welcome and we thought the location was excellent. It is walking distance to Lapad beach shops and restaurants. Gruz port and Babin Kuk are within walking distance and Dubrovnik old town is easy to get to on the No 6 bus. Catching it at Lapad post office is the best stop as you can avoid the steps, useful to know if you have heavy bags or luggage. The owner will provide easy to follow direction from the bus stop if you email him prior to arrival. The villa is on a hill as are most places inbut Dubrovnik.
The apartment was very clean and comfortable but not very big but that did not spoil our stay. We found the owner Djuro to be a pleasant and helpful person. We would go back to stay there again. Note if you want to pay with a credit card there is an extra 3% charge.

Perfect location, friendly staff

With great views, a decent pool and Mr Valjalo being a helpful and friendly man, i could not recommend enough. The shower is the only critisism but maybe that was only our room. We will return to Dubrovnik and this is definatly where we will stay again.

Great Location, but can find better places to stay

The ad has many things wrong, there is no bath or rainfall shower head, it was a handheld shower head that had no holder on the wall for it. The bathroom window faced out to the stairs for the building, at shoulder level. There was no curtain but the outside of the window had a concrete \"Feature\" over it that made the window into a sheet full of holes. Very old CRT TV's with about 3 channels that work, but you can't have the aircon on at the same time (there aren't enough power points for that). Walls where a little dirty, usual scuff marks etc. No hairdryer and the \"included toiletries\" was hand wash at the sink and 2 toilet rolls. It does have a nice pool area and is in a great location with pretty good views of the harbour. Wifi works most of the time, drops out or slows down to a crawl a few times a day. Keep a close eye on the owner as he is a bit shady, he charged a 100 euro room deposit and the bill in cash only payment. When he tried to give me the deposit back it was 100 kuna!! He quickly went and changed it to the correct amount when I pointed it out and showed him the receipt. He was always out when he said he would be in and available. Had to find him down at a cafe the morning we where leaving for our room deposit refund. Currently looking into a charge to our credit card for \"lodging\" in Croatia at the same amount the room was to which we paid cash for......

pool is the only advantage

we could hear everything going on outside the room. the bathroom would flood everytime one of us took a shower.its quite far away from the main street and the walk back is up a steep hill. overall an expensive place that isnt really worth it.

Reasonable value for money

The rooms were OK, but needed some care lavishing on them to bring them up to scratch, ie the shower head did not fasten to the wall, so you had to hold it while you were showering, and we had to ask for bowls to have breakfast sereals in. On the plus sude, the room was spacious and clean, with a balcony that had a view, and there was a reasonable swimming pool with an area to sit, and sunbeds. The owners daughter was there looking after the place, and she was friendly and helpful. On the minus side, it's not easy to get to. You either climb many steps, or walk along paths with no footwat. (A kind of alley, but thats how Croatia is). Right at the bottom of the steps, overlooking the harbour is a fairly good restaurant with a roof terrace, reasonable prices, and friendly staff.

Great view

We enjoyed our stay at Villa Valjalo. The room was simple but had everything we needed. The views from the balcony were amazing. It was a short walk to several nice restaurants and a small supermarket. Perhaps a little difficult to find on your first visit, as it is in a quiet residential street. Our only complaints would be the size of the bathroom - you had to stand in the shower to close the door! Also the WiFi was not working during our visit and may not have been for some time. We would stay again.

Great budget hotel

Great location with superb view of port but expect lots of steps to reach from quayside. Top road entrance ideal and easy to reach shops, restaurants, beaches and no 6 bus running every 10 mins to dubrovnik old town easily with late night service. Djuro friendly host and helpful with enquiries. Nice to have pool. Accom good for price but kitchen items basic and beds a bit hard, although comfy enough. Wifi probs but djuro trying to get fixed. Overall, very good value for money, no complaints over 3 night stay and would return for short break. Area is great, safe, friendly and all amenities locally with easy access to old town and other attractions of dubrovnik area. Recommend airport bus to Pile gate old town, 35 kruna and then taxi to hotel 70 kruna. Taxi from airport is 270 kruna. Thereafter, use local buses, 12 kruna per trip.

Just an average accommodation. If I knew there would be so many steps to get to this pension, I would never arrive. The only way how to get to this place was a taxi. The ceiling fan was not possible to switch off. The bed linen was polyester, no cotton sheets and no blanket at all. It was expensive for all it had to offer. The best think was the view across the port.

Great value for money

We spent 3 nights here in June and I was really impressed. The apartments are easy to find. We arrived at the airport and tourist information told us to catch bus 6 from town. We had the apartments saved on google maps so just followed it and got off 5 mins from them. It was up quite a lot of stairs especially with bags but once we arrived the owner told us we could have got off a few stops later and there was no steps. Both stops are only 5 mins away and the buses run very frequently. The surrounding area is great, supermarkets and a whole strip of restaurants and bars which are much cheaper than the old town. It's still only a 10 min bus ride from town and only a 10 min walk from a small beach. The owner was great and gave us a map and circled everything for us.

The apartment itself was a bit outdated, and with much of Europe the beds were 2 singles pushed together. But in saying that, it had a fairly well equipped kitchen and a great fridge. We also had a decent sized balcony with small table and chairs with an awesome view of the port.

The apartment grounds are nice and the pool is by far the best part. So nice after a hot day of sightseeing to come back for a quick dip.

After spending time in the old town I was really glad we stayed in lapad. We had everything we needed at the apartment and still close enough to get to the old town whenever we wanted. Value for money I think

This hotel is up a few stairs.... however, if you get the bus to Lapad, the hotel can be easily found and only a few steps down are required.

The view over the harbour was fantastic. The hotel manager / owner was very helpful.

I would definitely stay here again if visiting Dubrovnik.

Amazing sea-view and clean room

Good hotel with very clean room, pretty comfortable - all kitchenware are in place including microwave oven. TV has 800 channels, but only some of they are unlocked. And awesome, amazing sea-view from balcony. Free and fast Wi-Fi but connection isn't stable everywhere is the room. Very cheerful management.

Getting to Villa Valjalo

Very good but directions might help other travellers. The property is on Uz Giman. This is a set of steps going down the side of a hill. You can't drive to the front door. The approach is via a road called \"Dalmatinska\". Cars have to be left on this road.

When we got there,we were a bit shocked by the mess surrounding the appartment ( a bit of building site debris). The owner was not unfriendly but not welcoming either. It was very difficult to find as we arrived by car and it was up a stair passage tucked away rather than a road. The owner said his card machine was not working and demanded cash that day, as we had to vacate the appartment by 9am! He also said that he did not give receipts but we demanded one. Having to leave so early and pay cash was inconvenient as we had just arrived from Mostar and had no local currency. Also, the nearest cash machine was a good mile away! It meant that we had to come back from our outing in the old town (4 kms) away in order to pay him. When we left, we had to leave the key in the door, there was no thank you and goodbye or anything. The villa itself was lovely with great views but the whole experience made us feel that it was an \"under the counter\" operation. Also, he had given our room to someone else and we had to be housed in an annexe and therefore,not near the pool! After the amazing welcome all over Bosnia & Herzegovina, it was very disappointing!

Det var problem när vi skulle checka in men det löste sig snabbt. Städningen kunde ha varit bättre och det hade varit skönt om ACn fungerade under vår vistelse men det gjorde den inte även fast en reparatör kom dit men vi fick iaf en extra fläkt. Utsikten från balkongen var underbar och i området fanns det många restauranger inom 10-15 min gångavstånd, livsmedelsbutik låg ca 5 min ifrån. Till stranden tog det ca15 min så läget var super bra och lugnt å skönt. Poolen var perfekt!

Muuten ihan hyvä mutta vaikea saapua koska on korkealla ja paljon rappusia. Omalla autolla ei kannata edes haaveilla saapua koska ei ole parkkipaikkaa. Lähimmät kaupat myös suht kaukana. Myös miinus oli että 7 yön lomaa varten oli annettu vain 1.5 rullaa vessapaperia.
Maisema oli hyvä ja oli hyvä koska oli rauhallinen paikka.

Je ne conseillerai pas cet endroit.

Belle vue. Idéalement situé. Pour le reste cela laisse à désirer...confort rudimentaire, juste le strict minimum en terme de meuble, ustensile de cuisine et salle de bain horrible. (Pas de table de chevet, drap et serviettes de toilettes usés et a minima, miroir de sdb trop haut...) Maison tres mal insonorisée on entend les voisins entrer et sortir, parler..

Spacious apartment with air conditioning and impressive sea views. The wifi was free but it didn't work properly. Only half of The trip. The apartment itself was clean and just perfect for two person. At the balcony was great views to harbour. The owner was very kind and nice to us. Easy to catch a bus for Dubrovnik old City! I would recommend this apartment espesially then when the wifi works properly!
