The hotel is in a great location downtown. The room was basic, but very clean. There isn't a tv or fridge, but ice is available on the second floor. We went to Trailside on the ground level to watch a couple of great bands perform. The hotel doesn't have parking, but we found street parking a block away, and it's free on weekends. All in all, a great bang for our buck.

I love that it had built in trail side entertainment excellent food at the restaurant and a really nice size lounge.... the rooms are quite small with a glass bathroom, I did like the choice between the overhead shower vs the regular showerhead, I think the room should come with a fridge stock not as an additional, and the room desk was also quite small too but i guess it fits the room. The lounge made up for the lack of room space so i can set up and get work done. Staff was incredibly friendly and always helpful.

It was a bit complicated to make the reservation directly with the hotel but much simpler and cheaper through Expedia. The bedding was dirty but once advised the staff changed it right away. The staff was very friendly and helpful except the first point of contact made directly, she was pushing the more expensive room to the point that she told me the rate I had was no longer available but I found it and rebooked via Expedia at a lower rate that she offered me. The bathroom was very clean. The hotel is in the middle of downtown so close to everything and we loved that. We were there on the weekend, Saturday was noisy, because we were in the entertainment quarters but we were aware of that already. Sunday was very quiet. They have a lounge that’s very comfortable and has a TV . Rooms are very small made to sleep only. That didn’t bother us at all because we were touring PEI all our stay. All in all it’s a good hotel to spend couple of days and do recommend just be aware of the services and location not to be surprised once in site.

Wow, this was surprisingly wonderful! The price is unbeatable for the value. The staff were amazing, the room was comfortable and super clean. Loved the decor. It’s a “minimalist” stay ~ no TV, no phone, no closet, no kitchenette appliances, etc. Didn’t miss any of the “things”! It’s within walking distance to all downtown Charlottetown attractions. The hotel has a restaurant/cafe connected to the lobby, which was also fabulous ~ Good food and service personnel. I would stay here again anytime!

This hotel was very neat. From the modern rooms to the movie theatre downstairs, it was a really fun and different experience from what we’re used to. The restaurant and bar attached is super convenient. If you love live bands on site this place is for you. If you’re looking for a quiet escape this probably isn’t it 😂

Arts hotel? I don’t think so. This place is the worst!!!

TLDR: Thin walls, 2am club music next door, coffee ripoff, zero artistic vibe (beige walls, no furniture, no coffee, no fridge, one desk, one lamp, and NO art!).

They have coffee in the ‘common room’, which is a machine you have to tap your card to pay. Coffee $1.50. When I tapped my card I got charged $3. I asked the hotel staff and they said it was a pre-auth debit. For coffee? OK, whatever. The next morning I got a coffee, same thing. I checked my bank the next day and was charged $3 each time! What a sham!!!

Super loud music from the arcade next door rattling the windows UNTIL 2am! Not to mention the Live entertainment blasting up from the main floor until 11pm (and I was on the 4th floor!).
There were 30-40 drunk teenagers hanging out front of the Arcade, which is just next door to the hotel entrance.

Spotlessly clean and ideally located in the center of downtown.

Good king size bed and quality bedsheets and pillows. Mattress could be given a 180 turn.

But understand that is spartan, 'European' style, with no carpeting, no appliances, etc. It's basic to a B.

Bathroom is *spotless* and modern, but the shower handle unit needs instructions as there are two things to turn and they don't have markings, and there is both the the wall spout and the ceiling shower that run on the same handle, with the temperature on a small dial-handle that is pretty stiff to turn. It's not disabled friendly either.

Last, it is above a tavern with live music, so at the back, where I was, you can hear the thump of the bass until 12am on Friday and Saturday nights. If you want to avoid that, ask for a room better located vs. the sound. Also, the dumpster was taken out at 5:30am this morning, and I could well have lived without that crashing me awake.

But clean, convenient, and with a comfy bed.

We stayed at The Arts Hotel in Charlottetown Oct 4th and, while the rooms were clean, we were surprised to find there was no TV, no fridge, no phones, etc —basically nothing in the room besides the basics. It was fine for a short stay, but very minimal.

What really bothered us was the lounge area. On the morning of October 4th, there were men sleeping in there with clothes and belongings sprawled everywhere. It was honestly uncomfortable and unwelcoming — we couldn’t even grab a coffee. We mentioned it to the front desk, and the staff just said, “Yeah, we’re aware,” which didn’t feel very reassuring. Glad my boyfriend was with me during this stay.

The location is great, and the ladies at the front check in on Oct 3 were so accommodating and friendly — they even let us check in early, which we appreciated

Amenities in a common room, not your hotel room

There is a bar directly below the back of house rooms, and it is LOUD, so if you want to sleep before 2 am, ask for a room in the front of the hotel. They were very good about moving us. The music was so loud it reverberated in our first room, but when they moved us, we couldn't hear noise.
The other things to know are: the TV, refrigerator and coffee (at a cost) are in a common room. The rooms are newly renovated, but don't have those amenities. The hotel has no parking. We paid 8.75 for a parkade that was a couple of minutes walk away. Staff was very courteous and helpful.

The front desk staff was very friendly. Parking is available in a garage lot right behind the hotel, was about 8 dollars for the night. The room was clean and comfortable, lacking a tv but this is described in the listing. I stayed on a Thursday night. When I booked I got a message from the hotel indicating that they have shows on the main floor that can be noisy in the evenings. I was on the 3rd floor and could very clearly hear the drumming from the venue. However, I was warned about this before my visit and was able to cancel if I so chose, so no foul there.

The Arts Hotel offers a different concept from a typical hotel room. Rooms have minimalist decor and are very small, but well designed. In the bedroom area there is a desk and chair, and a few hooks but no closet. Use the drawers under the bed to stow your suitcase. The bathroom shower door covers just the front of the shower, similar to showers seen in France. This is why there is another drain in the middle of the bathroom floor. The shower shares a wall with the main room. This is a VERY small room, but compared to an overnight cabin on a ferry or a train, there is plenty of space. There is a large common area on the 2nd floor with television, couches, tables, a sink, microwave, toaster, coffee machine and fridge. Behind that room is a laundry room. The active neighborhood has many restaurants and people out enjoying the evening.

One chair so if 2 people 2 suitcases you both are sitting in bed.

It is right by some vlub that was playing insanely loud music all night on a Saturday night. Its also the cheapest hotel in the city, which unfortunately seems to attract people from across the island looking to come into the city to drink and party on the weekend. There was a group of about 8 people in the room across from us drinking and yelling until early in the morning. Avoid on weekends

It definitely is “minimalist”. By the amount of luggage we brought, we are not! Lol
The rooms are basic and a little tight but we weren’t in PEI to stay in our room. It suited our needs. The bed was comfortable. As we were there for 4 nights, it’s important that you fill out the form for the room to be serviced. The hotel was very accessible to restaurants, shops, and an easy jaunt down to the wharf. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again but would pack a little less.

We stayed on a Saturday, so the only downside was the music from the bar below (ponyboat) was so loud and thumping in the room and we were even on the third floor and didnt wnd til 2am. Other than that a nice convenient spot to stay downtown.

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I love that the music hall and movie theatre are attached. I didn’t mind that the rooms came with less amenities though I would have liked a couple more included (e.g. body lotion, kettle). My only issue was the occasional noise. My room was located at the front of the building. The windows are not very soundproof so I heard a lot of noise at times while I was trying to sleep. My room’s door was not very soundproof either and sounds in the hallway also travelled in. I was also located near the elevator so that meant more people going by. The noise might not be N issue depending on where your room is located.

This hotel looks new. Its rooms are modern and clean. HOWEVER, the rooms are also TINY and give new meaning to minimilist. There is no clock, no tv and no phone. If you want a hair dryer, you have to go to reception. If none of that matters to you, it's near all the local attractions.
