Upon arrival we chose to upgrade to the Horizon club executive room. The executive room is situated at the top floor with a breathtaking view of Shanghai city. The breakfast in the lobby was very busy and food did not get replenished quickly enough due to the high volume of guests, unfortunately this resulted in dry cakes, pastries and dumplings. However the manager Cassie demonstrated professional hospitality when resolving our issue with the disappointing breakfast. The club service was minimal to non-existent on the first few days of our stay. (We made our drinks ourselves from the bar, staff were inattentive and relatively unprofessional) We raised this issue to Serena (evening duty manager), She promptly let the team know and the next day the service did improve significantly. We appreciated the efficiency of responding and resolving guests concerns, food and decorations were beautifully presented for the coming festive season. After the issues resolved, we enjoyed a fantastic stay with spectacular views from the club and our room. The afternoon tea was particularly impressive all pieces were delicious, highly recommend.

The Shangri-la Jing’an Shanghai is certainly a great stay for corporate or leisure.

A Perfect Stay at Shangri-La Shanghai — Truly Exceptional Service

From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay at the Shangri-La Shanghai was simply perfect. The room was beautifully maintained and even upgraded upon check-in, offering a stunning view and the highest level of comfort. Housekeeping was incredibly attentive — they refreshed our room twice a day and always made sure everything was spotless.

What touched us the most was the kindness and thoughtfulness of the staff. They went above and beyond to celebrate my birthday, preparing a lovely surprise that made the day unforgettable. Every interaction with the team was warm, professional, and genuine.

My girlfriend and I felt truly cared for throughout our stay — it was one of the happiest times we’ve shared together. I can’t thank the Shangri-La team enough for their exceptional hospitality. This hotel has set a new standard for us, and we’ll definitely return on our next trip to Shanghai.

Thanks for another great stay. We stayed in #5831, which is a wonderful room. However, the toilet seems to have some problems. Also, the TV is blocking a magnificent view of Shanghai. I'm not sure where it could be moved to, but its current position is not great with regards to viewing the scenery.

I love staying at Shangri La Jing An - the location is very convenient and well connected to go anywhere in Shanghai.
Plenty of restaurants and shopping around.

Bad experience at shangri la Jing’an

The whole check in experience is terrible, not a fair queue and everybody try to cut short, and no one can maintain the rule. Bad experience happens again when I check out. Surprisingly they didn’t refund me the balance. That’s quite shocking.

The property had a great gym, great restaurants--the breakfast buffet was a great value even if not included with the room. Most staff were functional in English and those who were not, we were able to use translation software to communicate.

I just wish they had an airport shuttle.

Really a great location, close to subway and premium shopping district. Also walking distance to beautiful former French Concession. Very impressed with the room and facilitiesand public areas. Service also was excellent.

Was less impressed with the buffet breakfast, with limited options and quality. Buffet dinner was pretty empty with good reason - over cooked roasted meats and lack of fresh options. Not recommended. Also lobby toilets, far too small for a big hotel.

But on the whole, very good.

What an amazing hotel right in the heart of high-end shopping and easy subway access. If you want to be close to the Bund, this is not your hotel. That said, the #2 subway (green) is a quick 4 stops (maybe 10 minutes) ride away for about US $0.70 per person. But beware, the subways are very crowded especially around rush hour. Would definitely stay here again. This was recommended by an ex-pat living in Shanghai. There is another Shangri La on the other side of the river that he didn't recommend as highly.

The staff needs formal training in how to deal with guests. The doorman can care less that we couldn't understand how to get a taxi. And they didn't want to help. When I reported this to the manager all he did was nod.
