Clean and utilitarian university dorms. Good sized fridge and hot plate included; no coffee machine, tea kettle, or hairdryer as it was a dorm. Concrete floors, very quiet. The beds were unusually high off the ground but comfortable- might be difficult for a person with mobility issues or a smaller child to enter/exit the bed. Helpful and friendly front desk and breakfast staff. Complimentary breakfast included scrambled eggs, baked goods, cereal, and fruit. Really cute white tailed jackrabbits and magpies on the campus. A bit of a walk to the parking garage, but the building has spots for drop off and loading/unloading bags. We would stay here again.

It’s student accommodation so we got what we paid for. It’s one step above a prison cell but it was cheaper than anything else during stampede. No AC in the building either so it was super warm. The staff did give us fans though.

The unit was very basic but definitely needs to TLC. The concrete floor was crumbling in several places which made it feel contsbalty dirty with small pieces sticking to your socks/feet. The toilet wasnt securely fastened to the flood and there was just a plastic wedge to hold it in place so if not super careful the toilet would tip to the side. It is disappointing that the units come with kitchens but kitchen kits are no longer available for rent so you need to hring your own stuff or are unable to actually use the kitchen.

I expected few amenities but the 2 pillows were a little thin. The biggest issue was that the room was soo hot. It was difficult to sleep. The hallway and outside were both cooler than the room. It felt like a hostel in Europe. I wouldn't stay here again.

Can’t reach “24/7” front desk

Terrible service - I tried to call multiple phone numbers and messaging processes to let the 24/7 desk know I was going to be late; I was unable to get through to the point I had to stay elsewhere and pay a hideous amount for a last-minute stay; I’m still waiting to hear back about a refund but hotels.com can’t even get a hold of the company.

The matress are horibly unconfortables. Spring matress and you feel all of them! On text description, App 4 don't include kitchen (only refrigerator and microwave) but on picture, you mention a private kitchen. That mislead us as there was none cookware at all. don't say private kitchen if you need to bring your own cookware... I would stay at an hotel instead. It was to be in family. But only one 3 places sofa and a small 4 seats table for a family of six. it wasn't worth it.

The building looks okay. Not the best but not bad. We stayed there for the stampede. It is convenient and accessible. The breakfast are okay even tho it was the same the whole three days we stayed there. Parking lot is good.

The night shift stuff are good. But one of the staff which happen to serve us in the afternoon seems need more training how to communicate with guests.

We had to change our room because the first one they assigned to us was dirty. The floor was unclean, the shelves were dusty, pee stains on the toilet, and it was super hot.

They let guests borrow stand fans since there is no AC there. Didn't bother us that much.

It is cheap, so don't expect too much.

Overall, I would still consider staying there next time.

The beds are probably some of the most uncomfortable you will sleep on however it is affordable just know you are staying in college dorms there are no AC and parking is a 7 minute or so walk with stairs back to your dorm room. No television, no ac, no cutlery this isn't a hotel don't expect a hotel and you'll be okay.

It was a chilly stay and the ventilator was noisy. The room was overpriced. I booked with Expedia the first night and upgraded to the corporate studio. It cost $260.00. I booked the second night through RCC and it was $201.00. Even at $201.00 it was overpriced. In a room designed for two, there was only seating for one. It had the most poorly designed window blind systems ever seen. Takes forever to roll blinds down. I will never book Expedia again as I paid $60.00 more and will never book SAIT again as there is no value for the money.

We stayed at SAIT during Stampede and found it incredibly convenient and a great value. Like other reviews we did find the lack of a/c to be a drawback: we managed by dialling down the fridge (it emits heat) and staying out as late as we could! Our room had a tv, but alas no input. The c-train was a 9 min walk and got us to downtown in 15 min and to Stampede in 20 min. One stop south is a fully stocked grocery store. The breakfast was great and do recommend especially if you plan on using transit.

The first day of the building when I arrived they ask for the I'd and payment I did after that they gave me the key for the room and told me that the elevators are not working also the parking is very far like 8-10 min walking distance

Room was very nice and well-equipped. There was no recycling bin, and when I asked at the desk, I was told to simply throw my recycling in the garbage!
The continental breakfast was poor. The coffee was revolting. What was labelled ``scrambled eggs'' did not taste like eggs at all! It was terrible. Oatmeal was cold. There was no orange juice. Pancakes were okay, though.
Staff was pleasant. Since I have difficulty walking long distances, they were so kind as to let me park in the lot just outside the doors.
The bed was weird. You can not sit on the edge of the bed since it was so soft. The comforter was tucked in strangely so that I could not pull it up to cover my shoulders. The smoke detector went off while I was having a shower. The remote for the TV was just strange; there is no on/off button and it took me some time to finally get the TV on.

Our bathroom had things that were breaking like the toilet paper holder kept falling off, the toilet wasn't flat on the ground so everytime you sat down it moved, the shower head was healed to the wall with tape. Staying at the SAIT Hotel in Calgary was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at any accommodation. When we arrived, two of the four elevators were already out of service. By the second day, the remaining two also broke down. In a 22-floor building, that’s absolutely unacceptable. They said they might have them working by the next morning. No backup plan, no communication, nothing.

Because of this, we were forced to take the stairs down 15 flights, and then got completely locked in the basement. The woman we spoke to on the phone failed to mention that only one of the two fire exits was actually usable. I have a dislocated kneecap — this was not just inconvenient, it was dangerous. No one came to help us. We eventually made it out on our own, with zero support from the front desk.

To make matters worse, management didn’t notify guests at all. No signs, no emails — and when I asked why, the staff claimed they “had no way to contact us.”

On top of that, the kitchen light went out on day two and wasn’t fixed until after we checked out. The beds were uncomfortable dorm beds with flat pillows and thin sheets, everything felt cheap, neglected, and poorly maintained. There’s also no air conditioning, no ice machines, no phone, no basic amenities, and zero effort to make guests feel safe or comfortable.

This place should not be operating.

Cost-Effective But Trade-Offs

We stayed at the SAIT hotel during a conference in Calgary, where most hotels were either fully booked or overpriced. SAIT is part of a college dormitory, so be prepared for a more basic experience. The rooms have spring mattresses, cement floors, and no in-room hair dryers. In the afternoon, we noticed smoke smells coming through the vents—likely from students smoking in nearby dorms, despite posted no-smoking signs.

Breakfast is included, but very minimal: think yogurt, dry muffins, toast, apples or oranges, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, no protein for breakfast, and something that resembles juice (watered-down colored liquid from a dispenser with ice). The scrambled eggs were especially disappointing—tasted from a carton cooked in a microwave. I recommend planning your breakfast off-site.

A parking pass is provided, but the lot is about a 10-minute walk from the dorms. On the plus side, the facility is secure—you need a key card for elevator access and building entry. Naturally, just be mindful not to engage with the student population.

In summary, if you’re okay with dorm-style living and want something budget-friendly and safe, SAIT is a practical choice. Otherwise, it may be worth spending more for a traditional hotel experience.

It was a comfortable accommodation and for what I was looking for since I was travelling alone. The breakfast was good too, I was only surprised its same array of options daily.

The room was fairly warm and the hot/cold water system was functional. The city view from my room was great too, I loved it.
The ease of access to train/bus stations also made my commute simpler.

I do wish they can make cooking utensils available in the rooms. Basic such as pots, spoons, etc. since there is already a cooker available.

This is a dorm- it was great that we had 4 room for the 5 of us BUT there was no way 2 adults fit on the beds comfortably. They are small double beds and like hospital beds- they are also up in the air as they have room under to store items. The only thing I would like to see them add is a TV and maybe some kitchen ware (coffee maker would be amazing). We ate the breakfast 1 morning- not good. The area is cute but it is a walk to the train or parking. We did use the laundry room and it was really nice!
