Everything was average or slightly better, except for the “hot” breakfast. Nothing in the warming pans was, in fact, warm at all. The premade English muffins with egg and sausage were not at all fresh, but cold and stale. The “Belgian waffles”, also precooked, were in a warming pan that was cold and the waffles were not fresh but chewy, stale and tasteless. I stayed two days and the “hot” food was the same on both mornings and was neither hot nor fresh. Very disappointing. I expect better from Marriott related hotels.

The night shift lady at the front desk was absolutely amazing!! She definitely deserves a raise! Best costumer serve I've ever had. The pool looked not clean. The hot tub had caution tape around it and wasn't in use. I was scared the elevator would stop working everytime I got in it. The condition of the building was rough. The room was clean no bugs. Smelled good. Gym was good. Ice machine good. The coffee the next morning was fantastic. Best hotel coffee I'd ever had. Breakfast was soo good. I was so glad to see sausage egg biscuits instead of just oatmeal and cereal. I do wish they had creamer though but it's okay.

Front desk attendant was wonderful checking in! Very friendly and professional! The room however could use an updating. We had 3 people getting ready for an event and not having even an additional mirror in the room was a bit tougher for all to get ready at once. Room also could use a good deep cleaning. There ware stains and food remnants on the sofa and the bathroom floor wasn’t clean at all. Convenient location but would stay elsewhere even if we have to pay a bit more.

My family and I came for a quick visit and ended up having to extend our stay for about a week waiting for I29 to be opened past St. Jo, MO during the christmas season of 25. I cannot remember her name but the ladies who manage the front desk were very wonderful. Our rooms were fresh and clean and all the staff would greet us as we walked through to leave. The customer service was 5 star every interaction and we had many from my needing to extend to looking for places to eat and they even were able to guide me to find dinner, whether the stores were open or not and they checked on us when we would leave to see family. Our room, my bed, the breakfasts, the hot cocoa and candy canes....this was only my 2nd stay in your chain and I love it. Thank you so much to Lawrence ks Springhill Suites. It felt like staying with family.

I had really bad luck with another hotel and I had to book this one at the last minute. I called the next morning to see if I could come check in early, she said no problem, no charge, you’ve been through enough, we have a room ready. When I tell you Nya made my experience so great. She was so professional, kind, helpful and empathetic to my family. This was beautiful property right off a body of water, clean, quiet and comfy. Nice amenities. We swam too and that was great as well. I hope to come back soon!

Upon arrival the hotel looks run down and could use a refresh. The rooms were fine but the bathroom is definitely showing its age. The pool had been shutdown by the health department 6 days before our arrival but for some reason we weren’t notified in advance. We were traveling with a middle school volleyball team and we wouldn’t have booked a hotel without a pool. They said we could cancel but at that point we were at the front desk and no other hotels had availability for everyone.

We ended up NOT staying at this hotel because we reside in the same county so the checkin lady assumed we were kicked out of our home and wanted to party and tried to make us pay an extra $250 deposit for room damages. We felt extremely confused as we are a local professional couple that just wanted a night to ourselves away from our children for Valentines Day. She then mentioned that since there was a homeless camp near they do.not respect local residents. We left feeling targeted and dumbfounded as we have never been been treated so unfairly by a local establishment.

This property has been updated recently. The design and layout is very odd. The horn from the train woke us up at least 4 times throughout the night. It is nice on the surface but it is obvious that consistent maintenance is not happening.

This hotel’s entrance and layout is a bit quirky. It is not your typical big box hotel. Some may find that charming, others may not. It was fine with us. Lobby and breakfast area were very clean and well kept. Desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. Been on a lot of trips in the last few years and they by far have been the most outstanding and friendly check in/check out staff we have encountered. Rooms are bigger but layout a bit odd. Hard to get to closet with 2 beds, no dresser or drawers to put things in. Maybe putting some shelves on a wall would help. River view from room. Train didn’t bother us.

Stayed here for one night. The photos online look vibrant and bright. However, the place is really not very bright or vibrant. The layout of the hotel is interesting. You go in on the 3rd floor to check in and the rooms are below. I was on the first floor. The elevators made very strange noises on the way down, and I was worried they were going to get stuck. In the lobby there were also randomly placed trash cans. I’m assuming because of ceiling leaks. The first floor smelled had a burnt smell to it. I know the pool is on that floor, but it just had a very strange smell to it. When I looked around the room, it was okay. The shower had a few hairs in it from what I’m assuming was the previous stay. I was only there for one night, so I didn’t want to make a huge deal of it, but the cleanliness could have been better. The overall experience was okay at best. There’s definitely better hotels I could have stayed at. I guess the best thing about this one was the location. I just wasn’t super impressed overall.

The Springhill Suites has the best location in Lawrence. At the north end of downtown and right on the river. Small but well equipped rooms. Decent breakfast but limited parking, especially during events like wedding receptions.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel, till the moment we left, the staff was stellar. So friendly and attentive. This hotel doesn’t look like your standard hotel and I was okay with that once we stepped inside. The decor was up to date, clean and very inviting. The room was clean and looked out over the river. We love everything about this hotel. We liked it so much we booked it for another week because we are in town dealing with some health issues with my husbands parents. Everyone working here is not only delightful, but welcoming, ask how we are everyday, engage with us, thank us for short stories we have and share as we lived in Lawrence for 23 years (him) and 9 years (me) over, etc. the hotel has been extremely busy while we’ve been here and we felt like we were the only people here (noise of the hotel wise). The train goes by on the other side of the river, so we put our fan on all the time which made it so the noise didn’t wake us up at night except on the weekend as it seems like perhaps the trains hit the Midwest after coming from the coast? To other coast? My husband sleeps through anything; I put on music ear bud in my ear and slept 9 hours straight so that was an easy solution. The train by no means lessened our love of this hotel and is not a reason for anyone to NOT stay here. It’s a great place with amazing close downtown for walks, restaurants, shopping, etc and Lawrence had a historic and thriving downtown unlike almost any other city in the US! It’s always busy and a great place to hang out.

Great access to downtown and a very cool location right on the river. The continental breakfast is also very good. Very friendly staff as well. You can stay here and walk to the downtown bars/restaurants and don't have to worry about driving or getting an Uber if you have a few drinks (or even one drink).

Bathroom needs more lighting and new faucet. Although the property is nicely located on the riverfront, the patio / walking area along the river front could use a good power washing. Lots of debris from the trees, would be nice if they spruced this area up and put some seating since rooms do not have balconies and it’s along the water.
