Very close to the fortified city

Great view of medieval city. Our door to the patio would not close and lock unless you slammed it really really hard, and the safe battery was too low for the safe to work so we couldn’t open the safe after we locked it. The reception guy offered us his master key. We only stayed one night so we said it was fine the safe didn’t work. Weird thing was there was no room phone so we had to go down to reception to report the problem.

This hotel exceeded our expectations. The bathroom came with a tub. Bathroom was spacious. The water pressure was amazing. The breakfast was excellent.
The hotel has an amazing view of the citadel. We did not have a room with a view but many rooms have full view of the citadel.
The only minor issue was the room was a little too tight with not much room for our luggage.

Good value for money
My husband and I visited Carcassonne for a couple of days and we chose this hotel with half board. The location is excellent, very clean and convenient. The half board consisted of a decent breakfast and buffet dinner. The room was a bit small but otherwise this was an excellent deal. I highly recommend it to those who don’t want to spend to much while maintaining decent standards.

Spent one night at the hotel to meet up with friends. The hotel is easy to find and we were warmly welcomed. Arrived early so left our luggage in a secure room before going out to explore. Parking is an easy 5 minute walk away The room was very clean and well stocked with shower gel, soap, coffee and tea (no milk) etc. Amazing view of the castle from our balcony.

The good:The hotel is in a central location near to the chateaux, within walking distance of restaurants and most of the sites in Carcassonne. It was clean and modern with a nice looking, but pricey restaurant on site.
The bad: The big negative for me was the shower/tub combination. The tub which is about 18 - 24 inches high is downright dangerous when you combine that with the slippery tile on the tub floor. This is a no/no for seniors and people with mobility issues. In addition, the narrow tub has a glass enclosure on one side which allows water to leak onto the bathroom floor. Lastly, in our room there was one facial tissue in box of tissues in a room that we had just gotten the keys to.

The room was poor it was not as advertised no bedside table as there wasn’t enough room, no table, we obviously paid for a room which was larger but were given something not much more than a cupboard.

The location of this property was perfect for our short stay to explore La Cite. Outstanding view from our balcony up toward the medieval city. We arrived in Carcassonne by train and it was only a short 15 minute walk away to the hotel.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
Whilst the breakfast options were good I did find on all 3 mornings that the mushrooms and scrambled eggs were cold. But that is my only gripe. Would recommend.

We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat.

Room was tired and scuffed especially the bathroom and loo. Breakfast was terrible. Coffee undrinkable, bacon so tough it was impossible to swallow. When I asked for GF bread I was directed to baguette! Then they offered frozen pain de mie. Not good enough quality for the price. View from room was great.

This hotel has the most remarkable view over the walled city. Choose a room with a city view - it's worth the additional cost. When the city and bridge are lit up at night, it's magical. The room was clean and comfortable, room size is typical for France with the tiniest mini-fridge I've ever seen. Front desk was friendly and hotel has a good vibe. Easy walk to walled city, train station and the rest of town.

What a View!!
You come to Carcassonne for one reason...to see the wall city. We walked into our room at the Les Chevaliers, onto our terrace and there it was...laid out on the hilltop before our eyes! What else is there to say. The room was extremely comfortable as was our entire two day stay. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a couple issues initially with our room initially that took a fair bit of waiting around to sort. However, we were eventually given a different room and had a view of the city walls that was very nice. Without the view the stay would have been less special.

They have to relocate us to another room because we saw that the toilet commode was not flushed from waste. It was so disgusting! The room that given to us has no telephone, very few electrical outlets. I’ve to disconnect a pole lamp to use the outlet. Dinner was very good but some of the staff doesn’t speak or understand English. Front desk staff were okay.

This hotel had friendly staff that kindly upgraded our room so my husband and I didn’t have to sleep in twin beds. We ended up with the most spectacular balcony view of the castle and historic bridge, which made for fantastic sunsets. The bed and pillows were by far the most comfortable we’ve had in Europe to date (no sheet rock here). A great stay.

We really enjoyed our stay. This hotel had very friendly and efficient staff, a lovely setting, especially the outdoor area for dining with a lovely view towards the Cite. It also had excellent AC, a big benefit when it’s 35 or so degrees.

Little disappointed in the view from the room. We upgraded and it wasn't cheap yet the direct view was of a wall of the next hotel. We had to go out onto the balcony and stand at an angle to get the view of the castle.

The hotel has an ideal location for exploring the old and new parts of Carcassonne. Staff were always helpful and the breakfast buffet was good (especially eating outside). Panoramic room has an awesome view across the river and was quiet although didn’t come with a balcony (as indicated in the online photos).

Laundromat is close by (for those extended stays like mine). Walk to Castle and nearby restaurants. Great staff,very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts not so good, but that’s all there is,($15 E for cereal) parking is a longer walk, so unload and load at hotel then walk back. Good layover spot.

On the whole it was okay as we were only booked one night. Great views of the castle from the resturant (a tad pricey) over the course of the evening. Food was well presented and tasty but you would think it's hard to get steak and chips wrong. The room was fine apart from an interesting carpet selection, an out of place toilet door handle with no locking mechanism and a hand held shower head that fired off water in all directions. Bedding was clean but the mattress was way to soft for whats considered normal to us... the pillow ended up encompassing my ears which was both good and bad. Didn't hear a thing all night but woke up with a sore neck. Staff service was nice, polite and friendly although Im still awaiting my invoice for the stay, nearly a week later... parking was nerve racking... nothing available onsite (never saw a designated hotel carkpark) so went to a public carpark within close proximity. Well lit and secure (presumabley) as our car still full of gear, was fine overnight. It's locked at 20.00pm and cost €7 overnight which was fine for me. However a really narrow decending entrance to the garage and even narrower 90° turn at the bottom. We have BMW520 so not a small car, and it was touch and go not messing up my wheel rims on the raised curb stones. Just made it, but a wider car has issues as evidenced by black rubber colouring said curb stones. Bit dodgy at night in the park adjacent to the hotel with young adolescents milling about but had no issues.No pool

For 4 Star hotel, im expecting car parking, a small fridge or a kettle in the room but do not have it in there.
The location is good with nice view in the restuarants. the food is good. Overall still not too bad. the service is great too.

The hotel was very clean and pretty easy to find. We parked in the public parking lot about a 5-10 minute walk away. The lot was inexpensive, accessible and safe. Our room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was terrific and we enjoyed the balcony with the view of the castle. Many places are within easy walking distance of this hotel. I only wish the outside terrace for food and drinks had been open. As a bonus, the front desk personnel spoke excellent English.

Location is great; just besides the river bank, you can walk downtowns and the river port or you can cross the stone bridge and get to the Citadel. The rooms are way too generic and don't have any ambiance to them. It feels just a little cheap: considering you are just besides a great medieval city fortress.

Comfortable hotel in a good situation. Quite good if totally self-service breakfast buffet but mediocre machine-delivered coffee. The good comfort of the room was let down by provision of cheap plastic disposable ‘glasses’ in the bathroom - each individually wrapped in plastic - very environmentally unfriendly and not nice to use. Paper coffee beakers in the room also not nice to use. Staff very helpful when approached.

The view is spectacular. Needs more staff. There was a long line at check in because there was only one person working at the front desk. There was no one at the bar so we couldn’t have a drink while we waited. There was nobody around to serve us a glass of wine when we were on the terrace admiring the view. We had to walk back to the bar in reception to get it and then there were no snacks available.

This is an excellent hotel. It’s stylish, contemporary, well run and with a magnificent view of the medieval castle. Breakfast was surprisingly good - a far wider range than is usual in French hotels with a good range of cooked options too. There’s a large outside patio. Highly recommended.

Person at reception said 4 Star means you handle your own luggage. Asked for WiFi login & pw and told it is your name and your surname. Tried after dinner and no combo worked. No one at reception at that time of day. Next morning a different person at re emotion showed how to login and it included email address. Safe was already locked in the room. No hair dryer in the room. Not enough space to open a suitcase.

Super location, set next to the river, looking across at the Cite, but within walking distance of restaurants, shops etc. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was great, with marvelous views. The only limitations were the shower (not great) and the fact that we couldn't get a dinner reservation even though we were guests of the hotel.

Modern hotel in good location for old city
Modern hotel with some rooms having excellent views of the Carcassonne walled city. Public areas are pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast is plentiful and good variety and quality. Our room was big enough but not much storage. Also the only day-light came from the balcony door so even in good sunlight the room had dark corners and was gloomy. The door handle came off, toilet paper was very thin and was a disappointment for the 4 star hotel.

A lovely hotel - very close to the Cite castle with a nice view of it lit up at night. But the room size was extremely small for a 4 star hotel. And there were no openings for the complimentary massage - which was upsetting. Also, the bathroom floor flooded each time we used the shower which should have been fixed beforehand. A real mess.
