Sadly we were not offered a warm welcome. We were made to feel we were a big inconvenience. The receptionist was eating a meal and did not want to be disturbed. Apparently she told me she was coming but I thought she was talking to her coworker and didn’t hear her anyway. She told me she was looking straight at me so of course she was addressing me! She told us the manager made her do her receptionist duties even when she was trying to eat a meal. Sadly, a negative start to our stay so we chose not to stay and have drink at the bar for fear of inconveniencing her further and getting told off again. No the welcome we expected at all.

For an Ibis this was poor

Lift not working fortunately we only had to carry our luggage up to the first floor. Limited restaurant, could only cater for 5 tables with a very limited menu.Foam top to mattress made it too warm. No power points in room just 1 in the bathroom.

Perfect stopover with secure parking

Our favourite place to stop when heading into France. Only two hours eurotunnel or ferries at Calais. Secure parking (gated) is the main reason we first stayed and now we appreciate the 24hr front desk when arriving late after travel delays. Our 4th year staying here and the service is always helpful and pleasant. Rooms are always very clean and comfortable. Breakfast has just what you need, eggs and bacon, plus several breads, yogurt and cereals. Petrol and large Cassino supermarket 4 mins away also.

Hotel was clearly under renovation. The room we were allocated still had builder’s equipment in the room. We complained and were given an alternative room. However the bath room looked tired and work was not completed in the bedroom (a loop of wires was hanging from the ceiling and we found a screw lying on the floor by the bed which could have been hazardous for bare feet). On arrival cables were trailing across the reception causing a trip hazard. However the staff were excellent and the food in the evening and at breakfast was good.

Get what you pay for, a bed and bathroom. TV remote didn’t work, bedside light didn’t work, incredibly noisy 24/7 if at front. Adequate overnight stop but would use St Quinten or Arras in future as so much better. Laon is a beautiful medieval city.

Ibis woes

We were given the disabled access room although we did not request it or need it. The door closer on the room door is not set correctly, it should take no effort to open and yet close firmly and quietly. The door was extremely difficult to open and then would slam shut afterwards. The wet room floor has been laid such that the slightest splash outside water outside the 400mm shower square, the water would run away from the shower drain and across the floor. The extractor fan did not extract at all causing the bathroom to steam up badly. As the room was ground floor with the car park outside, opening the window while showering was not an option. The bathroom door is a sliding door which was stiff to move and after opening about 300mm would get stuck. It did not appear that we were given fresh towels every day and those that were provided were thin and hard. No tea and coffee facility was provided in the room. There was no comfortable chair to sit in, only a hard chair and small bench. Not up to the standard of many English hotels which cost less than the Ibis. Restaurant was very good though.

Supper was good value and breakfast was simple but more than adequate. Hotel run by a small team who did their best throughout to make the stay enjoyable.

Great option for a night's stay en route south. Easy to find, late check-in, easy, secure and free parking. Only thing was the AC in the room did not work and with 34 degree weather, we barely slept. Other than that everything was good! Very nice service from the team.

The hotel itself is a little dated but the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the hotel has secure parking. We enjoyed our dinner there too. We stayed one night on our way back from a skiing trip and it suited our needs perfectly.

A fine overnight stop. It was about 15 minutes off the motorway so not as convenient as other ibis hotels we have stayed at in France but 24 hour check in so no worry on delays from the channel crossings.

Food and drink was alright. Not too expensive and quite nice.

The rest of the hotel was a bit tired looking. The room was tiny but clean.

For us it was a late check in and early check out on our way back to dunkirk, so didn't spend long there

We have used this hotel several times while travelling between Lyon and Calais as it is very convenient and secure. This time I was travelling on my own and despite paying for a family room I was given a smaller cramped shabby room, so went back to Reception who changed the room back to a family room. It turns out the hotel was full and my feeling was they thought they could sell that room if I accepted the smaller room.

Average for an Ibis hotel; there are getting to be more that are better than this as these hotels are being updated. The hotel was a bit further from the town centre than expected. The restaurant did not have a very large menu and was expensive - so we did not eat there. Plenty of free parking on site.

Overnight Stop near Autoroute

This Ibis is easily accessed from the A26 AutoRoute and is a useful stop before or after Calais. There are plenty of parking spaces, the staff are friendly and efficient. And you can have a perfectly adequate meal. The rooms are typical Ibis: comfortable and clean, if without frills.

We was put into a disable persons room and the bathroom floor was dirty, complained, and was told the dirt could not be removed because it was a non-slip floor. When we went back into the room I wet a piece of tissue and wiped the floor, the dirt came off instantly. Very disappointed at our first Ibis stay.

Last night in France

The hotel was easy to find from the autoroute (with satnav) and had lots of secure parking.

Charming, helpful staff.

Really excellent breakfast, good choice including excellent apple cake and good range of tasty breads.

We walked up to the city for dinner, steep uphill walk but a pleasure after a day driving to Laon from Alsace. Fine choir concert in the cathedral followed by a good dinner in the Marie square and an easy walk downhill back to the hotel.

MY SAT NAV TOOK ME TO THE CASTLE AT THE TOP OF THE CITY. THIS WAS BECAUSE THE HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE A NUMBER AND MY SAT NAV ALWAYS REQUESTS A NUMBER OF THE STREET SO I SUGGEST YOU TYPE IN IBIS WESTMINSTER WHICH IS THE FULL NAME OF THE HOTEL. .MAKE SURE YOU STAY AT THIS HOTEL AND NOT THE IBIS BUDGET WHICH IS NEXT DOOR AND PRETTY HORRIBLE. IT WAS A PLEASANT OVERNIGHT STOP, WE HAD A SIMPLE PLEASANT TWO COURSE MEAL IN THE RESTAURANT FOR 13 EUROS EACH WHICH WE THOUGHT WAS GOOD VALUE. THE ROOM WAS NICELY DECORATED WITH A PLEASANT BATHROOM BUT I MUST ADD AN EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE BED WHICH CREAKED A LOT. IT TURNED OUT IT WAS MADE OF A SIMPLE METAL FRAME ON WHICH A PIECE OF CHIPBOARD HAD BEEN PLACED WITH A THIN MATTRESS ON TOP OF THAT. IF YOU LIKE AN EXTRA HARD FIRM BED THEN YOU WILL SLEEP VERY WELL. THE TOWELS WERE VERY THIN AND I HAD TROUBLE DRYING MYSELF AFTER THE SHOWER. IN THE BATHROOM BY THE MIRROR THERE WAS NO PLUG AVAILABLE FOR MY WIFE TO USE HER CURLING TONGS, NOR OUTSIDE THE BATHROOM. OVERALL THIS WAS A PLEASANT OVERNIGHT STOP EVEN WITH THESE FEW NIGGLING LITTLE THINGS. LAON IS A NICE CITY WORTH A VISIT.

Standard Ibis Hotel with very poor service

We booked the Ibis knowing the standard to expect. We arrived in the evening at shift change time and the staff were more interested in saying there goodbyes than checking us in. We booked 2 rooms for 4 people with a double and single bed in one to accommodate 2 single people prepared to share a room but where given 2 double rooms. When we queried this they said they were full - and couldn't change - we coped with this. We missed last orders in the restaurant and were advised to go to the local MacDonalds which we reluctantly did. On our return the bar was open but no one staffing it When we went to our rooms we found a room service guide offering hot food 24/7. All in all a pretty poor service.

We've stayed at Ibis Laon about five times now and it gives the impression of being a fairly new addition to the chain. As an en route stopover it's excellent. About 15 minutes from the A26 it's easy to find and has a large fenced free car park. Rooms are usual Ibis, basic but clean and comfortable, and the restaurant isn't bad - which is helpful as we've never found anywhere worth eating in the town. Overall one of the better units of a generally pretty good chain.

Il ne faut absolument pas aller dans cet hôtel.
Les chambres sont à refaire, nous avons clairement dormi dans un placard à balai…
Je touchais le plafond avec mes mains et je ne fais pas 2m10… très peu de place, et une seule prise dans une chambre…
Même pas la place de poser 2 valises cabines
Nous entendons la route comme si nous dormions entre les barrières de sécurité.

Aucune pression dans la douche, à peine de quoi s’essuyer avec les serviettes et le p’tit dej, 10€ pour rien…
