Wow! This hotel property is amazing! The resort pool and gardens are beautiful, and the views across the river to the karst topography in the Vang Vieng area are breath-taking! The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming, and the breakfast was wonderful -- with lots of options to choose from, and beautiful indoor and outdoor seating areas. My room was huge, comfortable, and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable. And I loved my outdoor patio space with poolside and mountain views! Incredible! Finally, its location in Vang Vieng is perfect -- quiet and conveniently walkable to the downtown area, and next to the walking bridge over the river, so if you want to ride one of the hotel's complimentary bikes out to Nam Xay viewpoint, it's a straight shot. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

Great hotel in great location

We stayed for four nights and were upgraded to a Deluxe room which is 32m2 (same size as classic) on the ground level with pool view and outside seating area. Very comfortable king bed, small sitting area and a large bathroom. Shower is in bath, so may not suit everyone.

Pool is very refreshing. There are about 22 sun lounges and we never had a shortage during our 4 nights stay. Very serene views of the river and limestone mountains in the background make it a very relaxing place to cool off after a day out and about.

Breakfast is buffet style with egg station. Plenty of options to suit most people with different menu items each day. Fresh juices were great, never had avocado before but it was my favourite. Veth and Yurr (trainee) looked after us with great care and attention. We were never short of freshly brewed coffees, teas or water. Used plates were cleared frequently and quickly.

Overall we had a lovely stay and would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

The restaurant was amazing, we never ate anywhere else and we’re looking forward to each meal. Never ate the same thing twice. Pool was excellent and massages too. I treated myself to this place. My room was very nicely furnished. The resort is excellent. I really enjoyed the breakfast. The staff at reception and in the dining room were excellent. It was a nice surprise at poolside to see the hot air balloons take to the air on the other side of the river.

It rained during our stay and this was the perfect place to be. We enjoyed a lazy day sitting on our balcony watching the clouds dance around the mountains in between the rain showers. We ate all our meals at the on-site restaurant (which we normally wouldn’t do) and really enjoyed trying all the different Lao dishes they prepared. This must be the best place to stay in Vang Vieng.

I was here for 3 nights and then returned another night after visiting Vang Vieng so I was in two different type rooms and they were both excellent.The second was on the second floor and had a nice balcony which I would recommend if stairs are not a problem to you. But both rooms were very nice and felt luxurious. The location along the river is very nice and quiet since it is not right in the center of town. But it is also convenient enough to walk to the center of town and enjoy the markets and restaurants. The pool and spa were excellent and quiet. We arrived at the end of the rainy season so I don't think their evening dining options were fully functional yet. Breakfast was good but we enjoyed dinner each evening at one of the lovely and unique restaurants in the inner city. I can easily recommend this hotel.

We were upgraded to a suite which was huge and overlooked the river, it was an amazing room, and finished with the trappings of an old world home.

The restaurant was good and the staff attentive and helpful.

2 reasons for the 4 score rather than 5 :
- the reception area is bland and functional and does not reflect the rest of the hotel
- the restaurant staff were not very knowledgeable. They had a great wine list and everything I ordered that was upper end wines they said they did not have and they did not seem to know what they actually had. So I ended up going down to the wine cellar and found all of the wines I wanted, so all good at the end of the day.

The pool area looked good but didn’t really use it.

We had a very short stay at this hotel but would have happily stayed longer if we had more time.
This hotel is very conveniently located right next to the main road to town but it sits down low beside the river and so you feel very secluded. Although the property is a little bit older I found the room and amenities to be very comfortable and nice. Lovely pool with a view. Some construction going during our stay but that seemed to be happening everywhere we went this trip. That’s one downside to traveling during low season.
The staff here was very friendly and the food was delicious! We ordered room service one night bc we were so tired from the day and it was one out best meals in Laos. A highly recommend this hotel for a great value.

This hotel is the best choice in Vang Vieng if you have the option. The rooms, grounds and dining are all excellent, but the best is the staff. Kai at the front desk was so helpful and professional. She really made my stay more than perfect! I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. And to do the balloon ride with Above Laos - my trip highlight!

Very over priced. Presents itself as a luxury hotel but the service, condition of the building, the facilities and the location is more like a 3 star hotel. I would not stay here again. The staff try hard but basic things like stained bath towels, inconsistent room cleaning, age and functionality of air conditioning units, the few tv channels are unwatchable because no one has bothered to tune it properly or the antenna is unless, also no international channels. The receptionist damaged my hire car putting one of my suitcases in the boot which I could have cause me to lose my £500 deposit. The security gate guard guided me back when I was reversing my car virtually into a post and into the path of a minibus. The restaurant forgetting to bring ordered food and bringing the wrong order. So many basic things for such an expensive hotel is astonishing.

The staff are superb - they go the extra mile and in the restaurant they were attentive and friendly. The spa is beautifully situated too. Riverside Boutique is a fantastic place. You almost can believe that you are in front of the river and in the middle of mountains. The views from the pool are simply the best that I have ever seen. You can't believe that you are there. On top of that, the hotel is walking distance to the center of Vang Vieng and you have in front one very small \"toll\" bridge that everybody uses for crossing the river.

It was a beautiful location! The rooms were nice and it was a well set up property.
This is the first hotel in all of southeast Asia in the last 3 weeks that felt musty. All our clothes and we were musty. They also didn’t have a pickup service past 6 pm or something... that was odd. The pool was okay and the breakfast selection was okay, but nothing to write about.
The property is picturesque, and the staff are quite nice!

Beautiful boutique hotel. Staff was lovely and the food in restaurant was delicious. On site spa specializes in Lao dry massages (similar to Thai massage), which was fabulous. Unless your a college kid there for the tubing and the boozing, this is the only place to stay in Vang Vieng.

Relaxing with butterflies in Laos

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The location was fantastic. The gardens are FILLED with butterflies. We had nice meals and an easy walk into the town. Took two tours and enjoyed both the tour of the caves/rice fields and the tour up the river. They even arranged for the river boat to pick up right behind the property. Beautiful, relaxing location.

Beautiful hotel but need more effort

The setting was very beautiful. The staffs were very friendly and smiling. Maybe it was our bad luck as there were no hot water fir shower. We wanted to call someone to fix it but the phone didn't work. It was raining heavily so we decided to bear with cold shower..
The hotel restaurant has received so many good comments so we tried. Our comments are: the menu is very limited and the food was not as nice as i read on TripAdvisor..

Riverside Boutique has been one of my FAVOURITE places to stay. Friendly staffs, great accommodation and most importantly, amazing view of Laos mountains. It was the most perfect place to stay and relax to enjoy Laos's nature. Hotel's poolside is a must when you go here and you'll be mesmerized with the number of butterflies you see in their garden! Such a fantastic team of staff that look after you throughout your stay, adding to the beauty of the surroundings outside the hotel through to the well maintained grounds and rooms. No stay would be complete without sampling the dinner menu and relaxing by the pool. The town of Vang Vieng is very small meaning everything is within walking distance, including a range of tour operators (useful for booking kayaking, tubing and cave tours etc.), a 12 minute walk to the well known Luang Prabang Bakery and next to the main bridge leading to the Blue Lagoon (6.7km away).

Did not expect to find such a luxurious resort in such a rough place. When we arrived in Laos we were surprised at how rude most of the locals were. The staff at Riverside we found to be the complete opposite - extremely friendly and helpful. The resort itself has the most beautiful backdrop of mountains that is truly stunning. The pictures don't do it justice. Most of the rooms look like they have mountain views. The bed was plush and comfortable, their wifi was blazing fast (tested at 25mb down and 15 up), rooms were clean and the air conditioner was very powerful (much needed with 105 degree heat).

A true slice of luxury in a desolate place!

Fnatastic Hotel, fantastic views.

Fantastic hotel, overlooking the river and mountains at the south end of Vang Vieng. Rooms are spacious and well set out, with lots of room and very nice fittings. Bed is very comfortable and bathroom is clean a spacious with a wonderful shower. Real great aspect of the hotel is the great view over the river, with a perfect aspect for the sun rising. you will want to get up early just for that.

Hotel is located ideally for cycling to the bhuddha caves and only 10 min from town. Local shops for essentials are only 5 mins walk away.

Restaurant in the hotel serves excellent, and well priced food and the service at both the restaurant and bar is second to none.

Highly recommended hotel, both for relaxing and as a good base to explore.

Beautiful rooms and spacious with balconies overlooking the pool and river. Food is very good too and breakfast omelette etc made to order.
It is expensive for the area but if you want to splash out .... You'd pay double this in Europe.

A five-star oasis in an outback town

Lovely spot with very good facilities away from the noise, hustle & bustle of the town centre but close enough to walk in and out with no problem (like everywhere in Vang Vieng!). Nice pool and it appears that all rooms have private balcony or verandah with pool and river views. Friendly staff ... But you would surely have to be somewhere other than Laos for the people not to be!?! Hotel restaurant, bar and mini-bar prices are of course 2-3 times that of cheaper town bars & restaurants ... But what would you expect for 5 Star!? Overall, lots of little touches that just make it better and 5-Star. I would not hesitate to recommend and say that it was a pleasure and is also great value for the price!

I stayed here for several nights and really enjoyed the hotel and location - just over the old bridge... walking distance to the city though - they also have a shuttle service - just be sure you request a pick up in town - they only go in if someone wants to leave the hotel and go - they don't check for pick ups - The staff was too kind!! This was a great hotel!!

Wonderful place to stay in Vientiane!

This place was amazing, a wonderful staff, a great outdoor pool, comfortable rooms, very nice and artistic decor! Great breakfast!
A 20 minute walk to downtown but there's a free shuttle every hour offered but the hotel. Don't hesitate!

Really a nice hotel. Friendly staff, very helpful. Great location next to the river with the view to the hot air balloons flying in the evenings. Close also to the city center and night market. Clean and nice rooms, great breakfast and restaurant.
