The staying at the Hotel was reasonable good, that is, room very clean, good quality linen bed sheets, and room in good order. My predicament now is how I recover the $50.00 dollar key room deposit that I payed at the Lakes Hotel. Who is responsible to refund that money, The Lakes Hotel or the LastMinute? Because I have contacted Lola three times over the phone, apparently the Lakes Hotel Manager, but it has been impossible to recover the $50.00 dollars key room deposit. Great location. Staff friendly and helpful. Room, public space and toiletts were always clean. Ate in the pub for two nights and that was a great experience. Parmi and cheeseburger. The cheeseburger in particular was amazing. Tasted great and wasn't sloppy. Overall, this one's a winner value for money.

room was perfect clean spotless linen was crisp and clean the coffee/tea station on top of fridge was so appreciated even in our budget room there was space for everything hangers in the wardrobe there was even milk in the fridge for us the checkin guy was great knew everything even looked up how long it would take us to get to the funeral the next day i needed the help and he was so happy to do so thank you again for everything

Mattress severely uncomfortable and caused back pain, blood stain on the bedding, no quilt or proper blanets supplied, air conditioning did not work, showers full of mould. Accommodation over all needs upgrading for price. However, staff were incredibly friendly and helpful!

What the helly is that smelly from the vents/drains!!! Obviously a known issue why there’s soo many auto air freshners near the bathrooms at the end of the corridor!
Also heard some poor lady telling someone (trying to get in to her room!) to get away from her door late saturday night..

The staff were excellent, but the rest of the experience was terrible, the fridge run all night, there was a machine outside my window that was extremely noisy all night. Noise in the corridor was terrible all night. Door closers were faulty and the room doors slammed all day and night. The TV is so small it's useless, and the volume was set way too low. No servicing of the room at all and run out of sugar, coffee and milk. The meals were tasty but mostly cold to warm at best.

I have never in my life experience this i was refused by the staff to stay with them after paying for the room the staff said they dont accept local to stay at their hotel meaning people living around the central coast area i was turned down by the staff i even them i am about 30min away from home and i got dropped off have no place else to stay and they said theres other accommodation available around the corner i wana know whats the reason behind this policy after turning down by them i was outside sitting there calling all the accommodations around the area as most were fully booked and finally got an offer from Venus hotel about 15min walk from The lakes hotel does did anyone experience the same thing or not ? i want to know why booked and plan my trip prior two weeks before the event that i went to attend to find out they wont allow me to stay cus im a local so frustrating so i had to pay an extra room while waiting to get a refund after i checked in to Venus resort and they call me about an hour later and check if im still checking in or not are they serious ? i said no your staff were so rude and said they dont accept locals and her answer was oh im really sorry about that yes we dont allow local the answer i get was oh its just our policy so i hang up the phone but thank God lovely staff at Venus resort offer me great service....

I loved this hotel, friendly staff and large rooms. Bathrooms and toilets are shared though they have separate lockable doors for each. Food downstairs is great. My only criticism was that the check in is located in an area where children are unable to go. Staff did however look after the kids as I checked in. Will definately use again.

Was not happy with being woken up very early in the morning with work men banging and talking in the roof area, was not impressed at all. I left the night check out. so I didn’t have to deal with them. 2 mornings in a row was enough had to get back to Melbourne for a proper sleep. Oh and the banging of the room doors at night. Friggen all night. BANG. BANG BANG ahhhhh sleep where are you.

Excellent budget accommodation. Clean & a big comfy bed. Was worried about the shared bathroom but it was clean with a great shower, although bit hard to get dressed inside cubicle. Meals in bistro were reasonable & good food. Good, reasonably priced breakfast cafes nearby. Room 12 has the sqeakiest floor I have ever walked on, but don't know how you would fix that. Can't hear noise from downstairs so made for a quiet night's sleep. Could do with a little mirror in the room. Overall, excellent & wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Won’t go there again. You pay extra for the key and may get the money back a week later. I wanted my money back
For the key and was told no!
I had to wait the week. If I didn’t want to do that they were going to give back my money for the room and I have to go stay else where👎 That made me dissapointed. Then when I went up nice but really not for me and not impressed. I would of been stranded if I had left with no where to stay. Parking near the hotel was a fair distance to cart your luggage and you then carry it up a flight of stairs Rooms partly Quiet Tv in room on wall very tiny👎👎👎👎

I stayed 6 days of my 1st visit in room 15 but couldn't get WiFi apparently WiFi black spot for my room in that part of hotel so I booked out for few Days to get visit elsewhere when I arrived back and booked in for my second stay I mentioned the issues with no wi fi in room 15 which staff me know about so I asked for a room in different section on to be told hotel dulled book then house cleaner told me he rooms all empty of Sunday I was deceived and ripped off

Not good - the noise from the Hotel 'engines' keeping the cooling etc going was 24hrs unbearable. I was also above the Pokies which made my stay awful. Car park too far away from front door, so took long walks and up stairs to my room. Convenient spot right in centre of town and walk to beaches, esplanade, shops etc. Old Hotel, so cheaper rooms available

There is no aircon and little circulation with noisy air conditioners (for hotel/bar downstairs) on the roof near window. Definitely take temperature into account when booking. Saturday evening had free entertainment on the patio so made for a pleasant meal.

Was not happy. No air-conditioning hot small lots of stairs. One shower near no were to hang towel & cloths. No soap only liquid wash. Does not cater for elderly. Room was small bed was pushed against wall. So one person had to crawl over the other to get out . only a double bed. At $96 per night it will never be again. We got stung.

Location is perfect, close to everything you need. Rooms need air con, way too hot in the summer as it is on the first floor and a fan does not do much at all. Bathrooms, female had nowhere to hang towel in shower, males nowhere to sit toiletries in shower. Otherwise shared bathrooms were ok.

Restaurant of Lakes hotel offered interesting variety of delicious dishes (one needs to sample the parmesan crusted barramundi w/ sundried tomato butter and fried zucchini fingers) waitresses friendly, helpful & accommodating.

Small room in a pub. It is what it is.
I few flaws ( besides being tiny) the bathroom down the hall was clean but not designed for function. In a shared bathroom providing guests with some location ( a hook or a shelf, or something) to place their clean clothing, dirty clothing and towel while they shower is basic. The shower stall is designed such that all corners will be wet regardless of how careful the person washing is. A similar situation trying to use sink.

Kettle in room is useful but as only water supply is from bathroom, it helps if the kettle fits under the tap.

The hotel has all of the basics covered well. Sadly the was no mirror or private vanity unit in the room, leaving me to shave in the singular handwash basin in the shared bathroom. The bistro has rather large portions, but hidden in the menu are 'Senior's Meals' which are priced and sized more moderately. The main bar has event nights with live bands and kareoke throughout the week. The staff were fantasic and made me feel welcome.

Che & cheerful old pub in convenient location

Quirky, inexpensive village with beautiful plaza & park overlooking lake & ocean.
Ocean baths, two pubs, post office, supermarket & many shops, cafés & restaurants.
Lakes Hotel is a genuine Aussie pub with live bands most nights and a karaoke band once a week. (on Thursdays) Some patrons & staff a bit rough around the edges but it is an Australian pub in a quirky part of the world. You might need ear plugs for the live music.

During the booking we should have been notified that there is no toilet and bathroom in the rooms. In the room smells of cigarettes and liquor. We cudnt even stay in the for even half an hour. We checked in 2.20pm and we checked out 3pm. When people make bookings they should be notified that there is separate toilet and bathrooms which are shared.

Back to the way hotels used to be

This is a very economical hotel . One needs to climb stairs. The bathrooms are down the corridor. But the rooms do run to a fridge , jug and TVs and are well maintained. We were attended a sporting event and only needed a place to crash so it suited us nicely.
I approve of these old style pubs remaining functional and the management has made a good job of what they have

Clean..big...and value for money

Stayed in the family Room which was spacious modern and clean. We are all heavy sleepers so the loud music from the bar downstairs didnt bother us. If you are sensitive to noise then I wouldnt recommend staying there. If we didnt have kids we would have gone down to dance as it was all awesome old school music playing. Would definitely stay there again as havent stayed in a room that large and nice for that price.

Fantastic location close to movies, restaurants and stroll to beach. Great menu to pick from and dining inside or out on modern open air verandah. Live music on site both day and night in different areas of the pub. Rooms clean, neat , basic with tv , fridge and kettle but with newly renovated shared bathrooms.

No good sleep. Very chaotic at night

Unless you're a group of friends who come with an intention to drown in drinks through the night, this place is a strict NO for families. The ground floor is a pub attached with bottlemart which creates a perfect climate that attracts lot of unpleasing guys and miscreants.
Somewhere, it is a mistake that i took this place but couldn't get any thing else within few days to long weekend.
The rooms don't have attached bathrooms and toilet.

The location was good. The hotel bistro and alfresco area was really nice.The location was good.
The bathroom was a shared one which was nice and new.
However there was nowhere in the shower room to put your clothes or towel whilst showering.
There was no washbasin in the room. We had to go to the bathroom down the corridor to get water to boil the jug.
There was no mirror in the room. It was cheap enough though.

Did not enjoy this experience. Nice bathrooms was the only saving grace. The room was so small. No heating so I had to wear my big coat to bed. Average part of town.
