I had booked a room with Kyriad Direct at a more or less standard decent 2/3 star rate. When I arrived I found I had been booked in to a top floor room with the next door Premiere Class building which seems to charge about 60% of the type of room I had paid for. The receptionist had no idea how this had happened but with some persuasion gave me a ground floor disabled type room in the main hotel. Although boasting a restaurant, only pizzas were available there so I had to walk to the other Kyriad Hotel only 250 metres away to find a decent meal there

A good budget hotel

A really nice simple hotel on the outskirts of town. Great staff team, and a good buffet breakfast. Easy 2 minute walk to local pub/restaurant and a bistro/grill. A little tired in places on the exterior, but the room was clean and fresh.

Needs better staffing!

Excellent value and ideal location for The 33rd Ciruit Historique de Laon weekend event.
Hotel was full but only had one young lady trying to manage everything each morning. Check-in/ out, refilling buffet breakfast and clearing tables. She did the best she could often running back and forth and should commended. This is a criticism of the management of this hotel NOT the young lady.

As usual , a very good stay . One minor complaint - I requested a specific room ( no 33 ) well in advance of my stay , but it had not been reserved for me I stayed in R 32 instead ( which as it happens was also fine )
I shall request R 32 in a months time , when I do please have it available !! Thank you ( ps your receptionist was very helpful )

Room stank of stale smoke!

We have often stayed here when it was a Campanile travelling to and from Le Shuttle. It was always plain and simple but knew what to expect. However on this occasion the room we were given absolutely stank of stale smoke, it was disgusting. My husband mentioned it to the receptionist but she just shrugged her shoulders. We won't stay there again.

Location was convenient when travelling onwards as it was easily reached from the motorway. Out of town but close to 4 restaurants, 1 of which was in the hotel itself. Bar & restaurant was shut at 6pm. No English speaker & really poor service with a like it or lump it attitude. Room was ok. Bed was comfy but somebody had came up with a scheme where you could not actually get in the bed! Water was cold both at night & 1st thing in morning. No coffee making facilities in room (as advertised). Wifi did not work. Only French channels.

There was nothing to like apart possibly for its location. The hotel was dirty and our room had been poorly serviced- the impression one got was that it was some time since it had been attended to. The rooms to the rear, where we were located, were shaded and so chilly that we had to run the heater all night.

We would not stay there again.

We requested a twin and a double but were given two doubles. However, when we pointed this out to reception, it was sorted very quickly for us.
The hotel is quite basic and a little ‘tired’ but was clean and did all that was needed - gave us a place to rest whilst on a long journey.

We stayed at this hotel two years ago. It seems not to have been updated to any degree since then and the hotel looks tired and in need of renovation. The room we given originally had problems with the electric kettle and TV so we were allocated a new room which had these items functioning but only one tea bag and a front door which was difficult to close. The dining room also looked in need of redecoration and curiously had a children's sandpit in one corner - something I'd never before seen. The staff were very nice, polite and efficient and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was also of good standard.

Terrible Campanile in Laon, France, AVOID

I mistakenly booked this room twice on a mobile app. the hotel refused to refund one of the bookings, in fact the receptionist thought it was hilarious. I spoke to another receptionist the next morning who told me only the manager could authorise this. later that day he had his assistant email me saying it was not possible - I booked it so I paid for it. Maybe his bad attitude is because he is the manager of the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Room freezing, heater hanging off the wall, terrible staff attitude.

Shabby hotel next a busy main road.

We encountered a long delay at check-in due to some administrative problem involving the guests checking in ahead of us. When we were finally given our card key, it did not work. On returning to reception to complain, it was clear that other guests had the same problem. The room looked somewhat shabby eg the large shelf holding TV etc was partially detached from the wall at one end and the lid of the kettle was broken. The TV was not working, but someone did come to fix that when we reported it. On arrival we had no hot water. As the road past the hotel was very busy, the window could not remain open at night because of traffic noise, so the room became very hot. At dinner on the first night we ordered a bottle of Corbiere wine but by the next evening there was none to be had. On the second evening we ordered a burger which was tough, overcooked and inedible. When we came for the self service breakfast on the second morning there was very little left and certain items had run out completely. Generally the staff seemed far too casual and inattentive. We decided to cut our losses and leave before the third night for which we had already paid. On asking for our bill there seemed to be no record of what extras we had had and we were asked whether we had had breakfasts. This, despite being asked for our room number whenever we went into the restaurant. We were not presented with a bill, just the credit card machine receipt.

Close to the motorway and easy to find this hotel has basic but clean and adequate rooms .Quiet enough too . Restaurant was very busy and although service was a bit chaotic staff are very pleasant and helpful Food is good with some interesting specials and breakfast was fine for modest charge .

Functional Hotel close To Motorway

Perfectly adequate hotel close to the motorway. Functional but looking a little tired. Bit too far from the attractions of Laon to get to without getting back in the car. Indeed no pavements on the roads around the hotel to allow you to walk anywhere in safety although there are a couple of eateries nearby which can be reached on quiet side roads. Did not try the restaurant at the hotel for dinner but had breakfast which was fine for the €9.90 charged. Staff friendly but seemed stretched with only one person present both on check-in and check-out. Would stay again but maybe find a hotel closer to the centre to have easier access to the amazing delights of the hilltop centre of Laon itself.

Despite the 24 hours reception, no one was there, the serving staff in the restaurant ignored me for some time, then gave me my key, saying I couldn't have a meal. It wasn't 21.00 yet, and the restaurant is supposed to open till 22.00. The room was clean enough. The bathroom wasn't. The roller blind didn't darken the room sufficiently, so you was flashing neon lights from the room. The nearby road was noisy all night, as were some of the hotel guests. Worse hotel from this chain ever.

If you were happy with the first generation of Campanile hotels, then you will have no complaints with this one. Except perhaps for the simplistic restaurant menu, which we found confusing and lacking both the choice of earlier times and the quality of the cuisine. But the room was good value for money and there are other restaurants close by.

Double charged by the staff

The main problem with the hotel is that the staff cannot read the contents of a voucher in English. My hotel room was prepaid, but the hotel insisted that it was not. Instead, they insisted on being paid once again before allowing us to proceed to our room. Given our state of exhaustion we did not insist that the payment had already been made. The next day when we contacted Expedia we found out that the hotel was if fact prepaid. This has never happened to me before, and I am still waiting to be reimbursed. The walls of the hotel were thin; we were kept awake by the talking of other guests on the common balcony. Not a pleasant stay after a long trip through France.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in total, one on our way to final destination and one night on our way back. To be fair the room contains all you need for a short overnight stay but our first room had an unpleasent smell of dog's, the following morning whilst we were having breakfast, I saw a fox enter the room next to us through the open window. Maybe that explained the smell. We were not looking forward to staying another night there, but it was pre-booked and convenient. The room allocated was slightly better but our night's sleep was disturbed several times by inconsiderate noisy people arriving late at night. Our experience in the restaurant wasn't so good, they were obviously short staffed and were waiting long times to be served. Needless to say we didn't want to stay for breakfast the following morning. Next time we will pay a bit more and hopefully get a better all round service, definetely wont be staying here again.

Welcome even on late arrival

Even after hours (Reception closed at 23.00h) we were welcomed. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are very simple. Comfortable beds, but cleanliness was lacking. Bathroom was outdated, but shower was ok. Breakfast was typical french and fresh.

Having stayed at the Campanile in Sedan on our outward rout and been very impressed, we chose Campanile again on our return. This hotel building was a little less pristine and the room and en suite not quite as impressive, but nevertheless we still thought it very comfortable and well designed. There were only 2 towels, and not particularly big ones at that, in the en suite, but there were soap dispensers at the washbasin and over the bath/shower. No air conditioning in this room, unlike the Sedan hotel, but we didn't need it as it was cold. There was a most welcome heater however. The bed and bedding were modern and comfortable and the wooden floor s and furnishings were up to date. They happily served us a good meal very late (9 p.m.) as our arrival was delayed - most welcome on a cold, miserably wet night. The one big criticism was that we could not get WiFi in our room - the last one on the upper corridor. We were simply told it wasn't working, even though there was apparently a good signal. We had to go down to the lounge by reception to send and pick up important messages. Campanile is the only French hotel chain we know which has electric kettles in the rooms and hot drink supplies - a good feature. Our room only had one teabag however and minimal supplies of milk. sugar and coffee. Overall a good stopover.

Very good for overnight stop

Reception was very friendly when we arrived and we had a lovely dinner. Convenient location near motorway and very easy to find with secure carpark, we were able to park right outside our room. This is really a motel as the rooms open directly onto a path by the carpark and the reception is across the carpark. Reception opens at 6.30am so if you want to leave early be sure to check out the night before.

Quite Disappointing

We were quite disappointed in this Hotel. Not sure how it managed a three star rating. The rooms were quite small and the chicken in my husband’s dinner was raw. We pointed this out to them, got no apology and found out they took a whole two euros off the bill. I must say that the rooms were clean.

The hotel was easy to find, very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, helpful and spoke good English. The meal in the restaurant was excellent. The only minor fault we could comment on is that there were only two paper cups in the room for the tea and coffee and yet sufficient supplies had been left for 2 cups each - and the spoons were plastic so they melted when used to stir the drinks! We would recommend this hotel to anyone as a good place to break a journey or to stay for a few days. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the town centre and we were able to walk into town and see the medieval part illuminated at the top of the hill.

Nous sommes arrivés vers 23h et nous avons pu accéder a nitre chambre sans aucun soucis grace au personnel qui nous avez indiqués la procédure pour rentrée. Super efficace et sans difficultés.
Le petit déjeuner était super j'aurai aimer un peu plus de variété mais sinon tout était super bon.
Notre étais propre rien a redire. Nous avons passer un super sejour !

Chambre spacieuse, bien équipée bouilloire bouteille d'eau café thé. chambre propre. Environnement calme (c'était un week-end). Manque volet roulant à la fenêtre pour masquer le jour. Cuvette des wc entartrée. Petit oubli du personnel qui a retiré les serviettes de toillette le deuxième jour sans en remettre, il a fallu appeler la réception pour avoir serviette et tapis de douche. Oubli rapidement réparé le matin

Kyriad Hotel ou Kyriad Direct

2 Kyriad dans une même ville. Evidement le GPS vous envoie sur le mauvais.
J'aurais pourtant préférer être chez Kyriad Hotel que chez Kyriad Direct, qui m'a paru un peu trop vétuste.
