I do not recommend this hotel. Do not be fooled by the charming photo of the old house. Yes, it's part of the hotel, but most of the place could never be described as charming.

The manager wasn’t happy that we had been held up in traffic and even though we phone to say we were late, we received an icy reception. The room was large but felt like we were staying in a store room. A mismatch of furniture and uncomfortable bed and couch were a feature. Luckily they left fly spray so we could deal with the blow flys. Bathroom fittings were sparse and heater light didn’t work.
There are other accommodation in Ballarat that would be a better option.

The staff were lovely upon checking in and out and the room for the most part was good. Great heating with the split system.
The only thing I would note is that the bathroom (shower/bath area) probably needs a bit of a renovation. Definite signs of water damage especially with the floor between the two. Vanity and toilet side were fine though. Also, as someone from a different part of the state I struggled with the chlorine levels in the water as they are much higher than my area. Eyes were stinging like I’d gotten out of a pool when showering. This isn’t the accommodations fault but it’s worth noting.

All in all my stay was good but definite room for improvement

I have stayed at Seymours on many occasions. The on-site manager is always very welcoming, efficient and helpful. The room I stayed in on this occasion (as with past rooms on past occasions) was spacious, clean and very well resourced.
I will happily stay again at Seymours in Ballarat when I am next in town.

There was a watermark on the ceiling. The bathroom grout at the base was dirty/ moldy. There was a lot of masking tape in places around the bathroom and the shower door didn't close properly. There was a lot of obvious repairs to the bathroom tiles with visible wall plugs The entrance door needed to be pulled shut. The netting curtains on one window fell down when the main curtains was pulled open. The TV in the bedroom didn't work (didn't have time during office hours to tell the manager)
Other than the bathroom and ceiling the room was clean and beds comfortable. Would rate it 3 stars.

Excellent location, walking distance to the city centre. The room was comfortable but needs updating Beds were comfortable, except the pillows were a bit flat and no extra ones were in the room, not a big deal in the whole skeem of things. Value for money though. It does need a good make over but you get what you pay for. I would stay there again.

The rooms were meant to have soundproofing but the people staying above us sounded like they were jumping on the floor until late at night and then again early in the morning, making sleeping difficult, parking was great and checkin instructions were great and the room was clean, bed was hard and uncomfortable. It was easily accessible to the things we needed in Ballarat.

It was a nice clean place, with a large space. I only had two concerns:
On one of the wooden rails of the stairs wood is being rotted away underneath the paint, leading into the railing to move under my hand.
Some of the metal covers was missing in the spa bath.

Check in was easy, parking was okay, would be a challenge if we had a larger vehicle. Reception was helpful. Stairs to unit are quite steep, especially when trying to drag a suitcase up them. Rooms are absolutely huge and the couch and bed was super comfortable. The mini bar was useful and place was nice and close to amenities, would definately stay here again.

My partner and I enjoyed our 2 night stay. We were in town for the footy and this place was so close to the stadium. We also loved that it is literally next door to a pub, super convenient.
The place itself was ok. A little outdated but nice enough. The room was large, bed was ok. Great to have a kitchen at hand with the little things like a toaster and fridge/freezer being really handy.
We had a spa bath and it was lovely, definitely best part about the room. The shower was good, though a bit grotty and leaked water.
Big thing was I had to rewash the plates, cups and cutlery as they weren't thoroughly cleaned.
I would stay here again, and do recommend it.

If you’re interested in a “bed to sleep in” Seymours on Lydiard will fulfil the brief; however, if you’re looking for a clean and inviting room, you’ll be disappointed. The room I stayed in was very dirty, with finger prints present on numerous walls, stains on the carpet, fluff and dirt where furniture had not been moved to vacuum, copious amounts of dust, food crumbs in cupboards and food stuck on kitchen cupboard handles, food stuck on surfaces behind the rubbish bin and should I wish to have cleaned myself, a dirty and used kitchen sponge (which you’d expect to have been changed for each customer). In the bathroom, there was rotten and mouldy crevices in the shower, which also leaked onto the floor and appeared to have been siliconed, rather than replaced, multiple times. The purpose for my stay was to recover from a medical procedure and this is not the environment I would have stayed in, knowing what I know now. As a local Ballarat resident, this is a disappointing venue for visitors to our city. When raising concerns, staff neglected to respond or address these matters.

The room was terrible and needs to be completely refurbished and renovated. It was the absolute low point of some regional travel we made in April 2024.

1.The place was generally quite dirty and dusty.
2.The shower door did not close properly and was very dirty at the bottom of the door/shower. And it leaked along the back wall. The water disappeared into the floor and there is water damage showing on the roof of the car port below.
3.The spa door is held shut with black tape.
4.Inadequate cutlery is supplied e.g. one teaspoon and the draw is dirty.
5.The blind on the window between the bedroom and the bathroom is broken.
6.Curtin cords are hanging together with a thread.
7.The microwave does not have all its legs and is sitting on a piece of dirty foam.
8.There was a plastic blue cover on the couch and cushion which made the place feel like a crime scene. It was absolutely horrible.
9.The WiFi just did not work.
10.There are no power points near the desk or table.
11.The table had a horrible brown mark on it.
12.The bedside table was all marked making it look dirty and there is only one bedside table.
13.There was a lot of noise from the hotel on Saturday night making it difficult to sleep.
14.And even the Don't Not Disturb sign was held together with sticky tape.
Hotel management did not respond to concerns made directly to them.
Do yourself a favour a stay somewhere else.

I have stayed at Seymours on multiple occasions.
The personnel are wonderful to deal with, very helpful and obliging.
The rooms are very spacious, extremely clean and well resourced. The room I routinely stay in has a spa and which is splendid. There are full cooking facilities in the room(s) that I have stayed in, parking on site and sleep quality is really good given that the location of Seymours is quiet.
The property is close to transport, eateries, shopping and all else that Ballarat has to offer.
I will happily return to Seymours when I am next in Ballarat.

Avoid Seymours on Lydiard! Absolute waste of money and poorly run establishment.

We left the 5 bedroom house after one night, even though we booked for a longer stay. Not sure what was worse - the property (being in a very poor condition), or the service (being dismissive and nonchalant, even admitting to several faults pointed out - clearly knowing the issues but did not fix them).

1. Property condition - Photos displayed are from years past, showing a much better condition (the manager admitted \"these photos were from a few years ago, but everything you see in the pictures are still there\". Technically true, but the same could be said of Pompeii).

2. Noise - Everything in the house creaks and squeaks when used. The floorboards, door hinges, door knobs, bunk bed. Every step upstairs can be heard in each bedroom. (I was told \"it's you yourselves who's making the noise by walking around.\" My bad, I didn't realise we were meant to not walk!)

Being on a main road, the noise from the roads was bad too (someone was racing and doing burnouts the night we were there so safety was a concern too).

3. Broken parts - Blinds don't extend all the way down, downstairs bedroom sliding doors don't slide (I was told \"one side works\", as if I should be grateful for this.)

Spoke early the next morning to the reception/manager who offered to oil the hinges and \"we fix what we can, but you're not living in your house here... You can move out if you want\". Enough said, we did just that.

Love the stay at Seymour's. The accommodation is close to two great cafes, walkable into the town centre, but it is far enougj to avoid the noise of the traffic. The room is spotless and has all the comforts of home. The room is also fairly spacious. The check in and check out is made so simple. The host are lovely. Definitely will stay there again when i head to Ballarat next.

The unit I was in was spacious, very clean, neat and tidy. It had a wonderful spa bath. There were very ample cooking facilities, a comfy sofa and dining area and very comfortable double bed. Like most places it could do with new inclusions however the COVID crisis has negated this for most places, I would imagine. The biggest asset for the place is the lovely lady who was on reception (? the owner or manager). Very helpful, polite and accommodating. Thank you.
