Our first visit to Cape Town and so glad we found this boutique hotel. Superb service, food (Gigi restaurant) and comfort. The quality and variety of breakfast was unbeatable! Excellent location for visiting Company's Garden, castle, Bo-Kaap, District 6 museum and short taxi ride to V&A Waterfront.
All staff were friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and valued. Chloe, in particular, was really helpful and even gave us a snack-pack for our drive out to Cape Point. Not your typical \"tourist\" hotel .... definitly in the hub of the city but we felt very safe there. For anyone travelling by hire car, they offer valet parking (which we used for one night at no extra charge). Very good value for money in every aspect.

What a discovery! The hotel is really cute. Whoever was their designer did a great job. The room was spacious and well decorated and the water pressure in the bathroom was incredible. The rooftop restaurant was very stylish and the breakfast included with the stay was really good. They even packed us a breakfast takeaway bag when we had to leave at 3:30am for the airport! The hotel is in a great central location with fun vendors and a market square just outside the door. Would definitely recommend.

It was a little confusing ti find since its on a pedestrian street. I called the hotel and they sent the bell boy to direct me on how to get there. The rooms besides being very comfortable for my family and I, was very chic. You will fall in love with the rooftop restaurant. Reminded me of a LA chic vibe. The cocktails were amazing. The vibe was great. Athough it felt the hotel would be a great place for younger traveleres, there were so accommodating to my family and I. As a matter of fact, there were lots of families with young toddlers staying here.
The staff throughout the hotel was so cortious and helpful. They even walked with me to a grocery store to buy some stuff. I would have liked to have stayed for longer nights. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is incredibly chic and it offers cool amenities. Staff is also friendly and helpful. Room was totally fine and the price was fair. They offer parking. All that said, the area where the hotel is located is FAR FROM CHIC/hardly safe. It's also impossibly loud at night (like, can't sleep loud). Don't see myself coming back.

Great hotel in a great location close to so many attractions. The staff is amazing and the restaurant is spectacular on the rooftop. It’s a very cool vibe all around. I give five stars to the breakfast, which is superb, included with our room, and the dinner we enjoyed was A+. There are events at the hotel which makes it even better. I was travelling for three nights with my wife and four year old daughter and this stay was perfect.

This is a hotel with verve, boasting a style all its own. Ever so slightly (and enjoyably) steampunk. Spacious and comfortable rooms, professional and friendly staff. We lived the upstairs lounge and restaurant. Outside deck and plunge pool would be a plus in a slightly warmer season. Gorgeous George would be a great pick for most anybody, and is a refreshing alternative to stodgier luxury properties nearby.

We spent 4 nights during our honeymoon at Gorgeous George. We had the most amazing stay. The location is central, right in the CBD. The rooms were clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable. Gigis restaurant was incredible on the top floor! They had amazing coffee, drinks, and mouthwatering food! Don’t miss their daily complementary a-la-carte breakfast! The hotel had such quirky, yet mindblowing decor! Will gladly come back

Really cool art-focused boutique hotel in the center of downtown. Area is a little edgy and getting in/out via car can be tricky but the staff is skilled and capable at assisting when you need it. We walked from hotel to the garden district along the park -- could have also done the walk to the waterfront easily. Food was really good - we had one dinner and a breakfast at the hotel. And drink program / cocktails were excellent. Just what you'd expect from an urban boutique hotel. Did not disappoint.

Second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time. As before, everyone was super welcoming and helpful and the room was fantastic. The restaurant too! It is well located with an interesting market nearby and an easy Uber/cab ride to the waterfront and other places. Thoroughly recommended - and I hope to visit again in the future!

I went out in the immediate area in the day and felt safe, although I was warned about being sensible and careful with belongings at various times which made me a little extra cautious (this seems to be the case in Cape Town and other cities generally, not specific to the area immediately around the hotel, although if I'd gone out at night I would have taken a car rather than walking). Geographically, the location is good though, with a market nearby and a few museums - and it's very easy to take a car to various other sites.

Trendy, centrally located, and very clean! Staff was great, except the restaurant staff was quite slow. The walls were thin so I could hear others coming and going from their rooms, noise from outside, and the music from the first floor venue. They did provide earplugs, so clearly they’re aware this is ann issue. Overall excellent, would stay again!

The Gorgeous George Hotel was the perfect stop to end our honeymoon. The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. If there is an event at the restaurant, it can be heard in your room but the earplugs helped with the noise.

Love this hotel. It's like being on a film set with great decor and atmosphere. The staff are really friendly and super-helpful. Breakfast is great and I recommend the avo, poached eggs, bacon and sourdough toast. Delicious. We also had dinner in the hotel one night which was very good.
I would say, be aware that this is in the city centre of cape Town. Brilliant during the day as you can walk everywhere from here but better to Uber at night. The doormen, especially Erin were great at helping us to feel totally secure.

The property is apparently owned by a German … but the interior was designed by a South African and it shows. Beautiful touches of Cape Town art and detail adorns this small boutique hotel.
It has a beautiful roof top bar and decor with decent food and drinks. The spacious rooms were designed in what I would call South African QT / W hotel vibes which I adore.
The hotel is difficult to access by car but they offer a free valet / parking service… you have to drive onto the pedestrian path / mall in front of the hotel.
The area around the hotel may not feel so safe at night… it is in the CBD / down town area after all.
It has a beautiful roof top bar and decor with decent food and drinks. The spacious rooms were designed in what I would call South African QT / W hotel vibes which I adore.
The hotel is difficult to access by car but they offer a free valet / parking service… you have to drive onto the pedestrian path / mall in front of the hotel.
The area around the hotel may not feel so safe at night… it is in the CBD / down town area after all.

Very central, yet difficult to access. As doors open from a pedestrian road, one has to drive into the pedestrian road to access parking. Finding this out the first time is not easy, and later on not practical.
Staff is welcoming, attentive and friendly.

Getting to the hotel's entrance is a bit tricky, some drivers know their ways so problem solved, otherwise the drop off point to hotel is still walkable. The hotel is beautifully restored with chic and creative design, bed is very comfortable. I really love the vibes here, unfortunately it can be very loud with the music during weekend. One should avoid this place if quiet room preferred. Breakfast served in a la carte menu and freshly prepared, it was so delicious. Staffs are very genuine, helpful and friendly. It was definitely the hidden gem in Cape Town.

NOT a 5 star hotel!
We chose this hotel because it had a 5 star rating and it offered a suite with two king beds and 1 queen bed—perfect for our family, so it was worth the splurge. We booked it, and then it turned out that neither was accurate. The advertised room didn’t even exist! We arrived late, tired and hungry, and too late to find another hotel, so the only way to get a 2nd king bed was to pay for a 2nd room, making the cost even higher. Totally unfair and unprofessional. The hotel staff handled it very poorly—they made us wait forever while they tried to find a manager or anyone who would know how to handle the situation. They had no idea what they were doing. When they finally gave us an additional price to pay (and even wrote it in their notes!), the next day, they ended up charging us an even higher amount! This was not anything like a 5 star hotel! They also had no concierge or other amenities to make the hotel in keeping with such a rating.

Great service and both the rooms and the restaurant were really nice. Entry and hallways need to be refreshed. Do your research to make sure you want to be in the city center - with that said we had no issues. Access to the Bree St restaurants was nice.

The property was nice. Tight quarters in the lobby especially accessing the lifts. Our unit was immediately in front of the elevator door. Not ideal for a larger, more expensive room. I sounded like there was a gym under or over us. The room felt cold and dark. It was well appointed although no iron or much hanging space for clothes. The neighborhood was not nice. It didn’t feel safe especially after dark. The restaurant in the hotel was the best part of our stay. Food was fantastic although the service felt snooty. I think we were just not young enough for this wannabe trendy hotel.

Excellent service - friendly and accommodating. Unattractive building on the outside but quite nice inside. Quiet, located close to things. One negative are people who pester you for money as you walk nearby. Insistent but not rude, nor dangerous in our experience. Food is surprisingly good for a mid-level hotel.

I have been going to Mining Indaba for more than a decade and stayed in many different hotels, including big brand names. Gorgeous George is by far the best I have stayed at in so many respects. However, what perhaps stands out most is the staff. Most hotels have courteous, helpful staff. GG goes beyond this. They are genuinely friendly and fun. The hotel has free access to a top gym, their restaurant is cool and has terrific food. The rooms are spacious and elegant with good amenities. I will no longer be searching around for new hotels in Cape Town. I have found my place and will keep going to GG from now on.
