Ok hotel - no care from staff

The hotel is OK - dated and small bathrooms but OK. They are failed by the total lack of service or care from staff. Arrived solo in the rain, asked for help bringing bags up from the open car park. Despite 2 on reception and a trolley nearby I was told I had to being them inside and then they might help!
During my stay I thought I'd lost something important, I asked 2 people at reception if it had been handed in, both had a quick look around and advised 'no'. Neither asked for my name or room so they could let me know if it turned up later.
First night of my stay the fire alarm went off at 5am. All guests gathered outside - not a hotel employee or even the fire brigade in sight. The reception desk had a phone with instructions to dial 0 for help - it went to voicemail. Of course it was a false alarm - was there any apology or even acknowledgment later from management? No.
The room was not cheap due to it being a busy time in Bantry. If they're going to charge top dollar, how about top dollar equivalent in service!

We had a good stay in the Westlodge. The room was clean and comfortable and the cost for the 2 nights was reasonable. Breakfast had a great choice. We had food in the bar and it was good. The pool was ok, nothing amazing but a nice additional to the hotel.

Perfect hotel for our tour of West Cork

We enjoyed our stay at Westlodge. There are great facilities, pool, steam room, sauna, pitch and putt etc.

We had a triple room which was spacious and very clean. Overall the cleanliness at the hotel was superb. The staff are friendly. We had the added bonus of a singer every evening after dinner.

It is an easy walk along the beautiful bay into Bantry(takes 25mins). Very close to Bantry House.

Very comfortable. Being out of town means eating at the hotel which did get busy but staff were quick and helpful with their service. Not a big deal but if you soend any time in your room dont exoect to watch much tv as channel availability is limited

First night was terrible. Din was poor bland madras ans burger bun was burnt and burger u set cooked. Fan in bathroom would not turn off even with all switches turned off and keycard removed, It kept making a humming noise all night. Could not sleep much at all first noght. Talked to the front desk and was re-allocated a new room for second night. We did not have eat in hotel on 2nd night. Slept good and enjoyed a nice swim in pool before we departed.
Overall an ok stay, would we come back ???

Loved the pool and the fitness room was good. Breakfast in not included and is average okay. Dinner was not good because our chicken was under cooked and boring. There are good restaurants in Bantry. Expect harder beds than the States.
Or at least California.
If you are not a walker this hotel is a little far from the main city center of Bantry. However, there is a walking trail that goes into town through the Sailing Club. Overall, this is a good hotel and we enjoyed our 4 night November stay.

We wanted to go swimming with the kids Sunday morning, as every parent knows kids wake early, but they weren’t allowed in the swimming pool until 10am, most will swim for an average of an hour meaning we had to rush back to our room shower & pack before we had to check out at 12, don’t see why families would be made rush like this, 9am would be much better suited to families staying at hotel & wanting to swim

Worth booking if your in the area

Really nice hotel with an added bonus of a leisure centre, the rooms are well equiped and beds are huge and comfortable.
Would recomend staying here if in the area.
The only drawback is its a bit of a treck into town if you want to walk.

Every staff member we encountered was incredibly kind and cordial. The facilty is absolutely besutiful and the location is super conveniently located close to town centre. The pool area is really cool because you can seim laps, dip in the jacuzzi, or sit in the sauna or steam bath. There are also plenty of local residents with memberships for the gym and pool area who are really friendly and cool to chat with which might have been my favorite part. Oh, and it is family frienfly with a playgtound and other kid stuff.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Westlodge Hotel. The staff were friendly, the facilities were great; swimming pool, tennis court, football pitch, pitch and putt course. The breakfast and food in general was mediocre but that would've deter us from returning to this hotel again.

We did arrive exceptionally early for check-in & room wasn’t ready which was understandable, so we decided to wait in the lobby and enjoy a drink.. the lobby was full of rough clientele in which made me concerned about our belongings.. there was screaming kids banging on the piano and running freely around reception. It was very much irritating as the staff never tried to make the situation or tell the children to stop banging the piano. Staff simply didn’t care and ignored the commotion. Lots of empty rubbish around the main entrance and the lake next to the hotel had dead rats floating in it.. room was comfortable, modern and offered everything we needed. Dinner and breakfast was good.

Excellent stay in a fab hotel. Rooms have been updated and included air con. Swimming pool was very big and had lots of areas so everyone was kept safe during these Covid times. I stayed overnight here before a cycling event. The staff were warm and friendly and accommodated late arrival and early starts providing dinner and breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. My room was very clean and comfortable. I will certainly stay at the WestLodge again.

Lovely stay, leisure centre great, clean and efficient time slots for use. All staff friendly and approachable. Food in restaurant/bar attached to hotel was fab and reasonably priced. Very quiet throughout stay which was a bonus!! Check in was for 4pm which is a little later than id like but understandable as staffing issues for room change overs everywhere. Woupd definitely return. Bantry is within 15min wwalk too and is gorgeous

Overall we (2 adults & 3 boys aged 10,12 & 14) enjoyed our stay & would stay at the Westlodge again. I think a 4 star hotel could leave complimentary bottles of water in the rooms, it's obviously a very small thing but I was surprised especially considering the cost of the stay.

I loved the clean and crispy bed sheets.
The room was smaller then I expected but clean and the chairs in the room comfortable.
The swimming pool was a great experience. We really enjoyed the delicious food and the cocktails in Hannies bistro.
The service in the bistro was excellent, both at the dinners and the breakfasts.
There are two negative thing thing that I would highlight: the wedding gests next door were loud at 4am, banging with doors and yelling in the corridor, after an hour I had to get out of bed and ask them to calm down. I, asked the staff at the reception to help with it, but nothing improved for next half an hour or hour.
The second thing is the banging sound of the closing doors, wich can be disturbing during the nights.
Otherwise the place is extremely quiet during nights and the next night we slept well.

Noisy room, but great location

Nice location, close to town. There was a bit of dirt on my pillows but I'm glad I brought a towel with me to cover it. The showers were not great but it did the job. I wouldn't call it a 4 star hotel. More like a Travelodge of some sort. It was alright. It was super noisy along the hallways. We could hear next door in the bathroom and the cleaners barged in to our room really early in the morning. So that was a bit annoying.

Restaurant was really poor. A bad meal from start to finish. At a time when there were nearly as many staff as there were patrons, it was really disappointing.

Lukewarm soup, hardly cooked chicken wings, tasteless fish and chips, burned apple pie just to name a few things that were wrong about it.

i did 2 days of travel to get here and on the off chance they let me check in 3 hours early! Also missed the food cut off in the restaurant but the chef stayed and made us food yet. Cannot find a better place to stay. Staff super friendly. Would recommend this to anyone travelling to Bantry.

Not a bad place if there's no party going on.

The location was very good in that we were attending a concert at Bantry House- however, when we returned we discovered a very loud band and teenager thing happening just out side our window (it was 1:00 AM). We called the desk and were told that it would go on until 2:00 AM. We asked how we were supposed to sleep and how they could justify the price of the room given the chaos just outside and were told that the manager would call back (which never happened). The noise tapered off just before 2:00 (it seems the management closed off the outdoor smoking area after our call). The next morning the manager met with us, apologized and comped our breakfast. All in all we were satisfied that they tried to make it right, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Hotel and surroundings are lovely. 20 minutes walk from the village. Check in and check out was efficient. We were allowed to check in early.. bar food was good and breakfast great.. We didn''t eat in the restaurant.

Small things: Entertainment in the bar is weak.
