I highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Geilo. The staff are kind, the breakfast is great and the room was clean. The views are amazing, and the hotel is conveniently located on the ski bus route.

The staff was pleasant and the food was decent, yet expensive for what it is.
After paying for the hotel you have to pay separately for parking to the tune of $30 USD per day.
The shower floor is tiled in such a way that it is impossible to not flood the rest of the bathroom while taking a shower.
The thermostat is stuck at 23C, so we had to sleep with the window open.
Anyone’s key seems to work anywhere. We had some teenyboppers just pop into our room at midnight.

Room was not very clean and the outside hallway smelled bad. The room was supposed to be smoke free, but smell awful with smoke. Parking lot was a gravel which made it very difficult for bringing in luggage.Breakfast choices were good.

Cute ski hotel w/sauna in basement

We stayed in the Geilo Hotel, a short walk from the train station, before continuing on to Bergen. It's very cute inside! Our room had a nice view of the mountains, and it was easy to walk to the lake for a hike. The only weird part was that toilet was oddly placed in the bathroom. P.s. they're not strict about when the breakfast room opens.

With check in. Or until 4pm, you’d expectations to be ready. Arrived early and was told to come back at 4pm which I did. At that time I was told the room wasn’t ready. I was waiting around until 4.50pm. The people at the desk were very friendly and apologetic so nothing against them. However if your checking is as late as 4pm and you can get rooms ready on time there must be a shortage of staff. Other than that, the hotel was wonderful, just far enough out of the main centre but close enough to walk. Plenty of car parking space for cars.

We loved this hotel. Looking at the antiques and old photos was really fun. The beds were very comfortable and the room really clean. The hotel staff was helpful when asked about hiking or any other questions we had. The breakfast buffet was huge and really good. We were in Geilo during their shoulder season before summer with few restaurants open, so we had both nights dinners in their restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent. We would highly recommend this hotel!

Overall had a great stay, the Hotel is warm and comfortable and the refurbished decor is lovely. The log burner in the lounge/bar area was lit every afternoon/evening and we always found a comfortable corner. Bedrooms are not huge but are comfortable and we had a great view, worth the extra cost for a lake facing room. No tea/coffee making facility in rooms, however available in the dining room all day to help ourselves. Breakfast was pretty good, we enjoyed the Norwegian waffles, there is a good variety of cold meats, cheeses and herring, a limited hot food selection and a great view. The Hotel is very convenient for the train which we took from Oslo (highly recommended) as the hotel location is a few minutes, flat walk so no problem to pull our bags along in the snow. A short but uphill walk to Geiloheisen Express chair lift for access to skiing on the town side (mainly blue and red runs). Great skiing - a day of sunshine and then a day of fresh snow / poor visibility which was a bit tricky on a busy Saturday. Staff were helpful letting us leave our luggage after check-out and use facilities for changing/showering after skiing.

The only real negative was that the bus service for access to the ski area on the other side of town, Vestilia was a bit erratic in terms of where/when the bus stopped so leave plenty of time for that.

Generally good. Annoyed that I was told breakfast was from 0800 when two coach parties were allowed in before me!
With an early train to catch 0700 would have been more convenient for me. Information provided before I booked stated breakfast was served from 0730.

In front of hotel was a building site which spoilt the view somewhat !

Would consider using again as its near the station but a bit putt off by their taking coach parties.

I expected more from this hotel. We had an ordinary room with a view of a carpark. The room was basic. Nofridge, coffe making facilities and plastic cups! Very small tv. Extra pillows in cupboard were dirty and no pillow cases. Breakfast was poor. Limited food and very poor to what we have experienced in every other hotel we stayed. No fresh pastries, limited hot food and poor selection of cereal. Restaurant food expensive and very limited menu so we did not eat there. There is no lift so we had to carry our bags to 4th floor. The hotel ambience and decor is very nice.

Great Stay, Comfortable and very friendly

In the village centre, with great access to everywhere.
Free parking and Free fast internet

Rooms are a little outdated but it keeps the feel of the area and what the hotel stands for.

Breakfast was incredible with a great selection of foods, and i personally loved the waffle machine, making my own waffles.

Nice hotel close to other central Geilo. Good prices. If not for the fact that it was an uncomfortably cold stay I might have given it a great rating. Both room and general areas were very cold (<15 c).

I heard in passing the next day they had been closed for a few days and were having some technical issues with the general heating. Some info when checking in would have been nice.

But even if they had technical issues with general heating that is no excuse for my rooms bathroom floor heating being basically turned off and the room radiator being almost shut off (valve) when I checking in that evening.

Fantastic service, great hotel, cozy lobby with fireplaces and massive sofas with throws to relax at, free tea and coffee in the lobby, nice bar. We were off-season, travelling around Norway, absolutely loved it. The beds are super comfortable, had great night sleep. We went hiking around the nearby lake, beautiful trail in deep Norwegian woods, met a troll on the way.

Fairly well-maintained old hotel, but a bit shabby in places. The room was reasonably comfortable, although the walls are quite thin. Fortunately the neighbors next door weren’t late-nighters. The dinner buffet was marginally acceptable, but breakfast was better except for the coffee arrangement. They have one cup-at-a-time machine which created a long line for coffee. They really need to do better than that. Overall, though, it was fine for an overnight stay.

The hotel seemed understaffed. There was often a wait for reception staff and it was tricky to find dining room staff. Some of the staff weren't well informed on how paying for a packed lunch from the breakfast buffet worked, causing us to go round in circles. The room was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and there was a reasonable (for Norway) restaurant a short walk away. Breakfast buffet was good.

Off-season ski area was pretty quiet during our visit in June, though there was a tour bus here. Got a great recommendation from the desk clerk for dinner at Sofia's Cafe, great soups. No elevators so a bit of a haul with my wife's luggage up a couple flights. ;-)

My stay at the Geilo Hotel was fine. The hotel is an older building...you'll have to haul your luggage up the stairs as there is no elevator and the rooms/decor have a bit of a dated feel, but comfortable enough.

Quaint old hotel with spacious rooms and comfortable bedding. Kitchy decor. Friendly, efficient front desk staff and restaurant staff. Bedroom had fridge. There was a bathroom with W/C a sink and a separate shower room with sink. Dinner was included in our room price as was breakfast. Dinner buffet offered a lot of variety and was pretty tasty. There was a hot and cold sumptious breakfast buffet that was great. We enjoyed our stay and are planning to return.

The hotel was in a good location, 10' walk to the centre and also to the train station. The rooms were ok and the food was average. The Ski bus was right outside but only picks up and drops off twice a day, last bus is 2.30pm which cuts out half your day. To the ski areas on the other side it will only take you there.

Praktisk beliggenhet med tanke på skibussen som stopper rett utenfor. Også knappe 10 min å gå fra jernbanestasjonen, så veldig greit når man kommer med toget. Anbefales.

Hotellet er ikke nyt, og bærer lidt præg af at der bruges skistøvler en del af året, men alt var rent og indbydende.
Personalet var travle, men imødekommende og gjorde hvad de kunne for at servicere alle.
Maden var aldeles fremragende ( vi valgte Rensdyr mørbrad ), det var veltilberedt og meget velanrettet.

Die Zimmer mit Talblick sind sehr schön und bieten eine wunderbare Aussicht. Bei den Zimmern auf der Hangseite liegen die Fenster jedoch etwas unterhalb des Strassenniveaus, sodass Passanten direkt in die Zimmer schauen können. Aus diesem Grund müssen die Vorhänge meist geschlossen bleiben.

Peu de charme

Si l'hôtel est bien entrenu, le bar et le salon plutôt cosy, l'hôtel n'a que peu de charme. Chambre donnant sur une voie ferrée, 2eme étage sans ascenseur, et salle de bain de taille réduite et peu pratique.
Geilo en été n'a aucun intérêt, c'est triste, une simple étape sur la route.
Petit déjeuner complet. Disponible un peu tard (8h) les bus de touristes passant avant.

Gammalt och behov av renovering.

Hotellet är gammalt och hade behövts renoveras. När vi öppnade dörren till rummet så möts vi av en lukt av gammalt. Det var mitt andra besök på Geilo Hotell och det var detsamma förra gången. Jag tänkte ge det en chans till den här gången men ändrade tyvärr inte min mening. Den delen där baren och restaurangen är framstår som fräschare än bodelen.

Vi koste oss på Geilo Hotell

Bra hotell, bra rom. Veldig bra renhold, både på rom og bad. Gode senger.
Eneste ulempen var at på grunn av veldig høy temperatur måtte vi ha vinduet åpent på natta, og på grunn av mye støy fra toget som passerte ble det dårlig søvn. Hadde utetemperaturen vært lavere og vinduene kunne vært lukket hadde nok ikke dette vært noe problem.
Frokosten var veldig bra.
Ellers så var 350,- for et lite glass rødvin og 0.33 pærecider litt drøyt.
Men totalt sett fornøyd.

Slitent hotell. Vi fikk rom mot parkering og jernbane. Sikkert andre rom som er bedre. Det største problemet er at rommet manglet ikke bare AC men og ventilasjon. Ekstremt varmt om natta.
