We stayed here for a week. It's a bit out of the way so there are less crowds, but you only have to transfer once to central Tokyo from Ikebukuro, and it is a lot more affordable and we got to do so much more! Beds were super comfy, lots of room and had a lot of amenities available. Staff were really friendly as well and were always willing to help, even providing some advice in English when we needed it. Tokiwadai had a really cozy local vibe and had a lot of good restaurants, convenience stores, chemists, and the train station/bus, all within 5 minute walking distance.
The hotel also has vending machines and coin laundry on the first floor. If you are considering staying here, just go for it! I would love to stay here again the next time I visit Japan.

My only complaint is that everything in the room was smaller than me and my boyfriend are used to. Especially the bed and bathtub/shower. It was extremely cheap though and definitely worth the price, especially since it was in a relatively convenient location! I would definitely book again

This is one of my favorite places in Japan. The price has gone up way too much though and the rooms are very outdated and have mold in them. You have to clean your own room take out the trash or pay extra to have it done. There is a laundromat on first floor but the drier doesn’t work well and you have to spend more. The showers is small for me and I’m 5’2. The area around the hotel is amazing; there are restaurants, grocery stores, 7/11, fast food, drug stores and the train station is 8 minute walk. Again this is my favorite hotel, but for the price now I wouldn’t do it again. There nicer places for the price.

The area of Tokiwadai was close to downtown Tokyo (Ikebukuro station) just a few stops by train, but is quiet and peaceful. The hotel is just a few minutes walk to the station so it was very convenient. The room itself was really small and old, but clean enough considering the price. No room service meant I had to sort and throw away the garbage myself but it was not too bad. The staff were really friendly and helpful too. Overall pretty good!

The hotel was very welcoming they even had a map with near by store, food, parks ect haven’t seen a hotel do that yet. Was very nice! The area was amazing, grocery store, plenty of food places that are in walking distance, the train station is about four min walk, other tourist attractions are a short train ride away from place like Shibuya, Shinjuku ect. The only things that weren’t good was, the laundry cost way too much, you have to separate your own trash and throw it away, you have to pay for new bedding and towels, there is a room cleaning but you have to pay, the room has mold coming out of the walls, and I’m 5’ and the showers were small for me. There are dishes, hot plate, and a vacuum but when on vacation who wants to clean their own stuff.

Black mold on ceiling and corner wallpaper, brown stains under air conditioner. The water in the toilet would not stop and had to be fixed twice. The ceiling light in the main room comes on and off. I had a fever of 38 degrees and went to bed. Black molds on the ceiling fly when the air conditioner is turned on. The hotel staff was very friendly.

This is a decent place to stay especially compared to other hotels or apartments it was so much cheaper. I think the reason for that is that it was slightly off the main route. So you'd need to go to ikebukaro first before going elsewhere in Tokyo. Going was fine but coming back you'd have quite a line of people and a potential wait and standing journey back.
This isn't the fault of the accommodation in any way of course but it's just to be a consideration.

The property is about a 5 minute walk to the closest train station, which was a lifesaver after long days of travel and exploring - there were also many restaurants, both dine-in and takeout, along with grocery and convenience stores nearby (also 5 minutes or less of a walk). The staff was extremely friendly and helpful - when we checked in, the Front Desk staff member who checked us in explained property information in English, our primary language and gave us helpful flyers (also in English). Another front desk staff member helped me all the way through the process of sending my luggage onto our next hotel in Osaka (honestly a MUST if you’ll be traveling any other method than by car, even just in the same city) in time for it to be delivered on the day of our next check in. The room itself was spacious for myself and my brother, with separate living and bed rooms, and enough storage space for all of our baggage and purchases. The bathroom felt a slight bit cramped, but overall not too big of a bother - I think more countertop space would be helpful. Everything that we would’ve needed amenity-wise was provided, including food wares, which did come in handy for dinners in the room. It was an enjoyable stay and I will definitely be keeping this hotel in mind for my next visit!

I've stayed here before and had a great time. The people are great and I love the location. If you're not a tiny person do not let them put you in room 203. There's a drop ceiling in the shower/bath stall that comes down to hit my shoulder, and I have to keep my hand on the side of that drop so I don't smack my head into it. It's scary to lean down for soap or shampoo or anything and try to stand up without knocking yourself out or gashing your head on the corner of that dropped ceiling. Meanwhile you get all tangled up in the shower curtain. They should turn this into a storage room, or restrict it to only very short people. It's also on the noisy highway side of the property.

The triple (bed room choice) is very spacious with living/dining space. For the 2nd night, we switched to two rooms as one more family member arrived in Tokyo, and I asked the rooms to be on the same floor though it had been the hotel manager’s gesture to give us bigger rooms which were on different floors. They understood my needs and accommodated the request despite difficulties. They also patiently explained the pros and cons of the options for our consideration. We love their location, too.

Good bare bones hotel

Room was large by Japanese standards but starting to show its age; the worktop of the kitchenette was discolored and cracked, and the general look of the room, with its dark coloured wood furniture and panelling just, gave the feeling that it had seen better days.

The room was clean though.

The kitchenette was nothing more than a worktop next to a small sink, and was a chore to use because of the lack of space and the very low mounted cabinets that forces you to hunch over the worktop so as to avoid banging your head.

The bathroom was a typical Japanese 'plastic box' bathroom, small and cramped but functional and clean. It didn't have a sink.

Beds and bedding were comfy with storage space for clothes and suitcase.

The hotel itself is about 5 minutes walk from Tokiwadai station, which itself is about 15 minutes (and about 165 Yen one way) from the main hub of Ikebukuro. There are small supermarkets and restaurants in the area but if you want choice, Ikebukuro is the better bet.

Can't beat that price!

Just a short ride on the tobu Tojo line out of Ikebukoro and very close to the train station makes this place a great location for someone who's looking to do tokyo on the cheap. The staff don't really speak English but they are friendly as heck! Plenty of washing machines so you're not waiting on anyone in the laundry and the rooms are actually kind of charming.
You'll probably look at other reviews on here and I've got to tell you... They must have been smoking some bad granola because for the price, location and cleanliness of the hotel you absolutely can not complain. There are a few drawbacks though! Here are some pros and cons.

Pros:
Close (enough) to Central tokyo
Very close to the local station
Friendly neighbourhood
Friendly staff
Room was clean af
Plenty of nearby restaurants

Cons:
Not really too many if your stay is short but I was there for just under a month, if you're similar here's a couple things to watch out for.

No room cleaning - none at all, even for a month.
Must pay for things like new towels/sheets etc.
Ironing board not available after 6 pm

Small drawbacks really, honestly though I've stayed in way worse places in tokyo, flexstay inn tokiwadai is fantastic for someone like me. Screw these spoilt kids expecting a first class reception for a budget hotel.

Cheap and quiet place. Hotel Staffs are friendly and can communicate in simple English. Hotel is located near train station which is about 5 minutes walk. Near the train station also has eatery, a supermarket and 24 hours shops (7-11).
Room is small but with all the commodities. However, difficult to operate the water heater as you need to adjust a hot and a cold taps to get the right temperature for the water. Additional cost for room service and change of towels. You have to clear your own rubbish to a central bin at 1st floor.

Good basic budget hotel

I was very impressed by the speed and reliability of the wired internet connection. The hotel is well located near two train stations as well as supermarkets and other shopping options. There is no daily cleaning service, but the room was in very good shape upon arrival. In-room refrigerator and microwave were in excellent condition. The laundry facilities and air conditioner were easy to use even for someone without much Japanese knowledge. One inconsistency was that Expedia indicated my checkout time as 11 am, but the hotel in reality has strict rules regarding checkout at 10 am. It would be good if the staff spoke a little more English, but, then again, I should really also speak more Japanese.

Everything u need in a budget hotel. Helpful staff, well kept and clean. In a surburban.neighbourhood of Itabashi City. McDonalds, 711, and many better places to eat. Take a local train and then use the subway everywhere else. Local people are ALWAYS courteous and helpful.

I enjoyed my stay at this budget hotel, it is in a nice quiet residentail area in Tokiwadai with shopping facilities and train station close by which is only a few stops to the main City Ibekekuro which is a hub for all major Tokyo City routes. The staff are excellent, friendly. polite and hospitable. Although, they do not all speak English, I praise their efforts for trying and are they always so very helpful.

Great Staff Communication - Nice Hotel

This is one of a large chain of hotels in Tokyo and the customer service was outstanding. We had questions before traveling and emails were answered very quickly. It was so affordable and met all our needs - full sized bath, comfortable beds, kitchen area, etc. We stayed for three weeks and were very comfortable. Highly recommend. It's a little out of the way but quiet and easy access to everything.

My brother and myself have wanted to travel to Japan for a long time and with the cost of this hotel made it a reality. We traveled to Haneda Airport and landed around 10pm. The hotel provided us with all the information required to late check-in including codes through the security door. From the Airport it was an Hour trip to the hotel on 3 trains which arrived very close to the hotel in Tokiwadai. Upon receiving our keys we were shown to our room which had alot of room for two people to share. Twin Beds in one room, with a Dining area with suitble equipment and a ensuite bathroom with a powerful shower.

Given that the price of the stay was around the same price for a capsule room, i was not expecting much. However, i was shocked to see how well equipped the room was. There was a fridge, microwave, kettle, bathtub shower, and the infamous Japanese toilet. Sure some people might argue that the room is small, but it definitely is better than staying in a capsule and sharing bathroom facilities!
There is no doubt that i would stay again when i am in Tokyo.

This hotel is pretty far out from the centre of Tokyo. You'll need to take a suburban line out from the main lines servicing Tokyo, resulting in us having to spend a lot of time travelling. However, this was to be expected considering the lower rates charged. Room and hotel condition was good. Staff can barely speak English, but still try their best to communicate.

It is a pleasant stay in Flexstay inn tokiwadai, everything is just suited to our needs,the bed is very big (two queen size bed), the kitchen ware like
microwave, non stick pan, knife all ready. The nearby shop can have good curry rice and ramen at price Y480-Y780.The only thing is everyday we need to travel from Tokiwadai to Ikebukuro(Tobu Tojuline) and use other JR or Train to the other station.But it is still a good place for us to stay for 7 nights.We really can sleep well in this hotel. It is very quite in midnight.

For the price, I couldn't complain. All my business took place in shibuya and this was about a 20-30 minute train ride away. Not bad in my opinion. The only negative I have is that my fridge didn't work and that if your computer or mobile device happens to go into stand by or power saver mode, you'll have to re enter the wifi code. So in about an hour I had it memorized. Other than that, friendly staff, quite neighborhood and all around good stay.

A little outside of the city, but a good option

I'd recommend the Flexstay Inn to anyone on a budget who is fortunate enough to come to Tokyo, but doesn't want to be downtown. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the station which gives great action to the heart of the capital, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

The hotel itself is well kept, reception is only open between 9am and 6pm, and although check-in is supposed to be at 3pm, when I got to the hotel they had no issue with me doing this early. Staff are polite, speaking good English and offer you a map to be able to find your way around.

The rooms themselves are nice, even though I had one which was the same side as a main road, I barely had any disturbances from the traffic. Pretty much everything you need is inside including toiletries - though be warned that if you stay for more than two nights then there is no room cleaning services provided. You can get additional towels at a cost, but that was something which didn't really affect me.

Overall, I'd say that it's suitable for people who are budget concious and don't mind a fifteen to twenty minute train ride to get close to Tokyo city itself.

客室はミニキッチンが付いてるお部屋で自炊ができて設備も充実していてとても助かり良かったです。お部屋も広くてベットの部屋とテーブルのある部屋があり最適でした。スタッフさんの対応もとても親切、丁寧で過ごしやすかったです。ホテルの立地も良くてまた利用したいです。

建物自体マンションで廊下は屋外でした。
部屋は壁紙も黄色く消臭剤がたくさん置いてありました。
シャワーに髪の毛が残ったままで
清潔感はありませんでした。

フロントの営業時間外（フロント18時まで）に帰ったら、フロントの玄関ドアのロック解除なしで毎回入れた。
チェックイン時に時間外に帰宅した場合、玄関ドアの左にある操作パネルから解除キーを入力してロック解除して入れると説明があったけどあれはどういうこと？
セキュリティ面大丈夫？

それ以外は問題なかった。

Nos pusieron en una habitación para fumadores sin preguntarnos siquiera, la moqueta estaba sucia y parte del mobiliario roto, además del olor a tabaco que era horrible.
La conexión con el centro y el personal es satisfactorio.
Creo que con un lavado de cara y una limpieza profunda el hotel mejoraría bastante

Excelnte opción, muy amplia.
Solo que no ofrecen servicio de limpieza o cambio de toallas si te quedas mas de 6 días, tiene un costo extra.
Pero muy buena opción.
